• Need help with an AJAX workflow

  Sorry I couldn't be more descriptive with the title, I will elaborate fully below: I have a web application that I want to implement some AJAX functionality into. Currently, it is running ASP.NET 3.5 with VB.NET codebehind. My current "problem" is I want to dynamically be able to populate a DIV when a user clicks an item on a list. The list item currently contains a HttpUtility.UrlEncode() (ASP.NET) string of the content that should appear in the DIV. Example: <li onclick="setFAQ('The+maximum+number+of+digits+a+patient+account+number+can+contain+is+ten+(10).');"> What is the maximum number of digits a patient account number can contain?</li> I can decode the string partially with the JavaScript function unescape() but it does not fully decode the string. I would much rather pass the JavaScript function the faq ID then somehow pull the information from the database where it originates. I am 99% sure it is impossible to call an ASP function from within a JavaScript function, so I am kind of stumped. I am kind of new to AJAX/ASP.NET so this is a learning experience for me.

  How would I go about doing this programatically? I am dynamically creating this grid based on the data, so I'm already added columns with one set of controls. But now I need to figure out how to show multiple images, which expand/contract if the groupImg image control is clicked (i just toggle the ul) .. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks.

• wamp cannot load mysqli extension

  WAMP installed fine, no problems, BUT... When going to phpMyAdmin, I get the error from phpMyAdmin as follows: "Cannot load mysqli extension. Please check your PHP configuration". Also, phpMyAdmin documentation explains this error message as follows: "To connect to a MySQL server, PHP needs a set of MySQL functions called "MySQL extension". This extension may be part of the PHP distribution (compiled-in), otherwise it needs to be loaded dynamically. Its name is probably mysql.so or php_mysql.dll. phpMyAdmin tried to load the extension but failed. Usually, the problem is solved by installing a software package called "PHP-MySQL" or something similar." • Converting table columns to key value pairs

  I am writing a PL/SQL procedure that loads some data from Schema A into Schema B. They are both very different schemas and I can't change the structure of Schema B. Columns in various tables in Schema A (joined together in a view) need to be inserted into Schema B as key=value pairs in 2 columns in a table, each on a separate row. For example, an employee's first name might be present as employee.firstname in Schema A, but would need to be entered in Schema B as: id=>1, key=>'A123', value=>'Smith' There are almost 100 keys, with the potential for more to be added in future. This means I don't really want to hardcode any of these keys. Sample code: create table schema_a_employees ( emp_id number(8,0), firstname varchar2(50), surname varchar2(50) ); insert into schema_a_employees values ( 1, 'James', 'Smith' ); insert into schema_a_employees values ( 2, 'Fred', 'Jones' ); create table schema_b_values ( emp_id number(8,0), the_key varchar2(5), the_value varchar2(200) ); I thought an elegant solution would most likely involve a lookup table to determine what value to insert for each key, and doesn't involve effectively hardcoding dozens of similar statements like.... insert into schema_b_values ( 1, 'A123', v_firstname ); insert into schema_b_values ( 1, 'B123', v_surname ); What I'd like to be able to do is have a local lookup table in Schema A that lists all the keys from Schema B, along with a column that gives the name of the column in the table in Schema A that should be used to populate, e.g. key "A123" in Schema B should be populated with the value of the column "firstname" in Schema A, e.g. create table schema_a_lookup ( the_key varchar2(5), the_local_field_name varchar2(50) ); insert into schema_a_lookup values ( 'A123', 'firstname' ); insert into schema_a_lookup values ( 'B123', 'surname' ); But I'm not sure how I could dynamically use values from the lookup table to tell Oracle which columns to use. So my question is, is there an elegant solution to populate schema_b_values table with the data from schema_a_employees without hardcoding for every possible key (i.e. A123, B123, etc)? Cheers.

• Crystal Reports Failed Database Login

  Hello, After spending a good 3 to 4 hours on google trying to find any solution to my problem I haven't had much luck. Basically, we use crystal reports for our .NET applications with a sql server back end, we have many clients each with their own server and so our reports need to have their connections dynamically set. Up until a week ago this worked fine. However a few days ago a client reported they were getting a database login prompt for a report (only one report, the rest worked fine). We were quite stumped but we managed to reproduce it on a netbook which didn't have visual studio or sql server installed. In the end the dev decided to reproduce the report in the hope it was just an oddity in that particular report. Unfortunately a new client today also experienced the same problem, but this time for every crystal report they had - and also they worked on the netbook, so we are really quite lost here. • PHP Shopping Cart Script - When to empty cart?

