  • I'm working on my resume for a job fair this week; any tips? [closed]

    - by buu700
This will change as I update the document, but here is my resume. The job fair I'm going to is really huge (very good chance that it will determine where I intern this summer), so I would definitely appreciate any possible assistance in polishing this up. Any advice possible will be appreciated, ranging from spacing or absurdly minor formatting issues, to rearranging bullet points, to browser incompatibilities, to major changes in anything I've organised or written. At the moment, my only specific question is whether easter eggs are acceptable (specifically, if representatives who understand the reference will generally frown upon my inclusion of "Hacked The Gibson", given the context). Also, if anyone wants to evaluate it (e.g. font size, final arrangement, etc.), here is a PDF snapshot of the document at the time this question was submitted (the final version will have a different file name and appropriate metadata, for the record). Thanks!

  • SharePoint 2007: Error message when adding a Web part to a list or library page

    - by Cherie Riesberg
Sytmptom:   You have a list or document library page (allitems.aspx) and you are trying to add a Web part.  You get an error message: Unable to add selected Web part(s).  (name of Web part): The file is not checked out.  You must first check out this document before making changes. Publishing features are not turned on and it is not a page that lives in a library accessible by the GUI. Solution:  Open the site in SharePoint Designer and check out the page. Then, check in the page after modifications are done.  It seems like this is just a bug.

  • What is the point in using real time?

    - by bobobobo
I understand that using real time frame elapses (which should vary between 16-17ms on average) are provided by a lot of frameworks. GetTimeElapsedSinceLastFrame, and it gives you the wall clock time. But should we use this information in basic physics simulation? It looks to me to be a bad idea. Say there is a slight lag on the machine, for whatever reason (say a virus scanner starts up). The calculations all jump, and there is no need for this. Why not use a virtual second and ignore wall clock time? For gameplay on the level of Commander Keen, shouldn't you always use the virtual second and not real-time? (Besides stopwatch timing for race games) I don't see a need to use real time and not a fixed 16ms time step.

  • Link to pages on site without .html extension appearing in browser?

    - by Anime163
I've modified my .htaccess file to allow access to html files without having to include the extension on the end, for example: www.mysite.com/document directs to www.mysite.com/document.html However, when I want to link to pages within my site using something like <a href="page.html"></a> I still get the .html appearing in the URL. So am I allowed to exclude the extension and leave a link as <a href="page"></a> so that the extension doesn't appear in the browser? Or is there a better way to do it?

  • How do I install drivers for a Konica Minolta 200?

    - by th3pr0ph3t
This copy machine / scanner / network printer works with Windows but no drivers are available for linux. When Ubuntu supports a printer it works fine but this one is not supported. I found the drivers in: http://onyxftp.mykonicaminolta.com/download/SearchResults.aspx?productname=bizhub%20200 //But I don't know how to install them, nor which one to download. //How can I install this driver? EDIT: The file with the driver is here http://onyxftp.mykonicaminolta.com/DownloadFile/Download.ashx?fileid=18571&productid=865 Inside the archive there is a .deb package that installs correctly but doesn't work. So far the question is: "How can I make it work?"

  • HTML Tidy for NetBeans IDE 7.4

    - by Geertjan
The NetBeans HTML5 editor is pretty amazing, working on an extensive screencast on that right now, to be published soon. One thing missing is HTML Tidy integration, until now: As you can see, in this particular file, HTML Tidy finds 6 times more problems (OK, some of them maybe false negatives) than the standard NetBeans HTML hint infrastructure does. You can also run the scanner across the whole project or all projects. Only HTML files will be scanned by HTML Tidy (via JTidy) and you can click on items in the window above to jump to the line. Future enhancements will include error annotations and hint integration, some of which has already been addressed in this blog over the years. Download it from here: http://plugins.netbeans.org/plugin/51066/?show=true Sources are here. Contributions more than welcome: https://java.net/projects/nb-api-samples/sources/api-samples/show/versions/7.4/misc/HTMLTidy

  • How to structure an application which reads UPC barcodes

    - by tugberk
I have no previous experience on creating a project for a seller which will use barcode reader. I am trying to put together a small project but I cannot figure out how the pieces should glue together. I will create a sample with Motorola Scanner SDK to read barcodes and from that point, I have couple of questions: How UPC barcodes work in general? AFAIK, a barcode stores the manufacturer and product info but no price data. Should I store price information inside a database which corresponds to barcode data? I would really appreciate if you can guide me here.

  • JavaScript: scroll position (Webkit engine) [migrated]

    - by Julien
I'm currently trying to use JavaScript to find out how far down the page the user has scrolled; for Firefox 8.0, the keyword is pageYOffset. To say things mechanically: The page has a certain height. In Firefox, the useful object is document.documentElement.scrollHeight. The browser's visible area also has a certain height. In Firefox, the object is window.innerHeight; in IE8, document.documentElement.clientHeight. I need to know where the user is in the page vertically; in other words, how many pixels down the page the user has scrolled. Does Webkit have a DOM object that refers to the current scroll position? Thank you.

