• Google Maps API limitations

  I am working on a project where I am going to create a map over a specific area, and have some points-of-interest included. Thinking of the ones already included in Google Maps. My first thought was that this could be done in the Google Maps API, but I've never worked with if before so therefor I have some questions about it's limitations and capability. Can I limit the map to one specific area? Can I filter the points-of-interest? Ex. only gas stations and hotels etc. Thats about it to get me started at least. Thanks!

• Facebook profile search using email address of a user

  Hello, If I have email address of a user, is there any way to find the profile of the user? I know it can be done using the uid and name of the user (GetInfo() or fql.query). The specific problem I am trying to address is when I search for a user using the name field, I end up getting multiple results (people with the same name). I have the email address of the user I want to search, so if I can search using email address, I will be able to reach to the specific user. Alternately, if there's a way to find uid for a given email address, I can get the user I am looking for. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!

I need this so I can create a loop to go through every record and add each one of it to the specific Array and display it later on.   Hello guys! I'm creating an application for my company. And the goal is to create a universal installer that will be checking user's registry for specific apps installed and according to these apps would create a list of available installation components in "Select Components" window. And that's the particular problem I'm stacked with. I've already created the installer, but a user have to check/uncheck components he doesn't need because he doesn't use specific app. That is definitely not a good way of doing thing I guess... So I'm asking for help, please. Could this be implemented through "Select Components" window and how or I should create custom wizard page with checkboxes (again - How)? Many thx in advance.

• Applying transformations to NSBitmapImageRep

  So ... I have an image loaded into an NSBitmapImageRep object, so I am able to examine the contents of specific pixels via a two dimensional array. Now I want to apply a couple of "transformations" to the image, in preparation for some additional processing. If I was manipulating the image manually, in Photoshop, I would: Rotate the image Crop a portion of it and discard the rest Apply a "threshold" transformation (which essentially converts the image to black and white, based on the threshold value I provide) Resample the image to shrink it down a bit (which, although losing some image quality, will speed up the subsequent processing) (not necessarily in that order) Are there objective C methods available to facilitate these specific image manipulations, with the data in the NSBitmapImageRep object? If so, can someone point me to some good examples?

• Ability to Choose From Multiple SQLite DBs for Iphone Application

  I am working on the design and implementation of an iPhone application ( a newbie, but I am getting the hang of it) where a person can download specific contact information about teachers based on their majors. The information is currently on different edu websites. And I have exported the information into SQLite databases. Is it possible to develop the application that when it is first initiated, it can give the user the option of which particular SQLite database they want for their application? Or if not, would it be better to merge all the DBs into one DB, and allow the user the option of downloading specific information from the SQLite db. I see that the db's can be downloaded into an app, but have yet to find a solution where there can be an option to download from different SQLite dbs. Thanks!

• JSON - Php/SQL iPhone APP Questions/Help

  Hey group, first time posting here I am somewhat new to the JSON/PHP/mySQL world, but been around iPhone designing for the past few years, though this topic of conversation is a while new area I am entering. I have done JSON iPhone examples that allow me to create a UITableView and display the JSON data into the TableViewCells (CustomCells) and displays the data (NSDictionary)into UILabels The problem I am having now, is that I want an APP that displays this information from the JSON into just a couple of UILabel's on a regular UIViewController and not a UITableView any help would greatly be appreciated, the example I used and learned for JSON and UITABLE was from http://tempered.mobi/%20 I used that example from my app, but incorporated a few other things like CUSTOM cells however now when the USER selects the specific CELL I want it to load specific data from another JSON file, and cannot get it to load in a UILabel or UITextView in a UIViewController HELP :-)

• how to verify that an old session is really destroyed?

  Um, this might sound a bit weird. We were having some problems with a specific browser under a very specific condition, and finally narrowed down the problem to the fact that we were not properly destroying the old sessions after doing session_regenerate_id(). I believe I have solved this problem by doing session_regenerate_id(true) now, but how does one verify that the previous sessions really do not exist any more? Someone suggested cURL but I cannot find my way around their docs. Sadly(?) the boss does not take 'it just works' for an answer so I'd really appreciate any advice!

• Is there an Objective-C algorithm like `transform` of the C++ STL?

  My goal is to have an array that contains all filenames of a specific extension, but without the extension. There's an elegant solution to get all filenames of a specific extension using a predicate filter and instructions on how to split a path into filename and extension, but to combine them I would have to write a loop (not terrible, but not elegant either). Is there a way with Objective-C (may be similar to the predicate mechanism) to apply some function to every element of an array and put the results in a second array, like the transform algorithm of the C++ STL does?

• Oracle: Finding Columns with only null values

  I have a table with a lot of columns and a type column. Some columns seem to be always empty for a specific type. I want to create a view for each type and only show the relevant columns for each type. Working under the assumption that if a column has ONLY null values for a specific type, then that columns should not be part of the view, how can you find that out with queries? Is there a SELECT [columnName] FROM [table] WHERE [columnValues] ARE ALL [null] I know I COMPLETELY made it all up above... I'm just trying to get the idea across. Thanks in advance!

But why must published messages be classes that do not have knowledge of their subscribers? It would seem that once the messaging system itself is in place, what typically changes as software evolves is the messages sent, the publishers and the receivers. Keeping the messages separate from the subscribers seems to imply that the subscription model might also change. Is this the reason? Also, does this occur in the real world? I realize this may be a basic question, but I'm trying to understand this paradigm and your replies are very much appreciated.

• Adding packages from different SVN repositories in a single project

  Hello all I am trying to create a project whose source code comes from 2 different SVN repositories. When I do the svn co pathToRepoA currentDirectory to checkout all the code from the 1st repo, it runs fine. Now, when I try to checkout some specific packages from the 2nd repo by doing svn co pathToRepoB/src/main/java/somespecificpackage currentDirectory/src/main/java/nameOfNewPackage into the same project, it gives me an error that the current directory is already a working directory of a different URL (which is an obvious error). How do I overcome this problem so that I can integrate code (some specific packages) from different repositories into a single project. Thanks!

  Hi, I'm wondering, is it possible to collect the height of a specific div container from a separate page with JavaScript? I'm using jQuery btw and I'm in need of comparing heights of div containers. Edit: To clarify a bit more, I load content from a specific div in a separate page using jQuery. This content is faded into a different container with dynamic height. But in the small fraction of time before the content arrives, it shrinks down to it's min-height. What I've done so far is collecting the height of the container before and after the load. But it only works after I've loaded content once. Because I don't have the height before it's been loaded the first time.

  I am doing device monitoring on a networked system. I need to know how to make Javascript calls on that device via its IP address to get certain status information (this device's status is only available through Javascript APIs, not SNMP, etc). I am working in Java. ADDED: The specific device is an Amino set-top-box. It has what it calls JMACX: JavaScript Media Access Control Extensions API specification. It allows you within an HTML document to use that API to get MUCH information about the device (cpu usage, channel info, remote-control options, etc.).
