  • dynamic array pointer to binary file

    - by Yijinsei
    Hi guys, Know this might be rather basic, but I been trying to figure out how to one after create a dynamic array such as double* data = new double[size]; be used as a source of data to be kept in to a binary file such as ofstream fs("data.bin",ios:binary"); fs.write(reinterpret_cast<const char *> (data),size*sizeof(double)); When I finish writing, I attempt to read the file through double* data = new double[size]; ifstream fs("data.bin",ios:binary"); fs.read(reinterpret_cast<char*> (data),size*sizeof(double)); However I seem to encounter a run time error when reading the data. Do you guys have any advice how i should attempt to write a dynamic array using pointers passed from other methods to be stored in binary files?

  • How to get predecessor and successors from an adjacency matrix

    - by NickTFried
    Hi I am am trying to complete an assignment, where it is ok to consult the online community. I have to create a graph class that ultimately can do Breadth First Search and Depth First Search. I have been able to implement those algorithms successfully however another requirement is to be able to get the successors and predecessors and detect if two vertices are either predecessors or successors for each other. I'm having trouble thinking of a way to do this. I will post my code below, if anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated. import java.util.ArrayList; import java.util.Iterator; import java.util.LinkedList; import java.util.Queue; import java.util.Stack; public class Graph<T> { public Vertex<T> root; public ArrayList<Vertex<T>> vertices=new ArrayList<Vertex<T>>(); public int[][] adjMatrix; int size; private ArrayList<Vertex<T>> dfsArrList; private ArrayList<Vertex<T>> bfsArrList; public void setRootVertex(Vertex<T> n) { this.root=n; } public Vertex<T> getRootVertex() { return this.root; } public void addVertex(Vertex<T> n) { vertices.add(n); } public void removeVertex(int loc){ vertices.remove(loc); } public void addEdge(Vertex<T> start,Vertex<T> end) { if(adjMatrix==null) { size=vertices.size(); adjMatrix=new int[size][size]; } int startIndex=vertices.indexOf(start); int endIndex=vertices.indexOf(end); adjMatrix[startIndex][endIndex]=1; adjMatrix[endIndex][startIndex]=1; } public void removeEdge(Vertex<T> v1, Vertex<T> v2){ int startIndex=vertices.indexOf(v1); int endIndex=vertices.indexOf(v2); adjMatrix[startIndex][endIndex]=1; adjMatrix[endIndex][startIndex]=1; } public int countVertices(){ int ver = vertices.size(); return ver; } /* public boolean isPredecessor( Vertex<T> a, Vertex<T> b){ for() return true; }*/ /* public boolean isSuccessor( Vertex<T> a, Vertex<T> b){ for() return true; }*/ public void getSuccessors(Vertex<T> v1){ } public void getPredessors(Vertex<T> v1){ } private Vertex<T> getUnvisitedChildNode(Vertex<T> n) { int index=vertices.indexOf(n); int j=0; while(j<size) { if(adjMatrix[index][j]==1 && vertices.get(j).visited==false) { return vertices.get(j); } j++; } return null; } public Iterator<Vertex<T>> bfs() { Queue<Vertex<T>> q=new LinkedList<Vertex<T>>(); q.add(this.root); printVertex(this.root); root.visited=true; while(!q.isEmpty()) { Vertex<T> n=q.remove(); Vertex<T> child=null; while((child=getUnvisitedChildNode(n))!=null) { child.visited=true; bfsArrList.add(child); q.add(child); } } clearVertices(); return bfsArrList.iterator(); } public Iterator<Vertex<T>> dfs() { Stack<Vertex<T>> s=new Stack<Vertex<T>>(); s.push(this.root); root.visited=true; printVertex(root); while(!s.isEmpty()) { Vertex<T> n=s.peek(); Vertex<T> child=getUnvisitedChildNode(n); if(child!=null) { child.visited=true; dfsArrList.add(child); s.push(child); } else { s.pop(); } } clearVertices(); return dfsArrList.iterator(); } private void clearVertices() { int i=0; while(i<size) { Vertex<T> n=vertices.get(i); n.visited=false; i++; } } private void printVertex(Vertex<T> n) { System.out.print(n.label+" "); } }

