    I have a web application that I want to sync with Flickr. I don't want the users to have to log into Flickr so I plan to use a single login. I believe I'll need to do something like this: import flickrapi flickr = flickrapi.FlickrAPI(myKey, mySecret) (token, frob) = flickr.get_token_part_one(perms='write', my_auth_callback) flickr.get_token_part_two((token, frob,)) flickr.what_have_you(... I don't know what my_auth_callback should look like though. I suspect it will have to post my login information to flickr. Could I do the get_token_part_one step just once manually perhaps and then re-use it in get_token_part_two?

  • Java library to encode / decode AMF

    Hi chaps, I currently have a Java server that talks to a Flash client by passing JSON encoded data over a binary socket connection. Is there a way on either side to encode / decode packets as AMF instead of JSON? It seems to me that there should be some native support in Flash player for doing this? All the implementations I have found of AMF serialization seem to be embedded inside an application framework. Simiarly so, does anyone know if it's possible to decode AMF packets independently of a connection implementation in Flash?

    This seems like an easy enough issue but I can't seem to find the keywords to effect my searches. I'm trying to unit test by mocking out all objects within this method call. I am able to do so to all of my own creations except for this one: public void MyFunc(MyVarClass myVar) { Image picture; ... picture = Image.FromStream(new MemoryStream(myVar.ImageStream)); ... } FromStream is a static call from the Image class (part of c#). So how can I refactor my code to mock this out because I really don't want to provide a image stream to the unit test.

    Hello. I am going to handle XML files for a project. I had earlier decided to use lxml but after reading the requirements, I think ElemenTree would be better for my purpose. The XML files that have to be processed are: Small in size. Typically < 10 KB. No namespaces. Simple XML structure. Given the small XML size, memory is not an issue. My only concern is fast parsing. What should I go with? Mostly I have seen people recommend lxml, but given my parsing requirements, do I really stand to benefit from it or would ElementTree serve my purpose better?

    I cant seem to list all derived classes using the __subclasses__() method.     I am looking for some JavaScript based component to be used as a course scheduler which would be a cross between Google Calendar and the login time. I do not know if the right term for this is Course Scheduler but I shall describe this in more detail here. Course Scheduler The widget would be used to enter date and times of a course, as an example if I run a programming course 3 days a week on Mon, Tue and Wed every 7:00 am to 9:00am, 2 hours every day from 1st September to 30th November. I could answer various questions and the course data would be displayed in the calendar. It would also allow for non pattern based timings where each week is different from the other week etc. Question So would I end up creating something from scratch? Would it be sensible to use Google Calendar API for this? I did a Google search for some widgets, but I believe I need better keywords, as I could not find anything close to what I am looking for. Any tips? Commercial libraries would also work for me. Thanks.

  • How do the size standard libraries compare for different languages

    Someone was recently raving about how great jQuery was and how it made javascript into a pleasure and also how the whole source code was so small(and one file). I looked it up on www.ohloh.net/ and it said it was about 30,000 lines of javascript, when I tired curl piped to wc it said about 5000 lines(strange discrepancy that, maybe test suites, ect?). I thought well it isn't that strange since javascript from what I've heard has a lot of fun dynamic tricks, so you can probably get away with a small library. But then I thought what about other high level languages, the ones with large standard libraries and wondered how big the standard are for python/ruby/haskell/pharo(smalltalk)/*ml/ect. (libraries not vm stuff to the degree its possible to separate it) Anybody know? Any details (comment/blank/code lines , test code lines, lines in language vs lines in ffi/byte-code) are appreciated! edit: ps. since it started this me asking about jQuery as a bonus if you could please list the size of mega frameworks, a megaframewok provides so much that people using an x megaframework in language y might sometimes refer to programming in xy or even x rather then in y (ie. : qt, jQuery, etc.).

