  • Can I trigger an Update Panel from a Drop Down list in a User Control

    I have a user control in a master page with two drop down lists. When the user selects an item out of either ddl, I want to load a specific user control inside an update panel on the content page. I know how to load the controls in the update panel, but I can't figure out how to get the user control to trigger the update panel. Any suggestions are very much appreciated.

The User logs into the system when the application first starts and the UserID number is stored and used throughout the app., but when they want to change user (UserID) they have to close the system down and start again. How would I go about creating a 'log out' - 'login' function that keeps the main form open but disabled allowing a new user to login?

    Hi, I am using HttpContext.Current.User.Identity.Name to get a user id from 2 web application i'am developping. the problem is when i'am loggin in teh first application i get always HttpContext.Current.User.Identity.Name value (i put test in Application_AuthenticateRequest event) but when i log in teh 2nd application adn i ty to naviagte trough the 1st application teh HttpContext.Current.User.Identity.Name loses value. Environnement of test : Windows XP / VS.NET 2005 / Authentication forms BTW : both application are deployed in teh same machine Thank you for your help

  • Java app makes screen display unresponsive after 10 minutes of user idle time

    I've written a Java app that allows users to script mouse/keyboard input (JMacro, link not important, only for the curious). I personally use the application to automate character actions in an online game overnight while I sleep. Unfortunately, I keep coming back to the computer in the morning to find it unresponsive. Upon further testing, I'm finding that my application causes the computer to become unresponsive after about 10 minutes of user idle time (even if the application itself it simulating user activity). I can't seem to pin-point the issue, so I'm hoping somebody else might have a suggestion of where to look or what might be causing the issue. The relevant symptoms and characteristics: Unresponsiveness occurs after user is idle for 10 minutes User can still move the mouse pointer around the screen Everything but the mouse appears frozen... mouse clicks have no effect and no applications update their displays, including the Windows 7 desktop I left the task manager up along the with the app overnight so I could see the last task manager image before the screen freezes... the Java app is at normal CPU/Memory usage and total CPU usage is only ~1% After moving the mouse (in other words, the user comes back from being idle), the screen image starts updating again within 30 minutes (this is very hit and miss... sometimes 10 minutes, sometimes no results after two hours) User can CTRL-ALT-DEL to get to Windows 7's CTRL-ALT-DEL screen (after a 30 second pause). User is still able to move mouse pointer, but clicking any of the button options causes the screen to appear to freeze again On some very rare occasions, the system never freezes, and I come back to it in the morning with full responsiveness The Java app automatically stops input scripting in the middle of the night, so Windows 7 detects "real" idleness and turns the monitors into Standby mode... which they successfully come out of upon manually moving the mouse in the morning when I wake up, even though the desktop display still appears frozen Given the symptoms and characteristics of the issue, it's as if the Java app is causing the desktop display of the logged in user to stop updating, including any running applications. Programming concepts and Java packages used: Multi-threading Standard out and err are rerouted to a javax.swing.JTextArea The application uses a Swing GUI awt.Robot (very heavily used) awt.PointerInfo awt.MouseInfo System Specs: Windows 7 Professional Java 1.6.0 u17 In conclusion, I should stress that I'm not looking for any specific solutions, as I'm not asking a very specific question. I'm just wondering if anybody has run into a similar problem when using the Java libraries that I'm using. I would also gladly appreciate any suggestions for things to try to attempt to further pinpoint what is causing my problem. Thanks!   • iOS: Gesture recogniser for smooth scrolling and flicking a View

    I am building an iPad app where I needed to allow resizing views functionality using divider view provided between two views. This divider view is just a 20px height view between two half screen content views - please refer attached images. When user scrolls this divider view up or down, both content views changes their sizes appropriately. I have extended UIView and implemented this using touchMoved delegate as code given below in touchesMoved delegate. It works fine. The only thing is missing with TouchMoved is you can't flick divider view to top or bottom directly. You have to scroll all the way to top or bottom! To support flicking the view I have tried UIPanGestureRecognizer but I don't see smooth scrolling with it. When I handle split position change in UIGestureRecognizerStateChanged state, just touching divider view flick it to top or bottom. Handling split position change in UIGestureRecognizerStateEnded does the same but I don't see content view resizing with dividerview scrolling! Could someone please tell me how could I achieve both smooth scrolling of divider view with resizing content views(like touchMoved) and flicking the view. Any alternative approach would also fine.   • Updating DetailViewController from RootController

    I'm trying to create an iPad application with a similar user interface to Apple's Mail application, i.e: RootView controller (table view) on the left hand side of the split view for navigation with a multiple view hierarchy. When a table cell is selected a new table view is pushed on the left hand side The new view on the left side can update the detail view. I can accomplish both tasks BUT NOT TOGETHER. I mean I can make a multi-level table view in the RootController.(HERE you can find the working source code). Or I can make a single-level table view in the RootController which can update the detailViewController (here there is the source code:http://www.megaupload.com/?d=D6L0463G). Can anyone tell me how to make a multi-level table in the RootController which can update a detailViewController?     I need to display uploaded files on a web application, the flow is as follows User uploads file through web UI Validation on image Makes call to imageRepository.store( uploadedImage, user.getSite() ) The user wants the image displayed which adds <img src="${anUploadedImage.getUrl()}"/> but that is where I'm stuck, what can getUrl() do? The simple solution is to put it someplace and let Apache serve the file, but then I can't use the application to ensure that one user isn't modifying the URL to view other users files, which in this case is important

  • UIScrollView eating touches from its parent

    I have nested scrollViews (or rather a subclass of UIScrollView inside of an actual scrollview). I set the size of the inner view to its contentSize and set scrollEnabled = NO, because I only want the outside view scrolling. But the innerView occasionally eats touches and keeps the outerView from scrolling when it should. Is there something else I need to set to keep it from stealing the scrolling touches, but still allowing user interaction (e.g. editing a textView)?