  • Get available screen area in autohotkey

    - by Herms
    I'm trying to write a few simple AutoHotkey scripts for moving windows around, and I'm having trouble getting the correct screen size values. I'm trying to get the size of the usable area on the screen (generally the full screen resolution minus the taskbar, and maybe any other docked windows like the sidebar in Vista). Neither of the methods I've found for getting the screen width seems to work. None of the 3 methods I found to get the screen size are giving me the right values. Here's the test script I'm using (running on XP with the taskbar on the bottom at its default size): #7:: WinMove A,,0,0,A_ScreenWidth,A_ScreenHeight return #8:: ;SM_CXMAXIMIZED and SM_CYMAXIMIZED SysGet, ScreenWidth, 61 SysGet, ScreenHeight, 62 WinMove A,,0,0,ScreenWidth,ScreenHeight return #9:: ;SM_CXFULLSCREEN and SM_CYFULLSCREEN SysGet, ScreenWidth, 16 SysGet, ScreenHeight, 17 WinMove A,,0,0,ScreenWidth,ScreenHeight return #7 causes the window to take up the entire resolution, so it overlaps the taskbar. #8 causes the width to be larger than the resolution (I see the window's right edge show up on my secondary monitor) and the height is slightly too large, so the window partially overlaps the taskbar area. Looks like this is correct except for not taking into account the window decorations at the edges. #9 seems to have the correct width, but the height is too short. It looks like it's subtracting the taskbar's height from the resolution's height, but then subtracting another 30 pixels from it. I could just use what I have in #9 and add 30 to the height I get, but that feels too much like a hack that would break in other configurations. It seems like there has to be a way to get the available screen size properly, but I can't find it in AutoHotkey. For reference, this seems to give me what I need in Java: Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().getScreenSize();

  • Using max-width = 100% and max-height = 100% on an image, calculate the display width/height

    - by NatalieMac
    I am creating a slideshow for images of various sizes to display centered vertically and horizontally within a canvas area. In my CSS, I set the width and height of the image to 100% so that each image would proportionally fill the canvas. I want the canvas to auto-size itself to fit within the viewer's screensize as the original size of the images is quite large (up to 800 pixels tall). I am using jQuery 1.4, and using the height of the image to calculate the top value for absolute positioning it to the middle of the canvas. I have tried using jQuery to get the .height(), innerHeight(), and outerHeight(), but it always gets the full size of the image. I extracted the DOM element from the jQuery object and tried using .width, .offsetWidth, and .clientWidth, but that too always seems to return the full size of the image. Firebug displays the correct dimensions, so I know there's some way of calculating the actual display height of the image, I just can't figure out what it is. How do you get the actual display height of an image if you've set max-height = 100%? I didn't want to have to calculate and set the height of each image in the js, but if I have to, I will. It just seems like I should be able to set the canvas size and have the images auto-adjust.

  • Make HTML content area fit to viewport height?

    - by viatropos
    I just made this demo extracting out what I'm trying to accomplish: Autosize Main Content Area I want the pink/yellow area to act according to these rules: Minimum height is the size of its content (which is variable) IF content size is smaller than viewport size Otherwise minimum height is such that it adjusts to fill the window. Checking out the source to that demo, what am I missing? I feel like this is a pretty easy case that shouldn't require javascript. Any ideas?

  • Why won't my CATiledLayer scroll in a UIScrollView after zooming?

