  Does anyone know what the magic URL is for rebooting a WebSTAR DPC2100R2 with curl? I used to have a SurfBoard, and the curl command: curl http://192.168.100.1/reset.htm?reset_modem=Restart%20Cable%20Modem Would reset the modem. Sure, I can go power cycle it manually, but it's in the basement and I'm lazy :-). I did find out the URL to elevate the access permission, but nothing about rebooting/resetting yet.

  Every night when I leave work, I lock the screen via ubuntu's "power" button in the top right hand panel. When I come to work in the morning, I'm greeted with the log-in screen.   I'm able to use limit_req to rate-limit all requests to my server. However I'd like to remove the rate restriction for certain IP addresses (i.e. whitelist) and use a different rate restriction for certain others (i.e. certain IPs I'd like as low as 1r/s). I tried using conditionals (e.g. if ( $remote_addr = "1.2.3.4" ) {}) but that seems to work only with rewrite rules, not for rate-limit rules.

• Boost Audio Input on OS X?

  I'm using my 13" Mac Book Pro's audio input functionality with an external microphone (recent vintage, bought around Thanksgiving). I've increased my input volume to the maximum in system preference, but the resulting recorded volume (using iShowU HD) is very low. Is there anyway to increase the input volume/sensitivity beyond Apple's default settings? I've found plenty on google about increasing the OUTPUT volume, but I want to increase the input volume.

  I use a set of external USB speakers at the office which have no power-source other than my laptop USB port. Sometimes they're silent, and at others it sounds like an electric moth is fluttering around inside one of the speakers (the main speaker). This doesn't happen when my machine is doing any heavy crunching, it just comes and goes. This has happened with other USB speakers on other laptops too in my experience. Any idea on what causes this, and how I can fix it?

One of the datapoints I'm monitoring is a voltage status MIB which alerts if any of the internal voltages becomes too high or low - with the thresholds being set, presumably, by Sun at the time of manufacture.
