• How to issue SQL Server lock hints in WCF Entity Framework?

  I'm just learning the WCF entity framework (and .net in general), and I'm running into a problem specifying lock hints in an embedded SQL query. I'm trying to specify a query that has lock hints in it (e.g., "SELECT * FROM xyz WITH(XLOCK, ROWLOCK)") and I keep getting errors from the runtime that the query syntax is not valid. The query works if I enter it directly into SQL Server. Is there some special syntax for lock hints when creating IQueryable result sets, or do I have to somehow mess with the transaction isolation level (probably not possible, as I need to specify different lock hints on a subquery within the main query).

• fstream stopping math.h from working

  I am creating a program in C++ in which I need to read a text file in. I have included the fstream header file, which allows me to open the file, but having added the include, I now receive countless errors relating to math.h functions. Examples: 1>c:\program files\microsoft visual studio 10.0\vc\include\cmath(19): error C2061: syntax error : identifier 'acosf' 1>c:\program files\microsoft visual studio 10.0\vc\include\cmath(19): error C2059: syntax error : ';' Is there any way I can include the text file reading functions of fstream without compromising the math.h functions? And why does this conflict occur anyway? /Edit/ It seems the errors are in the cmath standard header file. It is nothing I have access to, but for the sake of completion, here is the code that is causing the errors: using _CSTD acosf; using _CSTD asinf; using _CSTD atanf; using _CSTD atan2f; using _CSTD ceilf; (etcetera)

  Hello, I'm new to JavaScript so forgive me for being a n00b. When there's intensive calculation required, it more than likely involves loops that are recursive or otherwise. Sometimes this may mean having am recursive loop that runs four functions and maybe each of those functions walks the entire DOM tree, read positions and do some math for collision detection or whatever. While the first function is walking the DOM tree, the next one will have to wait its for the first one to finish, and so forth. Instead of doing this, why not launch those loops-within-loops separately, outside the programs, and act on their calculations in another loop that runs slower because it isn't doing those calculations itself? Retarded or clever? Thanks in advance!

C: Django build django docs Python26 I am doing the django site tutorial and when they say to write django-admin.py startproject mysite from my Python command line, I keep getting: Syntax error: invalid syntax >>>django-admin.py startproject mysite FILE "<stdin>", line 1 django-admin.py startproject mysite ^ My django-admin.py is in the django/bin folder. I installed Python via python setup.py. Am I suppose to use my window's CP? When I do that, I get window's can't open a .py file. I thought I was just creating a folder?   Hi, I'm making a simple cms system for a site I'm making for non-tech users to edit... So far so good but when I try and run this code I keep getting: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ''pages' ORDER BY 'pages'.'pageOrder' ASC LIMIT 0 , 30' at line 1 By the error it looks like a problem with the order by section and indeed it works without it... $sql = "SELECT * FROM 'pages' ORDER BY 'pages'.'pageOrder' ASC LIMIT 0 , 30"; $result = mysql_query($sql) or die(mysql_error()); Now I know there is nothing wrong with the code because originally I wrote my own SQL but then after it failed I robbed some from phpmyadmin and it still gives the error but it works in phpmyadmin... I'm really at my wits end with this, help is very much appreciated thank you...

  i am trying to replace all the special characters including white space, hyphen, etc, to underscore, from a string variable in tcl. I wrote the code below but it doesn't seem to be working. set varname $origVar puts "Variable Name :>> $varname" if {$varname != ""} { regsub -all {[\s-\]\[$^?+*()|\\%&#]} $varname "_" $newVar } puts "New Variable :>> $newVar" one issue is that, instead of replacing the string in $varname, it is replacing the data inside $origVar. No idea why, and also i read the example code (for proper syntax) in my tcl book and according to that it should be something like this regsub -all {[\s-][$^?+*()|\\%&#]} $varname "_" newVar so i used the same syntax but it didn't work and gave the same result as modifying the $origVar instead of required $varname value.

  What really surprises me is lack of some essential functionality in Finder, when one migrates from Windows to OS X. One of the things is a possibility to open an archive as a folder, i.e. staying in the directory tree and being able to drag and drop files from the archive to folders in the tree, sidebar etc. What would you do to enable such functionality? Update Path Finder is an awesome shareware app, which I am going to use instead of the standard Finder (as quite many Mac users do), so I am more interested in a plug-in for Path Finder to browse archives. There is a possibility to browse packages (check the View Options), so I believe it is possible to extend it to archives. There is also a SDK for making plugins for Path Finder. The only question - how to make the plugin, so all struggling people get finally happy?

