I recently put up a site and I have been doing some SEO.
However I noticed that links from Google search append index.php to my links.
For example a site page which clearly appears as www.example.com/index/why on search together with correct content sample when clicked on ends up in the new browser as www.example.com/index.php/why
Note that on my site all links are redirected to SSL and I use the MVC stucture.
Any directives that am may be missing?
Hello!
I am wondering how does SVG work in IE with Google Docs Drawings?
Is it flash?
Could you please point me to the library they use to add SVG support to IE?
Thanks!
According to this: http://code.google.com/appengine/docs/whatisgoogleappengine.html
it seems that GAE only uses Datastore to store data, which is equivalent with Table service on Windows Azure Platform.
Does anyone know that which RDBMS it uses? or such thing exists or not?
I get an "The remote name could not be resolved: 'mine.com'"
When using this open ID identifier:
https://www.google.com/accounts/o8/site-xrds?hd=mine.com
And it's true, that the mine.com DNS record doesn't exist. But I'm wondering why it goes to look there in the first place. All I want to be doing is to check if the user can login to our hosted domain. Is that really so hard?
Is there a way I can have a google maps control on a web page that will allow users to select destinations as a search criteria?
For example we would like a user to be able to select a country, city, state by clicking on it in a map?
Is that even doable?
We have #1 and #2 spots we would like to keep, but because of the way things were jumbled we have to migrate to a new domain.
We do not want the new domain to be penalized for duplicate content, we want it to naturally take the spot on Google.
?????????????
hey there,
in my google analytics account there is a page tracked usually opened as a javascript window.open() pop-up (same domain as referring page).
unfortunately, g.a. categorizes the pop-up page as entrance, although it is just a step in the whole navigation flow.
how can i avoid this?
thanks for your help!
I'm trying to make an app that links to Google streetview using latitude/longitude coordinates, and shows a streetview of the nearest road. This is coming from a fairly small and well covered area, so there isn't going to be any coordinates in the middle of the ocean.
Is there a published API showing the get parameters you need to link directly to streetview?

To learn from good examples, what are the best open source Google App Engine applications out there?
I don't care if it is Java or Python based.
Please one app per answer. Feel free to add a link to the live app (if there is) and to the project page.

Hi,
I made a small product using Google APIs.
Now i need to sell it to my client.
I made installer and simply added all APIs.
But now it is showing error of type COM.
How can i resolve this issue?
Google webfonts look horrible on windows.
What is going on? Is this a temporary problem that will be fixed, or is this just a windows problem that will forever persist? If the latter, doesn't that mean the entire project is sort of useless?
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I am developing an iPhone application that uploads videos to TwitVid using the library TwitVid-iPhone-OAuth3. I have selected this library since Twitter is shifting to OAuth mechanism of authentication.
1) Does this new library allows to upload without user-name and password parameters?
2) I am using the following steps for uploading videos (assumed that new library allows to upload without user-name and password parameters).
But, I am getting the error 'Incorrect Signature'. I am not able to identify the mistake that I am doing here. Could you please help me out to solve this problem.
Authenticate the app using OAuth (MGTwitterEngine etc) which redirects the user to the web-page asking for log-in and app authentication.
If the user authenticates the app, access token will obtained as final step.
Upload the video to TwitVid using the following code snippet:
OAuth *authorizer = [[OAuth alloc] initWithConsumerKey: @"my_consumer_key" andConsumerSecret: @"my_consumer_secret"];
authorizer.oauth_token = //The key-part of the access token obtained in step 2
authorizer.oauth_token_secret = //The secret-part of the access token obtained in step 2
authorizer.oauth_token_authorized = YES; //Since authenticated in steps 1 and 2
NSString *authHeader = [authorizer oAuthHeaderForMethod: @"POST" andUrl: @"https://api.twitter.com/1/account/verify_credentials.xml" andParams: nil];
twitVid = [[TwitVid alloc] init];
[mTwitVid setDelegate: self];
[mTwitVid authenticateWithXVerifyCredentialsAuthorization: authHeader xAuthServiceProvider: nil];
Thanks and Regards,
Deepa
I'm attempting to mine twitter data in R, and am having trouble getting started. I created a twitter account, an app in twitter developers, changed the settings to read, write, and access, created my access token, and followed instructions to the letter in registering it:
My code:
> library(twitteR)
> download.file(url="http://curl.haxx.se/ca/cacert.pem",
+ destfile="cacert.pem")
> requestURL <- "https://api.twitter.com/oauth/request_token"
> accessURL <- "https://api.twitter.com/oauth/access_token"
> authURL <- "https://api.twitter.com/oauth/authorize"
> consumerKey <-"my key" #took this part out for privacy's sake
> consumerSecret <- "my secret" #this too
> twitCred <- OAuthFactory$new(consumerKey=consumerKey, consumerSecret = consumerSecret, requestURL = requestURL, accessURL = accessURL, authURL = authURL)
> twitCred$handshake(cainfo="cacert.pem")
To enable the connection, please direct your web browser to:
https://api.twitter.com/oauth/authorize?oauth_token=zxgHXJkYAB3wQ2IVAeyJjeyid7WK6EGPfouGmlx1c
When complete, record the PIN given to you and provide it here: 0010819
> registerTwitterOAuth(twitCred)
[1] TRUE
> save(list="twitCred", file="twitteR_credentials")
And yet, this:
> s <- searchTwitter('#United', cainfo="cacert.pem")
[1] "Unauthorized"
Error in twInterfaceObj$doAPICall(cmd, params, "GET", ...) :
Error: Unauthorized
I'm about to have a temper tantrum. I'd be extremely grateful if someone could explain to me what is going wrong, or, better yet, how to fix it.
