  This is my first time posting - I greatly appreciate any and all guidance on this subject. Background: I am building a Real Estate web site. I would like to use the free IDX data provided by my local MLS board. The MLS board does not allow me the option of displaying a predefined search and only provides me with a link to the search field. after filling out the search field, I am able to view the results. Goal: I would like to bypass this step and frame the results page into a GoDaddy website I am building, which supports HTML. • Can USB Hubs affect peripheral performance?

  Like many laptops, mine has 2 USB 2.0 ports. I'm looking to purchase a USB hub for my peripheral devices. I'm also planning on purchasing a laptop cooler with two USB powered fans, which connects to a USB port but can extend the plug, so it doesn't use one up. (Sorry for the poor description; see the link for a picture.) My questions are these: Can one plug 'too many' peripherals into a USB port? Can I plug my fans into a port, then the hub into the fans, then my keyboard and mouse, mic, and webcam into the extender..? Is it possible to draw too much power from a port? Secondly, will a USB hub affect the performance of any of my devices? I'm mostly worried about my mouse and keyboard. I like wired mice because I've noticed some lag in my Bluetooth mouse.

  Hello, i am in China now, and when i saw an USB digitizer (resistive), i bought it, thinking that i could be used as a mouse. When i connect it to my windows 7 rc1 laptop, the system properties says "pen input available" But, nothing happens when i touch the panel... i installed the bundled drivers, in chinese only, and NOT in unicode (so the text is garbled) When i install the driver, i get access to a special key on the tablet, "switch from pen input to mouse", and the driver will move the pointer according to the position on the tablet. (but no click) If i use the "pen mode", the computer will use a special chinese IME that is very awkard, i want to use the microsoft ime, and be able to draw/take notes on the screen There are "generic" drivers? Or just a plain mouse driver that will click when i press on the surface The tablet name is "qiancai"

  Three finger swipe left/right - Task switcher shows up (a horizontal bar with app symbols). Two finger swipe - highlights an icon and shows app name. ?? - switches to highlighted app. Since the highlighting is independent of the mouse cursor, a click doesn't work here without moving the mouse cursor. But I don't want this (locate mouse cursor, move the extra mile..). Maybe Better Touch Tool allows to configure a click to act as SPACE or RETURN in the task switcher? But how did Apple intend to use this?

• How to zoom the desktop under Gnome?

  I want to use my PC from the couch, but from there, I cannot see what I'm clicking. I enabled Enhanced Zoom Desktop in CCSM and it looked like it does what I want. But when "Sync mouse" is enabled, the whole desktop pans around with the tiniest mouse twitch, making me seasick. When I disable it, the mouse pointer is mapped to the non-zoomed desktop, which means that when I click on a button I am seeing on the desktop, the click registers somewhere else, and I practically cannot do anything while under zoom. Is there a better solution (does not have to involve CCSM)? Clarification: I am looking for something which zooms the entire desktop, not for a detached magnifier window.

• $.ajax not loading data data everytime from server

  I have written a simple jQuery.ajax function which loads a user control from the server on click of a button. The first time I click the button, it goes to the server and gets me the user control. But each subsequent click of the same button does not goes to the server to fetch me the user control. Since my user control fetches data from db, I need to reload the user control everytime i hit the button. But if anyhow I get my user control to unload from the page, and re-click the button, it goes to the server and fetches me the user control. • Debian Squeeze: Trackpad on EEE PC 1000HA acts like slate

  I'm using Debian on an Asus Eee PC 1000HA. It works flawlessly, except that the built-in trackpad acts as if it was a slate. That is, if I touch the upper-left quadrant of the trackpad, the mouse pointer "teleports" to the upper left of the netbook's screen. If I touch the bottom center, the pointer teleports to the bottom center of the screen. I currently have no xorg.conf. I have tried various settings for the mouse in xorg.confs that I created, and none of them did more than disable the trackpad entirely. The trackpad works perfectly in Windows XP (shipped with the Eee) and in Ubuntu. Debian works fine with the (USB) mouse. Any suggestions? Thanks.

