  • Replace Javascript click event with timed event?

    - by Rik
    Hi, I've found some javascript code that layers photos on top of each other when you click on them. Rather than having to click I'd like the function to automatically run every 5 seconds. How can I change this event to a timed one: $('a#nextImage, #image img').click(function(event){ Full code below. Thanks <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function(){ $('#description').css({'display':'block'}); $('#image img').hover(function() { $(this).addClass('hover'); }, function() { $(this).removeClass('hover'); }); $('a#nextImage, #image img').click(function(event){ event.preventDefault(); $('#description p:first-child').css({'visibility':'hidden'}); if($('#image img.current').next().length){ $('#image img.current').removeClass('current').next().fadeIn('normal').addClass('current').css({'position':'absolute'}); }else{ $('#image img').removeClass('current').css({'display':'none'}); $('#image img:first-child').fadeIn('normal').addClass('current').css({'position':'absolute'}); } if($('#image img.current').width()>=($('#page').width()-100)){ xPos=170; }else{ do{ xPos = 120 + (Math.floor(Math.random()*($('#page').width()-100))); }while(xPos+$('#image img.current').width()>$('#page').width()); } if($('#image img.current').height()>=300){ yPos=0; }else{ do{ yPos = Math.floor(Math.random()*300); }while(yPos+$('#image img.current').height()>300); } $('#image img.current').css({'left':xPos,'top':yPos}); }); });

  • How to use dd to make splitted ISO images from an storage device?

    - by Gustavo Bandeira
This is a double question, I just hope it's valid. I need to know how to use dd to make splitted ISO images from some storage device, I'm doing it through SSH: the process is slow and the risk of faling at the mid of the operation (1) is high then I need to know how to make these splitted ISO images from my storage device. (2) I'm searching for some reference on dd, it could be a book or a good website about it for when any doubt arises. 1 - I'm doing it on a ~60GB storage device, it took me a whole day to copy ~10GB from this disk. 2 - For curious people, I'm trying to recover an accidentaly deleted file from an iPod, until now I've been able to make the whole process, I just need to improve it beucase I left it copying the disk yesterday: Today it gave me an error when it was at ~10GB.

  • PXE bootable image for terminal server?

    - by HeavenCore
We have 300 windows xp machines on cruddy old hardware across the company. With extended support for XP ending April next year we're looking into our options. Couple of options: Replace the 300 PC's with full windows 7 PC's (£100k +?) - no use of terminal server (our current model) Replace the 300 PC's with off the shelf thin clients & make use of our terminal server - Cheaper clients but Terminal Server CALS required? Keep the 300 PC's, replace windows XP with linux thin client capable of connecting to our terminal server - no hardware costs, just Terminal Server CALS required? Keep the 300 PC's - remove hard drives and make use of a PXE bootable "thin client" to connect to our terminal server If we were to choose option 4, what our the options out there? Is there any official PXE bootable thin clients for terminal server out there? If so, what are the licence requirements? Is there options we haven’t considered? There must be lots of companies out there in this situation - curious what the current trend is for this problem? Edit: Option 5 - Create a bootable Windows PE image with RDP auto start and use that as a "thin client" for our terminal server - is Windows PE licence free in such a model?

  • Windows Image Backup - renamed folder now restore cannot find any backups

    - by Schneider
A while back I decide to create a couple of Windows Image Backups of my workstation at various points during installation from clean. While doing this I decided to rename the folders containing the VHDs from 'Backup <Date>' to something else of my choosing. I didn't bother testing at the time that the restore still worked. Now I come to use these backups for doing a bare metal restore to a different computer. The problem is restore cannot 'see' any of the backups. So I have deduced that maybe I need to rename them back to the 'Backup <Date>' pattern unfortunately I cannot determine the exact values that would have originally been used here. I have tried by best guest but the images still cannot be found. I have tried doing both a network and a usb hdd restore. No luck on either. P.S. I know I can retrieve files from within the VHDs, the problem is I am trying to save myself time of reinstalling lots of big applications... not trying to recover data.

