  • VS2008 -> VS2010 leads to cryptic STL errors

    The following C++ library was successfully compiled in VS2008 http://sourceforge.net/projects/xmlrpcc4win/files/xmlrpcc4win/XmlRpcC4Win1.0.8.zip/download When I open it in VS2010, it goes through the conversion wizard process without any errors. For instance, back_insert_iterator is in fact a member of std, but VS doesn't seem to think it is. How do I fix errors like these? They just don't seem to make much sense so I'm not sure where to begin. Perhaps its something in my project settings? For example, here is line 1018, which gives the std error: std::back_insert_iterator<BinaryData> ins = std::back_inserter(*(u.asBinary)); If anyone could give me some direction I'd appreciate it. I'm new enough to C++ that I'm having a tough time figuring out this one.

    I was seting up a wcf 4 service today with netTcpBinding, and I just couldn't get it to work. It was of course no problem getting basdicHttpBinding to work since little config is needed in WCF 4. I started wondering if it is even possible to get netTcpBinding working when debbuging through VS10. I'm hosting my service in a svc-file since I'm planning on hosting it in the IIS (7).

  • the scope of a pointer ???

    Ok, so I did find some questions that were almost similar but they actually confused me even more about pointers. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2715198/c-pointer-objects-vs-non-pointer-objects-closed In the link above, they say that if you declare a pointer it is actually saved on the heap and not on the stack, regardless of where it was declared at. Is this true ?? Or am I misunderstanding ??? I thought that regardless of a pointer or non pointer, if its a global variable, it lives as long as the application. If its a local variable or declared within a loop or function, its life is only as long as the code within it.

    Hello, I need to filter details of specific Type(i.e Custom Type) . DIA2Dump blindly dump everything as type. I need to give it specific custom type as string and as result need all data members(i.e data section of that class). Is there any specific function available in DIA SDK for this. say I have Custom type MyClass and it has 4 variables as data members i.e DWORD data, DWORD location, BOOL MachineType and FLOAT Price. Now I should be able to pass MyClass as in parameter and it should output as data members(listed above as data,location...) of this class. How..?? Regards Regards Usman

    I checked out a post similar to this but the linkage was different the issue was never resolved. The problem with mine is that for some reason the linker is expecting there to be a definition for the base class, but the base class is just a interface.   • For a .NET winforms datagridview I would like a combobox column to have a different set of values for each row.

    Hello, I have a DataGridView that I am binding to a POCO. I have the databinding working fine. However, I have added a combobox column that I want to be different for each row. Specifically, I have a grid of purchased items, some of which have sizes (like Adult XL, Adult L) and other items are not sized (like Car Magnet.) So essentially what I want to change is the DATA SOURCE for a combobox column in the data grid. Can that be done? What event can I hook into that would allow me to change properties of certain columns FOR EACH ROW? An acceptable alternative is to change a property when the user clicks or tabs into the row. What event is that? Seth EDIT I need more help with this question. With Triduses help I am SO close but I need a bit more information. First, per the question, is the CellFormatting event really the best/only event for changing the DataSource for a combo box column. I ask because I am doing something rather resource/data intensive, not merely formatting the cell. Second, the cellformatting event is being called just by having the mouse hover over the cell. I tried to set the FormattingApplied property inside my if-block and then I check for it in the if- test but that is returning a weird error message. My ideal situation is that I would apply change the data source for the combo box once for each row and then be done with it. Finally, in order to set the data source of the combobox colunm I have to be able to cast the Cell inside my if block to a type of DataGridViewComboBoxColumn so that I can fill it with rows or set the datasource or something. Here is the code I have right now.     When I try to open a project's CodeAnalysis page I get the error "An error occurred trying to load the page. Only TrueType fonts are supported. This is not a TrueType font." I also get a very simmilar ExceptionBox when I want to open the solution's propertywindow: "Only TrueType fonts are supported. This is not a TrueType font." Has anyone experiences with this error?

