  • it takes 2 seconds to compile a hello world C++ project in netbeans (windows)

    - by Ethan
I used code:blocks as the C++ IDE on Windows. I switched to netbeans 6.8 (with C/C++ plugin, MinGW, MSYS) recently, because netbeas have the nice feature of "checking syntax errors when typing" (same as working on Java or PHP projects). But the painful thing is that, it takes 2 seconds to compile a simple hello world project in netbeans. Any trick to make it as fast as code:blocks, or at least make the compiling time no more than 0.5 second?

  • Passing direct parameters to a Controller#method when testing via RSpec

    - by gmile
Normally to pass parameters via in RSpec we do: params[:my_key] = my_value get :my_method Where my_method deals with what it received from params. But in my controller I have a method, which takes args directly i.e.: def my_method(*args) ... end How do I call the method with those args from within the test? I've tried get :my_method(args) but Ruby interpreter complains about syntax error.

  • child objects in rdlc (Studio 2010RC)

    - by Jim
Hi, I am attempting to reference a sub-object in a field expression in a studio 2010 report. This used to work in prior versions. When account references another object with properties the following used to work. =Fields!Account.Value.Name (Name is a property of the child object, Account is the parent object) The same expression syntax no longer works. How do I reference the properties of a sub-object in reporting services in an rdlc in studio 2010. Thanks

  • Calling and writing javascript functions

    - by Ankur
I think I have not got the syntax correct for writing a javascript function and calling it to assign its return value to a variable. My function is: getObjName(objId){ var objName =""; $.ajax( { type : "GET", url : "Object", dataType: 'json', data : "objId="+objId, success : function(data) { objName = data; } }); return objName; } I am trying to call it and assign it to a variable with: var objName = getObjName(objId); However Eclipse is telling me that "there is no such function getObjName() defined"

  • How to get multiple counts with one SQL query?

    - by Crobzilla
I am wondering how to write this query. I know this actual syntax is bogus, but it will help you understand what I am wanting. I need it in this format, because it is part of a much bigger query. SELECT distributor_id, COUNT(*) AS TOTAL, COUNT(*) WHERE level = 'exec', COUNT(*) WHERE level = 'personal' I need this all returned in one query. Also, it need to be in one row, so the following won't work: 'SELECT distributor_id, COUNT(*) GROUP BY distributor_id'

  • What programming languages are good for statistics?

    - by Jason Baker
I'm doing a bit more statistical analysis on some things lately, and I'm curious if there are any programming languages that are particularly good for this purpose. I know about R, but I'd kind of prefer something a bit more general-purpose (or is R pretty general-purpose?). What suggestions do you guys have? Are there any languages out there whose syntax/semantics are particularly oriented towards this? Or are there any languages that have exceptionally good libraries?

  • add array element to row returned from sql query

    - by bert
    I want to add an additional value into an array before passing it to json_encode function, but I can't get the syntax right. $result = db_query($query); // $row is a database query result resource while ($row = db_fetch_object($result)) { $stack[] = $row; // I am trying to 'inject' array element here $stack[]['x'] = "test"; } echo json_encode($stack);

  • Bitwise operations in BC?

    - by user355926
$ bc BC> ibase=2 BC> 110&101 // wanna get 100 (standar_in) 8: syntax error Wikipedia informs that the ops are "|, & and ^". It may be that they work only in certain BC-types or I misread something.

  • drupal rules module - add fields to email

    - by bert
I am looking for the syntax to add node fields to the body of an email. Examples I looked at indicate the the format is: [content_type:content_type_title] However my email arrives with just the string : [content_type:content_type_title] Even better would be a PHP snippet that loads the node and dumps filed title and filed value into the body of the message.

  • Is incremental Macro definition possible?

    - by Davorak
I often find the following type of incremental definition useful: (define (foo) (display "bar")) (foo) ;prints bar (define foo (let ((bar foo)) (lambda () (display "foo") (bar)))) (foo) ;prints foobar How do I preform this type of incremental definition with macros? I could not get let-syntax to provide the same functionality. Currently I use plt scheme, but would like to see answers in different lisp implementations as well.

  • Is there a way to use rsync and exclude files greater than a certain size?

    - by milesmeow
I've checked out the man pages and did some searching but can't find info on ways to have rsync skip files greater than a certain size. We're doing rsync to an offline location and when someone puts a hug video file, the rsync jobs run into work hours. I've looked at the 'exclude' syntax and didn't see anything for excluding based on file size. Can I do it with rsync or should I look for other offline synching alternatives?
