• Does anyone knows the algorithm how Facebook detects the images when adding a link

  When you add a link to your Facebook page, after some processing, Facebook presents you a next/prev button to choose an image linked to the url your are inserting. Obviously, Facebook reads the html-page and displays the images found on the url you insert. Does anyone knows what algorithm Facebook uses to decide what images to show ? If I insert a link to : http://www.staplijst.be/lachende-wandelaars-aalter-aktivia-003.asp, only 11 images are detected. The one I want, the one at the top right corner, is not included in the list. If I insert a link to http://www.staplijst.be/stichting-kennedymars-rijsbergen-zundert-nederland-knblo-nl-81996.asp, 19 images are displayed (including the one I want (the one at the right top corner of the text area). Both pages are build using asp code but are functionally the same. I thought that it has something to do with the image size, but can't find any deciding factor there. I will investigate some furhter, because if I know what Facebook is looking for, I can make sure that the correct images are included on the page (since they are dynamic pages build with classic asp). But if anyone has any idea ? Help would be appreciated.

  I have a confusion that when i pass a variable by refrence in the constructor of another class and after passing that object by refrence i recreate the refrence object with the new keyword. Now the class in which i have passed the refrenced object dosen't reflect the updated data. • Multiple remote_form_for on the same page causes duplicate ids

  I've got a rails app that displays a list of items called modules. I'm iterating over these, rendering a partial for each one that includes a remote_form_for call. This all works, but fails HTML validation because my form text fields all have the same id. Is there a :prefix option on the form (or something else) I can use to get around this? I can customize the form id pretty easily, but what about the text_box, since the controller is looking for specific named controls?

• How to make a panel behave like a modal for the form

  Hi All, I have a MDI child Form which displays items that are already in the database. I use a datagridview (PostedItemsDataGrid) to display the items... I also have a Button which enables user to edit the line selected in the datagridview. There are also other controls on the form other than the two controls specified. I use a panel (Name : UpdateItemsPanel) containing various controls to edit the item selected... I want to display this form Modally... ie... When this form is active, user should not be allowed to access any controls other than the controls in the UpdateItemsPanel. I tried the following but got into other problems... If you can help me in solve either the main or one of these problems, it would be great help. I tried putting the contents of UpdateItemsPanel in a seperate form and show it as modal... The trouble was showing the update form as modal, blocks all other MDI forms also. Other problem with this 1 is, I need to position the modalform just below the PostedItemsDataGrid... I'm not sure How to do it... I tried putting the other controls in a panel and disabling the panel when updatepanel is displayed. This ofcourse, makes the (PostedItemsDataGrid) disabled and hence unable to scroll... Could you please help.... Please let me know, incase you need more info...

• CloseHandler<Window> and Window.ClosingHandler() working differently in IE

  It seems that CloseHandler and Window.ClosingHandler() are not working or are not triggering the events in the same way under IE as opposed to Firefox. This does not occur in Firefox. The CloseHandler doesn't seem to trigger at all when the window closes in IE, but does so in firefox. The interesting thing to point out there, is that when I put a Window.alert("debug1") message in the addCloseHandler() method it DOES run the callback below, but as soon as I remove it, the callback doesn't happen. In firefox it works and runs the callback in both situations. So, I'm basically pulling my hair out not really understanding what's going on. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Your computer may not have enough memory to open the image, or the image may be corrupted. Restart your computer, and then open the file again. If the red x still appears, you may have to delete the image and then insert it again. If i copy the html code and try to open the word document on my local machine, it displays the image correctly. It just doesn't work when retrieving the document from the server. This happens for any images I try to add. Is there another way to add images to html-generated word documents that can be output from an asp page? Thanks.

• Home_path issue with RoR testing locally on mobile device

  When I use <%= link_to image_tag("foo.png"), home_path %> and display it on my localhost on my iPhone, it's broken. When I inspect on with firebug, the src of the image is http://localhost:3000/images/foo.png thus causing it to break on my iPhone. When I use <img src="/images/foo.png" /> it displays fine on my iPhone. I am pointing to the IP address of my PC running the server of my rails app in Safari. It's loading the text but all the css, JavaScript, and images are missing unless the path is absolute with using the rails default helpers. Is there a way to correct this path issue locally so it's absolute like /images/foo.png instead of http://localhost:3000/images/foo.png. Update CSS file paths are also affected. Instead of just making the path /stylesheets/foo.css, it's http://localhost:3000/stylesheets/foo.css. Update: Solution It's the Facebook plugin changing the asset host to the callback url of my facebook app settings which is currently set to http://localhost:3000/

  I'm trying to create a simple app, whose main task is to open the browser on defined URL. I didn't figured out, how to go directly do the browser (without displaying the GUI). Anyone knows?