  • Using native resolution on external display results in stretched, out of bounds image

    - by Roni Yaniv
I have an HP min 311 netbook with Windows XP, which I've connected to a Samsung SyncMaster 2043BW display via the supplied analog cable. The external display's native res is 1680x1050, which the netbook's ION GPU supports. I've configured the external display as the single display (no cloning or any such fancy stuff). However, once I set the native res, the image just stretches out. It looks squashed, and it goes outside the monitor's edges. In contrast, lower resolutions manage to stay within the monitor's display edges, though obviously they are skewed in some way (vertically or horizontally). BTW, the only res which seems to be displayed relatively clearly (it's the least blurry) is 1280x720. I tried looking all over the web for an explanation/advice but could not find any. I already played with the settings on the external display itself several times. So either it's not that, or I missed something. Has someone run into this issue? I need help.

  • How do you prefer to handle image spriting in your web projects?

    - by Macy Abbey
It seems like these days it is pretty much mandatory for web applications to sprite images if they want many images on their site AND a fast load time. (Spriting is the process of combining all images referenced from a style sheet into one/few image(s) with each reference containing a different background position.) I was wondering what method of implementing sprites you all prefer in your web applications, given that we are referring to non-dynamic images which are included/designed by the programming team and not images which are dynamically uploaded by a third party. 1. Add new images to an existing sprite by hand, create new css reference by hand. 2. Generate a sprite server-side from your css files which all reference single images set to be background images of an html element that is the same size of the image you are spriting once per build and update all css references programmatically. 3. Use a sprite generating program to generate a sprite image for you once per release and hand insert the new css class / image into your project. 4. Other methods? I prefer two as it requires very little hand-coding and image editing.

  • custom facebook connect image - Is it facebook's policy violation?

    - by Viruthagiri
I was going to change facebook's default login button with my custom image like mashable I mean like this But I found a article which state its against facebook's policies Is it really a violation? If it is how come mashable using custom image? Can someone answer me? Update This is the exact image i would like to use. Facebook mentioned like this in this page. While you may scale the size to suit your needs, you may not modify the “f” logo in any other way (such as by changing the design or color). If you are unable to use the correct colour due to technical limitations, you may revert to black and white. So my sign in with facebook image violating facebook policy in anyway?

  • bootmgr image is corrupt

    - by bacord
I just replaced my HD with a SSD. I did a brand new install on the SSD and I received the following error after booting BOOTMGR image is corrupt. The system cannot boot. A little configuration for your knowledge. The system used to be a dual boot with XP & windows 7. After replacing the original startup HD with my SSD I changed a setting in the bios to AHCI (I have tested changing it back but this did not help). When I look at the stats on the drive in the bios, it claims that the SSD is in a raid configuration despite the settings not being configured that way. Related System Information: Intel 320 Series 80 GB Sata II SSD JetWay JPA78VM3-H-LF AM2+/AM2 AMD 780V HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard AMD Athlon 64 X2 7 GB ram I have performed 2 fresh installs to no avail. Also, followed this guide and performed option 1 and 2. I have done bootsec/fixmbr and /fixboot. So.. any suggestions?

  • Why Google asks for "Title" for MIME type "image/*" in Google Webmasters?

    - by Saeed Neamati
In my Google Webmasters account, in Optimization section, under HTML improvements I see that Google has indexed more than 100 links complaining that these links has no Title associated with them (Missing title tags). However, these links all result in thumbnails of images and they are served as MIME type (Internet Media Type) of "image/png", or "image/jpg", etc. What's wrong here? How should I tell Google that an image can't have a title tag? Note: An example link can be see here.

  • Temporary background image while the big one is loading? [migrated]

    - by Mikhail
Is there a way, without javascript, to load a small image for a background before the real image is downloaded? Without javascript because I know how to do it with it. I can't test if the following CSS3 would work because it works too quick: body { background-image:url('hugefile.jpg'), url('tinypreload.jpg'); } If the tinypreload.jpg is only, say 20k, and the hugefile.jpg is 300k -- would this accomplish the task? I assume that both downloads would start at the same time instead of being consecutive.