    I'm looking at using the JasperReport Web Services to create user specific reports. As opposed to getting a user to supply the name of the user to use for the query (and therefore expose a risk of users viewing each others data), I'd like within JasperReport to pull out their identity from their (Basic) authentication details from the web service run report call and then use their user name as a query parameter when running the report. Is there any documentation or examples on how this can be achieved?

    I'm probably going about this the wrong way but... I’ve added a field to the User Profile called profile_real_name which is required by the user. Is there a way to access the details in CCK? For example in CCK when creating a new field I can access the user’s username with the ‘User reference’ Field type and setting the ‘Widget type’ to ‘Autocomplete text field’.     I know I can set up a role to allow user's to only edit their own pages, then go mark the appropriate pages to be authored by the appropriate user. But then I run into multiple users per page problems. Is there any way that you can explicitly only allow a user to edit certain (perhaps multiple) pages, while accounting for overlap in the case that more than one user may be allowed to edit the same page?     I'm bit confused. I've been building my sites with my own session system, but i'm not sure how secure the php's own session system is. My session system usually just has user id and quite harsh hash, which does not include user name or password for generation. I save the hash in the user database and as a cookie to confirm the user session on every page load. So my question is should i keep using my own systems or try out php sessions?

  • Navigating to rootViewController of non-visible UINavigationController CRASH

    First off I'n not sure if this is exactly the issue... but it appears to be central to the problem. There are vast gaps in what I know and this may be something very obvious. I have a split view controller with various Master and Detail Views. From one 'menu' branch I want to return to the rootView of both the Master & Detail Navigation Controllers when the user taps a 'Done' button. Initially I had the button positioned on the navigation bar of the master view. This is the code I was using: - (IBAction)doneClicked:(id)sender { UINavigationController *detailNav = [self.splitViewController.viewControllers objectAtIndex:1]; NSArray *allDetailViewControllers = detailNav.viewControllers; HomePage *destinationDetailVC = [allDetailViewControllers objectAtIndex:0]; destinationDetailVC.splitViewBarButtonItem = self.splitViewButton; [detailNav popToRootViewControllerAnimated:NO]; [self.navigationController popToRootViewControllerAnimated:NO]; } That works fine but if the device is in portrait mode it means the user has to open the menus to access the button. So I decided to put the 'Done' button onto the detail view NavBar instead. Using a delegate declared in the detailVC and adopted by the masterVC I am now using this method: - (void)theUserClickedDoneInTheDetailView:(DetailVC *)controller withButton:(UIBarButtonItem *)splitViewButton { UINavigationController *detailNav = [self.splitViewController.viewControllers objectAtIndex:1]; NSArray *allDetailViewControllers = detailNav.viewControllers; HomePage *destinationDetailVC = [allDetailViewControllers objectAtIndex:0]; destinationDetailVC.splitViewBarButtonItem = splitViewButton; [detailNav popToRootViewControllerAnimated: NO]; [self.navigationController popToRootViewControllerAnimated:NO]; } Both methods are in the MasterVC.m file The only difference between the two is that on is passed a UIBarButtonItem to use and the other has already had it passed when it is set in the detail view. That seems to be working because I do get a button. When the device is in Landscape mode both methods work fine. All behaviour as expected. When the device is in Portrait the first method still works fine. The second appears to work fine and the detail view is the rootView, the button for the menus is there BUT, as soon as I turn the device to landscape it crashes. The only thing I can think of is that it is because the masterView is hidden. Can anyone help...?

    I am dynamically loading user control in Button Click event, since these user controls are dynamically loaded I have to recreate all previous user controls as well per click. My user control just has two textboxes for now, but I am not able to persist my inputs across postbacks. My ids are same everytime. I have enableViewstate ="true" in all controls all up to page level. Please adivce.

    Everyone has a different way to tackle holiday shopping – Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, Cyber Monday, some have it done months in advance, and others wait until the very last minute.   For me, I’m not big into massive crowds so online shopping to the rescue.   Others thrive on the energy of being in the stores on the busiest shopping day of the year.  With last weekend marking the official kick-off to the holiday season, I thought I’d provide a round up of what’s trending:   Online numbers are looking up: According to comScore, for the holiday season-to-date, $16.4 billion has been spent online, marking a 16-percent increase versus the corresponding days last year. Thanksgiving Day – Why wait until Black Friday or Cyber Monday: Online shopping on Thanksgiving Day also increased, totaling $633 million in receipts, a 32 percent increase over Thanksgiving 2011 Black Friday – More than just in-store: Bargain hunters spent $1.042 billion online the day after Thanksgiving, a 26 percent increase of last year's Black Friday, according to new figures released today by market analyst ComScore Cyber Monday Week: Cyber Monday reached $1.465 billion in online spending, up 17 percent versus year ago, representing the heaviest online spending day in history and the second day this season (in addition to Black Friday) to surpass $1 billion in sales                 Cyber Monday is now being dubbed Cyber Week:  “The annual event is increasingly becoming Cyber Week instead of a one-day event as retailers open their arms for Americans who prefer to avoid crowds and compare prices online.” But, Cyber Monday continues its importance, driving a nearly 22% increase in year-over-year (YoY) online sales.
