• What tool do you use to create SVGT icons for your app?

  This is a question mainly for Symbian developers. I would like to create some demo apps to put on my mobile phone and have some kind of nice icon on the application grid. If I've understood correctly, the application grid icon needs to be in SVG Tiny format. The problem is I don't have any toolset to create such a format. There don't seem to be any free tools to edit or convert to SVG Tiny format. The cheapest option around seems to be e-Picture Pro for $169. Inkscape has had some initiative to make it SVGT-compliant, but not much seems to be happening there lately. So the question in short is how do you create your icons for your Symbian apps (or other uses that require SVG Tiny)?

• What program to use to create subtitles for a video?

  I have a video that I want to create subtitles for. Is there a program that can perform rudimentary speech-to-text in order to set the correct start/stop of each individual subtitle create rudimentary text subtitles (using some sort of speech-to-text) I know about gnome-subtitles. However, it requires extensive effort to create those subtitles manually. You need to select yourself the start and stop for each sentence. Youtube has the above features (creates rudimentary text subtitles at the correct timings, using speech-to-text). However I would rather not upload the videos to Youtube just to get my subtitles. Is it possible to do the subtitles efficiently in Ubuntu? Update: I plan to use the .srt subtitles only, and do not need to hard code them on the videos. My biggest requirement is to have the program automatically find the start/stop for each sentence, so that I write the text in it.

Major technique I have found so far are two: Some use a overlay and underlay div and fade in and out each others visibility. While others, create a div of exact size of the slider on the slider-initialization and play with its z-index property and then fade each other consequently. Disregarding them, what is a proper way or much better way to create a cross fade effect. P.S: I would love to read answer in form of algorithm.

  i have some rows of data displayed in a table and on mouse over of each row i've list two buttons inside a div element and then display it for some time. And i've associated some functions to be called on clicking the buttons that are dynamically created and displayed elements.. So what i did was i wrote a function which will create elements dynamically and place them exactly where i wanted using styles. And i wrote another function which will remove these dynamically added elements. I called them on mouseover and mouseout events of the row. now when i move mouse out the row to click the button they get disappeared bcoz of my mouseout function. So how can i proceed this? And what is the perfect method to create these kind of stuffs?

• How to create NTFS partition in Linux to install Windows 7 from USB?

  I messed up with my computer and need help. Generally: install Windows 7 from USB. Problem: "setup was unable to create a new system partition" When first attempt to install Windows 7 failed I tried Linux live USB, installed distro to HDD, and erased all the existing partitions. Current state (fdisk -l): [writing from other computer so no copy and paste] /dev/sda1 305GB Linux /dev/sda2 7GB Extended /dev/sda5 7GB Linux Swam / Solaris To create a new, NTFS partition: fdisk /dev/sda n (for new) p (for primary) 3 (for partintion number) "No free sectors available" All the HDD was formatted couple of minutes before so there is a lot of free space but how to resize a parition? I cannot find an option for resizing in man fdisk. Some people say I should use gparted but my distro doesn't not contain this package. And my distro doesn't support wireless drivers so I have serious problems with downloading stuff. I tried also using cfdisk but any command results in: "cfdisk bad primary partition 1 partition ends in the final partial cylinder" I tried also removing partition 1 and then creating a new one (so there is no "no free sectors"). I'm receiving a warning: "Re-reading the partition table failed with error 16: Device or resource busy. The kernel still uses the old table. The new table will be used at the next reboot." After restating: "grub rescue, no known filesystem" It may indicate that some changes have been made BUT when running Windows 7 installed some another error: "Windows cannot be installed to Disk 0 Partition 1" More detailed: "Windows cannot be installed to this hard disk space. Windows must be installed to a partition formatted as NTFS." So formatting drive using Windows 7 installer BUT this time yet another error: "Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system partition. See the setup log files for more information" Apparently I cannot access logs (how?) and I am back to drawing board with my live USB (this time showing partition as HPFS/NTFS). Any suggestions how to install Windows 7? Should I reinstall Linux to HDD, erase existing partitions once again, and use Parted rather than gparted (parted is included in the distro). Or maybe should I create another bootable USB such as PartedMagic to painlessly create partitions? I just want to install Windows 7 from USB, my laptop is semi-operational and I am ready to receive some help regarding fdisk and creating NTFS partitions. UPDATE: I did as suggested (removed all the partitions) and tried to install in unallocated space. Tried to create a new partition and format it. Same error: "setup was unable to create a new system partition" Came to the conclusion it may have something to do with TrueCrypt I have recently installed. Right now trying to FIX MBR (as I haven't got possibility to create rescue disc without optical drive)

We used to have the following stuff : class Blah { float[][] data; public float[] GetDataReference(int index) { return data[index]; } } For various reasons, I have replaced this jagged array version with a 1 dimensionnal array version, concatenating inner arrays.   I have a simple quiz application and I want display a nice timer / clock at the top of the page which shows the user how long they've been going for. (If I could somehow show them a timer for Total Quiz Time and also a second one for This Question Time that would be even cooler but I should be able to figure out how to do myself that once I've got one timer working. My question is: What's a nice, easy way to show a simple timer / clock using JQuery? (straight JS is also ok) I know how to check time, but how do I get incrementing seconds? My own searches keep leading me to JQuery plugins (I want to roll my own) and also "event timers" which are not what I'm looking for...

  I'm struggling with AJAX POST from the form that was loaded into Twitter Bootstrap modal dialog. Partial view form goes like this: @using (Html.BeginForm()) { // fields // ... // submit <input type="submit" value="@ButtonsRes.button_save" /> } Now this is being used in non AJAX editing with classic postbacks. Is it possible to use the same partial for AJAX functionality? Or should I abstract away the inputs into it's own partial view? Like this: @using (Ajax.BeginForm()) { @Html.Partial("~/Views/Shared/ImageEditInputs.cshtml") // but what to do with this one then? <input type="submit" value="@ButtonsRes.button_save" /> } I know how to load this into Bootstrap modal but few changes should be done on the fly: the buttons in Bootstrap modal should be placed in a special container (the modal footer), the AJAX POST should be done when clicking Save which would first, validate the form and keep the modal opened if not valid (display the errors of course) second, post and close the modal if everything went fine in the view that opened the modal, display some feedback information at the top that save was succesful. I'm mostly struggling where to put what JS code.   I have a StackedBarSeries in Silverlight 4 charting (latest release). I have created a DataPointStyle called MyDataPointStyle for a custom tooltip. By itself this breaks the standard palette used for the different bars. I've applied a custom palette - as described in David Anson's blog to the chart. However when I have the DataPointStyle set for my SeriesDefinition objects it does not use this palette. I'm not sure what I'm missing - but David specifically says : ... it enables the use of DynamicResource (currently only supported by the WPF platform) to let users customize their DataPointStyle without inadvertently losing the default/custom Palette colors. (Note: A very popular request!)   I'm working on a project where I need to use PowerPoint from C#.net. Initially, I always created one single instance. As of today, I would like to have multiple instance running. I do that like so: Type powerpointType = Type.GetTypeFromProgID("PowerPoint.Application"); object instance1 = Activator.CreateInstance(powerpointType); object instance2 = Activator.CreateInstance(powerpointType); but when I ask for the handle of both instances, by calling hwnd = (int)powerpointType.GetProperty("HWND").GetValue(instance1, null); then I get the same handle twice. My conclusion is that the application is started just once, and the TaskManager comfirms that: Only one process. How come there is only one instance of PowerPoint running, and how can I make it work?
