Somehow, this website: http://www.pixiesoft.com/flip/ Can do it, and I would like to know how I might be able to do it myself (with whatever programming language or software) Just saving the file as UTF8 won't do it. My motivation for this question is that I have a friend's exported XML file with the garbled text which I want to turn into corrected Hebrew text file. The XML export was originally garbled by MySQL import and exports, but I don't have the information needed to fix it or traceback the problem. Thanks.

  I am trying to connect to oracle database. I am able to connect to it through a local SQL Developer tool by sticking something in the oranames.tns file. My question is that i will be deploying this website to a number of places. A few questions: What is the simplest way i can use to connect to this database and do very basic queries. I see some examples that have me referencing oracleclient dlls. Other methods not? Is there a best practice here? Am i going to have to update the oranames.tns file on everyone on of the machines that i deploy to ? is there any simpler way

  Hi friends, I am working on a website in a CMS site. I have provided a link in my footer file e.g blogs.php. This page is at the root like "http://www.example.com/new_cms/blogs.php" When I moves to other files link like "http://www.example.com/new_cms/forums" the footer link is changed to "http://www.example.com/new_cms/forums/blogs.php" but the blogs.php page resides at path "http://www.example.com/new_cms/" . I tried different $_SERVER[] variables but got no luck to get the above path "http://www.example.com/new_cms/" means the server name with the directory where the project is currently running from. Any one have idea how to get it done will be a great help. Thanks

• C++, Get text from a website, part 3

  So, thanks for all the help guys, I am just have one last problem, I am putting the website source in a char var, and then reading the product title (I have gotten that), however it only works if I take part of the source, or only the html from one of the featured products on neweggs page. I think the program is crashing, because it doesnt know which title to pick when I need to get all three titles and put them into an array. Any ideas? Thanks.   Hi guys, I have a website that has around 10 pages. Only one of those pages uses Zend (to integrate with Google gData). Right now, it's just all coded into that one page, but I'm wanting to learn how to use Zend Framework. How do you handle basic-relatively static php pages within Zend Framework? Do you just stick the whole individual pages into their own respective views and then have to common stuff in the layout, and not worry about a model and controller for those pages? in general, is MVC accepted and appropriate technology for general "web-design" work?

It's actually a pretty sloppy job since its a learning experience and all. I know some files (like favicons and some scripts) are useless/not linked, but seeing as this is a test I won't bother creating them. But do you see any mistakes I made? • How to access website CMS with only access to database

  I have a website that uses an "in-house" cms and I don't know the login details. The platform itself doesn't have the "reset your password" functionality. I do have access to ftp and phmyadmin and I found the SQL table containing the user details, but of course the password is MD5 encryption. I tried manually creating a user in php my admin and filling in a password encrypted in MD5 (used a md service online for that), but it still doesn't work. Does anybody know other tricks I can use? Thanks.

  I have been asked to help redo my non-profit website. I would like to make it look better. What would be the best way to do this? I have some technical background and can learn. I have looked at various options such as Joomla, word press and so on but I am not certain on how to create a good UI for it. I have also looked at Ruby and such, which I think may be overkill for a static page such as this. I haven't done any programming etc in a few years, but I figure this may be an opportunity to get back into it.

  hi all, i'm trying to read the text from a website using the Java URL input stream as follows - URL u = new URL(str); br3 = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(u.openStream())); while(true) System.out.println(br3.readLine()); this seems to work fine for most websites, but for some url shortening services like linkbee, the object draws a blank. e.g. http://linkbee.com/FUAKF, i can view the source code using an explorer, however i repeatedly get nulls when i use the above code.

  Not sure if I asked this correctly. I am trying to see what I need to create an website that uses MVC and that connects to legacy multiple databases, brining back those database info into one page. I wanted the site to be MVC but am not sure where to begin. Do I use Spring? What do I use for an server? Jboss and apache? Hibernate? I'm just kind of lost on how to proceed. It's not a straight forward a asp.net mvc or a php framwork. A major concern is the collection of data from multiple legacy databases and bringing that data back into one page. Thanks.