• Attachment empty/blank when sending mail using phpmailer

  Hello! I am using phpmailer class to send email and i am attaching a file to the mail. The email is sent successfully but the attachment which is an sql file is empty which should not be the case. I have tried with an image file, but it seems that every file that i attach is empty. • Execute codes in a different page but remain on the same actual php page

  I have a complicated problem here..I have codes to send mail using PEAR which i have tested in a php page called testmail.php. Now i have my actual application an a page called Cart.php where i have a button called Place Order. When i click on this button, it actually redirects to a url called : http://localhost/final/index.php?OrderSuccessful which actually displays a message on the page and sends an email. The problem is that when i put the code for email in Cart.php, i get errors. But when i put the url http://localhost/final/testmail.php it actually works. • Flex fixed and variable height - can it be set in markup?

I expect the bottom panel's height to contain the remaining height, but it somehow overflows off-page. • Strange behaviour with PHP/Pear HTML_Quickform and Firfox 3.6

  I am using PHP/Pear HTMLQuickForm and HTMLQuickForm_Controller to do some stuff with HTML-forms. Then I noticed that certain phone numbers would not be displayed even though the data had been loaded correctly. I boiled it down to the following rather strange phenomenons that have me completely baffled: $this->addElement('static', null, 'Telefon:', '04556-8978765'); will just show "Telefon:" in Firefox 3.6. In IE8 I see "Telefon: 04556-8978765" as expected. $this->addElement('static', null, 'Telefon:', '904556-8978765'); displays just "Telefon: 9" in Firefox 3.6 and correctly "Telefon: 904556-8978765" in IE8. On the other hand $this->addElement('static', null, 'Telefon:', '099828-67776554'); shows "Telefon: 099828-67776554" in both browsers. So my question is this: What is so special about the string 04556-8978765 that Firefox 3.6 refuses to render it? And it gets even weirder: The string 0208-23345 and 02232-12345 have the same problem, but when I prefix them with any other character, then unlike 04556-8978765 they are displayed alright. And it is not as if the missing strings are not rendered at all. On page reload I see them for a short time and then they disappear for good. Now try to guess the result of $this->addElement('static', null, 'Telefon:', '04556-8978765'); $this->addElement('static', null, 'Telefon:', '04556-8978765'); Right, it is not Telefon: 04556-8978765 Telefon: 04556-8978765 as expected, but rather Telefon: Telefon: 04556-8978765 Can anybody make any sense of this?

  In my application I am using WebView and in that I am using JavaScript alert( ) method but its not working, no pop-up appears. in my manifest file I have added <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.INTERNET"></uses-permission> and in activity file I have added mWebView = (WebView) findViewById(R.id.webview); mWebView.getSettings().setJavaScriptEnabled(true); mWebView.loadUrl("file:///android_asset/demo.html"); In layout xml file I have added <WebView android:id="@+id/webview" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" /> Any clue how to enable full JavaScript in WebView. Update Thanks mark the alert() method in the html file are working now :) . Now there are two issues in WebView : 1: I am using a in the html file that i am loading in WebView , and trying to write in Hindi language font in it, but when i try to write Hindi text it displays as symbols ( rectangle symbols like [] ) . when i do the same in firefox browser on desktop it works fine. any clue how to give support for multiple language in textarea in WebView ? 2: When I am clicking submit and trying to open the value of text in alert() method in another java script it doesn't work , does it mean even after using WebChromeClient its applicable only for current loaded html page and not java scripts called from that page ?

• Downloading Spreadsheets From Google Docs

  Hello, I am working on an Android app that uses the gdata-java-client to download documents for display only. So far I have an application that authenticates with the services and displays a list of user documents. When the user selects a document another query is made for the documents itself. A request for txt, html, rtf and doc files works well, however when I request a spreadsheet in either .csv or .xsl format the result is unexpected. I'm using an HTTPResponse object to store the result of a an HTTPRequest. When I request a document in .csv or .xsl format the HTTPResponse.parseAsString() method produces an entire html page which appears to be the Google Docs home page. Sounds strange, but the result is the actual html for the login page. The HTTPResponse.getStatusMessage returns a 200. Seems like I am missing something simple here. Is there another property of the HTTPResponse that contains the .csv data? I am pretty sure that I am using the correct uri for downloading spreadsheets because it works when I download through my browser. • Filter large amounts of data in a table w/ jQuery

  I work for a transit agency and I have large amounts of data (mostly times), and I need a way to filter the data using two textboxes (To and From). I found jQuery quick search, but it seems to only work with one textbox. If anyone has any ideas via jQuery or some other client side library, that would be fantastic. Ideal example: To: [Textbox] From:[Textbox] <table> <tr> <td>69th street</td><td>5:00pm</td><td>5:06pm</td><td>5:10pm</td><td>5:20pm</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Millbourne</td><td>5:09pm</td><td>5:15pm</td><td>5:20pm</td><td>5:25pm</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Spring Garden</td><td>6:00pm</td><td>6:15pm</td><td>6:20pm</td><td>6:25pm</td> </tr> </table> So If I start typing in one of the stations in the To: textbox it either displays dynamically like the quick search or i have to press a button (either or) and then in the from: textbox. Lastly it shows me to: station and all its times on the left and the from: station and all its times on the right.