    - by Brodie4598
    I'm currently having the following problem with CATiledLayer: when the view first loads, the scrolling works perfectly, but then when you zoom once, the view snaps to the anchor point (top left corner) and it can no longer scroll at all. The zooming works in that it will zoom in and out, but it will only zoom to the top left corner. My code is as follows: #import <QuartzCore/QuartzCore.h> #import "PracticeViewController.h" @implementation practiceViewController //@synthesize image; - (void)viewDidLoad { NSString *path = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"H-5" ofType:@"jpg"]; NSData *data = [NSData dataWithContentsOfFile:path]; image = [UIImage imageWithData:data]; CGRect pageRect = CGRectMake(0, 0, image.size.width, image.size.height); CATiledLayer *tiledLayer = [CATiledLayer layer]; tiledLayer.anchorPoint = CGPointMake(0.0f, 1.0f); tiledLayer.delegate = self; tiledLayer.tileSize = CGSizeMake(1000, 1000); tiledLayer.levelsOfDetail = 6; tiledLayer.levelsOfDetailBias = 0; tiledLayer.bounds = pageRect; tiledLayer.transform = CATransform3DMakeScale(1.0f, -1.0f, 0.3f); myContentView = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:self.view.bounds]; [myContentView.layer addSublayer:tiledLayer]; UIScrollView *scrollView = [[UIScrollView alloc] initWithFrame:self.view.bounds]; scrollView.delegate = self; scrollView.contentSize = pageRect.size; scrollView.minimumZoomScale = .2; scrollView.maximumZoomScale = 1; [scrollView addSubview:myContentView]; [self.view addSubview:scrollView]; } - (UIView *)viewForZoomingInScrollView:(UIScrollView *)scrollView { return myContentView; } - (void)drawLayer:(CALayer *)layer inContext:(CGContextRef)ctx { NSString *path = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"H-5" ofType:@"jpg"]; NSData *data = [NSData dataWithContentsOfFile:path]; image = [UIImage imageWithData:data]; CGRect imageRect = CGRectMake (0.0, 0.0, image.size.width, image.size.height); CGContextDrawImage (ctx, imageRect, [image CGImage]); } @end

  • How is a relative JMP (x86) implemented in an Assembler?

    - by Pindatjuh
    While building my assembler for the x86 platform I encountered some problems with encoding the JMP instruction: enc inst size in bytes EB cb JMP rel8 2 E9 cw JMP rel16 4 (because of 0x66 16-bit prefix) E9 cd JMP rel32 5 ... (from my favourite x86 instruction website, http://siyobik.info/index.php?module=x86&id=147) All are relative jumps, where the size of each encoding (operation + operand) is in the third column. Now my original (and thus fault because of this) design reserved the maximum (5 bytes) space for each instruction. The operand is not yet known, because it's a jump to a yet unknown location. So I've implemented a "rewrite" mechanism, that rewrites the operands in the correct location in memory, if the location of the jump is known, and fills the rest with NOPs. This is a somewhat serious concern in tight-loops. Now my problem is with the following situation: b: XXX c: JMP a e: XXX ... XXX d: JMP b a: XXX (where XXX is any instruction, depending on the to-be assembled program) The problem is that I want the smallest possible encoding for a JMP instruction (and no NOP filling). I have to know the size of the instruction at c before I can calculate the relative distance between a and b for the operand at d. The same applies for the JMP at c: it needs to know the size of d before it can calculate the relative distance between e and a. How do existing assemblers implement this, or how would you implement this? This is what I am thinking which solves the problem: First encode all the instructions to opcodes between the JMP and it's target, and if this region contains a variable-sized opcode, use the maximum size, i.e. 5 for JMP. Then in some conditions, the JMP is oversized (because it may fit in a smaller encoding): so another pass will search for oversized JMPs, shrink them, and move all instructions ahead), and set absolute branching instructions (i.e. external CALLs) after this pass is completed. I wonder, perhaps this is an over-engineered solution, that's why I ask this question.

