  • Cross platform, gmail compatible email client for Emacs

    I spend alot of my time in Emacs, and move between Windows, Linux, and Mac OS at least once a day since these are the machines my company has available to use. I spend alot of time in gmail using gmail folders too, and would like to find a cross platform email client for emacs which can support gmail too. Note: I would like to find a client which is "stable", and has good support and documentation.

  • Is it possible to have non-replicated data on an LDAP consumer?

    I've read all the available documentation, the Mastering OpenLDAP book, and like a zillion mail-list posts but I haven't found a way to make such scenario possible. I see several use cases for this scenario like an enterprise application syncing all users from the main LDAP of the Org but keeping it's own application related schemas and objects in its server. So please, could you point me in the right direction or help me discard the possibility at all?

  • Uploading my ITunes music that I saved on a flash drive to ITunes on my new computer then downloading it to my Ipod Touch

    I had an old computer with Windows XP. I transferred all my music, at least I hoped I had to a flash drive. Also, my computer kept giving me error messages that it could no longer sync to my Ipod Touch First Generation. I reformatted my Ipod back to original factory specs on the old computer. I have a new computer with Windows 7. I can't transfer my music from my flash drive to the ITunes Library. I also can't transfer it to my Ipod. I keep getting the message "Songs cannot be added to the Ipod because all of its space has been reserved for data." There's nothing in the Ipod memory. It's clear. What can I do? I want my music back.

  • Limiting nproc in an upstart job

    What exactly does the stanza limit nproc 20 20 in an Upstart job do? I've read the documentation here (http://upstart.ubuntu.com/wiki/Stanzas#limit), and it seems like it would limit nproc for any process related to the job. However, I don't see this effect when I've added this to my job's conf file - in this specific case, I've confirmed that my test job's single process was able to fork more than 20 child processes. Any advice? Thanks.

    I've inherited a network that is truly a mess and the VPN config is amazingly long with confusing group names and very little documentation. I am curious to see how others have gone about auditing these types of connections. Are there any forms out there? What information should I collect?   • No scheduled tasks in Esxi 5?

    I'm using the free version of VMWare's ESXi 5.1.0. I'm logged in as root in the vSphere client, and I want to create some scheduled tasks. According to the documentation, I should go to "Home"="Management"="Scheduled tasks". However, when I go to "Home", I only have "Inventory" and "Administration". There is no "Management" section. Is this a limitation of the free version (I doubt it, but still), or am I missing the obvious here?

    Trying to iterate through AmazonS3 that has around 5000+ keys stored in the bucket, used sample code based on provided link on Amazon Developer Guide http://docs.amazonwebservices.com/AmazonS3/latest/dev/ListingObjectKeysUsingNetSDK.html Issue is iteration fails when NexMarker is passed which has length of more than 128 string characters, which seems unusal as withMarker accepts string as parameter and there is no documentation on limit to withMarker. request.Marker = response.NextMarker; Has anyone faced similar issue.   • how can I get rid of duplicate administrators on 2 macbook pro's

    I got a new MacBook Pro (insurance payout) and passed my old one (previous generation MacBookPro 2008) on to a staff member whose MacBook Pro died. I used carbon copy to move my data to the new laptop but couldn't do the same with her move as the older Macbook wouldn't allow it as it was on an old OS. Ended up just migrating her software onto my old MBP. Now however, they both have the same admin identities and her computer is synching with my mobile me account. Can I change the administrator identity and save all her applications? I am hoping that I don't have to wipe and reinstall everything to change her computers identity.

