  • .htaccess - deny downloading of files

    I keep several fonts in the directory "/fonts/" on my server which I then load into my css files via @font-face. However, I want to make sure that people cannot download the file just by simply going to http://www.domain.com/fonts/fontname.ttf. Can I somehow prevent this, and still be able to load the font files into my css files? Because I think putting deny from all into the .htaccess file will even prevent the css files for correctly loading the fonts. I hope this makes sense.

This information is obtained via an input text area box and we would prefer that the browser doesn't auto correct and indicate grammatical errors on the student responses (e.g. obey is correct but obay is wrong). The browser shows a red underline if there are grammatical mistakes. How do I prevent this across all browsers.

    Is it possible to do a regex replace on all IMG tags that are unclosed? If so, how would I identify: <img src="..." alt="..."> ...as a potential canidate to be replaced? = <img src="..." alt="..."/> Update: We have hundreds of pages, and thousands of image tags, all must of which must be closed. I'm not stuck on RegEx -- any other method, aside from manually updating all IMG tags, would suffice.

    I have two h:selectManyCheckBox with the required attribute set to true. What I want is that the required attribute of both of the components work together. Only display the error message if and only if both of the selected items list are empty. Right now my problem is that the message displays if either one of them is empty. In fact, when ViewData["KeyForMyObject"] contains a string, int, or bool, myAction is able to retrieve the value. But, when it comes to objects, such as List, and dictionary, nothing happens. When I debug to check the local values, I see null for Type myObject in the MyMethod.   • Robust Way of Selecting All Text in Textbox

    I'm trying to have the content of the an HTML textbox be selected fully onFocus. I know the simple solution of putting a onfocus="this.select()" on the component but this is not a good solution because if a user double clicks into the area the selection is lost and in browsers like chrome it is rarely working like it should and just reverts into input form. I have searched on Google for a little while and can't find a good solution, most suggestions are of this simple solution. What I would like it is that the selection inside the textbox not change once selected and if possible the user should not be able to edit the content of the textbox, for example if you have used AdSense when you grab code from AdSense the selection never changes and your unable to alter the code in the textbox. Any solutions would be appreciated.

  • Robust way to display an image with one fixed dimension

    Lets say that we have an image uploaded by the user, the upload script limits the mb but not the image size (so could be any proportion, 600X200,200X350, and so...). Im already showing this image in one part on my site using the twitter bootstrap image handler written on css, thats good for a profile picture, the problem is that now I want that image to be a cover (like facebook/twitter cover image), my site is responsive so the width of the cover is 900px or 100% if the screen resolution is less than 900px wide. The height is always fixed to 200px. So I know there is a way to control the correct image display using CSS (maybe with jquery too) but Im not a front-end dev, Im a php dev and I dont want to use server side scripts for doing this. So im looking for suggestions or pieces of codes (css, javascript) to start with, I belive that it have to be an already made solution for this, but I dont find any on google. Thanks for any advice!

From reading the specs, i'd assume this should not change the plugin finding prompt - that is, rendering the fallback should be seen as a failure to render the object tag. Thus, I should still get the plugin finder service prompting me to install Java. Instead, simply adding a single character to the innerHTML of the object element causes Firefox to no longer prompt. Test this by visiting data:text/html,<object type='application/x-java-applet'>Java failed to load</object>. How can I keep firefox prompting to install Java while providing fallback content?   • auto resize text (font size) when resizing window?

    Hi, I have been trying(in vain) to build a page whose elements would resize as I changed the window size. I have it working in css for images no problem, but I can't seem to accomplish the same for text, and I am not sure it is even possible in CSS. And I can't seem to find a jquery script that accomplishes this. When a user resizes the window, I essentially want the page to scale dynamically and fluidly, without the user having to invoke page zoom. This works fine on my img divs via css, but not for the text, which stays the same size. any ideas? Thanks!