  • Server 2003 Remote Desktop loses its virtual printer image of the local printer

    - by Charles Hart
Server 2003 Remote Desktop provides service to stores served by several ISPs. The server loses its virtual printer image of the local printer (as seen from the remote store site) and a copy of the original local printer appears on the local computer with a different driver without notice. Specifically: A remote desktop session is opened on a local computer that has a Brother HL2140 USB printer connected and the associated software installed with a correct driver shown under the “advanced” button. The server has the same Brother software and driver. An application that is running on the server attempts to print on the local printer connected to the local computer running Vista Pro or XP Pro. Either it works correctly (Good) or it does not print (Bad) or it prints on another Local Printer connected to another local computer logged into the server (Bad and Odd). When it doesn’t print (or prints somewhere else) we ask the customer to look for the (virtual) printer using the Remote desktop view of the server and the printer is gone. Then we ask the customer to look at the printers folder in the local computer. There are several possibilities: The printer is there, but the driver is mysteriously changed in the drop down to MDX something; we have the customer select the other (proper) Brother driver, and all is well again, as now after the change, the virtual printer in the server (which now matches the local printer) appears again, and so printing can resume. A “copy” of the printer mysteriously appears in the local printer’s folder and after we delete it the virtual printer in the server appears again and so printing can resume. Note that in both case 1 and 2, the server sometimes sends the print job elsewhere, to some other local computer. Meanwhile in the log file, endless errors are reported and the server eventually crashes, sometimes twice a day. I’m puzzled what changes the local printer driver and I’m puzzled what loads the copy 2 or copy 3 of the printer in the local printer folder. This entire description randomly occurs on any of 40+ local computers in eight different locations in different ISPs, all sharing one Domain.

  • Oracle Solaris Zones Physical to virtual (P2V)