Thank you.
Hello,
does anyone know how to disable the creation of birthday events in Outlook 2010? Here is my setup and what causes the problem:
I have 2 computers and one mobile which all sync through a googlemail account. But after also synching the contacts, each Outlook instance creates a birthday event for that contact. So I end up with 2 Birthday reminders. Is it possible to tell one of the PCs to not enter birthdays into the calendar?
Greetings Niklas
I have a local .swf file in a local .html file. The flash file opens a popup window when a link is clicked. In Chrome, when I open the html file and click the button, nothing happens. Then when I go to about:plugins and disable the top Flash player (the pepper one) then try refresh and try clicking the button again, nothing happens. Then when I go to http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager04.html and add the the folder the files are stored in to the list and refresh the page and click the button again, it opens the popup.
When I re-enable the pepper flash player, and re-add the folder to the allowed list in flash (it's gone from the list now that I changed players), refresh the page and click the button again, it does nothing. I don't know why it won't open with the pepper player.
I'm using Windows 7, Chrome 22.0.1229.94 m, Pepper Flash player 11.4.31.110, and regular Flash Player 11,4,402,287.
I have the following devices:
Personal Laptop running Windows 7/Ubuntu 11.10 (mostly use Ubuntu)
Media Server running Windows 7 with PS3 Media Server and iTunes
Work Laptop running OSX Snow Leopard
iPad
iPhone 4S
The iPhone just replaced my Droid 2 Global. What I had been doing was using Google Music to watch the folders iTunes was storing music in and moving any new files up to Google Music. The Droid would pull music down from the cloud via streaming or me telling it to make it available offline, I had folders set up with PS3 Media Server to stream them to TV's via DLNA, and used RDP to play music through my speakers in the office. So far it's worked well.
Since I've replaced the Droid 2 though with an iPhone, I've lost the syncing ability with Google Music and have to do it via iTunes (I knew this would happen, no big suprise). I got to thinking though - Apple does offer iTunes Match, which allows your devices to stream/download the music from 'the cloud,' much like Google Music. I could then listen to whatever I Wanted (for the most part) on my phone, iPad, and laptops by syncing via iTunes Match.
I don't want to loose my MP3s though, and since I've never used iTunes Match, I wonder if the following is a viable solution:
Sign up for iTunes Match on my media server
Let it scan my library and make available my songs in AAC in the cloud
Not delete the media server MP3s
Set up other devices to sync to iTunes Match
Continue to get MP3s via Amazon or other services and add to iTunes
Let the MP3s sync to Google Music, and let the MP3's add to the AAC versions on my devices
I think the main kicker is I don't want to lose the MP3 versions of my songs as those will work just fine on all my devices and I generally rip at 320kbps. I don't mind spending $25/year if it means that I can easily shift the music from device to device without much thinking, but I'm not going to pay $25/year to end up converting my library over to AAC just to save myself the hassle of manually syncing my iPad and iPhone.
One of my favorite features of the Firefox awesome bar is that I can simply type a substring of any URL or page title in my history and it finds all matches sorted by how frequently they were accessed. Example: I simply type "ask" when I want to ask something on stackoverflow.com., "inbox" goes to my GMail Inbox and so on because the substring matches any part of the URL or the page title. Chrome's Omnibar is quite frustrating in this area. I am not able to predict what it's gonna fetch and I seem to have no way to train the thing to do my bidding. I have turned unchecked the option that says: "Use a suggestion service to help complete searches and URLs typed..." but there has been no noticeable improvement.
Any clues how I can make the Omnibar behave?
Using Chrome 15 on Windows (all tho' I've learned it doesn't matter what browser you use), when using a Google product it automatically either translates or redirects to my native language. If I go google.com, I excpect to get the English version of it - that does not happen, instead I have to click on the bottom of the page on the link "Go to Google MyLanguage" and it still does the same thing after closing and opening the browser.
Hence my question, how to disable (get rid of, for good) Google's language detection? Maybe there's a work-around?
I've recently switched from Firefox to Chrome, and the thing I miss most from Firefox is the "Awesome Bar" that suggests completions for what I type primarily based on page titles, and then secondarily based on domain names.
Chrome offers both matching URLs and titles, just like like Firefox, but Chrome seems to always prefer a matching domain name over a matching page title or a match to another part of the URL (besides the domain), no matter how many times I pass over the former for the latter.
In fact, Chrome also prefers to suggest a search rather than matching anything other than a domain name.
So is there any hidden preference I can change to tell Chrome that I care more about page titles than domain names?
Example: I want to go to Google Reader, so I press Control+L and begin typing "reader". The URL for google reader is http://www.google.com/reader/view/#overview-page, so the domain name is www.google.com, which does not contain the word "reader". So the first option that Chrome suggests is either another site that has "reader" as part of the domain, or a search for "reader" with the default search engine. No matter how many times I scroll down and select Google Reader, Chrome never "learns" that that's what I want.
I've followed googles recommendations and steps for syncing my ipod touch, newest OS, with my google calendar. Sync works great when google calendar events are added or deleted on the marked for syncing calendar. They show up on my ipod. But when I make changes on the native Ipod touch calendar they are not reflected in the google calendar marked for syncing. What gives? I also have been unable to do an initial sync that would move my Ipod calendar events to my google calendar. Any suggestions?
