  • Issues with Ext-JS 1.1 date fields and Firefox 3.x / IE 8

    I'm modifying an older website for a client that uses Ext-JS 1.1 and I'm having issues with display of date fields in IE and particularly Firefox. The site was left in a semi-implemented state previously, so there's not been a perceived problem before. In Chrome and Safari everything looks fine and the datepicker drops down and displays correctly. However in Firefox the picker is displayed widened to cover the maximum scrollable brower width (very wide indeed), and in IE it's truncated to about two thirds of the width it should be. I am somewhat uncertain that this is due to our css, but because Chrome and Safari work fine I think it might be a problem with Ext-js itself. I realise that this is an old version of Ext-JS, but because everything else works fine I don't want to go to the trouble of upgrading unless that would be very straightforward (but how difficult would that be?) I don't myself use ExtJS and this is the only website my client has with it - so I'm really looking for the simplest possible solution.

  • Reordering items in mobilesafari

    After searching around i still have no clue about the best practice to reorder a set of items in mobile safari. I'm currently using, in the desktop version of my webapplication, jQuery sortable function applied to a set of table rows, with an ajax callback to update items positioning. What would be the best way of doing this in mobile safari through jquery or plain javascript? The table is longer then the screen, so also the normal scrolling should be present. Other approaches that are usable and do not make use of drag and dropping are also welcome. Thanks.

  • jQuery ajax callback function not working

    I am using Symfony PHP Framework to create web application, and using symfony Forms to create the HTML forms. I am trying to load the data in Select element using Ajax, for that i am using jQuery's Ajax functions. It is working fine as it sends and gets the response correctly(status as 200), but not calling the Callback function in some browsers such as IE,Chrome and Safari.It works fine in Firefox and Opera. the Code that is not working, $.ajax({ type: 'POST', url: 'form/ajax', async: true, cache: false, dataType : 'json', data: 'id='+ids, success: function(jsonData){ alert("ok go"); } }); the alert "OK Go" is not called in Chrome,IE and Safari But $.ajax({ type: 'POST', url: 'form/ajax', async: true, cache: false, dataType : 'json', data: 'id='+ids, success: alert("ok go"); }); this works, but as per the project i want the JSON data to load in my Select element. is there any thing wrong in the return JSON format or the bug in the jQuery Ajax functions, please help.

  • activesync not working with forms based authentication

    I have an Exchange 2003 SP2 single backend server with an SSL cert. I was having trouble getting OMA to work so I found a MS article about making a reg hack and creating a new Exchange-OMA virtual directory. I am able to connect and access content from my mailbox by using secure mail.domainname.com/oma and using my credentials. ActiveSync was not working on a Windows mobile phone or iPhone. I found another article about using Forms Based Authenication and SSL on a single Exchange server environment and the fix was to elliminate FBA and SSL for the Exchange virtual directory. That allows ActiveSync to now work. I have very few mobile users, but they are management, so I need to make ActiveSync work but I would like to get back to using SSL. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/817379 Any ideas about this setup?   • Level of SVG SMIL (animation) support among the browsers

    Hi, Does anyone know the current state of SVG SMIL animation support in the popular browsers? It looks like Safari, Chrome, and Opera support it. Firefox has confusing reports in their dev pages about SMIL support having been added, but I don't see it as of v3.6: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=216462 I am ignoring IE since they don't even support SVG at all, and probably never will, much less SMIL. The other thing - just comparing this test page between Safari, Chrome, and Opera: http://srufaculty.sru.edu/david.dailey/svg/ovaling.svg looks like Opera is the only one that renders it correctly. Should we not be using SMIL - kind of looks half-baked in all the browsers (sadly)? Blast. Thanks

  • How to trigger saved password autofill in browsers?

    I have a web application written in pure JavaScript (no pre-generated HTML except for the document which loads all the JS files). This app contains a login form which is created dynamically when the document.ready event event is triggered. I trick the browser into displaying the "Remember password?" dialog by posting the login form into a hidden iframe before logging in using ajax (in Firefox the password appears on the saved password list, so this part obviously works) but saved passwords never get filled in after the login screen is loaded again at a later time. The same thing happens in Firefox and Safari. Is there something I can do or some function I can call to trigger autofill? UPDATE: autofill works in Safari on initial page load, but not when user logs out and the login form is recreated without a page reload. In Firefox it never works.