  Im working on a shopping cart script in php and need some advice on how to handle the final process. Once the customer has entered items into the cart, chosen shipping option, and then clicked the checkout button, they are then redirected to a paypal button which is dynamically generated using BMCreateButton. My question is, when is the best time to empty the customers cart? I have set up the auto return feature on paypal, which i was goin to use to then empty the cart, but its not very good as customers have to click a link in order to redirect. So should i empty it when they click the checkout button just before the dynamic button? • Generating a static website from a set of content data (possibly with webgen, webby or a similar too

  My company (an engineering firm) is looking to redesign their website with some dynamic content. We have a nice portfolio of projects that we'd like to present on our site by category. To elaborate, I'd like to have a "Projects Category" menu, where you can choose a sub-project category (such as churches, schools, etc) which links to a page with images of all projects which have been tagged with that category attribute. Clicking on an image would then take you to a detailed page for that project. I have done a good bit of asp and jsp page development, but I've always worked on the front end in an enterprise environment - I've never built a production site from the back end. The advice I've gotten so far is that a full-blown CMS solution would be somewhat overkill, as we won't have a large hit count, and we'll be displaying a few hundred projects at most. One big-picture choice I appear to have - whether to dynamically generate the pages (with asp or jsp) or to use a tool to generate a set of static html pages. The tool would build the menus, project summary pages, and individual project pages based on a set of data I could provide (in the form of a database or text file.) I'm leaning towards trying to use a tool like webgen or webby to statically generate the site due to our current web hosting situation. Any thoughts on which approach is more appropriate? Is webgen or webby capable of doing what I am trying to do? Or can anyone recommend other web authoring tools better equipped to accomplish this? Thanks for any feedback!

  Hi Everybody, I am using IBM-Informix for my school project as part of "Informix on-campus" ativity conduted by IBM. I am using spatial datablade to store spatial data. My spatial data table looks like, CREATE TABLE xmlTest (row_id integer NOT NULL,pre integer, post integer,parent integer,tagname varchar(40,1),point ST_POINT); Then I inserted the spatial data into the table. Now I am trying to select the 'Points' lying under given 'polygon', where the co-ordinates of the polygon are dynamic i.e co-ordinates will be decided in the 'select' query. My query is like SELECT v2.* FROM xmlTest v1,xmlTest v2 WHERE ST_Contains(ST_Polygon(ST_LineFromText('linestring (0 0, 22000 0,22000 22000,0 22000,0 0)',5)),ST_Point(v1.pre,v1.post,5)) AND v1.tagname like 'n1' AND ST_Contains(ST_Polygon(ST_LineFromText('linestring (0 0,v1.pre 0,v1.pre v1.post,0 v1.post,0 0 )',5)),ST_Point(v2.pre,v2.post,5)) AND v2.tagname like 'n2' however it is giving me error as "(USE31) - Too few points for geometry type in ST_LineFromText.", in the second linefromtext function. I checked the number of parameters for linestring function, but could not find the source of error. I think,linestring function's parameters should be fixed values and not the variable like in this query. Is it right? Then what is the alternate way, where I can specify my polygon co-ordinates dynamically? or is there any mistake in my query? I hope my question is clear. I appreciate your help!

• Force compile-time linking of all classes in a SWC

  Using Flash CS4, I am making a game that has a dozen or so sounds and a couple of music tracks. To cut down on publish/compile time, I have moved the sounds and music into an (external) SWC, which is located in a "Library Path" for the project. This works, but with a caveat... Until before I externalised the assets, I had been dynamically instantiating the Sound objects of the embedded sound by getting their classes with getDefinitionByName. // something like... var soundSubClass:Class = Class(getDefinitionByName(soundClassName)); var mySound:Sound = new soundSubClass(); But now that they're located in an external SWC, I need to have "concrete" references to the classes in order to load them like this, otherwise they are not included in the published SWF, and there is a runtime error when getDefinitionByName tries to get a class that doesn't exist. So, my question: in Flash Professional CS4, is there any way to force a library's assets to be included, regardless of whether they are statically linked? FlashDevelop has a compiler option "SWC Include Libraries", which is exactly what I want, and is distinct from the "SWC Libraries" option. The description of the "SWC Include Libraries" option is "Links all classes inside a SWC file to the resulting application SWF file, regardless of whether or not they are used." (Also, it's important to me that all the assets are contained within the one compiled SWF. Linking at runtime isn't what I'm after.)