    - by user939057
IntroductionThis document describes the process of creating and installing a Solaris 10 image build from physical system and migrate it into a virtualized operating system environment using the Oracle Solaris 10 Zones Physical-to-Virtual (P2V) capability.Using an example and various scenarios, this paper describes how to take advantage of theOracle Solaris 10 Zones Physical-to-Virtual (P2V) capability with other Oracle Solaris features to optimize performance using the Solaris 10 resource management advanced storage management using Solaris ZFS plus improving operating system visibility with Solaris DTrace. The most common use for this tool is when performing consolidation of existing systems onto virtualization enabled platforms, in addition to that we can use the Physical-to-Virtual (P2V) capability  for other tasks for example backup your physical system and move them into virtualized operating system environment hosted on the Disaster Recovery (DR) site another option can be building an Oracle Solaris 10 image repository with various configuration and a different software packages in order to reduce provisioning time.Oracle Solaris ZonesOracle Solaris Zones is a virtualization and partitioning technology supported on Oracle Sun servers powered by SPARC and Intel processors. This technology provides an isolated and secure environment for running applications. A zone is a virtualized operating system environment created within a single instance of the Solaris 10 Operating System. Each virtual system is called a zone and runs a unique and distinct copy of the Solaris 10 operating system.Oracle Solaris Zones Physical-to-Virtual (P2V)A new feature for Solaris 10 9/10.This feature provides the ability to build a Solaris 10 images from physical system and migrate it into a virtualized operating system environmentThere are three main steps using this tool1. Image creation on the source system, this image includes the operating system and optionally the software in which we want to include within the image. 2. Preparing the target system by configuring a new zone that will host the new image.3. Image installation on the target system using the image we created on step 1. The host, where the image is built, is referred to as the source system and the host, where theimage is installed, is referred to as the target system. Benefits of Oracle Solaris Zones Physical-to-Virtual (P2V)Here are some benefits of this new feature:  Simple- easy build process using Oracle Solaris 10 built-in commands.  Robust- based on Oracle Solaris Zones a robust and well known virtualization technology.  Flexible- support migration between V series servers into T or -M-series systems. For the latest server information, refer to the Sun Servers web page. PrerequisitesThe target Oracle Solaris system should be running the latest version of the patching patch cluster. and the minimum Solaris version on the target system should be Solaris 10 9/10.Refer to the latest Administration Guide for Oracle Solaris for a complete procedure on how todownload and install Oracle Solaris. NOTE: If the source system that used to build the image is an older version then the targetsystem, then during the process, the operating system will be upgraded to Solaris 10 9/10(update on attach).Creating the Image Used to distribute the software. We will create an image on the source machine. We can create the image on the local file system and then transfer it to the target machine, or build it into a NFS shared storage andmount the NFS file system from the target machine.Optional  before creating the image we need to complete the software installation that we want to include with the Solaris 10 image. An image is created by using the flarcreate command:Source # flarcreate -S -n s10-system -L cpio /var/tmp/solaris_10_up9.flarThe command does the following:  -S specifies that we skip the disk space check and do not write archive size data to the archive (faster).  -n specifies the image name.  -L specifies the archive format (i.e cpio). Optionally, we can add descriptions to the archive identification section, which can help to identify the archive later.Source # flarcreate -S -n s10-system -e "Oracle Solaris with Oracle DB10.2.0.4" -a "oracle" -L cpio /var/tmp/solaris_10_up9.flarYou can see example of the archive identification section in Appendix A: archive identification section. We can compress the flar image using the gzip command or adding the -c option to the flarcreate commandSource # gzip /var/tmp/solaris_10_up9.flarAn md5 checksum can be created for the image in order to ensure no data tamperingSource # digest -v -a md5 /var/tmp/solaris_10_up9.flar Moving the image into the target system. If we created the image on the local file system, we need to transfer the flar archive from the source machine to the target machine.Source # scp /var/tmp/solaris_10_up9.flar target:/var/tmpConfiguring the Zone on the target systemAfter copying the software to the target machine, we need to configure a new zone in order to host the new image on that zone.To install the new zone on the target machine, first we need to configure the zone (for the full zone creation options see the following link: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E18752_01/html/817-1592/index.html  )ZFS integrationA flash archive can be created on a system that is running a UFS or a ZFS root file system.NOTE: If you create a Solaris Flash archive of a Solaris 10 system that has a ZFS root, then bydefault, the flar will actually be a ZFS send stream, which can be used to recreate the root pool. This image cannot be used to install a zone. You must create the flar with an explicit cpio or paxarchive when the system has a ZFS root.Use the flarcreate command with the -L archiver option, specifying cpio or pax as themethod to archive the files. (For example, see Step 1 in the previous section).Optionally, on the target system you can create the zone root folder on a ZFS file system inorder to benefit from the ZFS features (clones, snapshots, etc...).Target # zpool create zones c2t2d0 Create the zone root folder:Target # chmod 700 /zones Target # zonecfg -z solaris10-up9-zonesolaris10-up9-zone: No such zone configuredUse 'create' to begin configuring a new zone.zonecfg:solaris10-up9-zone> createzonecfg:solaris10-up9-zone> set zonepath=/zoneszonecfg:solaris10-up9-zone> set autoboot=truezonecfg:solaris10-up9-zone> add netzonecfg:solaris10-up9-zone:net> set address=192.168.0.1zonecfg:solaris10-up9-zone:net> set physical=nxge0zonecfg:solaris10-up9-zone:net> endzonecfg:solaris10-up9-zone> verifyzonecfg:solaris10-up9-zone> commitzonecfg:solaris10-up9-zone> exit Installing the Zone on the target system using the imageInstall the configured zone solaris10-up9-zone by using the zoneadm command with the install -a option and the path to the archive. The following example shows how to create an Image and sys-unconfig the zone.Target # zoneadm -z solaris10-up9-zone install -u -a/var/tmp/solaris_10_up9.flarLog File: /var/tmp/solaris10-up9-zone.install_log.AJaGveInstalling: This may take several minutes...The following example shows how we can preserve system identity.Target # zoneadm -z solaris10-up9-zone install -p -a /var/tmp/solaris_10_up9.flar Resource management Some applications are sensitive to the number of CPUs on the target Zone. An exclusive IP stack provides a complete, tunable, manageable and independent networking stack to each zone. A zone with an exclusive IP stack can configure Scalable TCP (STCP), IP routing, IP multipathing, or IPsec. • Best way to slice up a non rectangular image?