  • Java multiple connections downloading file

    - by weulerjunior
    Hello friends, I was wanting to add multiple connections in the code below to be able to download files faster. Could someone help me? Thanks in advance. public void run() { RandomAccessFile file = null; InputStream stream = null; try { // Open connection to URL. HttpURLConnection connection = (HttpURLConnection) url.openConnection(); // Specify what portion of file to download. connection.setRequestProperty("Range", "bytes=" + downloaded + "-"); // Connect to server. connection.connect(); // Make sure response code is in the 200 range. if (connection.getResponseCode() / 100 != 2) { error(); } // Check for valid content length. int contentLength = connection.getContentLength(); if (contentLength < 1) { error(); } /* Set the size for this download if it hasn't been already set. */ if (size == -1) { size = contentLength; stateChanged(); } // Open file and seek to the end of it. file = new RandomAccessFile("C:\\"+getFileName(url), "rw"); file.seek(downloaded); stream = connection.getInputStream(); while (status == DOWNLOADING) { /* Size buffer according to how much of the file is left to download. */ byte buffer[]; if (size - downloaded > MAX_BUFFER_SIZE) { buffer = new byte[MAX_BUFFER_SIZE]; } else { buffer = new byte[size - downloaded]; } // Read from server into buffer. int read = stream.read(buffer); if (read == -1) { break; } // Write buffer to file. file.write(buffer, 0, read); downloaded += read; stateChanged(); } /* Change status to complete if this point was reached because downloading has finished. */ if (status == DOWNLOADING) { status = COMPLETE; stateChanged(); } } catch (Exception e) { error(); } finally { // Close file. if (file != null) { try { file.close(); } catch (Exception e) { } } // Close connection to server. if (stream != null) { try { stream.close(); } catch (Exception e) { } } } }

  • Disable auto resize this page when opening in IE

    - by Stan
    If open yahoo finance chart in IE, the chart will be resized to fit the viewing window, and making the chart viewable without scrolling down. However, this makes the chart become smaller for me. I would like to see original size, which requires me to click the setting bar and change something to make it restore original size. The chart shows original size in Chrome. Is it possible to view original size in IE by passing some parameters in url? I was trying looking into source code but found nothing.

  • Slow boot on Ubuntu 12.04, probable cause the network connection

    - by Ravi S Ghosh
    I have been having rather slow boot on Ubuntu 12.04. Lately, I tried to figure out the reason and it seems to be the network connection which does not get connected and requires multiple attempts. • linux new/delete, malloc/free large memory blocks

    - by brian_mk
    Hi folks, We have a linux system (kubuntu 7.10) that runs a number of CORBA Server processes. The server software uses glibc libraries for memory allocation. The linux PC has 4G physical memory. Swap is disabled for speed reasons. Upon receiving a request to process data, one of the server processes allocates a large data buffer (using the standard C++ operator 'new'). The buffer size varies depening upon a number of parameters but is typically around 1.2G Bytes. It can be up to about 1.9G Bytes. When the request has completed, the buffer is released using 'delete'. This works fine for several consecutive requests that allocate buffers of the same size or if the request allocates a smaller size than the previous. The memory appears to be free'd ok - otherwise buffer allocation attempts would eventually fail after just a couple of requests. In any case, we can see the buffer memory being allocated and freed for each request using tools such as KSysGuard etc. The problem arises when a request requires a buffer larger than the previous. In this case, operator 'new' throws an exception. It's as if the memory that has been free'd from the first allocation cannot be re-allocated even though there is sufficient free physical memory available. If I kill and restart the server process after the first operation, then the second request for a larger buffer size succeeds. i.e. killing the process appears to fully release the freed memory back to the system. Can anyone offer an explanation as to what might be going on here? Could it be some kind of fragmentation or mapping table size issue? I am thinking of replacing new/delete with malloc/free and use mallopt to tune the way the memory is being released to the system. BTW - I'm not sure if it's relevant to our problem, but the server uses Pthreads that get created and destroyed on each processing request. Cheers, Brian.

  • How to generate random numbers of lognormal distribution within specific range in Matlab

    - by Harpreet
    My grain sizes are defined as D=[1.19,1.00,0.84,0.71,0.59,0.50,0.42]. The problem is described below in steps. Grain sizes should follow lognormal distribution. The mean of the grain sizes is fixed as 0.84 and the standard deviation should be as low as possible but not zero. 90% of the grains (by weight %) fall in the size range of 1.19 to 0.59, and the rest 10% fall in size range of 0.50 to 0.42. Now I want to find the probabilities (weight percentage) of the grains falling in each grain size. It is allowable to split this grain size distribution into further small sizes but it must always be in the range of 1.19 and 0.42, i.e. 'D' can be continuous but 0.42 < D < 1.19. I need it fast. I tried on my own but I am not able to get the correct result. I am getting negative probabilities (weight percentages). Thanks to anyone who helps. I didn't incorporate the point 3 as I came to know about that condition later. Here are simple steps I tried: %% D=[1.19,1.00,0.84,0.71,0.59,0.50,0.42]; s=0.30; % std dev of the lognormal distribution m=0.84; % mean of the lognormal distribution mu=log(m^2/sqrt(s^2+m^2)); % mean of the associated normal dist. sigma=sqrt(log((s^2/m^2)+1)); % std dev of the associated normal dist. [r,c]=size(D); for i=1:c D(i)=mu+(sigma.*randn(1)); w(i)=(log(D(i))-mu)/sigma; % the probability or the wt. percentage of the grain sizes end grain_size=exp(D); %%