• How can I create a dynamic LINQ query in C# with possible multiple group by clauses?

  I have been a programmer for some years now but I am a newcomer to LINQ and C# so forgive me if my question sounds particularly stupid. I hope someone may be able to point me in the right direction. My task is to come up with the ability to form a dynamic multiple group by linq query within a c# script using a generic list as a source. For example, say I have a list containing multiple items with the following structure: FieldChar1 - character FieldChar2 - character FieldChar3 - character FieldNum1 - numeric FieldNum2 - numeric In a nutshell I want to be able to create a LINQ query that will sum FieldNum1 and FieldNum2 grouped by any one, two or all three of the FieldChar fields that will be decided at runtime depending on the users requirements as well as selecting the FieldChar fields in the same query. I have the dynamic.cs in my project which icludes a GroupByMany extension method but I have to admit I am really not sure how to put these to use. I am able to get the desired results if I use a query with hard-wired group by requests but not dynamically. Apologies for any erroneous nomenclature, I am new to this language but any advice would be most welcome. Many thanks Alex

• Converting a Linq expression tree that relies on SqlMethods.Like() for use with the Entity Framework

  I recently switched from using Linq to Sql to the Entity Framework. One of the things that I've been really struggling with is getting a general purpose IQueryable extension method that was built for Linq to Sql to work with the Entity Framework. This extension method has a dependency on the Like() method of SqlMethods, which is Linq to Sql specific. What I really like about this extension method is that it allows me to dynamically construct a Sql Like statement on any object at runtime, by simply passing in a property name (as string) and a query clause (also as string). Such an extension method is very convenient for using grids like flexigrid or jqgrid.   Hi All, I want to achieve the following aspects in the software I am building: 1. Customizable entity model 2. Customizable UI 3. Customizable workflow I have thought about an approach to achieve this, I want you to review this and make suggestions: Entity objects should be plain objects and will hold just data Separate Entity model and DB Schema by using an framework (like NHibernate?). This will allow easy modification of entity objects. Business logic to fetch/modify entities has to be granular enough so that they can be invoked as part of the workflow. Business objects should not hold any state, and hence will contain only static methods The workflow will decide depending upon the "state" of an entity/entities which methods on business object/objects to invoke. The workflow should obtain the results of the processing and then pass on the business objects to the appropriate UI screen. The UI screen has to contain instructions about how to display a given entity/entites. Possibly the UI has to be generated dynamically based on a set of UI instructions. (like XUL) What do you think about this approach? Suggest which existing frameworks (like NHiberante, Window Workflow) fit into this model, so that I will not spend time on coding these frameworks Also suggest is there any asp.net framework that can generate dynamic asp.net ajax pages based on a set of UI instructions (like Mozilla XUL)? I have recently been exploring Apache Ofbiz and was impressed by its ability to customize most areas of the application: UI, workflow, entities. Is there any similar (not necessarily an ERP system) application developed in C#/.Net which offers a similar level of customization? I am looking for examples of applications developed in C# that are highly customizable in terms of UI, Workflow and Entity Model

• Getting minimum - Min() - for DateTime column in a DataTable using LINQ to DataSets?

  I need to get the minimum DateTime value of a column in a DataTable. The DataTable is generated dynamically from a CSV file, therefore I don't know the name of that column until runtime. Here is code I've got that doesn't work... private DateTime GetStartDateFromCSV(string inputFile, string date_attr) { EnumerableRowCollection<DataRow> table = CsvStreamReader.GetDataTableFromCSV(inputFile, "input", true).AsEnumerable(); DateTime dt = table.Select(record => record.Field<DateTime>(date_attr)).Min(); return dt; } The variable table is broken out just for clarity. I basically need to find the minimum value as a DateTime for one of the columns (to be chosen at runtime and represented by date_attr). I have tried several solutions from SO (most deal with known columns and/or non-DateTime fields). What I've got throws an error at runtime telling me that it can't do the DateTime conversion (that seems to be a problem with Linq?) I've confirmed that the data for the column name that is in the string date_attr is a date value.