    - by Hoff
I have the image below and need to create a rollover for each "piece" or arrow in the circle. Because the image isn't rectangular, it boggles how me how I'm going to do this without having badly overlapping pieces. As you can see from the image below, the slices will overlap each other (quite a bit), which will not be good for the rollover. Does anybody have any ideas as to how to accomplish this without resorting to Flash or HTML5? The majority of our site's users use dinosaur browsers that don't support HTML5. Here's the link to the image: http://img812.imageshack.us/img812/3166/wheela.png

  • Should an image be able to resize itself in OOP?

    - by ChocoDeveloper
I'm writing an app that will have an Image entity, and I'm already having trouble deciding whose responsibility each task should be. First I have the Image class. It has a path, width, and other attributes. Then I created an ImageRepository class, for retrieving images with a single and tested method, eg: findAllImagesWithoutThumbnail(). But now I also need to be able to createThumbnail(). Who should deal with that? I was thinking about having an ImageManager class, which would be an app-specific class (there would also be a third party image manipulation reusable component of choice, I'm not reinventing the wheel). Or maybe it would be 0K to let the Image resize itself? Or let the ImageRepository and ImageManager be the same class? What do you think?

  • Why is my background image always disappearing when I log in?

    - by user64720
When logging in lubuntu 12.04, my background image always disappears, leaving the screen with color only and then I have to go to definitions and set the image in the background again. I notice that this does not happen with low-resolution images, only with high ones, but also happens with images that fit my screen resolution (1280 X 720). Any ideas on how to fix this? The image remains at it's location, but on the desktop preferences, the pathway to the file location is lost and set to none.

  • building a debian base image

    - by Michael
Is there a preferred way to create base images for Debian-based customized installations? We are currently going with multistrap but although it's better than hand-crafted chroot stuff, it still has a lot of edges and corners. Is there a more reliable and less error-prone way to produce a root filesystem of a Debian installation with some additional .debs installed? (I don't want to send out a Debian installer with a preseed file though.) Addendum 1: To clarify things a bit: We are delivering some kind of software appliance to our customers. That is, a debian operating system, with some additional software packages -- both our own and third-party ones -- and some configuration changes. To ease the installation process, we have an installer that does nothing more than partitioning, copying files to the partitions and setting up grub. So it's basically an image-based installer. So we are basically running the debian installation ourselves and just distribute the already installed operating system. The question is about the installation part. I want to have that as easy and robust as possible, and of course, it should be an automated process.

