• OpenCV to use in memory buffers or file pointers

  The two functions in openCV cvLoadImage and cvSaveImage accept file path's as arguments. For example, when saving a image it's cvSaveImage("/tmp/output.jpg", dstIpl) and it writes on the disk. Is there any way to feed this a buffer already in memory? So instead of a disk write, the output image will be in memory. I would also like to know this for both cvSaveImage and cvLoadImage (read and write to memory buffers). Thanks! My goal is to store the Encoded (jpeg) version of the file in Memory. Same goes to cvLoadImage, I want to load a jpeg that's in memory in to the IplImage format.

• Drupal: Multiple Stylesheets

  I'm currently creating a custom Drupal theme for my company and I'm having trouble getting multiple stylesheets to load. I followed the instructions on this page by adding stylesheets to the .info file in the format: stylesheets[all][] = style.css stylesheets[all][] = name2.css etc... However, when I load the page nothing changes and when I view source, it consistently lists style.css but seems to ignore the others. Am I misunderstood in the process of adding additional stylesheets? What could I be doing incorrectly? Thanks for any help!

• Can a CWinApp be placed in a DLL?

  I'm updating some legacy apps to Visual Studio 10 and am in linker hell. All of these DLLs derive classes from CWinApp and use AfxGetApp() to get access to the object. When I link the DLLs I get unresolved externals that look like global static objects that would get pulled in by a normal app's main(): Shell.lib(SHELL.obj) : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol "public: static struct CRuntimeClass const CException::classCException" (?classCException@CException@@2UCRuntimeClass@@B) Shell.lib(SHELL.obj) : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol "public: static struct CRuntimeClass const CFrameWnd::classCFrameWnd" (?classCFrameWnd@CFrameWnd@@2UCRuntimeClass@@B) Shell.lib(SHELL.obj) : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol "public: static class CRect const CFrameWnd::rectDefault" (?rectDefault@CFrameWnd@@2VCRect@@B) My current combination of ignore default libraries and additional libraries (the method you can easily google to find the answer to linker hell) is: msvcprtd.lib,mfc100d.lib,mfcs100d.lib,libcmtd.lib When I add nafxcwd.lib (the mfc library), these three external symbols resolve but I end up with a bunch of other duplicate symbols (requiring the use of /FORCE:MULTIPLE) and in end __argc and __argv become unresolved. So the basic question is: Can you link a DLL containing a CWinApp in VS10? How do you setup the linker to do it?

  I'm trying to learn Drupal 6. I want to register the path '/topic' to a MENU_CALLBACK using hook_menu(). But when I visit the path as an anonymous user it shows 'Access Denied' message. What must be the 'access callback' and 'access arguments' values to have this accessible to all visitors? I remember I made this work by simply saying 'access' => TRUE in Drupal 5. No longer works in Drupal 6.

• Print Several Outlook MailItems

  I have a pst that has a bunch of emails I want to print using the Microsoft Document Image Writer so that I have a folder, //lawyers/ediscovery/emails/ that has 00001.tiff 00002.tiff etc. In Word or Excel, I can pass the Workbook or Document a filepath to the PrintOut method, but the Outlook MailItem interop's PrintOut doesn't take any arguments, instead only uses the default printer's attributies. I don't have time to type the Bates number for every email (thousands to tens of thousands). Any help on how to tell Outlook where to print to?

• .NET Process.Start() on an executable on a remote system - security warning?

  I've created a Windows Service that accepts commands from remote machines via WCF. One of those commands is to run a specified executable (let's ignore the security implications of such functionality). In my Service I am using Process.Start() to run the executable. All works well if the executable is local to the machine, but if it is on a remote file share it is failing with no error (or more accurately just hanging). I suspect the problem is that it is triggering the standard Windows 'Unverified Publisher' warning that one would see if they double click an exe on a remote system. Is there any way I can bypass this from my service so that I can truly run any executable? As I said I understand the security implications of allowing it to run any executable, but this is really what I need. I would have thought this warning was only a user mode concept, but it really does seem to be getting in the way of my Service. Ideas?

• Case insensitive string compare in LINQ-to-SQL

  I've read that it's unwise to use ToUpper and ToLower to perform case-insensitive string comparisons, but I see no alternative when it comes to LINQ-to-SQL. The ignoreCase and CompareOptions arguments of String.Compare are ignored by LINQ-to-SQL (if you're using a case-sensitive database, you get a case-sensitive comparison even if you ask for a case-insensitive comparison). Is ToLower or ToUpper the best option here? Is one better than the other? I thought I read somewhere that ToUpper was better, but I don't know if that applies here. (I'm doing a lot of code reviews and everyone is using ToLower.) Dim s = From row In context.Table Where String.Compare(row.Name, "test", StringComparison.InvariantCultureIgnoreCase) = 0 This translates to an SQL query that simply compares row.Name with "test" and will not return "Test" and "TEST" on a case-sensitive database.

• TortoiseSVN shows red ! decorator for folder, but no files within it are marked with !