  I did a lot of searching for what I thought would be a pretty common question, but I came up with nothing. If there is another thread with a similar topic, please let me know. Basically, I'm looking for a way to have an .mp3 file play in a website without relying on a flash-based player. I've searched w3 schools and every forum I can think of, but every media player I've found so far has been some sort of proprietary flash player. Doesn't HTML support some sort of native player? I've found some that rely on Windows Media Player which is close, but I want the player to work on an iPhone and something tells me WMP won't get that done... PS, as I'm thinking more about this this idea just popped into my head: a javascipt player and inside the <noscript> tag, put a flash player? I'm running a music blog (@ http://www.freshoncampus.com) so the less code per post, the better...

• Visual Website Optimizer and Code Igniter

  We are trying to integrate visual website optimizer into a site of ours that uses Code Igniter. The problem is when we go into the VWO control panel to look at stats and previews nothing seems to be working. In the previews panel, all of them come up as code igniter error pages that say "The URI you submitted has disallowed characters." I have researched some solutions to this and have tried changing the regex in system/config to allow more characters, all characters etc and I am still having the problem. Any known issues or problems trying to integrate VWO and Code Igniter? This definitely seems to be a url issue but I can't nail it down.

  Client is requesting a single track to be heard across the website. Generally I advise against it, but they insist. So, what is the most straightforward way of having a flash player embedded in a site, and when a user goes to another page there isn't a gap/interruption? I am thinking an iframe is required.. I am using a flash player that has autoresume, but that only solves picking up where you last left off on the song before going to another page. I tried searching SO for an answer..

• ASP.NET Login Page Redirection Problem

  Hello everyone! I'm building a silverlight application hosted on ASP.NET Web App. / IIS7 / SSL-enabled website. For security, I put my silverlight page inside a Members folder in the ASP.NET Web Application, and restricted access from anonymous users.(see web.config below) when users try to access pages under Members folder, they get redirected to https://www.ssldemo.com/authenticationtest/login.aspx. I now wish to intergrate the content of www.secure.com into each of the domains in a transparent way. Such that each website despite having its own SSL connection displays the same website. The complicatrion is www.secure.com needs to know which website the connection has come from to apply the appropriate branding. The idea behind this is to have only one website, and location, but it keeps the core website brand. https://domain1.com looks alot better from a marketing point of view (and avoids users getting confused about what our secure website is) SSL www.domain1.com/secure - displays www.secure.com (branded domain1) SSL www.domain2.com/secure - displays www.secure.com (branded domain2) SSL www.domain3.com/secure - displays www.secure.com (branded domain3) How would the best way of achieving this, i'm open to using additional software if necessery. Would a reverse proxy be sutible for this situation?

• Unable to access my IIS website using hostname. Works fine with localhost

  I am unable to access my IIS website or even the default website. I did a bit of research and checked/selected the option 'Integrate Windows Authentication' in the Properties > Directory Service tab. From then on I could access the website using localhost. But when I use my hostname, it asks for domain username/password. Why is it so? I don't understand why am I not able to access my website without checking this option to integrate windows authentication? My goal is to access the website using both localhost and hostname. More details on what I did: I haven't done anything out of world. What I did is: IIS - Websites - Create new Website - Create a working folder - Set a default page. I restart this website and then click on browse. And I do not see my default page. I had to go to Directory Service tab and select the check box "Integrate Windows Authentication". Then I can see the default page coming. On IE too I can see the default page coming when I use http://localhost. But when I use http://{hostname} it asks for domain username and password. Why???

• CPanel has two entries for site, need to use SSL one

  I have a website that is meant to be using SSL, however there are two entries in Cpanel's httpd.conf which seem to be causing an issue. When I visit just www.website.com I require it to go to https://www.website.com. However I have to write the https:// directly for the site to work. The secure site also has a different IP.
