• subversion: getting rid of versioned ".svn" directory

  Hi there. I don't know exactly how it happened, but I have a versioned ".svn" directory in my repository. Don't ask me how it got there. If I tell svn to delete it, it does not want to, since .svn is a reserved argument. Force does not work. Any ideas?

  I know how to generate html documentation using Sandcastle and similar tools. But if I want to host the project on Google code, how can I easily publish the documentation straight into the Google project Wiki pages? I can see the SVN repository has a wiki folder which I assume maps to the project Wiki pages and I guess I can make a build step to build the documentation from the autodoc tags. But is there some tool that generates wiki compatible format from the code documentation tags?

• Is it possible to store only a checksum of a large file in git?

  I'm a bioinformatician currently extracting normal-sized sequences from genomic files. Some genomic files are large enough that I don't want to put them into the main git repository, whereas I'm putting the extracted sequences into git. Is it possible to tell git "Here's a large file - don't store the whole file, just take its checksum, and let me know if that file is missing or modified." If that's not possible, I guess I'll have to either git-ignore the large files, or, as suggested in this question, store them in a submodule.

  I want to create a simple script that tags the latest revision to the tags folder, for example: for Trunk directory head revision 114, it will create a tag of this directory to the Tags directory which goes by the name "r114". I don't really care of what scripting language it'll use (as long as it runs on windows). I tried creating such script using SVN CLI tool, but it failed connecting to a SSL repository.   I hear a lot of Emacs users have their init file under git version control and sync the git repository over Dropbox, when they run Emacs on multiple systems. Why would you use git in this situation exactly? Usually checking which system you're on and which things to load and set depending on that can happen in one and the same init file for all systems, right? So, isn't it simply enough to put your init file in a Dropbox directory and load that one directly from Emacs then?

• Email address as username in svn+ssh login?

  I need to allow access to an svn repository using email addresses as the user name. I can log in to the server over ssh no problem by changing the email address "@" to a "$" like so: ssh [email protected] Unfortunately, the same does not work for svn+ssh. This gets me nowhere: svn ls svn+ssh://[email protected]/home/accountname/data/svn/repos Anyone know how this is usually done?

• Getting "invalid XML in the response" while checking out my project from github

  I was trying to get fresh copy of my project from github using tortoise svn client. But I am getting following exception. The PROPFIND request returned invalid XML in the response: XML parse error at line 1: no element found (Checkout from https://github.com/anoopchaurasia/JavaScript-File-Manager.git) When I tried to checkout using subeclipse on Eclipse, it saying "Folder does not exist.". I am able to checkout same repository on my other system.

  I'm looking for a way to get all appenders attached to one logger instance. I tried: Hierarchy hierarchy = LogManager.GetRepository() as Hierarchy; hierarchy.GetAppenders() as per documentation this returns all appenders for all loggers currently configured. When I try this: LogManager.GetLogger("MyLoggerName").Logger.Repository.GetAppenders(); I get the same result. I would like to retrieve only appenders attached to one logger ("MyLoggerName" in this case) Were am i wrong? Thank you.

If coding is required, the only language I'm able to use on a linux server is PHP. So I could write a php script to be triggered by svn. How would one go about finding all duplicate files for a given tree? Would you have to walk the tree and look for duplicate hashes, or does git provide backlinks from each blob to all files in a tree that reference it?