    I'm running across a problem I can't seem to wrap my head around using the Read-Archive cmdlet available via PowerShell Community Extensions (v2.0.3782.38614). Here is a cut down sample used to exhibit the problem I'm running into: $mainPath = "p:\temp" $dest = Join-Path $mainPath "ps\CenCodes.zip" Read-Archive -Path $dest -Format zip Running the above produces the following error: Read-Archive : Cannot bind parameter 'Path'. Cannot convert the "p:\temp\ps\CenCodes.zip" value of type "System.String" to type "Pscx.IO.PscxPathInfo". At line:3 char:19 + Read-Archive -Path <<<< $dest -Format zip + CategoryInfo : InvalidArgument: (:) [Read-Archive], ParameterBindingException + FullyQualifiedErrorId : CannotConvertArgumentNoMessage,Pscx.Commands.IO.Compression.ReadArchiveCommand If I do not use Join-Path to build the path passed to Read-Archive it works, as in this example: $mainPath = "p:\temp" $path = $mainPath + "\ps\CenCodes.zip" Read-Archive -Path $path -Format zip Output from above: ZIP Folder: CenCodes.zip#\ Index LastWriteTime Size Ratio Name ----- ------------- ---- ----- ---- 0 6/17/2010 2:03 AM 3009106 24.53 % CenCodes.xls Even more confusing is if I compare the two variables passed as the Path argument in the two Read-Archive samples above, they seem identical: This...   • Making one of the folders default in Apache

    Hello, The file & directory structure of my website is as follows: /Library/WebServer/mysite/joomla .. /Library/WebServer/mysite/wiki .. /Library/WebServer/mysite/forum .. /Library/WebServer/mysite/index.php As you see, there are various applications each residing in separate folders. Now, in order to define this structure, I have made this entry in Apache http-vhosts.config file: ServerName mysite.com DocumentRoot "/Library/WebServer/mysite" ** And I already have the DirectoryIndex defined: DirectoryIndex index.html index.php, and so on. So far so good but I want this specific functionality: When someone visits mysite, he/she should automatically directed to: /Library/WebServer/mysite/joomla (and therefore /Library/WebServer/mysite/joomla/index.php) I don't want to achieve that functionality by putting a redirection code inside /Library/WebServer/mysite/index.php or /Library/WebServer/mysite/index.htm because that causes time delays (because of the redirection, of course) But in this case, the only proper way of achieving it seems to set DocumentRoot this way: DocumentRoot "/Library/WebServer/mysite/joomla" But when I set it that way, then the other folders (/wiki, /forum, etc.) are simply not served by Apache. To work around it, I put directives like: Alias /wiki /Library/WebServer/mysite/wiki .. Alias /forum /library/WebServer/mysite/forum and it did work actually the way I wanted. But... I still cannot use it that way because in this case I just couldn't manage to make the wiki use Short URLs (as described in link text) So, I have to set the DocumentRoot back to /Library/WebServer/mysite and shoud be able to assign /Library/WebServer/mysite/joomla as the "default directory" (my own terminology :) Can I do it in Apache? Is there any other way you might suggest? Thanks.

  • Suggestions for a Cron like scheduler in Python?

    I'm looking for a library in Python which will provide at and cron like functionality. I'd quite like have a pure Python solution, rather than relying on tools installed on the box; this way I run on machines with no cron. For those unfamiliar with cron: you can schedule tasks based upon an expression like: 0 2 * * 7 /usr/bin/run-backup # run the backups at 0200 on Every Sunday 0 9-17/2 * * 1-5 /usr/bin/purge-temps # run the purge temps command, every 2 hours between 9am and 5pm on Mondays to Fridays. The cron time expression syntax is less important, but I would like to have something with this sort of flexibility. If there isn't something that does this for me out-the-box, any suggestions for the building blocks to make something like this would be gratefully received. Edit I'm not interested in launching processes, just "jobs" also written in Python - python functions. By necessity I think this would be a different thread, but not in a different process. To this end, I'm looking for the expressivity of the cron time expression, but in Python. Cron has been around for years, but I'm trying to be as portable as possible. I cannot rely on its presence.
