    Is it possible to use SSL with Visual Studio Development Server (a.k.a. Web Application project)? I don't want to have to deploy IIS locally if possible. I'm running Windows 7.     I have installed both IIS and SQL Server 2005 on my laptop. Both work individualy, however when I try to connect to an DB from an ASP page I keep getting the following error: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005' [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Cannot open database "DB1" requested by the login.     I created a web application in which one .aspx page calls an AJAX-enabled WCF service (created with Visual Studio 2008 Add New Item - AJAX-enabled WCF Service). when I test the application in Visual Studio, it works and the page can call the service from Javascript but when I "publish" (code precompilation using Visual Studio) it to the local IIS Server, I get an error : "service ThunServ is undefined" in my .html page. I've been spending quite a time to solve this problem but to no avail. Attarea.

    I would like to serve xbaps from the VS web dev server (cassini) to Firefox, but when served from the dev server, Firefox offers to download this file. As far as I can tell, this is because the dev server is serving the xbap file with a mime type of "application/octet-stream" instead of "application/x-ms-xbap", which works when served from IIS. Does anyone know how to change the mime type which the dev server uses for *.xbap files?

  • Asp.net url rewriting and domain redirection

    I have a domain "test.com" and I want this domain to redirect to "mydomain.com/test". I'm with 1and1 for my domain test.com and with discountAsp for mydomain.com. In the control panel of 1and1 you can set a redirection from a domain to another domain, so everything is fine. But when i'm on the page mydomain.com/test I want my url to be rewritten as test.com Is this possible to do that with IIS or in my asp.page (would prefer in my page) I'm using iis7 Thanks

    While giving permissions to the 'defaultAppPool' user I am getting the message 'There is no such global user or group: DefaultAppPool.' Can anyone help me here! However, using command 'net localgroup "Performance Monitor Users" DefaultAppPool /add' I am able to resolve the error but i am facing this problem in Windows Server 2003/IIS 6.0. Here, I am always prompted as 'There is no such global user or group: DefaultAppPool.' I have also added the 'Network Service' but no avail.

    I've found what seems like a bizarre problem with IIS 6.0 and .NET 3.5. I always use the tilde for all URLs (eg: ~/mypage.aspx) so if I go to mydomain.com/mypage.aspx, everything works fine. If, however, I add a trailing slash and go to mydomain.com/mypage.aspx/, all links on the page which use the tilde get rendered as mydomain.com/mypage.aspx/otherpage.aspx instead of mydomain.com/otherpage.aspx. This happens with all controls. Has anyone had this issue before?

    I want to be able to track the amount of data that is being transfered from my web site to each user that accesses the site. I can do this for file downloads and such but what about the pure html content itself. How can I track the output size of a page (or the data that's trasnfered via an AJAX call) to the client and log it against a particular users session? Also how would this differ when GZip is used in IIS 6.0?

    I wonder how long will an ASP.NET (MVC) application run, when no new requests come in? Lets say I'm using an IOC Container ans have a Singleton Object serving to the clients. As far as I know it will serve different page requests. But how long will it live when no new request come in? Is there any timeout (maybe configured through IIS) that says when my app will shut down?
