• SVN: Error validating server certificate for svn hook linux

  Hi, I managed to setup a SVN (over SSL) server and TortoiseSVN client on Win. I made a Post-Commit Hook for test project. The Post-Commit will update the web dir so the App in PHP can be executed with the newest version. It all works when done over shell. The only problem is, when i commit the changes over the client in Win the change is commited but HOOK throws error post-commit hook failed (exit code 1) with output: Error validating server certificate for 'https://SERVER_IP:443': - The certificate is not issued by a trusted authority. Use the fingerprint to validate the certificate manually! - The certificate hostname does not match. • Personal wiki on usb / the cloud?

  I'm looking for a personal wiki that can be installed on an usb stick and (more importantly) somewhere on the cloud (dropbox). I've looked at the Wiki Matrix, but I really don't care that much about any of the options, so I end up with a choice between ~50 wikis at the end. Tried out TiddlyWiki but there are some things that really annoy me like the fact that all pages get opened on the same page. It really looks like it'd turn into a giant mess pretty quickly. I'd like to have something that's pretty close in terms of appearance and usability to wikipedia. Hierarchical categories for organization would be really nice. And accessible storage (in case I ever want to convert it to something else).

• Excel: making line charts so the line goes through all data points

  Hi I've got data based on over 50+ years for various products. Unfortunately not all products have data for each year. I've created a line chart to show the movement (quantity sold) of these products over the years. It works well, except where the data points are too far apart i.e. 1965 and then 1975. For some reason there is no line. It's not perfect data because of the missing years, but I can live with that, I just want to see the trend, and not just sporadic dots; squares or crosses.   I'm looking for a simple unmanaged switch with 4-8 GBit Ethernet ports and a fiber port (either as a GBIC slot or pre-installed with a 1000BASE-SX port). Does something like that exist? [EDIT] I want to connect to places in my home without drilling large holes though the floors. Therefore, I'm looking for a cheap way to connect two GBit switches via fiber. I tried with a media converter (GBit <- multimode fiber) but that costs about 50% throughput. So I was hoping that there is a cheap, small GBit switch which has a GBIC slot). All I found so far are very expensive managed switches with 12 or 24 ports for industry use.

• OpenVPN Server Ethernet Bridging Question

  Hello All, I am having a difficult time properly configuring an ethernet bridge using OpenVPN 2.0.9 install on CentOS 5 ( VPN server ). The goal that I am trying to complete is to connect a VM ( instance running on the same CentOS machine ) acting as a Microsoft Business Contact Manager server. I would then like this "BCM server" to serve Windows XP clients on 192.168.1.0/24 network as well as clients connecting from VPN ( 10.8.0.0/24 ). The setup as it is now was based off a known working configuration. The problem with the working configuration was that it would allow to the client to connect and access everything running on the VPN server ( SVN, Samba, VM Server ) but not any computers on the 192.168.1.0/24 network. I must disclose that the VPN server is behind a router/firewall.   I'm planning to have a dual-boot on my computer. I have 2 physical hard drives, one 500GB and one 2TB. What I want to do, is have a dual-boot setup (2 partitions, both 50 GB) for Windows 8 and Windows 7. But will I be able to access the 3rd partition on the disk, or the other disk from both OSs? In this case, it would be really useful to access files and install programs, because I could use them on both OSs, as long as I have the same registry keys.

  Hi Folks, For a party we want to show film-fragments using a projector. We have around 50 full-length movie avis and would like to shuffle them in shorter pieces. So every ca. 2-5 minutes another piece should begin. For example a sequence could be: Movie05-12m00s-14m30s, Movie08-55m50s-57m00s, Movie02-02m42s-06m40s, etc. So, random movies, at random positions within the movie of random lengths. What would be the kind of solution we're looking for? We were thinking 2 scenarios: Before doing this use some kind of tool to cut all avis in smaller pieces and put them on shuffle in a regular media player A sort of "VJ" program that can do this shuffle mixing realtime. Any suggestions for any of the above scenarios? Thanks!

  I have a bootable ISO designed to be burned to a double-layer DVD. I don't have a double layer DVD burner, so I would like to stick the ISO image on a 50 GB partition on a USB hard drive I have. How do I get the boot info onto the hard drive? If it helps, it's an OSx86 Live CD. Has anyone seen this behaviour before or an idea to save my day?!? This is extremely confusing and actually insane behaviour from what i understand about umask and file permissions.

Ideally, I would like a command-line solution (I've been trying to use tc), something that I could easily switch on and off in a script. So far I've been trying to do something like tc filter add dev eth0 protocol ip prio 50 u32 police rate 100kbit burst 10240 drop but I'm obviously missing a lot of knowledge and information.   I'm trying to set up email on my server, and have successfully set up POP3 with gmail for my main account. When attempting to set up another user though, gmail reports ` There was a problem communicating with dylanstestserver.com. I can't figure out why it's working for me and not the other users. I do receive email sent to the address on the server. • How to copy files between windows 7 professional and enterprise machines?

  I've got a desktop system running Windows 7 Professional and a laptop running windows 7 Enterprise in a domain-joined computer and I need to copy around 50 GB of files from the Enterprise machine to the professional one. I'd rather not burn a bunch of DVDs or use my tiny flash drive of 1 GB to do the transfer. How can I mount a drive from one of the computers to the other so that I can just drag and drop? I tried using a homegroup, but the windows 7 Enterprise laptop does not see it from the professional desktop and the laptop cannot make its own homegroup since it belongs to a domain.

