  So we had real FLV video file. we had devided it into 3 parts (more or less equal, not looking into structure orcontext). We have taken second part and forgot about first 2. The program itself has a GUI designed in Perl/Tk, so they don't have to worry about the command prompt. Could I write out a quick batch file that goes along the lines of: START perl 'C:\[some path here]\myscript.pl' with START to start a program, the perl interpretor as my program, and the path/name of my perl script as the parameter? Would I have to specify where to find perl or would Windows just know because perl is in the computer's PATH variable? Thanks for the help!

  Hi there, Using Python 3.1.2 I am having a problem sending binary attachment files (jpeg, pdf, etc.) - MIMEText attachments work fine. In this file, it should execute a SQL command or a SQL file on my database, so I can create an index and see what the performance of that input is, but how do i do it? I create the connection to the database in the reads.py file, but it's hard to create the queries in there because I doesn't keep track of which file it has reached, it just execute commands from what the parameters are. I hope I've explained myself clear enough, otherwise please let me know. I just want to execute a SQL command or file which each query_read_0x.py file. Sincerely Mestika

• UnicodeDecodeError on attempt to save file through django default filebased backend

  When i attempt to add a file with russian symbols in name to the model instance through default instance.file_field.save method, i get an UnicodeDecodeError (ascii decoding error, not in range (128) from the storage backend (stacktrace ended on os.exist). If i write this file through default python file open/write all goes right. All filenames in utf-8. • Batch file to wait for other program to load/initialize, then execute command?

  I need some assistance writing what should be a fairly basic .BAT file. I load my main program, but that program takes ~20secs to load and be initialized. I have another command-line API I can execute to interact with this above program, but obviously until the above program is loaded and initialized there's no point in trying. If the program isn't running the command-line API returns a string stating exactly this - otherwise it just works and exits. Easy. So I want to wait until the above is loaded/initialized before firing my API command(s) at it. I could place a sleep/wait in there, but I want something more solid. The ~20sec wait is not necessarily consistent. Any way to execute the command-line API over and over until the response is satisfactory, then exit? J

• Simplest Way to Process Basic HTTPS GET File Requests?

  All I need to do is download some basic text-based and image files from a web server that has a self-signed SSL certificate. I have been trying to figure out how to use HttpClient to do this, but getting the SSL to work is a nightmare that seems to be way too much trouble for such a simple task. Is there a better way to perform these file downloads? Perhaps through a WebView or Browser feature? Reinventing the wheel of making a simple HTTPS GET request is a major pain, and is significantly holding up my development schedule.

• Reading a .dat file as "rb" read binary

  I have a web-accessible php script that accesses a folder above the webroot (not web accessible) called \folder\. This is done via setting the path to \folder\ in .htaccess the usual way so that \folder\ becomes part of the project. \folder\ contains a .php script (communicates with the web-accessible script inside the webroot) some .inc files (used by the .php in the same folder, above the webroot) a dat file (used by the .inc in the same folder, above the webroot) All files are accessible to each other as needed: the web-accessible php inside the webroot can communicate with the php above the webroot the php above the webroot can communicate with the inc in the same folder But the inc above the webroot can't communicate with the dat in the same folder, and I have no idea why that's the case The inc myinc.inc is supposed to open the dat mydat.dat in the same folder like this fopen('mydat.dat', "rb"); but I get an error that no file called mydat.dat exists inside \folder\myinc.inc. Of course it does not, the .dat is sibling to .inc and is not supposed to be inside it. Why is php expecting to find the .dat file inside the .inc. The stranger thing is that if I move the .dat in the web-accessible folder, it becomes readable now. Any ideas why php is trying to find the .dat inside the .inc?

• FILE* issue PPU side code

  We are working on a homework on CELL programming for college and their feedback response to our questions is kinda slow, thought i can get some faster answers here. I have a PPU side code which tries to open a file passed down through char* argv[], however this doesn't work it cannot make the assignment of the pointer, i get a NULL. Now my first idea was that the file isn't in the correct directory and i copied in every possible and logical place, my second idea is that maybe the PPU wants this pointer in its LS area, but i can't deduce if that's the bug or not. So... My question is what am i doing wrong? I am working with a Fedora 7 SDK Cell, with Eclipse as an IDE. Maybe my argument setup is wrong tho he gets the name of the file correctly. • For a .Net project, what file extensions should I exclude from source control?

  Everytime I start a project I have to think carefully about which files to exclude from source control. Has someone made a list of the criteria so I can look it up from the beginning? I work on my own so I have not got round to it. I appreciate that in the case of a DLL, you would want to include some and exclude others, so it is not just dependent on the file extension. My projects are ASP.Net, although a general discussion of other templates would also be useful.

How reliable is to implement that check like this? Try to acquire a lock on a file (w/ FileChannel) If succeeds, keep lock and continue execution If fails, exit and refuse to run the main body I am aware of software like the Tanuki wrapper, however, I'm longing for a simpler(maybe not portable) solution. Regarding PIDFILE(s): I want to avoid using them if possible, as I don't have administrative rights on the machine, neither knowledge in AIX's shell programming.

  I have a FileSystemWatcher monitoring a directory that receives TIF files from a scanning device. Its necessary to check if the scanning process is done and then read a multipage TIF file, otherwise, the FileSystemWatcher will raise the event before the file be fully scanned. I have something like: private void OnFileCreated(...) { while(IsFileLocked(path)) Thread.Sleep(time); // OK to read } This is what is happening: - Scanner creates the file - FileSystemWatcher detects the file, but its in use - Scanner reads the first page to the file - Scanner releases the file - My code leaves the while(FileInUse(path)) - My code reads the incomplete file (problem) - Scanner adds more pages to the file Let's say the scanner is scanning 100 pages, then, when "OK to read", the file will be incomplete (99 pages left). So, its necessary to know if the file is complete or not. Maybe waiting some time to see if the file is modified, but this time span can be up to hours, because the scanner can get idle scanning the same TIF. Other solution would be checking some flag in the TIF file that indicates that the file is not complete(I've looked for this but don't found anything).

  Is using .h as a header for a c++ file wrong? I see it all over the place, especially with code written in the "C style". I noticed that Emacs always selects C highlighting style for a .h header, but c++ for hpp or hh. Is it actually "wrong" to label your headers .h or is it just something which annoys me? EDIT: There is a good (ish) reason why this annoys me, if I have project files labelled, 'hpp & cpp' I can get away with 'grep something *pp' etc. otherwise I have to type '.h cpp'