  • Two Values Enter, One Value Leaves

    - by Bunch
    This is a fairly easy way to compare values for two different controls. In this example a user needs to enter in a street address and zip code OR pick a county. After that the application will display location(s) based on the value. The application only wants a specific street/zip combination or a county, not both. This code shows how to check for that on an ASP.Net page using some JavaScript. The control code: <table>     <tr>         <td>             <label style="color: Red;">Required Fields</label>         </td>         <td style="width: 300px;">             <label style="color: Red; font-weight: bold;" id="reqAlert" ></label>         </td>     </tr>     <tr>         <td>             <asp:Label ID="Label3" runat="server" Text="Street Address"></asp:Label>         </td>         <td style="width: 200px;">             <input id="Street" type="text" style="width: 200px;" />         </td>     </tr>      <tr>         <td>             <asp:Label ID="Label5" runat="server" Text="Zip Code"></asp:Label>             &nbsp;         </td>         <td style="width: 200px;">             <input id="Zip" type="text" style="width: 200px;"/>         </td>     </tr>     <tr>         <td>             <label style="color: Red; font-size: large;">-- OR --</label>         </td>     </tr>     <tr>         <td>             <asp:Label ID="Label2" runat="server" Text="County"></asp:Label>         </td>         <td style="width: 200px;">             <asp:DropDownList ID="ddlCounty" runat="server">                 <asp:ListItem Value="0" Text="" />                 <asp:ListItem Value="1" Text="County A" />                 <asp:ListItem Value="2" Text="County B" />                 <asp:ListItem Value="3" Text="County C" />                                </asp:DropDownList>         </td>     </tr> </table> <input id="btnMapSearch" type="button" value="Search" onclick="requiredVal()" class="actionButton" /> The onclick for the button runs the requiredVal javascript function. That is where the checks take place. If only one item (street/zip or county) has been entered the application will carry on with it’s locateAddr function; otherwise it will show an error message in the label reqAlert. The javascript: function requiredVal() {     var street = document.getElementById("Street").value;     var zip = document.getElementById("Zip").value;     var countyDdl = document.getElementById("ctl00_Content_ddlCounty");     var county = countyDdl.options[countyDdl.selectedIndex].text;     var reqAlert = document.getElementById("reqAlert");     reqAlert.innerHTML = '';   //clears out any previous messages     if (street != '' || zip != '') {         if (county != '') {             reqAlert.innerHTML = 'Please select only one required option';  //values for both were entered         }         else {             locateAddr();         }     }     else if (street == '' && zip == '' && county == '') {         reqAlert.innerHTML = 'Please select a required option';  //no values entered     }     else {         locateAddr();     } } Technorati Tags: ASP.Net,JavaScript

  • How to re-partition?

    - by EDi
I switched from Windows to Ubuntu 4 months ago and I am really happy with it. I set up a dual-boot system (since I wasn´t sure how it will end up with me and Ubuntu). After merging from Citavi to Zotero I need windows only for my scanner. The problem I have now is, that the windows partion is so big with lots of unused space and the ubuntu partition are quite small - I should have though about this problem 4 months ago... My partitions look like this: Where sda3 is the windows partition, sda5 is Ubuntu and sda7 is a data partition. I want to shrink sda3 and free some space for sda5 and sda3. How can this be done safely (and easily)?

  • VBA functionality in Word 2007 [closed]

    - by Mac
I have a VB system that utilises VBA and MSWord 20078. I have a few problems that I am hoping you solve for me. I need to search for a string in a Word 2007 document and then pickup all characters into a VB Variable from that string to the next carriage return inclusive. I will then manipulate the contents of the VB variable. When I find the search string I need to know what section of the document I am in. Once I have these two pieces of information I then need to continue to the next occurrence of the search string and repeat my functionality. Once I have dealt with the last occurrence of the search string I need to know that so that I can exit the process. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated

  • System.getProperty("user.dir") cannot get my project root path ,but the path which my eclipse is located

    - by facebook-100005613813158
As the title goes , I have class named GetException.java, inside it ,I read a xml file in a static code block like(Because this document is shared): static{ ... document = db.parse(new File(System.getProperty("user.dir")+"/src/exception/ExceptionCode.xml")); ... } To test if the file path is correct, I write a main function just inside GetException.java, it proves that the path is correct ,xml file can be read successfully. My project root dir is "/home/wuchang/workspace/MongodbI". But When this Class is loaded from other class, such as I called one of its static functions , it reports the error message: /home/mrs/??/eclipse/src/exception/ExceptionCode.xml (No such file or directory) /home/mrs/??/eclipse/ is actually my eclipse installation directory. So , I wander how System.getProperty("user.dir") returned the eclipse installation directory to me ,instead of my project root directory?