  • jquery with ASP.NET MVC - calling ajax enabled web service

    - by dcp
    This is a bit of a continuation of a previous question. Now I'm trying to make a call to an AJAX enabled web service which I have defined within the ASP.NET MVC application (i.e. the MovieService.svc). But the service is never being called in my getMovies javascript function. This same technique of calling the AJAX web service works ok if I try it in a non ASP.NET MVC application, so it makes me wonder if maybe the ASP MVC routes are interfering with things somehow when it tries to make the AJAX web service call. Do you have any idea why my web service isn't getting called? Code below. <script src="<%= ResolveClientUrl("~/scripts/jquery-1.4.2.min.js") %>" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="<%= ResolveClientUrl("~/scripts/grid.locale-en.js") %>" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="<%= ResolveClientUrl("~/scripts/jquery-ui-1.8.1.custom.min.js") %>" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="<%= ResolveClientUrl("~/scripts/jquery.jqGrid.min.js") %>" type="text/javascript"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> var lastsel2; function successFunction(jsondata) { debugger var thegrid = jQuery("#editgrid"); for (var i = 0; i < jsondata.d.length; i++) { thegrid.addRowData(i + 1, jsondata.d[i]); } } function getMovies() { debugger // ***** the MovieService#GetMovies method never gets called $.ajax({ url: 'MovieService.svc/GetMovies', data: "{}", // For empty input data use "{}", dataType: "json", type: "GET", contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", success: successFunction }); } jQuery(document).ready(function() { jQuery("#editgrid").jqGrid({ datatype: getMovies, colNames: ['id', 'Movie Name', 'Directed By', 'Release Date', 'IMDB Rating', 'Plot', 'ImageURL'], colModel: [ { name: 'id', index: 'Id', width: 55, sortable: false, hidden: true, editable: false, editoptions: { readonly: true, size: 10} }, { name: 'Movie Name', index: 'Name', width: 250, editable: true, editoptions: { size: 10} }, { name: 'Directed By', index: 'Director', width: 250, align: 'right', editable: true, editoptions: { size: 10} }, { name: 'Release Date', index: 'ReleaseDate', width: 100, align: 'right', editable: true, editoptions: { size: 10} }, { name: 'IMDB Rating', index: 'IMDBUserRating', width: 100, align: 'right', editable: true, editoptions: { size: 10} }, { name: 'Plot', index: 'Plot', width: 150, hidden: false, editable: true, editoptions: { size: 30} }, { name: 'ImageURL', index: 'ImageURL', width: 55, hidden: true, editable: false, editoptions: { readonly: true, size: 10} } ], pager: jQuery('#pager'), rowNum: 5, rowList: [5, 10, 20], sortname: 'id', sortorder: "desc", height: '100%', width: '100%', viewrecords: true, imgpath: '/Content/jqGridCss/redmond/images', caption: 'Movies from 2008', editurl: '/Home/EditMovieData/', caption: 'Movie List' }); $("#bedata").click(function() { var gr = jQuery("#editgrid").jqGrid('getGridParam', 'selrow'); if (gr != null) jQuery("#editgrid").jqGrid('editGridRow', gr, { height: 280, reloadAfterSubmit: false }); else alert("Hey dork, please select a row"); }); }); </script> <h2> <%= Html.Encode(ViewData["Message"]) %></h2> <p> To learn more about ASP.NET MVC visit <a href="http://asp.net/mvc" title="ASP.NET MVC Website"> http://asp.net/mvc</a>. </p> <table id="editgrid"> </table> <div id="pager" style="text-align: center;"> </div> <input type="button" id="bedata" value="Edit Selected" /> Here's my RegisterRoutes code: public static void RegisterRoutes(RouteCollection routes) { routes.IgnoreRoute("{resource}.axd/{*pathInfo}"); routes.IgnoreRoute("*MovieService.svc*"); routes.MapRoute( "Default", // Route name "{controller}/{action}/{id}", // URL with parameters new { controller = "Home", action = "Index", id = "" } // Parameter defaults ); } Here's what my MovieService class looks like: namespace jQueryMVC { [ServiceContract(Namespace = "")] [AspNetCompatibilityRequirements(RequirementsMode = AspNetCompatibilityRequirementsMode.Allowed)] public class MovieService { // Add [WebGet] attribute to use HTTP GET [OperationContract] [WebGet(ResponseFormat = WebMessageFormat.Json)] public IList<Movie> GetMovies() { return Persistence.GetMovies(); } } }