• Problem with JPopupMenu in a JTree

  Hi guys I have this issue. In a custom JTree I implemented a JPopupMenu to display different JMenuItem according to the node selected using a MouseListener. The JPopupMenu is shown when the mouse right button is clicked. The problem is that if I don’t choose an Item from the PopupMenu but instead I select another node in the tree, either with right or left buttons, this event is never caught by the tree MouseListener Could anyone point me in the right direction to solve this? In case an example is available I’ll appreciate it. Thanks.

Are there CSS selectors that need access to DOM (Wikipedia SAX page says that XPath selectors "need to be able to access any node at any time in the parsed XML tree")? I am most inetersted in implementing selector combinators, e.g. 'A B' descendant selector. I prefer solutions describing algorithm, or in Perl.

  I am new at C programming. I thought when you type something like #define Const 5000 that the compiler just replaces every instance of Const with 5000 at compile time. Is that wrong? I try doing this in my code and I get a syntax error. Why can't i do this? #define STEPS_PER_REV 12345 ... in some function if(CurrentPosition >= STEPS_PER_REV) { // do some stuff here } The compiler complains about the if statement with a syntax error that gives me no details.

  I scripted the tables in my dev database using SQL 2008 - generate scripts option (Datbase-right click-Tasks-Generate Scripts) and ran it on the staging database, but the script throws the below error for each table Msg 102, Level 15, State 1, Line 1 Incorrect syntax near '('. Msg 319, Level 15, State 1, Line 15 Incorrect syntax near the keyword 'with'. If this statement is a common table expression, an xmlnamespaces clause or a change tracking context clause, the previous statement must be terminated with a semicolon. • Perl module for parsing natural language time duration specifications (similar to the "at" command)?

  I'm writing a perl script that takes a "duration" option, and I'd like to be able to specify this duration in a fairly flexible manner, as opposed to only taking a single unit (e.g. number of seconds). The UNIX at command implements this kind of behavior, by allowing specifications such as "now + 3 hours + 2 days". For my program, the "now" part is implied, so I just want to parse the stuff after the plus sign. (Note: the at command also parses exact date specifications, but I only want to parse durations.) Is there a perl module for parsing duration specifications like this? I don't need the exact syntax accepted by at, just any reasonable syntax for specifying time durations. Edit: Basically, I want something like DateTime::Format::Flexible for durations instead of dates.

• Directory layout for a Python project with C extension modules

  We have numerous projects in our organization that are mixed Python/C. Currently we're trying to standardize on a directory layout for our projects and are trying to come up with a convenient scheme. One point of contention is where to put C extension modules in the tree. We're tossing around a couple of options (relative to project root): ./src/package/subpackage/module.c or alongside the python modules in the package tree: ./package/subpackage/module.c or in a src directory in the subpackage: ./package/subpackage/src/module.c One reason for keeping them out of the package directories could be because it will lead to clutter, especially if there are other .c and .h files which aren't themselves modules but still need to be compiled. Also in the "integrated" scheme, what do you do with headers and files that are used by more than one module? Put them in a common top-level directory? I'd be interested to know what other people are using, or if there are any established best practices for this.

• Vim and clang_complete, how to explicitly compile my code

  I use Vim with clang_complete for omnicompletion. The plugin is automatically triggered when I need completion, e.g., after I type . or -> to access an object members or methods (see attached screenshot). The plugin works really nice, however I would need a way to trigger it manually (i.e. to compile my code for syntax checking). This is useful for two reasons: Static syntax checking Clear previous errors which have been fixed (which otherwise will remain in their buffer).   Hi, I'm in the middle of writing my project and I have this problem: I try to write a library and I want to use it in my application. In library I have a form with menu strip, tool bar, list view, tree view and etc. Everything in library is protected. In my application I have created the form which inherit form the library. I can change and add new functionality to list view and tree view using designer panel in VS 2008 but I don't have access to menu strip and tool bar, even though they are protected. Why is that so? I will be thankful for some advice.