• How to identify cause of system lock on debian squeeze?

  I have a desktop system at work with debian squeeze installed. Every couple days or so, when I come in in the morning, the system appears to be asleep and won't wake up. I suspect it goes into power save mode and then doesn't receive the wake up signal when I click the mouse or touch the keyboard. Does anyone know where I should look in order to start tracking this down? Like log files, etc? I doubt it, but maybe the fact that I'm using a mac aluminum usb keyboard and a wireless usb mouse (that has an off switch) has something to do with it? Maybe, when I turn my mouse off at the end of the day, the system loses track of the device somehow? I dunno :P. Thanks in advance.

I know of two methods using gitk, but they're both horribly clunky: Either: Select the New View option from the View menu, Type in the full path to your file into the box labelled Enter files and directories to include, one per line, Locate the version you want to compare by looking at the highlighted items in the top pane, and click on it to select it, Right-click on the current version and select Diff selected - this, Or: Select Tree in the bottom right-hand pane, Locate the file you want to look at, right-click on it, and select Highlight this only, Locate the version you want to compare by looking at the highlighted items in the top pane, and click on it to select it, Right-click on the current version and select Diff selected - this, Click on the file in the bottom right-hand pane to jump to it in the diff output, or scroll manually. • Advice on a simple Windows Form

  I have a VERY simple windows form that the user uses to manage "Stores". Each store has a name and number, and is kept in a corresponding DB table. The form has a listbox of stores, an add button that creates a new store, a delete button, and an edit button. Beside those I have text boxes for the name and number, and save/cancel buttons. When the user chooses a store from the list box, and clicks 'edit', the textboxes become populated and save/cancel become active. When the user clicks 'add', I create a new Store, add it to the listbox, activate the textboxes and save/cancel buttons, then commit it to the database when the user clicks 'save', or discards it when the user clicks 'cancel'. Right now, my event system looks like this (in psuedo-code. It's just shorter that way.) add->click: store = new Store() listbox.add(store) populateAndEdit(store) delete->click: store = listbox.selectedItem db.deleteOnSubmit(store) listbox.remove(store) db.submit() edit->click: populateAndEdit(listbox.selectedItem) save->click: parseAndSave(listbox.selectedItem) db.submit() disableTexts() cancel->click: disableTexts() The problem is in how I determine if we are inserting a new Store, or updating an existing one. The obvious solution to me would be to make it a "modal" process - that is, when I click edit, I go into edit mode, and the save button does things differently than if I were in add mode. I know I could make this more MVC-like, but I don't really think this simple form merits the added complexity. I'm not very experienced with winforms, so I'm not sure if I even have the right idea for how to tackle this. Is there a better way to do this? I would like to keep it simple, but usable.

• Computer Locks Up Completely When Resuming From Standby

  Okay, so I'm having a strange issue lately with my desktop, and off the top of my head I'm not sure what the problem is, so I'm hoping for some ideas on how to track down the cause. First, my PC: AMD Phenom 9600 Quad-Core 2.4 GHz 4 GB DDR2 160 GB boot HDD 1 TB & 120 GB secondary HDD Nvidia GeForce 8600 GTS Windows 7 Professional 64-bit I have my power settings as follows: Turn off the display: 10 minutes Turn off hard disk: 20 minutes Sleep after: Never After a while, I'll come back to use my computer again, wiggle the mouse, and the screen comes back on like normal, but the desktop is unresponsive. I can move the cursor, but nothing responds to clicks or keyboard entry. If I click a few times with the mouse, the computer eventually locks up completely and the mouse cursor stops moving as well. After I restart, everything works just fine. Is there a log you recommend checking or really any suggestions would be welcome at this point. Thanks!

