• Browser back button creating problem

  I have a dynamically generated gridview on page with sorting provided in the code behind also. Now i move from page A to page B using a link, this also works fine. But when i press the browser back button and come back to my page A and again try to sort... page A throws an exception... is there a way to program this back button like we program a button normally.. • What happens to an ActiveX control (COleControl) after the call to OnDestroy() ?

  I have an ActiveX control written in C++ that runs in Internet Explorer 8. Most of the time (approx 90%) when the tab or browser containing the control is closed, there is an access violation like this: The thread 'Win32 Thread' (0x1bf0) has exited with code 0 (0x0). Unhandled exception at 0x77b3b9fd in iexplore.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x65007408. The access violation occurs after the call to OnDestroy() but before the call to the control's destructor. The debug output says: No symbols are loaded for any call stack frame. The source code cannot be displayed. None of my code is present in the stacktrace, although perhaps the heap was corrupted at some earlier point during execution. What lifecycle events does an ActiveX control receive between the call to OnDestroy() and the control's destructor?

• Accorian menu is not working properly

  Hi, I am using accordin menu in my site, placed in Master Page, It has 4 pane, each pane have multiple links. it was working fine previously. But suddenly it is displaying this error message There is no source code available for the current location. It's is asking for show assembly. When I clicked on that I got a stopage at the stack 0000001a mov eax,dword ptr [ebp-0Ch] -- I am really not sure what does it means. Also, there are several links in accordin menu, after clicking on anyone of the link I am not able to click the other link, might be because of the above reason. Please help

• Question about "Link Map" output and "Assume" directive of MASM assembler.

  I am new to MASM. So the questions may be quite basic. When I am using the MASM assembler, there's an output file called "Link Map". Its content is composed of the starting offset and length of various segments, such as Data segment, Code segment and Stack segment. I am wondering that, where are these information describing? Are they talking about how various segments are located within an EXE file or, how segments are located within memory after the EXE file being loaded into memory by a program loader? BTW: What does the "Assume" directive do? My understanding is that it tell the assembler to emit some information into the exe file header so the program loader could use it to set DS, CS, SS, ES register accordingly. Am I right on this? • How can something like BOSH be implemented using Java Servlets

  BOSH (Bidirectional-streams Over Synchronous HTTP) is a sneaky way of implementing 2-way client-server communication in situations where true server-push is not allowed, most obviously to let a server push data to a browser client without having to use client polling. It works by the client sending a request to the server, and the server doesn't respond immediately... rather it remembers the request but only responds when it has some data to send. When this happens the client immediately sends another request so there is virtually always a 'stored request' sitting on the server ready to push data to the client. At least, that's how I think it works! My question is how you can do this using a Java EE stack i.e standard servlets. I'm rusty with them, is it allowed to send no response and cache the request somehow? If anyone could share (pseudo) code what a servlet class for handling BOSH might look like, I'd be real grateful.

• How best to implement "favourites" feature? (like favourite products on a data driven website)

  Hi, I have written a dynamic database driven, object oriented website with an administration frontend etc etc. I would like to add a feature where customers can save items as "favourites", without having to create an account and login, to come back to them later, but I dont know how exactly to go about doing this... I see three options: Log favourites based on IP address and then change these to be logged against an account if the customer then creates an account; Force customers to create an account to be able to use this functionality; Log favourites based on IP address but give users the option to save their favourites under a name they specify. The problem with option 1 is that I dont know much about IP addresses - my Dad thinks they are unique, but I know people have had problems with systems like this. The problem with 1 and 2 is that accounts have not been opened up to customers yet - only administrators can log in at the moment. It should be easy to alter this (no more than a morning or afternoons work) but I would also have to implement usergroups too. The problem with option 3 is that if user A saves a favourites list called "My Favourites", and then user B tries to save a list under this name and it is refused, user B will then be able to access the list saved by user A because they now know it already exists. A solution to this is to password protect lists, but to go to all this effort I may as well implement option 2. Of course I could always use option 4; use an alternative if anyone can suggest a better solution than any of the above options. So has anyone ever done something like this before? If so how did you go about it? What do you recommend (or not recommend)? Many thanks in advance, Regards, Richard

  I have two objects that have a ManyToMany relationship with one another through a mapping table. Though, when I try to save it, I get a stack overflow exception.   Hi all!I'll give an example of what I intend to do: I have 2 StackPanels one containing an Ellipse the other one containing nothing; I want to drag the Ellipse from one stack panel to the other . The actual drag & drop is already done and works fine. However I'd like to know how to keep that that Ellipse shape at the tip of my mouse cursor (I've been searching all day and couldn't find anything that helps ) Even an windows forms example would be nice , I'll be able to adapt it :). • Weird Scrolling Issue Using UITableView

  I am a working UINavigationController pushing two different UITableViews on and off the stack. All of my functionality is working correctly except scrolling. When either table is scrolled above the top row, or below the bottom row, it stays there exposing the margin above/below the table. I am looking for the table to "bounce" back so that only the table is visible and not the white space area beyond - just like any other iPhone app. One of my UITableViews is being loaded by NIB and the other is being created programatically - both of which have the exact same result. I have tried all the bounce and scrolling settings in the Nib, but nothing seems to work. Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong? Please let me know if I can be more specific in detailing my problem. Thanks, -Scott

  This may be a stupid question, but I have to ask! I have the following code snippets that are supposed to run their corresponding methods when the user interacts with objects. • Why is IE7 hiding my overflow when, as far as I can tell, all it's containing elements have overflow

  If you visit the site in question (haddongrant.com) and go to the Artwork section, if you click on an image and view it's stack in Safari, Chrome or Firefox you'll notice the images extend up and down the page, eventually disappearing over the edge. This is what you should be seeing. In Internet Explorer 7, however, the overflow gets cut off at some point before it ever gets to the end of the page. The problem is... I can't tell where! I've had a look and every containing element should show overflow. I don't know why IE7 isn't. Does anyone have any ideas where I might need to add an overflow-y:visible;?

