  • REST doesn't work with Sever-Client-Client setup

    I am having a problem with my current RESTful api design. What I have is a REST api which is consumed by Django web-server, which renders the HTML templates. REST api > Django webserver > HTML The problem I am encountering is that I have to reconstruct all the URLS like mysite.com/main/cities/<id>/streets/ into equivalent rest api urls on my web-server layer: api.com/cities/<id>/streets/ Thus I have a lot of mapping back and forth, but as far as I know REST says that the client (in this case my web-server) should NOT need to know how to re-construct the urls. Can REST be used for such a setup and how? Or is it only viable for Server-Client architecture. Thanks

    Hi, I am doing a really simple query in asp.net but after I inserted the LIKE clause it stops working. Example: String sql = " SELECT * FROM Products WHERE ID = @MYID AND Name LIKE '%@MYNAME%' "; SqlCommand command = new SqlCommand(sql, cn); If I removed the LIKE it works. Hence I am thinking its to do with the '' quotes? Thanks

Including strings, arrays, linked lists I suspect that the solution must use generics as the algorithm is working on a list of instances of T (there T is ... something). Version of C# isn't of interest, I guess the solution will be nicer if features from C# version 2.0 is used.

    I want to use a GPL'd library in my C# application, but not necessarily release my own code under the GPL. If I understand correctly linking against a GPL'd library using dynamic linking and not distributing the library in question means I can license my own app in any way I want (the users of my software would then be required to install the library themselves). Please correct me if I'm wrong. My question is: how can I link against a DLL this way in C#? Do I only need to use C#'s using directive and add the DLL as a reference to the compiler? Is the distribution of the resulting bytecode legal?

    I've read the docs, but I must be missing something. I've got a grid, I want to connect to the event that fires when the column headers are clicked for sorting, thus: dojo.addOnLoad(function(){ var grid = dijit.byId("grid"); dojo.connect(grid, "setSortInfo", 'afterSort'); }); function afterSort() { console.info('after sort'); } That works fine as far as it goes. I know the setSortInfo method has an argument which is the column number. How do I get that value? I've tried putting a parameter in the sig for afterSort to no avail. The docs say "the method receives the same arguments as the event", but where are they???

    I am trying to find out as to why youtube embeds works just fine on iPad, and not the embeds of any other video site.     Is there a way to use a LINQ expression to request a Count query from the Netflix oData service? The Netflix documentation shows that you can return counts by appending $count to a request for a collection, but a URL like this: http://netflix.cloudapp.net/Catalog/Genres/$count Is not generated from an expression like this: var count = (from g in catalog.Genres select g).Count(); The above code returns an error saying that the Count method is not supported. Is there a way to do this in LINQ, or do I just need to make WebClient request to get the value?
