    I have a page called create.php. It receives post variables and sets up accounts. I don't want that page to be accessible by a user. What's the conventional way of achieving this? I think I remember reading something about including a page with a CONSTANT. If the CONSTANT is not present the page has been accessed directly. I think Wordpress also do it.

    The windows iis6 resource kit won't install on Windows 7 (Home Premium) so I copied it from another machine and selfssl.exe is giving me: Failed to generate the cryptographic key: 0x5 I tried the instructions here but am still getting the above error. I'm trying to set the common name of the certificate to a name other than the machine name so I can avoid the certificate errors in the browser. This is a test web application. I know I can just test with the browser errors, but I'd like to mimic real world conditions as much as possible. Is there any other way to generate your own ssl certificates for iis7.5?

  • Upgrading from Vista Home Basic to Vista Business

    I have a PC that came with Vista Home Basic, and I now have some need for Remote Desktop, which is not included in Home Basic, so I'd like to upgrade. Now, there is apparently some hack to get Remote Desktop working in Home Premium, and obviously, it's in Ultimate, but really, the Business Edition would be the best fit for us. Unfortunately, Windows Anytime Upgrade does not provide a path from Home Basic to Business. My question is, if I were to buy a standalone Vista Business license, could I use it to do an upgrade from my current Home Basic installation? Would it be simply entering the new license key?

    Hi, All I'm using English version of Vista and having problems with using programs that display Russian characters somewhere. For example dictionaries doesn't work for me, since they display Russian character. Also I see just "magic" characters in text editor (notepad) when open a Russian text file. I tried to change whole Vista Interface language to Russian, but it still didn't solve the problem. I CAN read any web page from browser, that's not a problem. Also adding "Russian" in "Text Services and Input Languages" doesn't solve this problem. Does anyone know how to solve this? Thanks. My System: 32-bit Windows Vista Home Premium - SP2

  • Plugging in USB flash drive only shows error 43, "Unknown device"

    My friend saved by his works onto my flash drive which was detectable/openable, but ... The very next day, the drive wouldn't show up in My Computer and Windows gave him error code 43 (Unknown device). I tried others few systems that once detected his flash drive but the problem still persisted. I don't know whether or not his flash drive is damaged but when plug/un-plugging, there are still sounds coming out though. Tried solutions: On Vista Home Premium (his computer): Uninstalled -- Restarted computer -- Re-installed (ERROR 43) On Windows 7 (my computer): Uninstalled -- Restarted computer -- Can't install (ERROR 43) It seems that my computer (Windows 7) had the lastest drivers already but still can't detect it. Its a Kingston DataTraveller 101 (DT101) 8GB. Could unplugging the flash drive without clicking "Safely Remove Hardware" have caused the problem?

  • Cannot access Ubuntu 10/04 after reinstalling Windows

    I had Windows Vista Home Premium on HP pavilion desktop. I partitioned the disk for Ubuntu and a swap disk partition and then I installed Ubuntu 10.04. When I would start my computer, I would be given a choice to start Windows or Ubuntu. Today I reinstalled Windows, and now the menu has disappeared. I don't see in windows the disk partition that I allocated to Ubuntu, so it means Ubuntu still exist but I can't load it. What can I do ?

  • Switched to xubuntu, unity theme wont go away

    I got fed up with unity and decided to switch to xubuntu, following the instructions on this thread. Almost everything went well, and I'm much happier with the system. but the window borders from the unity theme are still being used, overriding the xubuntu themes. I've uninstalled all the unity stuff that I can find. I have, however, kept compiz for some of its functionality. I note that if I disable the "Window Decoration" plugin the whole border disappears leaving nothing behind. I want to have normal xubuntu borders. (note that stuff like chromium that handles its own borders displays correctly) I'll gladly give more details, or upload screenshots. Just let me know what information would be helpful.     I have Dell studio with shared DSL internet connection my router is "NETGEAR DG834" & Network connection discription is "Broadcom netlink tm gigabit ethernet" this connection is working fine with dell laptop with Vista homepremium OS. My Question is? If i connect HPcompaq presario CQ61 in this connection it will automatically select Public network and display unidentified connection i tried several times but not suceeded its OS is Win7 home premium. but wireless networking is working fine only this problem is faceing with DSL cable connection when i diagnos the connection an error will generate "Local Area Connection does not have a valid IP configuration" in LAN Connection status window i noticed IPV4 & IPV6 Connectivity is showing "No Network Access" please can you clarify whats the problem.

Also I was wondering it there is any down side to it, or something i should be aware of. For example, image quality loss, GPU overloading, or anything important I should know. More than anything Im interested in your advice. Also the monitors do have built in speakers (HDMI sound output), is the sound going to be reproduced by only one monitor or both?     I have a Vaio VPCCW21FX with Windows 7 Home Premium. I'm trying to reach the bluetooth settings but to no avail. I could neither switch the bluetooth on nor find the settings for it. I have tried the following: In Start menu, typed bluetooth, found "Bluetooth" in Programs, clicked on it, but there was no response. Checked task manager, there's nothing related bluetooth. Headed for Control Panel, opened Add Devices or Printers, right-clicked on Vaio computer, clicked on Bluetooth Settings, and no response again. What's wrong with my laptop? How can I fix this?

    How do you set up a Windows Vista Home Basic desktop (wired) and a Windows 7 Home Premium laptop (wifi) on a home network so that they can share files and the printers connected to the desktop? The Win7 laptop may also be used on other networks. I'm going to have to set this up for my parents when I visit shortly. I currently use XP and am not really familiar with Vista or Win7 network setup. Would it be difficult to share between the Vista and Win7 machines and and XP machine? If not, how to add that?

  • HP Pavilion: Sound problem after Windows Vista SP2 update

    I have HP Pavilion dv-2051et notebook with Windows Vista Home Premium SP1. Recently the sound of my notebook completely went off and I poked up Windows sound settings and IDT HD Sound panel to bring it back, but to no avail (trust me, I looked at every setting). Then I made a system restore to the point located just before Vista SP2 was installed. The sounds came back. Afterwards, I installed Vista SP2 again, and the sounds went off again. SP2 installation causes complete loss of sounds of my notebook. What can I do to overcome this problem? I don't want to stay with SP1 but installing SP2 brings me a huge problem. Anyone experienced this lately? Any recommendations? Thanks in advance.

  • How to get transparent user interface background in Windows 7

    I use Windows 7 Home Premium. Recently, when I came through Photoshop in OSX, I was interested by its user interface. It has got a "100% transparent" user interface background, whereas it's usually gray in Windows. I googled for some glass solutions, but all of them provide a "transparent window" or a semi-transparent one, which makes the complete window transparent. These solutions do not work for me, as I just need the UI (gray) background transparent but require all the other elements (such as nav-bars, control buttons, etc.) to have no transparency. Below is a screenshot of what I'm saying: Is this a feature of Photoshop only? How can I achieve the same in Windows 7? Thanks in advance...:)