• SQL Alchemy MVC and cross controller joins

  When using SQL Alchemy for abstracting your data access layer and using controllers as the way to access objects from that abstraction layer, how should joins be handled? So for example, say you have an Orders controller class that manages Order objects such that it provides getOrder, saveOrder, etc methods and likewise a similar controller for User objects. First of all do you even need these controllers? Should you instead just treat SQL Alchemy as "the" thing for handling data access. Why bother with object oriented controller stuff there when you instead have a clean declarative way to obtain and persist objects without having to write SQL directly either. Well one reason could be that perhaps you may want to replace SQL Alchemy with direct SQL or Storm or whatever else. So having controller classes there to act as an intermediate layer helps limit what would need to change then. Anyway - back to the main question - so assuming you have these two controllers, now lets say you want the list of orders for a certain set of users meeting some criteria. How do you go about doing this? Generally you don't want the controllers crossing domains - the Orders controllers knows only about Orders and the User controller just about Users - they don't mess with each other. You also don't want to go fetch all the Users that match and then feed a big list of user ids to the Orders controller to go find the matching Orders. What's needed is a join. Here's where I'm stuck - that seems to mean either the controllers must cross domains or perhaps they should be done away with altogether and you simply do the join via SQL Alchemy directly and get the resulting User and / or Order objects as needed. Thoughts?

One was an internship/co-op type position that turned full-time, while the other is contract work I've received mainly via circumstance.   I'm implementing the Euclidian algorithm for finding the GCD (Greatest Common Divisor) of two integers. Two sample implementations are given: Recursive and Iterative. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Euclidean_algorithm#Implementations My Question: In school I remember my professors talking about recursive functions like they were all the rage, but I have one doubt. Compared to an iterative version don't recursive algorithms take up more stack space and therefore much more memory? Also, because calling a function requires uses some overhead for initialization, aren't recursive algorithms more slower than their iterative counterpart?

  I'm starting a new JSF (2) project. I realize that pure JSF has some limitation and I'm planning to drop in spring. JSF is a relatively new approach in spring (there is not even a tag spring-faces in stackoverflow :-) ), jsp being the classic way. I need the best available adjustment of the technology stack. 1) do i need to use spring web flow too? 2) is it viable to use just spring faces (that seems to come as a part of web flow) + spring mvc+ JPA? 3) is there any good example of such a configuration?

• help finding a hosing company with unixODBC and FreeTDS support

  I need to find a hosting company that provides a LAMP stack, the P being PHP. Finding that is pretty easy, but I have a further requirement of unixODBC and FreeTDS or some equilant. The project will require a remote connection to a Microsoft SQL 2005 database. Most of the project will use a local MySQL database but it also requires data from a remote MS SQL 2005 database. In my reading it looks like I'll need unixODBC and FreeTDS installed on the server to make that connection. So far I've been unable to find a shared host that provides these. Can anyone suggest or use a host that might work? The project has budget limits so we we're hoping to find a shared host.

  We have two classes: template<typename T, typename Size, typename Stack, typename Sparse> class Matrix and template<typename T, typename Size> class Iterator Matrix should be able to return begin and end iterators and Iterator will keep a referrence to the Matrix to access the elements via it's interface. We don't want Iterator to depend on the internal storage of the Matrix to prevent coupling. How can we solve this cyclic dependency problem? (The internal Storage class has the same template parameters as the Matrix class and the same access procedures as the Matrix itself)

• Segmentation Fault when using "mov" in Assembly

  I am working on a simple assembly program for a class, and am encountering an odd segmentation fault. It's a pretty simple program to convert bytes into kilobytes. However, within the function that does the conversion, I get a segmentation fault when I try to move the value 1024 into the ebx register. I've never had this kind of problem before when working with registers. Does someone know what could be causing this? I imagine it is something simple that I'm overlooking. • alias_attribute and creating and method with the original attribute name causes a loop

  Im trying to dynamically create a method chain in one attribute in my model. By now I have this function: def create_filtered_attribute(attribute_name) alias_attribute "#{attribute_name}_without_filter", attribute_name define_method "#{attribute_name}" do filter_words(self.send("#{attribute_name}_without_filter")) end end so I receive a string with the attribute name, alias it for '*_without_filter*' (alias_method or alias_method_chain fails here, because the attribute isnt there when the class is created), and I create a new method with the attribute name, where I filter its contents. But somehow, when I call *"#{attribute_name}_without_filter"* it calls my new method (i think because the alias_attribute some how), and the program goes into a stack loop. Can someone please enlighten me on this.