  • Using Facebook Connect with jQTouch?

    Hi, i'm starting a new jQTouch-project now and i'm thinking of using facebook connect to make it easier for users to register with my site. do anyone have any experience with this? I'm using the Facebook PHP SDK (from github), and i first tried to use it with the built in example, it worked good. i later tried it with jQTouch (the latest build from the SVN). when i create the log in/log out link inside a ul.roundedli element it does not work because jQTouch have some special function that handles links clicked inside a li-element. how can i go around this function and make it work with the connect-link, i'm using the display=touch version of the autentication dialog. when i add the link outside of the ul.roundedli-element it works in desktop safari but not in mobile safari. any ideas?

  • Java: Reading a pdf file from URL into Byte array/ByteBuffer in an applet.

    I'm trying to figure out why this particular snippet of code isn't working for me. I've got an applet which is supposed to read a .pdf and display it with a pdf-renderer library, but for some reason when I read in the .pdf files which sit on my server, they end up as being corrupt. I've tested it by writing the files back out again. I've tried viewing the applet in both IE and Firefox and the corrupt files occur. Funny thing is, when I trying viewing the applet in Safari (for Windows), the file is actually fine! I understand the JVM might be different, but I am still lost. I've compiled in Java 1.5. JVMs are 1.6. Edit: To further clarify my situation, the difference in the file before I read then with the snippet and after, is that the ones I output after reading are significantly smaller than they originally are. When opening them, they are not recognized as .pdf files. There are no exceptions being thrown that I ignore, and I have tried flushing to no avail. This snippet works in Safari, meaning the files are read in it's entirety, with no difference in size, and can be opened with any .pdf reader. In IE and Firefox, the files always end up being corrupted, consistently the same smaller size. I monitored the len variable (when reading a 59kb file), hoping to see how many bytes get read in at each loop. In IE and Firefox, at 18kb, the in.read(buf) returns a -1 as if the file has ended. Safari does not do this. I'll keep at it, and I appreciate all the suggestions so far.

  • Mouse settings/properties dialog box won't open in Windows 7

    Hi, I have a problem trying to open my computer's mouse settings by either going to the command prompt and typing, 'control mouse', 'main.cpl' (as researched online) or simply by trying to go to the Control Panel and clicking on 'Mouse' under Hardware and Sound section. I have also tried running cmd as Administrator and trying the above commands but that is of no help. Lastly, if I search for 'mouse' and click 'Mouse' from the Windows search bar, that doesn't work either. In the past I had bought and installed Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 6000 software and have just now bought and installed HP's Wireless Comfort Mobile mouse. Any help in this regard is highly recommended. I won't be able to restore or reinstall my laptop since it's a heavy use machine. Thanks! Yasser

    I'm building my own custom RSS feed in PHP. I want the tag to contain line breaks to make the text more readable. However, I can't seem to figure out how to do it correctly. No matter what I try some RSS reader interprets it incorrectly. Is there some standard best way to add a line-break in and RSS 2.0 feed? I have tried "\n", which works in NetNewsWire on the Mac, but gets ignored by the built-in Safari browser's RSS reader. I have tried <br />, which works in the Safari RSS reader, but results in all the text after the being cut off in NetNewsWire.

Can I simply use the following statement: document.body.offsetLeft; or do I need to assign it to a variable, e.g.: var force_layout = document.body.offsetLeft; in order for browsers to calculate that value? I think this comes down to a more fundamental question - that is, without being part of an assignment statement, will JavaScript still evaluate a property's value? Does this depend on whether a particular browser's JavaScript engine optimizes the code?

  • Pull down UIToolbar above UIWebView inside UIScrollView

    I'd like to display a toolbar above a UIWebView but hide the toolbar until the person "pulls it down". The same functionality can be seen in Safari on the iPhone. When the page loads, the toolbar containing the address is hidden. You must pull it down. In Safari it's possible to scroll up and eventually see the toolbar or scroll down through the page contents. I've tried placing a UIToolbar and UIWebView inside a UIScrollView but it didn't work. I've tried setting the UIScrollView to the size of the toolbar and webview combined, but that didn't work. - (void)viewDidLoad{ CGSize size = CGSizeMake(webView.frame.size.width, toolBar.frame.size.height + webView.frame.size.height); [scrollView setContentSize:size]; } How should I go about doing this?

  • When should I observe javascript events on window vs. document vs. document.body?