• Wi-Fi connection drops when downloading torrents, but wired connection still works

  After downloading for an hour or so, the Wi-Fi connection on my tablet stops working; forcing me to restart my router(it basically hangs when trying to connect). This only happens when downloading torrents. WIRED connection on my desktop PC with router still works fine; no issues at all. I tired to lower the number of global connections to 50, but I still have the problem. I have also updated to the latest Linksys firmware. One PC, a tablet and a smartphone. I have COX cable. Please let me know if you need any other info. Thank you!

  I am planning to deploy a NetFlow server (using NfSen/NfDump) for harvesting data from Cisco devices; Are there standard calculations or guidelines I can use to calculate my server requirements, specifically I need to plan for storage. Is there a way of knowing how much data I will collect per day for example, given N flows? Lets say one device has 10k flows per day, this is typically XYZ MBs, so I can scale this up? If not, how many flows are you guys and girls recording per day, and how much data is this generating? Hopefully we can generate an estimate from everyone else's figures! P.S. If it makes a difference, I'll be collecting from <= 50 devices max (non more than 50Mbps each).

  I recently formatted an HP G62 Laptop and installed all drivers from the HP site that should be installed for this model. But i noticed a very strange behavior, using Coretemp, the temp is always above 50 (on idle) and reaches 70 very quickly sometimes (Critical is 90) If i open youtube or skype alone, i can get temperatures as high as 83. Normally it was around 32 (on idle) and reaches 70 when i open games but not youtube.... I have a i3 processor and AMD graphics so i am wondering if somehow it's a graphics card issue (since i3 has integrated graphics as far as i know) Device manager shows only AMD graphics card tho, not sure if i3 graphics should appear here too. Any ideas what i might have forgotten to do after the format ?

  I recently formatted an HP G62 Laptop and installed all drivers from the HP site that should be installed for this model. But i noticed a very strange behavior, using Coretemp, the temp is always above 50 (on idle) and reaches 70 very quickly sometimes (Critical is 90) If i open youtube or skype alone, i can get temperatures as high as 83. Normally it was around 32 (on idle) and reaches 70 when i open games but not youtube.... I have a i3 processor and AMD graphics so i am wondering if somehow it's a graphics card issue (since i3 has integrated graphics as far as i know) Device manager shows only AMD graphics card tho, not sure if i3 graphics should appear here too. Any ideas what i might have forgotten to do after the format ?

• Replacing files in a folder structure with files from an unsorted folder

  I have over 50,000 PDFs organized into folders in a file called PDFACT. I needed to compress these files so I ran them through Adobe to batch compress them and this worked—except Adobe could only output the files without their folder structure. So basically I have 50,000 PDFs set up in a folder with hundreds of subfolders, and everything was organized. I ended up with one folder with 50,000 compressed PDFs in it, just in alphabetical order. Somehow I need to replace all the orginal PDFs with their compressed copies. Let me give an example: In the folder PDFACT we have the following file: C:\PDFACT\BIG DINNER\BILL\NEWESTBILL.PDF … and in the output folder that Adobe created we have just: C:\COMPRESSED_PDF_FOLDER\NEWESTBILL.PDF This copy is smaller then the one in PDFACT and has the same name but it is just lumped in with every other PDF. The folder structure and subfolders are gone. Is there any way to replace all the larger uncompressed PDFS inside the orginal folder structure with their now compressed counterparts?

• Thunderbird gives " Not enough disk space " alert, after trying to download more emails ( Win 7, 64 bit )

  So, today I have installed Mozilla Thunderbird 24.2.0 on my Windows 7 (64 bit) machine. It was downloading emails, until it hit an error. An alert showed up saying : "There is not enough disk space to download new messages. Try deleting old mail, emptying the Trash folder, and compacting your mail folders, and then try again." Now, disk space is not a problem, there is enough free space left ( almost 50 % of the drive ). How to stop the alert and continue downloading ?

• terminal tools and logs for debugging TCP issues

  I have a server which I am testing for functionality (not load, not stress) with tsung. 50 users / second, 100 total users. Judging from tsung (tsung is the testing framework) graphs, there TCP connections (red line) drops to 0 while the commenced user sessions (green line) does not. Server logs show nothing to be gripping onto, so I am speculating some kind of TCP issue. Should this be the case ? Where would I look further on the server, any logs / tools to be looking at ? • Tracking down random BSOD on windows 7

  I have gotten a computer running windows 7 handed to me that randomly, several times a day, bsods with a PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA (50) or WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR (124). Crashes happens regardless of load. I am running out of ideas for how to track this down. Analyzing the minidumps shows the crash to be in ntkrnlmp.exe/WMIADAP.exe System has plenty of power (600w) Ram checks out fine using memtest86+ over a weekend. System is clean inside. No dust build up. Temperatures stay low. As far as I know (and reliability history shows) no new drivers were installed for several months before the problems started. All drivers are now up to date. sfc /scannow reports the system as clean. CHKDSK reports the disks as clean Removing the AV (Avast) has no effect. Any more things that should be tried on windows 7 before I start replacing the hardware?

• DNS failover across multiple datacenters?

  I've got a site that is starting to get a lot of traffic and just the other day, we had a network outage at the datacenter where our loadbalancer (haproxy) is hosted at. This worried me as despite all my efforts of making the system fully redundant, I still could not make our DNS redundant, which I think isn't an easy solution. Only thing I was able to find was to sign up for DNS failover from places like dnsme, etc .... but they cost too much for budding startups. Even their Corporate plan only gives you 50 million queries per month and we use that up in a week. So my question is, are there any self hosted DNS we can do that provides the failover like how dnsme does it?

  Greetings! We're using OpenVPN and today hit an unexpected connection limit of 60 - even though max-clients is set to the source code default 1024.
