  • How to import RoR project to Netbeans

    - by user369759
I have very simple (in fact empty ) project which i have created by rails new MyProject command from command-line. So, i want to import it to NetBeans IDE. I click "new project" - "RoR" - "from existing source", select Ruby 1.9.2 (instead of embedded JRuby) in the wizard form. After that i have got errors [see the picture below]: So.. i click OK. And then try to run the RoR application from NetBeans clicking on the run-button and i got the following error in the log-panel: /home/ses/.rvm/rubies/ruby-1.9.2-p136/bin/ruby: No such file or directory -- script/server (LoadError) So how to handle these two problems? and, replying the comment to my question. yes, i performed following commands: bundle install Using rake (0.8.7) Using abstract (1.0.0) Using activesupport (3.0.3) Using builder (2.1.2) Using i18n (0.5.0) Using activemodel (3.0.3) Using erubis (2.6.6) Using rack (1.2.1) Using rack-mount (0.6.13) Using rack-test (0.5.7) Using tzinfo (0.3.24) Using actionpack (3.0.3) Using mime-types (1.16) Using polyglot (0.3.1) Using treetop (1.4.9) Using mail (2.2.15) Using actionmailer (3.0.3) Using arel (2.0.7) Using activerecord (3.0.3) Using activeresource (3.0.3) Using bundler (1.0.10) Using mysql2 (0.2.6) Using thor (0.14.6) Using railties (3.0.3) Using rails (3.0.3) p.s. my application is working when i launch it from the console. i use ruby-1.9.2 and RoR 3.0 and Netbeans 6.9.1 and Ubuntu 10.10 bundle pack Using rake (0.8.7) Using abstract (1.0.0) Using activesupport (3.0.3) Using builder (2.1.2) Using i18n (0.5.0) Using activemodel (3.0.3) Using erubis (2.6.6) Using rack (1.2.1) Using rack-mount (0.6.13) Using rack-test (0.5.7) Using tzinfo (0.3.24) Using actionpack (3.0.3) Using mime-types (1.16) Using polyglot (0.3.1) Using treetop (1.4.9) Using mail (2.2.15) Using actionmailer (3.0.3) Using arel (2.0.7) Using activerecord (3.0.3) Using activeresource (3.0.3) Using bundler (1.0.10) Using mysql2 (0.2.6) Using thor (0.14.6) Using railties (3.0.3) Using rails (3.0.3) Updating .gem files in vendor/cache Your bundle is complete! • AD-DirectoryServices: .NET2.0 - Speaking architecture, approach and best practices... Suggestions?

    - by Will Marcouiller
I've been mandated to write an application to migrate the Active Directory access models to another environment. Here's the context: I'm stuck with VB.NET 2005 and .NET Framework 2.0; The application must use the Windows authenticated user to manage AD; The objects I have to handle are Groups, Users and OrganizationalUnits; I intend to use the Façade design pattern to provider ease of use and a fully reusable code; I plan to write a factory for each of the objects managed (group, ou, user); The use of Attributes should be useful here, I guess; As everything is about the DirectoryEntry class when accessing the AD, it seems a good candidate for generic types. Obligatory features: User creates new OUs manually; User creates new group manually; User creates new user (these users are services accounts) manually; Application reads an XML file which contains the OUs, groups and users to create; Application informs the user about the OUs, groups and users that shall be created; User specifies the domain environment where to migrate the XML input file designated objects; User makes changes if needed, and launches the task operations; Application performs required by the XML input file operations against the underlying AD as specified by the user; Application informs the user upon completion. Linear features: User fetches OUs, groups, users; User changes OUs, groups, users; User deletes OUs, groups, users; The application logs AD entries and operations performed, plus errors and exceptions; Nice-to-have features: Application rollbacks operations on error or exception. I've been working for weeks now to get acquainted with the AD and the System.DirectoryServices assembly. But I don't seem to find a way to be fully satisfied with what I'm doing and always looking for better. I have studied Bret de Smet's Linq to AD on CodePlex, but then again, I can't use it as I'm stuck with .NET 2.0, so no Linq! But I've learned about Attributes, and seen that he's working with generic types as he codes a DirectorySource class to perform the operations for OUs, groups and users. I have been able to add groups to the AD; I have been able to add users to the AD; The created user is automatically disabled? I seem to get confused with the use of a LDAP path to add objects. For instance, one needs two instances of a System.DirectoryServices.DirectoryEntry class to add a group, for instance. Why this? Any suggestions? Thanks for any help, code sample, ideas, architural solution, everything!

  • How to build a gmail chat-bot?

    - by Jack
I have read similar questions but they talk of AI models. What I want to do is build a simple bot which accepts predefined commands and performs required action. No learning needed. I have the whole flowchart prepared. What I need is to get the commands that a user types in his/her chat.

  • Can you point me to current examples using NHibernate in an ASP.NET MVC2 app?

    - by alphadogg
Can anyone point me to any self-contained, complete, current reference materials/projects using NHibernate in an ASP.NET MVC2 application? I have looked at Sharp Architecture, but I am not sure I need the complexity in that project. I certainly don't know enough about it to know if it is over-engineered for my purposes. I would like to see more types of implementations to gauge the various ways people have skinned this cat.