    We have a tool that generates some code (.cs) files that are used to build the project. The tool is run during the pre-build step, but the files are updated in the solution only after the build, which means the build needs to be performed twice to clear the errors after a change to the input. Example: Modify Tool Input File Run Build Tool Runs and changes source file Build Fails Run Build Tool Runs and changes source file (but it doesn's actually change, because the input remains the same) Build Succeeds Any ideas how we can do away with the double build, and still let our tool be run from VS?   • VS2010 always thinks project is out of date but nothing has changed

    I have a very simmilar problem as described here. I also upgraded a mixed solution of C++/CLI and C# projects from VS2008 to VS2010. And one C++/CLI project always runs out of date. Even if it has been compiled and linked just before and F5 is hit the messagebox "The project is out of date. Would you like to build it?" appears. My pdb settings are set to default value (suggested solution of this problem). Any ideas?

    Good day! My strongly typed resource classes acessible via Resources.<Name of resx file> in ASP.NET MVC2 project from /App_GlobalResources are not updated anymore. I've tried to right click on them and choose "Run custom tool" and got error: Cannot find custom tool 'GlobalResourceProxyGenerator' on this system.   • Unable to view dialog box in win ce

    I have a win32 application (over 100 source files large) which i need to port to Win CE. I disabled the unsupported functions (such as non client area functions) and compiled the code on a Win CE platform. Now when i run it on my hardware device, I was able to resize the first couple of dialog screens to show up satisfactorily on the LCD. However there is a dialog box that has 2 option buttons and opens a new dialog box based on the choice. I am unable to view the new dialog box. Also, the close (X) button of the parent dialog box is not there and instead shows a question mark (?). I tried resizing the dialog box in the win32 code's resource compiler and it still showed up fine thus telling me that the problem did not lie with the bitmaps. I think there might be some issue with hiding the first dialog box or opening 2 at the same time. please help me. I did not code the win32 version myself and hence i am unable to locate the problem.

    I downloaded the .NET 4 framework from miscrosoft here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=9cfb2d51-5ff4-4491-b0e5-b386f32c0992&displaylang=en I installed and rebooted. When I go to compile options -- target framework... .NET 4 isn't on the list. Is .net 4 not compatible with VS2008? It would be nice if Microsoft stated that somewhere...

  • Missing templates after re-installing VS 2008

    I installed VS 2008 and I installed .NET 3.5 SP1 and I got all templates. Then, I had to uninstall VS 2008 (please don't ask why) without uninstalling .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 or anything else. After that, I re-installed VS 2008 back, then I open up VS 2008 and found that when I add a new item the Entity Framework template is not among the list anymore. Could someone please help on how to resolve this problem? Thank you so much! Ray.

    Subject says it all. I want to modify the POCO generation adapter (http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/EFPocoAdapter) to generate my own code. I have the .tt adapters done, but I want to be able to distribute this to coworkers, so they right-click on the model, choose "Generate Code", and my t4 templates appear in the options along with the other choices. Is there an easy way to do this? I found some articles at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/tsyyf0yh(VS.80).aspx but it was focused on generic templates, and I'm looking for specifically model templates.

  • ASP.NET MVC 2 VB, Not recognising my import.

    I had a problem with a project I converted from C# to VB, in that the VB version it cannot seem to find an object even though I declared it with an Import statement at the top. I created a new, default MVC 2 VB project, and the same problem occurs there. I create a new MVC 2 application, I then add a reference to System.Data.Services.Client, and in my Index.aspx, in the Content area, I type <% Dim x As DataServiceQueryContinuation %> which is what I want to use. It gives me a blue squiggly line and says Type 'DataServiceQueryContinuation' is not defined. At the top of the page, I add this: <%@ Import Namespace="System.Data.Services.Client" %> The error persists. My original C# version has no such error. I also get this warning: Warning 2 Namespace or type specified in the Imports 'System.Data.Services.Client' doesn't contain any public member or cannot be found. Make sure the namespace or the type is defined and contains at least one public member. Make sure the imported element name doesn't use any aliases. e:\ASPNETDEBUG\MvcApplication1\MvcApplication1\Views\Home\Index.aspx 10 9 MvcApplication1 Examining the DLL using the tool provided shows that it does have a public member. Also when typing the above, System.Data. provides intellisense but there is no 'Services'. Any ideas?

    Creating extensions got much easier with Vs2010, but this seems not to be the case for everything... My aim: I wnat to make method calls and property uses of STATIC classes ITALIC. (Just like Eclipse and Java) I think I need to talk to the C# Language Service for this information, but searching for "Language Service" just yields results on how to CREATE one, not how to use one of the existing ones... To get this question a little more general: How do I get information about properties of the code (static/visibility etc) for using it in a VSX?