  I'm new to SVN. I'm using the latest version (svn 1.6.9, TortoiseSVN 1.6.7.18415). Some folders who a red exclamation point next to them. If I drill down, I find a sub folder with ! as well but no files within that are marked with ! (all are either a green checkmark or no icon (because they are Ignored (like .exe files) . What I've tried: Cleanup {reported success} Add {reports nothing to add. All files either under version control has been ignored per the .ignore property. Commit {succeeds} SVNupdate {succeeds} Restarted computer. Some oddities: -I had a bunch of CVS folders (these files were copied over from a PC that was using CVS but we don't need that version history so I didn't import it into SVN). I deleted those CVS\ folders and they are showing up (as unversioned files) when I CheckIn. Any ideas?

• How to loop an executable command in the terminal in Linux?

  Let me first describe my situation, I am working on a Linux platform and have a collection of .bmp files that add one to the picture number from filename0022.bmp up to filename0680.bmp. So a total of 658 pictures. I want to be able to run each of these pictures through a .exe file that operates on the picture then kicks out the file to a file specified by the user, it also has some threshold arguments: lower, upper. So the typical call for the executable is: ./filter inputfile outputfile lower upper Is there a way that I can loop this call over all the files just from the terminal or by creating some kind of bash script? My problem is similar to this: Execute a command over multiple files with a batch file but this time I am working in a Linux command line terminal. Thank you for your help, Luke H

• ora-00939 error in reporting services, SSRS

  Hi, I have an SSRS report , Oracle is my backend and am using this following query for dataset of my second parameter. select distinct X from v_stf_sec_user_staffing_center usc where usc.center_group_id in ( select distinct center_group_id from V_T_STAFFING_CENTER_GROUP scg where INSTR(','||REPLACE(:PI_REGION_LIST,' ')||',', ','||scg.group_abbreviation||',') 0) and usc.nt_user_name=:PI_NT_USER_NAME Here PI_REGION_LIST is a multivalued parameter of string type. and PI_NT_USER_NAME is a default string valued parameter this query works fine when i try to execute in manulally in the Data tab , also in the Oracle tool. But when i run the report in SSRS and select more than 3 values for the parameter PI_REGION_LIST the report throws an error on this dataset, ora-00939 error,too many arguments for function. I am not able to figure out the error here. Please help me with an idea. Thanks in advance, Suni.

• ASP.net MVC 2.0 using the same form for adding and editing.

  I would like to use the same view for editing a blog post and adding a blog post. However, I'm having an issue with the ID. When adding a blog post, I have no need for an ID value to be posted. When model binding binds the form values to the BlogPost object in the controller, it will auto-generate the ID in entity framework entity. When I am editing a blog post I DO need a hidden form field to store the ID in so that it accompanies the next form post. Here is the view I have right now. <% using (Html.BeginForm("CommitEditBlogPost", "Admin")) { %> <% if (Model != null) { %> <%: Html.HiddenFor(x => x.Id)%> <% } %> Title:<br /> <%: Html.TextBoxFor(x => x.Title, new { Style = "Width: 90%;" })%> <br /> <br /> Summary:<br /> <%: Html.TextAreaFor(x => x.Summary, new { Style = "Width: 90%; Height: 50px;" }) %> <br /> <br /> Body:<br /> <%: Html.TextAreaFor(x => x.Body, new { Style = "Height: 250px; Width: 90%;" })%> <br /> <br /> <input type="submit" value="Submit" /> <% } %> Right now checking if the model is coming in NULL is a great way to know if I'm editing a blog post or adding one, because when I'm adding one it will be null as it hasn't been created yet. The problem comes in when there is an error and the entity is invalid. When the controller renders the form after an invalid model the Model != null evaluates to false, even though we are editing a post and there is clearly a model. If I render the hidden input field for ID when adding a post, I get an error stating that the ID can't be null. Any help is appreciated. EDIT: I went with OJ's answer for this question, however I discovered something that made me feel silly and I wanted to share it just in case anyone was having a similar issue. The page the adds/edits blogs does not even need a hidden field for id, ever. The reason is because when I go to add a blog I do a GET to this relative URL BlogProject/Admin/AddBlogPost This URL does not contain an ID and the action method just renders the page. The page does a POST to the same URL when adding the blog post. The incoming BlogPost entity has a null Id and is generated by EF during save changes. The same thing happens when I edit blog posts. The URL is BlogProject/Admin/EditBlogPost/{Id} This URL contains the id of the blog post and since the page is posting back to the exact same URL the id goes with the POST to the action method that executes the edit. The only problem I encountered with this is that the action methods cannot have identical signatures. [HttpGet] public ViewResult EditBlogPost(int Id) { } [HttpPost] public ViewResult EditBlogPost(int Id) { } The compiler will yell at you if you try to use these two methods above. It is far too convenient that the Id will be posted back when doing a Html.BeginForm() with no arguments for action or controller. So rather than change the name of the POST method I just modified the arguments to include a FormCollection. Like this: [HttpPost] public ViewResult EditBlogPost(int Id, FormCollection formCollection) { // You can then use formCollection as the IValueProvider for UpdateModel() // and TryUpdateModel() if you wish. I mean, you might as well use the // argument since you're taking it. } The formCollection variable is filled via model binding with the same content that Request.Form would be by default. You don't have to use this collection for UpdateModel() or TryUpdateModel() but I did just so I didn't feel like that collection was pointless since it really was just to make the method signature different from its GET counterpart.   I'm trying to implement a function that generates dynamic queries for MNesia. For example, when function is called with these arguments; dyn_query(list, person, [name, age], ["jack", 21]) I want to query MNesia to list items whose name is "jack" and age is 21 in person table. I've tried to implement this by using qlc:q(ListComprehension) and qlc:string_to_handle("ListComprehension"). First failed because of compile errors, compiler didn't let me to use functions instead of ListComprehentions and variables instead of record names like "Item#Table.Member". Second failed, because erl_eval couldn't handle records and throwed exceptions like {undefined_record, person}. Which method should I use? How could i solve these problems? Or should I use a different method? Thanks.

