  • Check whether a folder is a local or a network resource in .NET

    Is there a quick way to check whether a path I have is on a local disk or somewhere on the network? I can't just check to see if it's a drive letter vs. UNC, because that would incorrectly identify mapped drives as local. I assumed it would be a boolean in the DirectoryInfo object, but it appears that it's not. I've found classic VB code to do this check (through an API), but nothing for .NET so far.

    I'm new to C#, and I want to use a track-bar to change a form's opacity. This is my code: decimal trans = trackBar1.Value / 5000 this.Opacity = trans When I try to build it, I get this error: Cannot implicitly convert type 'decimal' to 'double' I tried making trans a double, but then the control doesn't work. This code worked fine for me in VB.NET. What do I need to do differently?

  • Drag and Drop from another application with mouse button down does not fire event

    I am trying to drag and drop a file onto a control in my application. The problem is that when you hold the mouse button down (i.e. dragging from widows explorer), my app does not fire any of the form events. They all work fine if the mouse is not down. Is appears that I need to enable the 'AllowDrop' for the application (it is enabled on the form) What am I missing? I am developing in vb.net 2008 in windows 7 environment

One site suggested adding a reference to "Microsoft Internet Transfer Control" and then define an "Inet" object to do the FTP.     I'm trying to use System.Drawing.RotateFlipType in my settings file. This screenshot summarizes my problem: Each of RotateFlipType values is doubled, and some are missing. If I try to use some of missing values (like Rotate180FlipX, through app.config) - it is simply ignored. Using VS2008 with SP1, vb.net with framework 3.5 on windows 7.

    A co-worker of mine had downloaded a vb example project a while back to see how to make a call or two, he discovered it today again, and noticed that while sitting in the IDE the time/date is updating automatically when the entire project is not even running. How does this work, we looked around for code but can't find anything giving it away. Any ideas?
