  • Move samba and ldap config to new machine

    I'm not advanced administrator so this may be n00b question but I'll be grateful for help. I have following problem: I have to move my server (ubuntu server) from old machine to new. I have samba & ldap on old server, so I've copied the configuration files from the old machine to new machine, made smbldap-populate, and when I use smbldap-userlist on the new machine it lists all users from the old machine. But when I try to log in as any of these users, or show its id (id username) I get no such user error. What more I have to do to use these accounts on the new machnie?

  • Samba 'include' a per user config script

    It is possible to use the include = /somepath/%u.smb.conf in the global section to call a script /somepath/cb0.smb.conf if the user cb0 connects to the samba server. Unfortunately this does not wotk for me because testparm alway gives me Can't find include file /somepath/.smb.conf When I connect to the server I can enter a username and pass but it alway rejects the connection. I'm using Samba Version 3.2.5 How can I achieve to load a custom user script depending on the user that is connecting ?

  • Access 2 sites on same machine behind a router

    Hello, I have several machines on my lan. On of them is running 2 web sites, first_web_site and second_web_site (each one in a dedicated NameVirtualHost). Another machine is running another site third_web_site. I would like to be able to access each one, within internet, with the url: first_web_site.domain.tld second_web_site.domain.tld third_web_site.domain.tld knowing that 2 sites are on the same machine. Can Apache help me to do this ? I have a machine that will have a apache server to be used for proxy purposes. I was talk to set up virtualhost on this one and use proxy server but I do not know how to do this. Could you please give me hints ? Thanks a lot, Luc

  • Apache2 server does not start cannot pen shared object file

    I am working with Apache and Passenger for a Rails project. And a during a restart I got the following error Cannot load /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/passenger-2.2.11/ext/apache2/mod_passenger.so into server: /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/passenger-2.2.11/ext/apache2/mod_passenger.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory However there is no change in the apache configuration file. I have attached the snippet from the conf file 287 LoadModule passenger_module /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/passenger-2.2.11/ext/apache2/mod_passenger.so 288 PassengerRoot /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/passenger-2.2.11 289 PassengerRuby /usr/bin/ruby1.8 I am also unable to locate the shared object file in the location pointed to by the server though I am not really sure how the .so file is works (created/destroyed) I would also appreciate it if someone could explain to me what exactly has happened. I understand the shared object file is mission, what could be the reason it got deleted.

  • Port forwarding not working?

    I'm trying to set up an Apache Server to be accessed publicly. I'm using a Netgear R4500 router hooked up to a Motorola SB6121 modem. I can access my server on my computer by typing in my IP address. After following the instructions to forward port 80 so I can access the server from other computers, it does not work (see image). I get "This webpage is not available". I am forwarding to the IP address of my computer. Using this Network Port Scanner Tool, it says "80/tcp filtered http", which, as I understand it, means forwarding did not work correctly. In my Apache httpd file, I have: ServerName 192.168.1.13:80 and Listen 192.168.1.13:80 Anyone know what's wrong or have something I can try? click to enlarge

    I installed Apache with FastCGI (mod_fastcgi), suExec and PHP on my local development box. Working perfectly, expecting one thing. Let's say I have two users: user1 - /home/user1/public_html user2 - /home/user2/public_html I discovered a serious security hole in my configuration: I can include a file from user2 web root in user1 file. How to prevent? Any tips? php-cgi process is running under correct user.

    Okay. Im using the feared x64 Win7 retail. I tried soooo many clients/methods, but none of them worked. Finally after a long battle, I made TGB working. YAY! I only have problems with the configuration. What data I've got? group auth user+pw;3DES enc(saw it from the router cfg);user+password. And that's all. I tried using the TGB provided manual and the howtos on their site, but there is no instruction for the given model, and the other cisco type conf wont work.) I tried to configure it up, but its not that easy.. as I mentioned aldy. If anyone uses this app or knows how to configure it up... please..help me.

    In XP, I could go ToolsOptionsFile Types and modify descriptions, icons and actions. Does this still exist in Windows 7? I'm not finding anything explicitly saying so, but there are lots of recommendations to download assorted random software to do it. There must be a way to change this without having to use third party stuff?

  • Proxy auto-config dnsResolve doesn't seem to resolve subdomains

    We're running on a Windows domain, and have a DNS to control computer names on our intranet. The following PAC works great for basic hostnames on our intranet - but we're setting up some subdomain-like names (example, redesign.buildbox), and it isn't resolving these. These subdomains are resolvable through other means (such as nslookup). Other than checking to see if the host has ".buildbox" or other domain, is there a way to make it work?   • Apache returning text/html on some png files

    I have an Apache web server that has a sub folder for images. For some reason, a few of the .png files are returned as text/html and not as image/png. There is nothing indicating a permission problem and the files return with code 200 and with full size. I made sure that image/png is set and even tried forcing it with .htaccess Any idea where to look next? Edit: looks like an .htaccess configuration problem on a parent directory.

