Hi all,
for a project we will be doing webbased certificate enrollment, in Vista / Win7 combination with IE this gives some problems if the user does not import the root certificate first and then changes a lot of default IE settings (Enable ActiveX not marked safe for scripting etc....). I was wondering if any of you ever created a test VB or Javascript to test that all the settings are OK. So it can be used by the user before he starts the enrollment process....
greetings,
Tim
I often need to verify some simple code before posting, and it's great if I have installed IDE, but what if not? It would be nice to have online free tools for SQL, VB.NET, C# code validation, or maybe even testing.
EDIT
What I actually mean are online live web tools, like JSLint for javascript.
Have you seen any?
I'm currently writing SDK documentation for one of our products, but for obvious reasons I don't want to talk about the essentials of OOP. Does anyone know any good online teaching material that explain (aimed at absolute beginners) concepts such as classes, inheritance, constructors, instances etc.? Preferably urls that are likely to survive for a couple of years to come...
It's a DotNET SDK and we're including only VB and C# samples, so C++ or Delphi or Lisp material is not that useful.
I have a page where a text file is downloaded when I button is clicked. When that happens I would then like to direct the user to a confirmation/more details page.
I am using visual studio 2008 and it is VB.Net in 3.5
I know that dot net dlls and exe contain their assemblies with them so every body can extract code from it. so to tell me how can i create my own dotnet obfuscator and tell me if their exist any other way to protect my application to deassemble. and plez dont give me link of any paid obfuscator. i would prefer code sample in c# or vb.net
I came across some vb macros that export it to a mdb ( ms access ) file. But does not work very well when copying forward constraints , etc.
I want generate schema from the database diagram for sql server 2005 database.
Hi
This is a java noob related question. Have been looking at Liferay portal technology, however I'm a dotnet (c# or vb) developer by day. Does anyone know if you can use the install of liferay to host dotnet code, not just by using the iFrame method of redirecting to a different site - that just sucks in my opinion
Alternatively is the saner option to go down the port my skills back to java?
Thanks
Mark
Hello recently I've been a bit curious and wanted to make a browser. I'd like to use an existing engine though such as Gecko or Webkit. Are there any resources on the web for how to get started and any examples? Language choice doesn't really matter(but no VB please. That was the only example code I found)
I want to write a MyGeneration Template File in F#. I know you can target various languages etc VB.NET and C# however for my own selfish benefit I would like to write it in F#.
Anyone one if and how this is possible?
Hi,
I am a .NET developer with total experience of more than 5.5 years. I have worked on VB.NET, C#, ASP.NET 1.1, .NET 2.0.
Can I work as a freelancer? If yes, what is the procedure for the it?
What are dos and donts for freelancing ?
Can anyone guide me?
Any ideas how this can be done thru pure asp? I have various upload scripts, but they all either save a file to a folder or in a database. I can't seem to modify these examples correctly to put the file in an array.
Here's the 2 I'm currently using:

i have a string like this:
some_string = "A simple demo of SMS text messaging.\r\n+CMGW: 3216\r\n\r\nOK\r\n\"
im coming from vb.net and i need to know in c#, if i know the position of CMGW, how do i get "3215" out of there?
i know that my start should be the position of CMGW + 6, but how do i make it stop as soon as it finds "\r" ??

hi,
i have a web application in which i have a page named 'Data'.Many people will try to insert data into the table at a given time.So the reference no other than the primary key will get duplicated which should not be permitted.For inserting the data into the DB table, i am using a stored procedure in SQL.In my vb.net web application, i am using Business layer with enterprise library for calling the stored procedure.Now i want to lock the table for inserting so that when multiple user inserts, there wont be any complication.How can i do this?Please advice
Regards
Try running this in a .VBS file
MsgBox(545.14-544.94)
You get a neat little answer of 0.199999999999932!
This rounding issue also occurs unfortunately in Sin(2 * pi) since VB can only ever see the (user defined) variable pi as accurate as 3.14159265358979.
Is rounding it manually (and loosing accuracy) the only way to improve the result? What is the most effective way of dealing with this kind of problem?
Hi,
I have a DataEnvironment component in my VB 6 application. I cant configure the DataEnvironment connection to use trusted connection without ask me how to connect. I could set prompt to never appear, but it doesnt connect becouse it doesnt use trusted.
In this link you could see the screens of DataEnvironment Connection Options and the prompt.

How do I change a local user account password remotely using VB.NET/C#?
I have looked into the DirectoryEntry class and know how to add users to a group but cannot figure out how to change a (local) password.
I don't normally use VB, and even less vba for excel, but I'm writing a function inside a macro and seem to not understand even the basics of creating a function
For example
Public Function test() As Integer
return 1
End Function
This gives a compile error.
This is profoundly stupid, but how do I make a function return an integer in vba?
I'm using silverlight 3 and i'd like to create a handler and event wired up to a mouse click in a text box that was created in code behind. Can someone point me in the right direction.
I need to make it so that some things fire off when that textbox is clicked into.
if you have an example in vb.net that would be even better.
thanks

This seems like a fairly simple question, and I'm surprised not to have required it before.
What is the most efficient way of testing a string input is a numeric (or conversely Not A Number).
I guess I can do a Double.Parse or a regex (see below)
public static bool IsNumeric(this string value)
{
return Regex.IsMatch(value, "^\\d+$");
}
but I was wondering if there was a implemented way to do it, such as javascript's NaN() or IsNumeric() (was that VB, I can't remember).
Can someone explain the difference between a class and a module. When do you use one versus the other? I am using C#.
Update: I do mean the C# equivalent of the VB Module.
Oracle 9i has not BOOLEAN data type. CheckBoxes in ASP.NET are BOOLEAN controls are they not?
So using a CHAR(1) column with Y or N values in the Oracle table, how do I bind to a CheckBox or CheckBoxList or RadioButton or RadioButtonList control on an ASP.NET 2.0 web form?
I'm using VB, 'specially since I'm a noobie.
How can I use touchesbegan in a table's cell without having to subclass a whole cell. Something like addTarget..... which is available for a UIButton?
(in vb.net this would be like AddHandler I think)