    Hello everybody, greetings from Mexico, sorry about my english but here it goes: I recently bought and apple tv 2nd generation it works just fine, i can see you tube videos but i cant see my library. My pc is conected to the same wi-fi than my apple tv. I have the latest software. I have my firewall off. I turned off and on my router. Search for iphone, ipad remotes on, sharing my library on my local network on, in itunes. Ive checked that my id was the same. On top of that the Remote app doesnt seem to work either. Please help, im kinda loosing my mind over this

  • Technical details for Server 2012 de-duplication feature

    Now that Windows Server 2012 comes with de-duplication features for NTFS volumes I am having a hard time finding technical details about it. I can deduce from the TechNet documentation that the de-duplication action itself is an asynchronous process - not unlike how the SIS Groveler used to work - but there is virtually no detail about the implementation (algorithms used, resources needed, even the info on performance considerations is nothing but a bunch rule-of-thumb-style recommendations). Insights and pointers are greatly appreciated, a comparison to Solaris' ZFS de-duplication efficiency for a set of scenarios would be wonderful.

  • Ultrabook graphics card for gaming

    I want to get a Windows 8 "ultrabook" that I can also use for gaming. Most seem to have Intel HD Graphics 4000 (integrated) or NVIDIA GeForce GT 620M (dedicated). From experience, are they any good? Things I enjoy playing are Call of Duty, Fifa and Skyrim for example. I'm looking for a device that will work on the next generation of those games as well, so it shouldn't just barely work on the current versions that exist now. So, would those two cards suffice? Any advice is much appreciated. Thank you.

    I need to proxy an SSL-authenticated connection to another server that requires an SSL authenticated connection. I realize that the incoming and outgoing connections of the proxy may have different certificates, but is it possible to call proxy_pass and tell it to use a certificate/private key for connection to the proxied system? Based on the documentation, it doesn't seem possible. Maybe with another module?

    Emacs documentation states that you can use query-replace on filesets to perform find/replace on multiple files. This lets you perform certain operations, such as visiting, query-replace, and shell commands on all the files at once. I've opened my particular fileset (i.e. via fileset-open) and attempted query/replace using both: M-% and M-x query-replace but can't get it to work on anything but the file (buffer) I'm currently in.

Imagine I use rewrite rules to set environmental variable RewriteRule ... ... [E=something:1] What is the scope of "something" - global Apache server (this means "something" will be available for other request transactions), this request (means that "something" is only valid for THIS http request (and its related processing - but what's about internal redirects and other internal stuff - are they considered as THIS request, or another one?), and may be set differently within another (concurrent) request?

  • Does chunk size affect the read performance of a Linux md software RAID1 array?

    This came up in relation to this question on determining chunk size of an existing RAID array. The general consensus seems to be that chunk size does not apply to RAID1 as it is not striped. On the other hand, the Linux RAID Wiki claims that it will have an affect on read performance. However, I cannot find any benchmarks testing/proving that. Can anyone point to conclusive documentation that it either does or does not affect read performance?

This includes our Sharepoint databases, while looking into moving the databases I found the Microsoft documentation for moving Sharepoint 2007, however have not been able to find anything similar for Sharepoint 2003.     I've created a configuration profile but I cannot sign it using the utility v3.3. I registered an email certificate but the utility does not pick it up. Unfortunately, I've found the documentation for this tool lacking and I cannot find out how to do this properly.     The question pretty much says it all. I use an old 845GBV board ( to-date reliant upon the integrated graphics processor ). All slots on the board are unused. Lately I've been thinking in terms changing it to a dual monitor so that I can use one console for documentation/help/sample code/whatever, the other one to play with code. Assuming this board can handle a PCI GPU, can an AGP4x board coexist with a PCI GPU?

  • Can I rent exclusive time on a powerful server running linux? [closed]

    My company is involved in a proposal that requires speed estimates of our software on a server with the latest & greatest processors. This is not the first time we've been in this situation. The servers themselves are too expensive to buy a new one every time, so we end up extrapolating from what we have. There are so many variables: processor generation & speed, memory speed, memory channels, cache configurations; it makes extrapolation difficult and error-prone. Is there a business that rents time on the newest servers? At least part of the time we'd need exclusive access to an otherwise quiescent system either via ssh shell access or unattended batch jobs. I am not looking for general cloud computing services. I don't need much time on the server, but it needs to be exclusive. And the server needs to be pretty cutting edge for a solid basis of estimate.
