• Acer 7551g - hibernation and suspending don't work

  Issue is quite the same like here, I've tried everything I found and nothing happens. If I use uswsusp, suspending works good, but graphics doesn't wake up, when I want to hibernate system, it tells me "Looking for splash system... none s2disk:snapshotting system" and nothing happens. I'm using ATI drivers, i've tried to disable kms, unload usb3 and network drivers, still nothing. Please help me, I don't want to come back to Windows after my 2-year-relationship with Linux. I can share all files I have with you, just help me.

• Congratulations to Gavin Payne–Microsoft Certified Architect

  Huge congratulations to Gavin who became the 6th person in the WORLD outside Microsoft to qualify as a Microsoft Certified Architect in SQL Server today. Gavin’s worked so hard for this since the start of the year and all that work culminated in a grilling 4 hour review board during the PASS summit in Seattle less than 2 weeks ago -- he received his official results last night. To put things into perspective, there are only 25 people on the planet that are qualified to this level in SQL Server; only 6 of those don’t work for Microsoft; and 2 of those work for Coeo. Coeo is the only partner in the UK to have an MCA in SQL Server, and now we have 2!   Hot on the heels of the release of ASP.NET MVC 2 yesterday, Im happy to announce that we are releasing the source code to ASP.NET MVC 2 under the Ms-PL license, an OSI approved Open Source license. This continues the trend from nearly a year ago when we released ASP.NET MVC 1.0 under the Ms-PL. You can read my blog post there to learn more about the hard work that goes into such releases. • PASS Conference 2011 Topic: Multitenant Design and Sharding with SQL Azure

  I am really happy to announce that I have been accepted as a speaker at the 2011 PASS Conference in Seattle. The topic? It will be about SQL Azure scalability using shards, and the Data Federation feature of SQL Azure. I will also talk extensively about the community open-source sharding library Enzo SQL Shard (enzosqlshard.codeplex.com) and show how to make the most out of it. In general, the presentation will provide details about how to properly design an application for sharding, how to make it work for SQL Server, SQL Azure, and how to leverage the upcoming Data Federation technology that Microsoft is planning. The primary objective is to turn sharding an implementation concern, not a development concern. Using a library like Enzo SQL Shard will help you achieve this objective. • Autocad on linux ubuntu 11.10!

  I am trying 3 years now installing autocad,3ds max and revit architecture on ubuntu with the help of wine!Every year i am very optimistic cause i see the new wine versions already improved.So, now i am starting again in a clean ubuntu install to install the autocad 2013 with the wine version wine1.4.I am not trying to have an answer only for me but i want all this ubuntu community try for this and finally we can achieve that!The winetricks have already net framework 4 to install which is the reason i have not already ran in the pas autocad.So, i would like to remove completely my windows 7 partition from my pc and go on a linux machine without loosing the powerfull architectural programms.I know all about blender and staff so i just want you to help find a solution on that because i know there is a solution!Maybe i will have to learn all the c++ or python etc staff.But i am sure that a solution can come with the help of all of us!Any suggestion about this problem will be very nice and helpfull. • Partition Wise Joins II

  One of the things that I did not talk about in the initial partition wise join post was the effect it has on resource allocation on the database server. When Oracle applies a different join method - e.g. not PWJ - what you will see in SQL Monitor (in Enterprise Manager) or in an Explain Plan is a set of producers and a set of consumers. The producers scan the tables in the the join. If there are two tables the producers first scan one table, then the other. The producers thus provide data to the consumers, and when the consumers have the data from both scans they do the join and give the data to the query coordinator. Now that behavior means that if you choose a degree of parallelism of 4 to run such query with, Oracle will allocate 8 parallel processes. Of these 8 processes 4 are producers and 4 are consumers. The consumers only actually do work once the producers are fully done with scanning both sides of the join. In the plan above you can see that the producers access table SALES [line 11] and then do a PX SEND [line 9]. That is the producer set of processes working. The consumers receive that data [line 8] and twiddle their thumbs while the producers go on and scan CUSTOMERS. The producers send that data to the consumer indicated by PX SEND [line 5]. After receiving that data [line 4] the consumers do the actual join [line 3] and give the data to the QC [line 2]. BTW, the myth that you see twice the number of processes due to the setting PARALLEL_THREADS_PER_CPU=2 is obviously not true. The above is why you will see 2 times the processes of the DOP. In a PWJ plan the consumers are not present. Instead of producing rows and giving those to different processes, a PWJ only uses a single set of processes. Each process reads its piece of the join across the two tables and performs the join. The plan here is notably different from the initial plan. First of all the hash join is done right on top of both table scans [line 8]. This query is a little more complex than the previous so there is a bit of noise above that bit of info, but for this post, lets ignore that (sort stuff). The important piece here is that the PWJ plan typically will be faster and from a PX process number / resources typically cheaper. You may want to look out for those plans and try to get those to appear a lot... • RT3290 Bluetooth not pairing in Ubuntu 14.04

  I recently followed the instructions listed in the following link to get my RT3290 bluetooth working on my laptop. These instructions have yielded the most progress I have had in the year I have had this laptop. My machine now sees my bluetooth, I can scan for and see devices, and other devices and see my laptop, but pairing continually fails. Currently working in SAP seems price less as people are dieing for it but at the same time I have really strong academics and many people are forcing me to apply for masters abroad for which I have to leave this job.This decision seems to be really tough. This decision of moving to SAP sometimes makes me happy as it is valuable and on the other hand my technical skills are completey dieing. I am fairly proficient with Python, can write C++ and I am a final year student of computer science engineering I am looking to learn Haskell because I have heard a lot about it. My question is: apart from learning it because of all the good I have heard about it, is it any good for my career? Is it used in the industry? • What are reasons for Unity3D's owners to force rich guys buying Pro version?

  Well, I have to say that Unity is a really nice thing that can save one a dozen of hours on coding (letting instantly work on gameplay). But what's the idea of forcing (EULA) any party, which made over 100k last fiscal year, to purchase Pro instead of using normal edition!? It feels that this kind of licensing provides hidden benefits to rich guys over me, poor sloven, who can afford buying $3.5k license but obviously will not receive any additional cookies from it. And, by the way, anyone estimated how much Unity's source + Playstation + Xbox license will cost?