  • Monotouch UITableView image "flashing" while background requests are fetched

    - by Themos Piperakis
I am in need of some help from you guys. I have a Monotouch UITableView which contains some web images. I have implemented a Task to fetch them asynchronously so the UI is responsive, an even added some animations to fade them in when they are fetched from the web. My problems start when the user scrolls down very fast down the UITableView, so since the cells are resusable, several background tasks are queued for images. When he is at the bottom of the list, he might see the thumbnail displaying an image for another cell, then another, then another, then another, as the tasks are completed and each image replaces the other one. I am in need of some sort of checking whether the currently displayed cell corresponds to the correct image url, but not sure how to do that. Here is the code for my TableSource class. using System; using MonoTouch.UIKit; using MonoTouch.Foundation; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Threading; using System.Threading.Tasks; using System.Diagnostics; { public class ListDelegate:UITableViewDelegate { private UINavigationController nav; public override float GetHeightForRow (UITableView tableView, NSIndexPath indexPath) { return 128; } public override void RowSelected (UITableView tableView, NSIndexPath indexPath) { DealViewController c = new DealViewController(((ListDataSource)tableView.DataSource).deals[indexPath.Row].Id,nav); nav.PushViewController(c,true); tableView.DeselectRow(indexPath, true); } public ListDelegate(UINavigationController nav) { this.nav = nav; } } public class ListDataSource:UITableViewDataSource { bool toggle=true; Dictionary<string,UIImage> images = new Dictionary<string, UIImage>(); public List<MyDeal> deals = new List<MyDeal>(); Dictionary<int,ListCellViewController> controllers = new Dictionary<int, ListCellViewController>(); public ListDataSource(List<MyDeal> deals) { this.deals = deals; } public override int RowsInSection (UITableView tableview, int section) { return deals.Count; } public override UITableViewCell GetCell (UITableView tableView, MonoTouch.Foundation.NSIndexPath indexPath) { UITableViewCell cell = tableView.DequeueReusableCell("cell"); ListCellViewController cellController = null; if (cell == null || !controllers.ContainsKey(cell.Tag)) { cellController = new ListCellViewController(); NSBundle.MainBundle.LoadNib("ListCellViewController", cellController, null); cell = cellController.Cell; cell.Tag = Environment.TickCount; controllers.Add(cell.Tag, cellController); } else { cellController = controllers[cell.Tag]; } if (toggle) { cell.BackgroundView = new UIImageView(UIImage.FromFile("images/bg1.jpg")); } else { cell.BackgroundView = new UIImageView(UIImage.FromFile("images/bg2.jpg")); } toggle = !toggle; MyDeal d = deals[indexPath.Row]; cellController.SetValues(d.Title,d.Price,d.Value,d.DiscountPercent); GetImage(cellController.Thumbnail,d.Thumbnail); return cell; } private void GetImage(UIImageView img, string url) { img.Alpha = 0; if (url != string.Empty) { if (images.ContainsKey(url)) { img.Image = images[url]; img.Alpha = 1; } else { var context = TaskScheduler.FromCurrentSynchronizationContext (); Task.Factory.StartNew (() => { NSData imageData = NSData.FromUrl(new NSUrl(url)); var uimg = UIImage.LoadFromData(imageData); images.Add(url, uimg); return uimg; }).ContinueWith (t => { InvokeOnMainThread(()=>{ img.Image = t.Result; RefreshImage(img); }); }, context); } } } private void RefreshImage(UIImageView img) { UIView.BeginAnimations("imageThumbnailTransitionIn"); UIView.SetAnimationDuration(0.5f); img.Alpha = 1.0f; UIView.CommitAnimations(); } } } Here is the ListCellViewController, that contains a custom cell using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using MonoTouch.Foundation; using MonoTouch.UIKit; { public partial class ListCellViewController : UIViewController { #region Constructors // The IntPtr and initWithCoder constructors are required for items that need // to be able to be created from a xib rather than from managed code public ListCellViewController (IntPtr handle) : base(handle) { Initialize (); } [Export("initWithCoder:")] public ListCellViewController (NSCoder coder) : base(coder) { Initialize (); } public ListCellViewController () : base("ListCellViewController", null) { Initialize (); } void Initialize () { } public UIImageView Thumbnail { get{return thumbnailView;} } public UITableViewCell Cell { get {return cell;} } public void SetValues(string title, decimal price, decimal valuex, decimal discount, int purchases) { } #endregion } } All help is greatly appreciated

  • Resize and saving an image to disk in Monotouch

    - by Chris S
    I'm trying to resize an image loaded from disk - a JPG or PNG (I don't know the format when I load it) - and then save it back to disk. I've got the following code which I've tried to port from objective-c, however I've got stuck on the last parts. Original Objective-C. This may not be the best way of achieving what I want to do - any solution is fine for me. int width = 100; int height = 100; using (UIImage image = UIImage.FromFile(filePath)) { CGImage cgimage = image.CGImage; CGImageAlphaInfo alphaInfo = cgimage.AlphaInfo; if (alphaInfo == CGImageAlphaInfo.None) alphaInfo = CGImageAlphaInfo.NoneSkipLast; CGBitmapContext context = new CGBitmapContext(IntPtr.Zero, width, height, cgimage.BitsPerComponent, 4 * width, cgimage.ColorSpace, alphaInfo); context.DrawImage(new RectangleF(0, 0, width, height), cgimage); /* Not sure how to convert this part: CGImageRef ref = CGBitmapContextCreateImage(bitmap); UIImage* result = [UIImage imageWithCGImage:ref]; CGContextRelease(bitmap); // ok if NULL CGImageRelease(ref); */ }
