• Google checkout callback API sending ack but nothing else?

  I am putting together a test google checkout implementation and I cannot seem to get the code in the responsehandler demo to do anything aside from send acknowledgements. Even something as simple as uncommenting the folling lines case 'CHARGEABLE': { $Grequest->SendProcessOrder($data[$root]['google-order-number']['VALUE']); $Grequest->SendChargeOrder($data[$root]['google-order-number']['VALUE'],''); break; Isn't having the expected effect of causing the order to automatically be charged. The error log googlecheckout creates has no errors in it, and the message log shows that xml is being properly recieved and acknlowlegments are sent. Does anyone have a clue on how to start troubleshooting this? I am still rather fresh with PHP.

The scripts almost works, except for not waiting long enough to receive an IP (it cycles to next step in the until loop too quick). • 'is instanceof' Interface bad design

  Say I have a class A class A { Z source; } Now, the context tells me that 'Z' can be an instance of different classes (say, B and C) which doesn't share any common class in their inheritance tree. I guess the naive approach is to make 'Z' an Interface class, and make classes B and C implement it. But something still doesn't convince me because every time an instance of class A is used, I need to know the type of 'source'. So all finishes in multiple 'ifs' making 'is instanceof' which doesn't sound quite nice. Maybe in the future some other class implements Z, and having hardcoded 'ifs' of this type definitely could break something. The escence of the problem is that I cannot resolve the issue by adding functions to Z, because the work done in each instance type of Z is different. I hope someone can give me and advice, maybe about some useful design pattern. Thanks

  Hello - I am currently starting to create an app for a small charity company. But Im not entirely sure how to properly learn how to code for the Android OS. I have searched online for tutorials but most stop at the same stage and only show you how to launch the "helloWorld" app. My question is this: 1) Will using solely XML be sufficient to code an app? Does it require working in partnership with java? 2) Does anyone know of any books, recommended books of course, that break everything down for you step-by-step? Cheers

  I need to create a MySQL query that generates 4 rows for each row in the table it references. I need some of the information in those rows to repeat and some to be different. In the table each row stands for one day. I need to break the day up in 6 hour increments, hence the four rows for each entry. I need to create one column which for each day will have '12AM', '6AM', '12PM', and '6PM' values and another column will have the corresponding numeric values calculated for those entries.   Hello stackers, I was arguing about an S3 like aproach using authorization hash with a secret key as the seed and some data on the request as the message signed with hmac sha1 (Amazon S3 way) vs an other developer supporting symetric encryption of the data with a secret key known by the emiter and the server. What are the advantage of using signed data with hmac sha1 vs symetric key other than the fact that with the former, we do not need to encrypt the username or password. What would be the hardest to break ? symetric encryption or sha1 hashing at la S3 ? If all big players are using oauth and similar without symetric key it is sure that there are obvious advantages, what are those ?

• Log4net 1.2.10 running on .NET 1.1 and 2.0 not compatible

  I have old code that uses log4net version 1.2.10 targeted for the .NET 1.1 platform. My current code uses lognet version 1.2.10 targeted for the .NET 2.0 platform When I mix the old and new code all hell breaks loose. Code written today on .NET 4.0 and VS2010 can use the 2.0 log4net dll just fine. but if I put in the 1.1 version, it breaks. Conversely, the old dlls will break if I use the 2.0 log4net dll. I do not want to force my old dlls onto 2.0. Is there a good solution? I guess what bugs me most is that the log4net has the same version number, but I cannot fool my code and dlls into working with a single version.

• Is `eval`ing in a CPAN module without localizing $@ a bug?

  I think I've encountered a bug in Params::Validate, but I'm not sure whether I identified the problematic code piece correctly. The code in question failed to pass exceptions up the chain (using Try::Tiny), so I started debugging and found out that a class used inside the try block has a destructor. This destructor calls object methods which use Params::Validate and looking into Validate.pm source I see an eval without $@ localization, i.e. the global $@ gets overwritten. Now I see two options: Params::Validate should always localize $@ and thus it's a bug that should be reported. The bug is in the class in question, because it shouldn't use Params::Validate in a destructor. Params::Validate can stay as it is now. Which one is it? How I should I handle this situation? PS: I think that CPAN modules should be rock-solid and neither break themselves nor their environment, hence the question title.

• Finding the next record in the database with Active Record

  So I have my rails application and I have blog posts in my application. For starters I am on rails 2.3.5 and Ruby 1.8.7 For the show page, I am required to give a prev/next link to the prev/next blog post. The catch is that I need to find the next blog where the language column in the database is equal to 'eng'. • sqlite & python - only pulls the first result

  This is pretty strange (admitedly, this is my first attempt with python / sqlite), but I can seem to get all of the rows if I do a fetchAll(), but other than that - no matter what I try, always ends up in the db only returning the first row - the second iteration stops because a null is returned. Wondering if there is something wrong with how I am coding this up in python? • In Scala 2.8 collections, why was the Traversable type added above Iterable?

  I know that to be Traversable, you need only have a foreach method. Iterable requires an iterator method. Both the Scala 2.8 collections SID and the "Fighting Bitrot with Types" paper are basically silent on the subject of why Traversable was added. The SID only says "David McIver... proposed Traversable as a generalization of Iterable." I have vaguely gathered from discussions on IRC that it has to do with reclaiming resources when traversal of a collection terminates? The following is probably related to my question. • Cheap Wifi enabled Android or other programmable device

  Does anyone know of a cheap Android or programmable device that has wifi? I need it for a project for a company that needs a wifi handheld device for the shop floor. Im not too fussed about the language the device uses though Im not really interested in the iTouch as theres no intention to release the app in the app store and I don`t really want to jail break everybodys iTouch. Ideally it would be small , iTouch size for example and relatively cheap $100 or less. Nothing fancy just ability to write a simple UI and have wifi. Voice is not needed. Not too fussed about touch or qwerty keyboard either.