  • Why use binary files to stack up different versions on DMSs?

    - by edgarator
I've used both Liferay and Alfresco trying to use them as the Document Management System for an intranet. I noticed the following: They use the file system and the database to store files They use a GUID to name the file on the filesystem and that GUID is used as an Id in the database. The GUID-named file is a binary file The GUID-named binary file stores all versions for a given file The path for the file in the DMS doesn't match the one in the file system The URL makes reference to the GUID when a certain file is requested What I want to know is why is this, and what would be the best way of doing it. Like how to would you create the binary file (zip?), and what parts would you keep in the binary file and what parts would you store in the database (meta-data, path?). I'm assuming some of the benefits of doing it like this. As having the same URL for a file, regardless of its current document path. And having only one file even if the file has changed names over time.

  • Font substitution

    - by sjdh
What happens when you open a .docx document that is written in a font not available on your computer? How can you find the name of original font? I guess writer select automatically an other font. I tried to open a document written in Japanese. Writer shows the fond Droid Sans, and all the characters except number and Roman letters appear as squares. After changing to Droid Sans Japanese a few boxes are still left. I guess I have to install the original font on my computer, but I do not know the name of the font.

  • Why isn't the Spring AOP XML schema properly loaded when Tomcat loads & reads beans.xml

I'm trying to use Spring's Schema Based AOP Support in Eclipse and am getting errors when trying to load the configuration in Tomcat. There are no errors in Eclipse and auto-complete works correctly for the aop namespace, however when I try to load the project into eclipse I get this error: 09:17:59,515 WARN XmlBeanDefinitionReader:47 - Ignored XML validation warning org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: schema_reference.4: Failed to read schema document 'http://www.springframework.org/schema/aop/spring-aop-2.5.xsd', because 1) could not find the document; 2) the document could not be read; 3) the root element of the document is not . • postMessage to PDF in an iFrame

    - by Linus
Here's my situation. I had a webpage with an embedded PDF form. We used a basic object tag (embed in FF) to load the PDF file like this: <object id="pdfForm" height="100%" width="100%" type="application/pdf" data="..url"></object> On this webpage was an Html Save button that would trigger some Javascript which used the postMessage API of the embedded object to execute javascript embedded in the PDF. Basically, that code looked like this: function save() { sendMessage(["submitForm"]); } function sendMessage(aMessage) { pdfObject = document.getElementById("pdfForm"); if (typeof(pdfObject) == "undefined") return; if (typeof (pdfObject.postMessage) == "undefined") return; pdfObject.postMessage(aMessage); } This all was working beautifully. Except we ran into an issue with Firefox so that we need to embed the PDF using iFrame, instead of the object tag. So now, the PDF is embeded using this code: <iframe id="pdfWrapper" src="..someUrl" width="100%" height="800px" frameborder="0"></iframe> Unfortunately, with this code, the javascript for posting a message no longer works, and I can't really figure out how to get access to the pdf object anymore so that I can access the postMessage api. Using fiddler or the chome javascript debugger, it is clear that within the iframe, the browser is automatically generating an embed tag (not an object tag), but that does not let me access the postMessage API. This is the code I'm trying which doesn't work: function sendMessage(aMessage) { var frame = document.getElementById("pdfWrapper"); var doc = null; if (frame.contentDocument) doc = frame.contentDocument; else if (frame.contentWindow) doc = frame.contentWindow.document; else if (frame.document) doc = frame.document; if (doc==null || typeof(doc) == "undefined") return; var pdfObject = doc.embeds[0]; if (pdfObject==null || typeof (pdfObject.postMessage) == "undefined") return; pdfObject.postMessage(aMessage); } Any help on this? Sorry for the long question. EDIT: I've been asked to provide samples in code so that people can test whether the messaging works. Essentially, all you need is any PDF with this javascript embedded. function myOnMessage(aMessage) { app.alert("Hello World!"); } function myOnDisclose(cURL, cDocumentURL) { return true; } function myOnError(error, aMessage) { app.alert(error); } var msgHandlerObject = new Object(); msgHandlerObject.onMessage = myOnMessage; msgHandlerObject.onError = myOnError; msgHandlerObject.onDisclose = myOnDisclose; msgHandlerObject.myDoc = this; this.hostContainer.messageHandler = msgHandlerObject; I realize you need Acrobat pro to create PDFs with javascript, so to make this easier, I posted sample code--both working and non working scenarios--at this url: http://www.filedropper.com/pdfmessage You can download the zip and extract it to /inetpub/wwwroot if you use Windows, and then point your browser to either the works.htm or fails.htm. Thanks for any help you can give.