• Problem with JMX query of Coherence node MBeans visible in JConsole

  I'm using JMX to build a custom tool for monitoring remote Coherence clusters at work. I'm able to connect just fine and query MBeans directly, and I've acquired nearly all the information I need. However, I've run into a snag when trying to query MBeans for specific caches within a cluster, which is where I can find stats about total number of gets/puts, average time for each, etc. The MBeans I'm trying to access programatically are visible when I connect to the remote process using JConsole, and have names like this: Coherence:type=Cache,service=SequenceQueue,name=SEQ%GENERATOR,nodeId=1,tier=back It would make it more flexible if I can dynamically grab all type=Cache MBeans for a particular node ID without specifying all the caches. I'm trying to query them like this: QueryExp specifiedNodeId = Query.eq(Query.attr("nodeId"), Query.value(nodeId)); QueryExp typeIsCache = Query.eq(Query.attr("type"), Query.value("Cache")); QueryExp cacheNodes = Query.and(specifiedNodeId, typeIsCache); ObjectName coherence = new ObjectName("Coherence:*"); Set<ObjectName> cacheMBeans = mBeanServer.queryMBeans(coherence, cacheNodes); However, regardless of whether I use queryMBeans() or queryNames(), the query returns a Set containing... ...0 objects if I pass the arguments shown above ...0 objects if I pass null for the first argument ...all MBeans in the Coherence:* domain (112) if I pass null for the second argument ...every single MBean (128) if I pass null for both arguments The first two results are the unexpected ones, and suggest a problem in the QueryExp I'm passing, but I can't figure out what the problem is. I even tried just passing typeIsCache or specifiedNodeId for the second parameter (with either coherence or null as the first parameter) and I always get 0 results. I'm pretty green with JMX — any insight on what the problem is? (FYI, the monitoring tool will be run on Java 5, so things like JMX 2.0 won't help me at this point.)

  I am looking for a way to format a floating point number dynamically in either standard decimal format or scientific notation, depending on the value of the number. For moderate magnitudes, the number should be formatted as a decimal with trailing zeros suppressed. If the floating point number is equal to an integral value, the decimal point should also be suppressed. For extreme magnitudes (very small or very large), the number should be expressed in scientific notation. Alternately stated, if the number of characters in the expression as standard decimal notation exceeds a certain threshold, switch to scientific notation. I should have control over the maximum number of digits of precision, but I don't want trailing zeros appended to express the minimum precision; all trailing zeros should be suppressed. Basically, it should optimize for compactness and readability. 2.80000 - 2.8 765.000000 - 765 0.0073943162953 - 0.00739432 (limit digits of precision—to 6 in this case) 0.0000073943162953 - 7.39432E-6 (switch to scientific notation if the magnitude is small enough—less than 1E-5 in this case) 7394316295300000 - 7.39432E+6 (switch to scientific notation if the magnitude is large enough—for example, when greater than 1E+10) 0.0000073900000000 - 7.39E-6 (strip trailing zeros from significand in scientific notation) 0.000007299998344 - 7.3E-6 (rounding from the 6-digit precision limit causes this number to have trailing zeros which are stripped) Here's what I've found so far: The .toString() method of the Number class does most of what I want, except it doesn't upconvert to integer representation when possible, and it will not express large integral magnitudes in scientific notation. Also, I'm not sure how to adjust the precision. The "%G" format string to the String.format(...) function allows me to express numbers in scientific notation with adjustable precision, but does not strip trailing zeros. I'm wondering if there's already some library function out there that meets these criteria. I guess the only stumbling block for writing this myself is having to strip the trailing zeros from the significand in scientific notation produced by %G.

  I make a jquery .ajax call and I'm expecting a json result. The catch is, if there are say 5 authors, I'll get author_details_0, author_details_1, author_details_2, etc.... How can I dynamically construct the name of the variable to retrieve from json ? • ildasm and dynamic exe files

  Hi There, I am trying to create an application can modify properties in IL to create a slightly different executable. E.g Client A runs app and a label on the WinForm label Reads "Client A:". Client B runs the app and Label Says "Client B". Easy I know using config files or resource files but thats not an option for this project. The Main program needs to be able to generate .exe file dynamically based on some form fields entered by user. My solution was to create a standalone executable that contained all the elements which I needed to make dynamic. I then used ildasm to generate the IL and thought that I could use this IL and substitute tags for the elements i wanted to make dynamic. I could then replace those tags at runtime after user filled the form using regex etc. The problem is, the if i re save the IL file generated by ILDASM as an exe and try to run it. I just launches console and does nothing. Am I going about this the wrong way? I didnt want to delve into Reflection as the dynamic .exe is a really simple one and I thought reverse engineering IL with ildasm would be the quickest way. You thoughts and pointers are much appreciated. Tony