    I'm using prototype.js for my web app, and I have everything running on chrome, safari, and firefox. I am now working on IE8 compatibility. As I've been debugging in IE, I've noticed that there are javascript events for which I have previously set an observer on the window, e.g. Event.observe(window, eventType, function () {...}); (where eventType might be "dom:loaded", "keypress", etc.) and it works just fine in Chrome/Safari/Firefox. However, in IE the observer never fires. In at least some cases I could get this to work on IE by instead placing the observer on something other than window, e.g. document (in the case of "dom:loaded") or document.body (in the case of "keypress"). However, this is all trial-and-error. Is there some more systematic way to determine where to place these observers such that the results will be cross-browser compatible? Thanks!

  • Seeking through a streamed MP3 file with HTML5 <audio> tag

    Hopefully someone can help me out with this. I'm playing around with a node.js server that streams audio to a client, and I want to create an HTML5 player. Right now, I'm streaming the code from node using chunked encoding, and if you go directly to the URL, it works great. What I'd like to do is embed this using the HTML5 <audio> tag, like so: <audio src="http://server/stream?file=123"> where /stream is the endpoint for the node server to stream the MP3. The HTML5 player loads fine in Safari and Chrome, but it doesn't allow me to seek, and Safari even says it's a "Live Broadcast". In the headers of /stream, I include the file size and file type, and the response gets ended properly. Any thoughts on how I could get around this? I certainly could just send the whole file at once, but then the player would wait until the whole thing is downloaded--I'd rather stream it.

The other browsers just do not load the Bookreader and show the "x" instead, like they did not get the values from the php script. Where is the problem?

    Dell doesn't seem to offer 64 bit drivers specifically for the Inspiron 1720 (laptop). I'm going to be upgrading from Vista 32-bit to Windows 7 64bit and I want to pull down the necessary stuff before hand. Are there any Dell systems that are similar enough to the Inspiron 1720 that I can use for a baseline to make sure I still have Ethernet and WiFi after the reinstall? It doesn't matter if they are for Vista 64 or Windows 7. Identified hardware: Processor: Intel mobile Core 2 Duo T7500 Chipset: Intel Mobile 965 Express Wifi: Intel Pro Wireless Drive Controller: Intel Matrix Graphics: nVidia GeForce 8600M GT Bluetooth: Dell TrueMobile 355 + EDR Ricoh card reader I think anything else, the default Windows drivers will be sufficient.   • Unable to sync the Zune software with my HTC HD7

    I have a brand new HTC HD7 with Windows Phone 7, with no Software installed. I am running on Windows 7 64 bit. Whenever I try to sync my Mobile Device with Zune- I get this message: Can't connect to your phone. Disconnect it, restart it, then try connecting again I've downloaded latest Zune software and all updates. I don't have any certificates on my personal certificates. My phone is listed under Portable devices in Device manager (It shows as phone with driver version 4.7.965.0). I've restarted both my computer and the mobile device few times. I tried unlocking the device during the Zune sync Any ideas as to how I can sync my phone ?

    Hi, I am trying to figure out certain memory leak conditions in javascript on a few browsers. Currently I'm only testing FF 3.6, Opera 10.10, and Safari 4.0.3. I've started with a fairly simple test, and can confirm no memory leaks in Firefox and Safari. But Opera just takes memory and never gives it back. What gives? No luck. As you can see this is simple JS, no circular DOM links, no closures. I monitor the memory usage using 'top' on Mac 10.4.11. Memory usage spikes up on page load, as expected. In FF and Safari reloading the page does not use any further memory, and all memory is returned when the window (tab) is closed. In Opera, memory spikes on load, and seems to also spike further on each reload (but not always...). But regardless of reload, memory never goes back down below the initial load spike. I had hoped this was a no-brainer test that all browsers would pass, so I could move on to more "interesting" conditions. Am I doing something wrong here? Or is this a known Opera issue?     I'm doing some tests with new features of CSS3, but this combination only works in lastest versions of Chrome and Firefox, but not in Safari or Opera: box-shadow: inset 0px -10px 20px 0px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.5); -webkit-box-shadow: inset 0px -10px 20px 0px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.5); -moz-box-shadow: inset 0px -10px 20px 0px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.5); I really don't know if they fails in the box-shadow itself, in the inset parameter, or in RGBA color. It's a syntax error or simply Safari and Opera lacks on this?