  • Count max rectangles number, that can be placed inside character

    - by Nickolay
    Hi, I need a solution for quite complex problem. Exactly, I need to calculate the number of rectangles that can be placed inside letter/character with given size, considering that all rectangles are the same size, but it(the size) and the letter/character(of some regular specific font) itself can be changed by user(this will be used as webside calculator of signboard price). If describe this graphically, it looks like this. Any ideas or useful links will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance

Where do I go wrong? Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks. LE: the x and y coordinates of each particle are within the interval (0,size)

  • Sizing of a UITableViewCell

    - by Xetius
    I have created a UITableViewCell derived class which resizes itself to display at an indentation level. I have tried setting indentationLevel and indentationWidth using the following in the ViewControllers cellForRowAtIndexPath: cell.indentationLevel = [[item objectForKey:@"indent"] intValue]; cell.indentationWidth = CELL_INDENT_SIZE; This in itself does not indent the cell, so I am using the following layoutSubviews in the UITableViewCell: -(void)layoutSubviews { CGFloat indentSize = (self.indentationLevel - 1) * self.indentationWidth; CGRect r = containerView.frame; containerView.frame = CGRectMake (r.origin.x + indentSize, r.origin.y, r.size.width - indentSize, r.size.height); DLog(@"frameRect : %f, %f, %f, %f, %f",indentSize, r.origin.x, r.origin.y, r.size.width, r.size.height); [super layoutSubviews]; } This works fine for the initial layout, but when the cell is selected, it recalculates itself from the new dimensions and effectively shrinks the cell every time it is selected. How can I resize this cell so that it doesn't keep changing the layout.

For example if number is 6, * the method will return one of 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5. */ public int getRandomInt(int number) { return this.randomNumberGenerator.nextInt(number); } /** * student to write code and comment here for setLight(Circle) for Q4(i) */ public void setLight(Circle aCircle) { this.light = aCircle; } /** * student to write code and comment here for getLight() for Q4(i) */ public Circle getLight() { return this.light; } /** * Sets the argument to have a diameter of 50, an xPos * of 122, a yPos of 162 and the colour GREEN. * The method then sets the receiver's instance variable * light, to the argument aCircle. */ public void addLight(Circle aCircle) { //Student to write code here, Q4(ii) this.light = aCircle; this.light.setDiameter(50); this.light.setXPos(122); this.light.setYPos(162); this.light.setColour(OUColour.GREEN); } /** * Randomly sets the colour of the instance variable * light to red, green, or purple. */ public void changeColour(Circle aCircle) { //student to write code here, Q4(iii) if (getRandomInt() == 0) { this.light.setColour(OUColour.RED); } if (this.getRandomInt().equals(1)) { this.light.setColour(OUColour.GREEN); } else if (this.getRandomInt().equals(2)) { this.light.setColour(OUColour.PURPLE); } } /** * Grows the diameter of the circle referenced by the * receiver's instance variable light, to the argument size. * The diameter is incremented in steps of 2, * the xPos and yPos are decremented in steps of 1 until the * diameter reaches the value given by size. * Between each step there is a random colour change. The message * delay(anInt) is used to slow down the graphical interface, as required. */ public void grow(int size) { //student to write code here, Q4(iv) } /** * Shrinks the diameter of the circle referenced by the * receiver's instance variable light, to the argument size. * The diameter is decremented in steps of 2, * the xPos and yPos are incremented in steps of 1 until the * diameter reaches the value given by size. * Between each step there is a random colour change. Then prompts the user for the number of units * by which to increase the diameter of light. * Method then performs the requested growing and * shrinking cycles. */ public void runLight() { //student to write code here, Q4(vii) } /** * Causes execution to pause by time number of milliseconds */ private void delay(int time) { try { Thread.sleep(time); } catch (Exception e) { System.out.println(e); } } }