• NSPopupButton bound to NSArrayController not updating

  I've got an NSPopupButton bound to an NSArrayController. (Man, that was harder than I thought it would be!) I have an NSArrayController bound to an NSMutableArray via the NSArrayController's "Controller Content" binding. The "Content" and "Content Values" bindings of the NSPopupButton are bound to my NSArrayController, and "Selected Object" is bound to a member in my app delegate. It is working as I expect. Except, when I add items to the NSMutableArray that my NSArrayController is bound to they don't appear in the popup. I kind of expected this to work automagically... with the NSArrayController observing the NSMutableArray and updating the NSPopupButton as necessary. Clearly I am missing something. [Update] Ok, clearly I am adding items to my array in a way that the array controller can't see. I finally found this... https://developer.apple.com/library/mac/documentation/cocoa/conceptual/CocoaBindings/Concepts/Troubleshooting.html But I really don't understand what it means. Does anyone know of a simple example of the proper way to dynamically added items to a bound NSMutableArray when the "adder" has no idea that there is a UI element bound to the array? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

• Single Form with Multiple Dynamic Buttons

  I've spent hours/days trying to figure this out and now I'm completely perplexed so I thought I'd give stackoverflow a try. I'm (a newb) working in Java/JSP using Eclipse hosting on Google App Engine trying to develop an app for a volunteer organization I'm a member of. Rather than embarrass myself by showing my current code I'd love just a nudge in the right direction. I have a form (which doubles as a report basically) showing "people" grouped under the "task" they are currently working on. I would like to select multiple people from multiple tasks and reassign them to another task e.g. Bill and Jane are Gardening, Jeff is Painting. I want to select Jane and Jeff (all people have an associated checkbox in the form) and re-assign them to Sweeping (which is a task on the form but has no people assigned to it yet). Ideally, the re-assignment to Sweeping would be via a Sweeping button (each task would have a dynamically-created task button) that would pass the "Sweeping" value to a servlet along with an array or list of people whose checkbox has been checked. The servlet would handle the request (creating an Assignment "object/entity" with timeStamp, personId, taskId) and then re-direct back to the form/report which would then repaint with the current tasks/people generated from the Assignments class in the datastore. All the tasks are user-defined and retrieved from the database when building the form. Ditto the people. I've been trying to keep the jsp for presentation and the servlets for the processing but I'm no purist and would just like to get unstuck. Many thanks in advance for your assistance.

• Best approach, Dynamic OpenXML in T-SQL

  hello, i'm storing XML values to an entry in my database. Originally, i extract the xml datatype to my business logic then fill the XML data into a DataSet. I want to improve this process by loading the XML right into the T-SQL. Instead of getting the xml as string then converting it on the BL. My issue is this: each xml entry is dynamic, meaning it can be any column created by the user.   Hello, My user model has three relations for the same message model, and is using raw SQL :/ Is there a better more rails way to achieve the same result? Could the foreign key be changed dynamically? e.g User.messages.sent (foreign key = author_id) and User.messages.received (foreign key = recipient ) I have been trying to move some of the logic into scopes in the message model, but the user.id is not available from the message model... Any thoughts? • Accessing an iFrame's dom from a Firefox Extension

  Hi all, I've spent a long time trying different things to get this to work but nothing does and documentation is not helping much. I'm trying to populate a form inside an iframe that I dynamically inject into a page. To inject that iframe I do: myObject.iframe = document.createElement("iframe"); myObject.iframe.setAttribute("src", data.url); myObject.iframe.setAttribute("id","extension-iframe"); myObject.window.document.getElementById('publisher').appendChild(myObject.iframe); myObject.iframe.addEventListener("load", function(){ myObject.populate(data); }, false); which works fine and DOES trigger the populate() method. My problem is getting the document or window objects for that iframe. I've tried all of the following: myObject.iframe.window myObject.iframe.document myObject.iframe.content but these are all undefined. I also tried passing the event object to that iframe's load event listener and then doing: event.originalTarget But that didn't work either.