• Image swap with a javascript onclick dropdown menu

  So I've got this code that has an image and when you click it a dropdown menu appears. Pretty simple. The code works fine but I'm trying to incorporate an image swap on click and I'm having difficulty. • Cross platform KVM over ethernet

  I'm not sure if this exists, but this is what I'd like to do. I have a laptop and a desktop that I work on about equally. The laptop runs windows 7 and the desktop is on kubuntu 10.04. What I want to be able to do is be able to drag my mouse accross my screen and have it act like my laptop is a second monitor. Whereby I can use my desktop mouse, drag it say to the left off of my desktop monitor, and use it on my laptop (I don't care about the keyboard, just the mouse). Is that possible? Are there any other solutions that exist? I'd prefer not to have a physical kvm switch.

I am using the following code below to show a partial result through ajax onto a jquery dialog. When i click on another item (lets say i send id = 4567) it shows the content from 1234 still. Which i click this second item again (again its 4567), then it will show the content from 4567. Does anyone know why it might not be refreshed the first time? Is this a timing issue?

I've been tinkering with firebugs console to try out my written code live to see if i can figure out the reason why .die isn't killing off an attached event. But sometimes I want to disable this behaviour and also make the link unclickable so I do the following //unbind ajax form creation when we click on a link, then disable its semantic behaviour $('a[href$=edit]').die("click").click( function(){ return false; } ); which works but if then try to remove this and restore that ajax goodness with the code below it doesn't work, Instead the link remains unclickable. I cant figure out why? • In Jeditable, how do I make it so that when I click the div to edit, the text box content has initial value that is processed?

  When the user clicks on the div, jeditable will make a text box. However, I want the initial text to be done with function stripTags(), instead of what's on the page. The reason is that I'm using some URL techniques to turn plain text links into URLs. • Trouble deciding how to add popup menu to eclipse plugin using either action ObjectContributions or command handlers

  The issue is this: Most things I read on the web says that we should avoid actions when creating popup menus because the command framework allows for more decoupling. Example: http://wiki.eclipse.org/FAQ_What_is_the_difference_between_a_command_and_an_action%3F Fair enough. But I am having a heck of a time getting the command framework to add my menu when I right click on a .java file inside the editor, and only when I click inside the editor. I can get the menu to show (using 'with' and the activeEditor variable), but it also shows when I right click on the java file inside the package explorer, which I don't want. I suspect it's because the file is already open inside the editor. I also have a menu that gets added when I right click on the java file inside the package explorer, using IComplilationUnit. That works fine. So my problem is solved using a popup menu action for when I click inside the file. I also get access to to all the ISelection stuff there. But the coupling is to high and I lose the flexability of using handlers. I'm looking for either: Tell me I'm doing it the only way possible; or Tell me how to have my popup appear only when I right click on the java file editor. Regards

  Hi I had a server pc with the following error. \windows\system32\config\system is corrupt or missing As to fix it i replaced the files instructed here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307545. Problem solved and I was able to boot up to windows desktop. But now none of the usb ports recognize any of the usb devices such as mouse, keyboard, thumbdrive nada... The usb mouse powers up (the light at the bottom lids up) but no functionality. Has anyone experienced this kind of behaviour any tip is really appreceiated. PS:There is no PS2 ports for both mouse and keyboard. Edit: Same behaviour persists in Safe mode also.

  I have searched many forums and tried a lot of suggested solutions but nothing works. I am sure that installation disk is ok cause it worked before (I was able to install Windows7 on my other notebook - MSI). What happens is: I boot with installation CD, it says 'Windows is loading files...' Then it says Starting Windows (mouse laser works at that moment). Then I get the screen with window which has a title "Install Windows" with options to choose language, keyboard, etc. and asking me to click next. But, the problem is that at that moment mouse and keyboard don't work at all. Mouse's laser is turned off, and if I press CAPS LOCK on keyboard it doesn't turn the LED on. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks!

  Hello, I seem to be having difficulties using jQuery .animate() to animate an absolutely positioned div from right to left on a button click, and left to right on another button click. I was wondering if you would be willing to help me understand what I'm doing wrong? Thanks. Below is my relevant CSS, HTML, and jQuery code.