  • opengl 3d texture issue

    - by user1478217
    Hi i'm trying to use a 3d texture in opengl to implement volume rendering. Each voxel has an rgba colour value and is currently rendered as a screen facing quad.(for testing purposes). I just can't seem to get the sampler to give me a colour value in the shader. The quads always end up black. When I change the shader to generate a colour (based on xyz coords) then it works fine. I'm loading the texture with the following code: glGenTextures(1, &tex3D); glBindTexture(GL_TEXTURE_3D, tex3D); unsigned int colours[8]; colours[0] = Colour::AsBytes<unsigned int>(Colour::Blue); colours[1] = Colour::AsBytes<unsigned int>(Colour::Red); colours[2] = Colour::AsBytes<unsigned int>(Colour::Green); colours[3] = Colour::AsBytes<unsigned int>(Colour::Magenta); colours[4] = Colour::AsBytes<unsigned int>(Colour::Cyan); colours[5] = Colour::AsBytes<unsigned int>(Colour::Yellow); colours[6] = Colour::AsBytes<unsigned int>(Colour::White); colours[7] = Colour::AsBytes<unsigned int>(Colour::Black); glTexImage3D(GL_TEXTURE_3D, 0, GL_RGBA, 2, 2, 2, 0, GL_RGBA, GL_UNSIGNED_BYTE, colours); The colours array contains the correct data, i.e. the first four bytes have values 0, 0, 255, 255 for blue. Before rendering I bind the texture to the 2nd texture unit like so: glActiveTexture(GL_TEXTURE1); glBindTexture(GL_TEXTURE_3D, tex3D); And render with the following code: shaders["DVR"]->Use(); shaders["DVR"]->Uniforms["volTex"].SetValue(1); shaders["DVR"]->Uniforms["World"].SetValue(Mat4(vl_one)); shaders["DVR"]->Uniforms["viewProj"].SetValue(cam->GetViewTransform() * cam->GetProjectionMatrix()); QuadDrawer::DrawQuads(8); I have used these classes for setting shader params before and they work fine. The quaddrawer draws eight instanced quads. The vertex shader code looks like this: #version 330 layout(location = 0) in vec2 position; layout(location = 1) in vec2 texCoord; uniform sampler3D volTex; ivec3 size = ivec3(2, 2, 2); uniform mat4 World; uniform mat4 viewProj; smooth out vec4 colour; void main() { vec3 texCoord3D; int num = gl_InstanceID; texCoord3D.x = num % size.x; texCoord3D.y = (num / size.x) % size.y; texCoord3D.z = (num / (size.x * size.y)); texCoord3D /= size; texCoord3D *= 2.0; texCoord3D -= 1.0; colour = texture(volTex, texCoord3D); //colour = vec4(texCoord3D, 1.0); gl_Position = viewProj * World * vec4(texCoord3D, 1.0) + (vec4(position.x, position.y, 0.0, 0.0) * 0.05); } uncommenting the line where I set the colour value equal to the texcoord works fine, and makes the quads coloured. The fragment shader is simply: #version 330 smooth in vec4 colour; out vec4 outColour; void main() { outColour = colour; } So my question is, what am I doing wrong, why is the sampler not getting any colour values from the 3d texture? [EDIT] Figured it out but can't self answer (new user): As soon as I posted this I figured it out, I'll put the answer up to help anyone else (it's not specifically a 3d texture issue, and i've also fallen afoul of it before, D'oh!). I didn't generate mipmaps for the texture, and the default magnification/minification filters weren't set to either GL_LINEAR, or GL_NEAREST. Boom! no textures. Same thing happens with 2d textures.