    I have some apache logs to process, and since the webserver behind two levels of reverse proxies, I am getting two IPs in the X-Forwarded-For header.. for example: 208.34.234.55, 127.0.0.1 - - [29/Oct/2009:21:38:13 -0500] "GET /monkey.html HTTP/1.0" 200 20845 0 0 "http://www.monkey.com/" "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.0.15) Gecko/2009101601 Firefox/3.0.15 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729)" Now, how do I filter this in Urchin (or remove this in Apache logging) so, 127.0.0.1 is removed from processing. Currently urchin is not able to recognize the multuple IP address so it does not log the remote IP

My server name is www.abc.com so in my vHost setting I have DocumentRoot /home/user/www.abc.com ServeName www.abc.com ProxyPass /app http://localhost:8080/app ProxyPassReverse /app http://localhost:8080/app The DocumentRoot has a static file index.html, which I would like to serve when www.abc.com is requested and all other requests should be directed to tomcat via the proxypass.     I am facing the following problem : I have downloaded Activiti BPM which runs under Apache. I have installed both; Java jre7 & Java jdk1.7.0_06. I set the JAVA_HOME to be C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.7.0_06. But when I try to run the Activiti BPM by typing the following in windows 7 command line : C:\activiti-5.10\activiti-5.10\setup>ant demo.start, the Tomcat server will start and the demo will build successfully, but if I try to navigate to the following link http://localhost:8080/activiti-explorer I get the following error : HTTP Status 404 - /activiti-explorer type Status report message /activiti-explorer description The requested resource (/activiti-explorer) is not available.     I am checking whether a particular apache module is installed using apache2ctl -M. When listing the modules, apache runs a syntax check on the configuration files which prints out "Syntax OK" if everything is fine. However, this message doesn't seem to be coming from STDOUT or STDERR as it shows even if all output is redirected to /dev/null. i.e. $ sudo apache2ctl -M Loaded Modules: core_module (static) log_config_module (static) ... Syntax OK $ sudo apache2ctl -M >/dev/null Syntax OK How is this being outputted, and is it possible to hide?

    I'm configuring a brand new HPC server and am interested in using SmartOS because of it's virtualization control and zfs features. Does this configuration make sense for a SmartOS HPC, or would you recommend an alternative? System Specs: 2x 8-core xeon 384 GB RAM 30 TB HDs with 2x512GB SSDs Uses: - zfs for serving data to different vms, and over the network; 1 SSD for L2ARC and 1 for ZIL - typically 1-2 ubuntu instances running R and custom C/C++ code My biggest concerns as a newbie to SmartOS and ZFS are: (1) will I get near-metal performance from ubuntu running on SmartOS if it is the only active vm? (2) how do I serve data from the global zfs pool to the containers and other network devices?

I said to them; To avoid caching it is best practice to use; <meta http-equiv="pragma" content="no-cache" /> <meta http-equiv="cache-control" content="no-cache" /> This should work across all browsers. Their reply was; We need to refresh javascript at runtime, this will not help us – any more ideas? I replied; Unsure what you mean by “refresh javascript at runtime”. If you are using ajax, browser caching can effect the XMLHttpRequest open method. Adding these meta tags to the source has fixed this for me in the past. Browser caching only caches resources, it should have no effect on site scripting. These meta tags will bypass browser caching. This is a reasonable request, isn't it?

Basically the structure of my App looks like this Headdirectory -- -APPBase -SomeMoreStuff -WWWDirectory .htaccess So i need to redirect into the WWWDirectory when i open the Headdirectory. In Apache its done with a htaccess and the following Content : RewriteEngine On RewriteRule ^(.*) www/$1 I already tried in Nginx : location /Headdirectory { rewrite ^/(.*) /www/$1; } And i tried to create an Alias but that didnt work...   • NGinX config for Django and Wordpress in subdirectory

    I need to set up a Django site at the root of a domain, but then have a Wordpress installation in a subdirectly (e.g. /blog/). How would one configure NGinX to do this? "Pretty" URLs have to work for Wordpress as well. For Django I am using Gunicorn, which is already configured. From NGinX I would call "proxy_pass" to direct to that. PHP is run via FPM. Considering the restrictions above, how would I configure NGinX? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.