• ASP .NET page runs slow in production

  I have created an ASP .NET page that works flawlessly and quickly from Visual Studio. It does a very large database read from a database on our network to load a gridview inside of an update panel. It displays progress in an Ajax modalpopupextender. Of course I don't expect it to be instant what with the large db reads, but it takes on the order of seconds, not on the order of minutes. This is all working great until I put it up on the server - it is very, VERY slow when I access it via the internet - takes several minutes to load the database information into the gridview. I'm baffled why it would not perform the exact same as it had from Visual Studio. (It is in release mode and I have taken off the debug flag) I have since been trying things like eliminating unneeded update panels and throwing out the ajax tool. Nothing has made it any faster on production. It is not the database as far as I know, since it has been consistently fast from my computer (from visual studio) and consistently slow from the server. I am wondering, where do I look next? Has anyone else had this problem before? Could this be caused by update panels or Ajax modalpopupextenders in different parts of the application? Why would the live behaviour differ so much from the localhost behaviour? Both the server with the ASP .NET page and the server with the database are servers on our network. I'm using Visual Studio 2008. Thank you in advance for any insight or advice.

• FBPermissionDialog bug, showing "Welcome to Facebook" page

  I'm experiencing a weird bug that I can replicate pretty consistently with the FBConnect iPhone SDK, more specifically with the class FBPermissionDialog. The result is that instead of seeing the standard extended permissions dialog, the user is shown this: http://cl.ly/15Lx. The only way around it is for the user to delete the app and reinstall. This is how I have replicated it: On first login, the user is asked for extended permissions on something (the dialog displays correctly). The user declines the permission. User quits the app. The user relaunches the app and since we still need the permission, we ask again. Instead of the permission dialog, the user is shown the "Welcome to Facebook" page. The only way for the user to get asked again is to delete the app and reinstall. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a workaround? • Strings exported from a module have extra line breaks

  In a DrScheme project, I'm using a MrEd editor-canvas% with text% and inserting a string from a literal in a Scheme file. This results in an extra blank line in the editor for each line of text I'm trying to insert. I've tracked this down to the apparent fact that string literals from outside modules are getting extra line breaks. Here's a full example. • How do I create an "iframe popup" when I hover over an <a> tag?

  Here is the scenario: a User will see a list of company names, each wrapped in an tag. He is able to see dynamic information and as he hover over each name and then make a request. So Given a list of companies, each wrapped in an tag. When the cursor hovers over an tag Then a "pop-up" appears that contains an -based, dynamic content. Given the pop-up When the User clicks on the "submit" button in the pop-up Then the form (based on the framework" is submitted and ajax displays "request succesful" So, because I am using a php-framework, I'd like to use iframe to contain the form. Some challenges: When the cursor is no longer hovering over the tag, the hover disappears. How do I keep it operating? How do I make it appear in an so I can have full form-submission and POST-ing dynamic values through the URL? How do the "popup" disappear when the cursor is no longer on either the -tag or the pop-up itself? Can I do it without loading a bunch of 's onto the page, because the list of companies could be long.

• My jQuery and PHP give different results on the same thing?

  Hey all, Annoying brain numbing problem. I have two functions to check the length of a string (primarily, the js one truncates as well) heres the one in Javascript: $('textarea#itemdescription').keyup(function() { var charLength = $(this).val().length; // Displays count $('span#charCount').css({'color':'#666'}); $('span#charCount').html(255 - charLength); if($(this).val().length >= 240){ $('span#charCount').css({'color':'#FF0000'}); } // Alerts when 250 characters is reached if($(this).val().length >= 255){ $('span#charCount').css({'color':'#FF0000'}); $('span#charCount').html('<strong>0</strong>'); var text = $('textarea#itemdescription').val().substring(0,255) $('textarea#itemdescription').val(text); } }); And here is my PHP to double check: if(strlen($_POST["description"])>255){ echo "Description must be less than ".strlen($_POST["description"])." characters"; exit(); } I'm using jQuery Ajax to post the values from the textarea. However my php validation says the strlen() is longer than my js is essentially saying. So for example if i type a solid string and it says 0 or 3 chars left till 255. I then click save and the php gives me the length as being 261. Any ideas? Is it to do with special characters, bit sizes that js reads differently or misses out? Or is it to do with something else? • Linking Mapkit with Core Data, Search and user location. Converting annotations from a database in a tableview with search to display in a mapview?

  Xcode is quite new to me so explanations are appreciated. I am looking to build an application that displays annotations in a mapview (zoomed in on current user location). I want the applications to come from some sort of database rather than manually inputting all the annotations (which is what I'm currently doing) What would be my application type? tab based? window based? i want a tab for a tableview with a list of my annotations and a mapview tab that will show my database of annotations but with the map zoomed in on current location. In a perfect world, it would be great if the user could add favourites from these annotations and keep them in a favourites tableview tab. I'm desperate to work this out and create a fully functional app for a final uni project. i have a working application already but it's nothing like what i am trying to achieve, any help would be much appreciated!!!! Jon (if looked through countless tutorials and as of yet found nothing i can understand to achieve a project like this. Some would call me too ambitious, I just want to make a decent app)