I am writing a program that will solve a type of min. spanning tree problem. i have 2 different algorithms that I've gotten working in two separate .cpp files i've named kruskels.cpp and prims.cpp. my question is this: each file takes the following command line to run it . time ./FILENAME INPUTFILE FACTOR i would like to make a program that, depending on what inputfile is entered, will run either kruskels.cpp or prims.cpp. how can i do this? this program must pass those command line arguments to kruskels or prims. each file (kruskels.cpp and prims.cpp) are designed to be run using those command line arugments (so they take in INPUTFILE and FACTOR as variables to do file io). this should be for c++.

• Disappearing Inlineshapes

  I frequently edit files that have numerous inlineshapes, one per paragraph. One of the edits I make is to eliminate "double" paragraph marks either using Search and Replace or a simple macro that performs the same operation (e.g., search for "^p^p" and replace with "^p"). This operation works fine in Word 97-2003 documents (.doc), but when I try it on .docx documents, I lose all of the inlineshapes. The .docx files seem to ignore the inlineshape, therefore seeing the paragraphs containing them as "empty". Search and Replace sees "^p^p", replaces it with "^p", and the graphic goes away. Any thoughts on how to work around this?

  I'm working through O'Reilly's "Learning Python" and having a problem with classes. I think I understand the concept, but in practice have stumbled upon this problem. Fron page 88-89: >>> class Worker: def __innit__(self, name, pay): self.name=name self.pay=pay def lastName(self): return self.name.split()[-1] def giveRaise(self, percent): self.pay*=(1.0+percent) Then the book says "Calling the class like a function generates instances of a new type ...etc" and gives this example. bob = Worker('Bob Smith', 50000) This gives me this error: TypeError: this constructor takes no arguments. • for a single-table inheritance in rails, how do I know the 'type' when creating a record?

  I have several models which are very similar: Contact_Emails, Contact_Letters, Contact_Calls -- and I think life could be easier making them into a Single Table Inheritance called Contact_Event. However, the way I have it set up now is when something is created for a Contact_Email, I have a dedicated controller that I call and know that I am passing the arguments that are approrpriate. For example, new_contact_email(contact, email). I then have: Emails.find(email.contact_id), etcera, all very specific to that Model. I'm not sure how I extract the class/models to use. For example, I currently have the following because I have separate controllers for each model: def do_event(contact, call_or_email_or_letter) model_name = call_or_email_or_letter.class.name.tableize.singularize link_to( "#{model_name.camelize}", send("new_contact_#{model_name}_path", :contact => contact, :status => 'done', :"#{model_name}" => call_or_email_or_letter ) ) end What I really want is to: link_to("#model_name.camelize}", send("new_contact_event_path(contact,call_or_email_or_letter)"

  This is probably a very silly question (I just started learning Prolog a few hours ago), but is it possible to find all the clauses related to an atom? For example, assuming the following knowledge base: cat(tom). animal(X) :- cat(X). , is there a way to obtain every possible information about tom (or at least all the facts that are explicitly stated in the base)? I understand that a query like this is not possible: ?- Pred(tom). so I thought I could write a rule that would deduce the correct information: meta(Object, Predicate) :- Goal =.. [Predicate, Object], call(Goal). so that I could write queries such as ?- meta(tom, Predicate). but this does not work because arguments to call are not sufficiently instantiated. So basically my question is: is this at all possible, or is Prolog not design to provide this kind of information? And if it is not possible, why?

  Hi, I have a csv importing system on my app (used locally only) which parses the csv file line by line and adds the data to the database table. There is a relationship that courses HABTM years and years HABTM courses. In the csv file (effectively in row[5] to row[8]) are the year_id s. Is there a way that I can add this within the method above. I am confused as to how to loop over the 4 items and add them to the courses_years table. Thank you Jack

• Good way to make Authentication and Authorization information available between application layers

  I have a web application running on Google App Engine (GAE) for JAVA. I'm authenticating the client at the Servlet layer but would like to make the client information available to my business and data layers without having to pass the client object through the arguments of every single function. I'm considering setting up a "session" type object using ThreadLocal. That way any function can just say something like: CurrentUser.getRoles(); Is this a good way to do this or is there something else that is a more accepted solution? Thanks!