  • Another C datatypes question

    - by b-gen-jack-o-neill
Hello. Well, I completely get the most basic datatypes of C, like short, int, long, float, to be exact, all numerical types. These types are needed to be known perform right operations with right numbers. For example to use FPU to add two float numbers. So the compiler must know what the type is. But, when it comes to characters I am little bit off. I know that basic C datatype char is there for ASCII characters coding. But what I don´t know is, why you even need another datatype for characters. Why could not you just use 1 byte integer value to store ASCII character. If you call printf, you apecify the datatype in the call, so you could say to printf that the integer represents ASCII character. I dont know how cout resolves datatype, but I guess you could just specify it somehow. Another thing is, when you want to use Unicode, you must use datatype wchar. But, what if I would like to use some another, for example ISO, or Windows coding instead of UTF? Becouse wchar codes characters as UTF-16 or UTF-32 (I read its compiler specific). And, what if I would want to use for example some imaginary new 8 byte text coding? What datatype should I use for it? I am actually pretty confused of this, becouse I always expected that if I want to use UTF-32 instead of ASCII, I just tell compiler "get UTF-32 value of the character I typed and save it into 4 char field." I thought that text coding is to be dealt with by the end, print function for example. That I just need to specify the coding for the compiler to use, since Windows doesent use ASCII in win32 apps, I guess C compiler must convert the char I typed to ASCII from whatever the type is that windows sends to the C editor. And the last thing is, what if I want to use for example 25 Byte integer for some high math operations? C has no specify-yourself datatype. Yes, I know that this would be difficult since all the math operations would need to be changed, becouse CPU can not add 25 Bytes numbers together. But is there a way to do it? Or is there some math library for it? What if I want to compute Pi to 1000000000000000 digits? :) I know my question is pretty long, but I just wanted to explain my thoughts the best I can in English, since its not my native language it is difficult. And I believe there is simple answer to my question(s), something I missed that explains everything. I read lot about text coding, C tutorials, but nothing about his. Thank you for your time.

  • Mysql Text Storage?

    - by mii
I was wondering if you where to have an article or articles with huge amounts of text, what would be better when creating the database structure for the articles text? And why? What will be the advantages or disadvantages if any?. I was thinking of using one of the data types below to hold the articles text for the MySQL database. VARCHAR TEXT MEDIUMTEXT LONGTEXT

  • Tutorials and Introductions to C++ Expression Templates

    - by grrussel
What are good introductions to the creation of C++ expression template systems? I would like to express arithmetic on user defined types while avoiding temporary values (which may be large), and to learn how to do this directly rather than applying an existing library. I have found Todd Veldhuizen's original paper and an example from the Josuttis C++ Templates book, and an article by Kreft & Langer. I am looking for simple, clear expositions.

  • Interface in a dynamic language?

    - by Bryan
Interface (or an abstract class with all the methods abstract) is a powerful weapon in a static language. It allows different derived types to be used in a uniformed way. However, in a dynamic language, all objects can be used in a uniformed way as long as they define certain methods. Does interface exist in dynamic languages? It seems unnecessary to me.

  • Do you gain any operations when you constrain a generic type using where T : struct?

    - by Fiona Holder
This may be a bit of an abstract question, so apologies in advance. I am looking into generics in .NET, and was wondering about the where T : struct constraint. I understand that this allows you to restrict the type used to be a value type. My question is, without any type constraint, you can do a limited number of operations on T. Do you gain the ability to use any additional operations when you specify where T : struct, or is the only value in restricting the types you can pass in?

  • C precision of double: compiler dependent?

    - by yCalleecharan
Hi,on my 32-bit machine (with an Intel T7700 duo core), I have 15 precision digits for both double and long double types for the C language. I compared the parameters LDBL_DIG for long doubles and DBL_DIG for doubles and they are both 15. I got these answers using MVS2008. I was wondering if these results can be compiler dependent or do they just depend on my processor? Thanks a lot...

  • Const unsigned char* to char8

    - by BSchlinker
So, I have two types at the moment: const unsigned char* unencrypted_data_char; string unencrypted_data; I'm attempting to perform a simple conversion of data from one to the other (string - const unsigned char*) As a result, I have the following: strcpy((unencrypted_data_char),(unencrypted_data.c_str())); However, I'm receiving the error: error C2664: 'strcpy' : cannot convert parameter 1 from 'const unsigned char *' to 'char *' Any advise? I thought using reinterpret_cast would help, but it doesn't seem to make a difference.

  • How to avoid overflow in expr. A * B - C * D

    - by Ir0nm
I need to compute an expression which looks like: A*B - C*D, where their types are: signed long long int A, B, C, D; Each number can be really big (not overflowing its type). While A*B could cause overflow, at same time expression A*B - C*D can be really small. How can I compute it correctly? For example: MAX * MAX - (MAX - 1) * (MAX + 1) == 1, where MAX = LLONG_MAX - n and n - some natural number.

  • Is there any reason for an object pool to not be treated as a singleton?

    - by Chris Charabaruk
I don't necessarily mean implemented using the singleton pattern, but rather, only having and using one instance of a pool. I don't like the idea of having just one pool (or one per pooled type). However, I can't really come up with any concrete situations where there's an advantage to multiple pools for mutable types, at least not any where a single pool can function just as well. What advantages are there to having multiple pools over a singleton pool?
