  • Decent simple SQL Server client

    Hi, does anyone know of a very simple SQL Server client tool - that does the same basic functions as Management Studio (i.e. choose a database and run a query - doesn't need an Object Explorer, or anything fancy)? Ideally it would be great to have a single exe or zip file version that I could take around on a USB key - anything to avoid installing the full set of SQL Server client tools all the time!     Hello, Stackoverflow! I'm new to SQL. I have created a new database in SQL Server Management Studio, and am now trying to attach it to a windows forms project in Visual Studio via the built in Data Configuration Wizard. Currently, whenever I try to attach the database file, I get a permissions error: "You don't have permission to open this file. Contact file owner or administrator to obtain permission" So, simple question -- how do I modify the permissions of my database to allow this?

  • Why do I get extra, unexpected results with my ack regex?

    I'm finally learning regexps and training with ack. I believe this uses Perl regexp. I want to match all lines where the first non-blank characters are if (<word> !, with any number of spaces in between the elements. This is what I came up with: ^[ \t]*if *\(\w+ *! It only nearly worked. ^[ \t]* is wrong, since it matches one or none [space or tab]. What I want is to match anything that may contain only space or tab (or nothing). For example these should not match: // if (asdf != 0) else if (asdf != 1) How can I modify my regexp for that? EDIT adding command line ack -i --group -a '^\s*if *\(\w+ *!' c:/work/proj/proj Note the single quotes, I'm not so sure about them anymore. My search base is a larger code base. It does include matching expressions (quite some), but even for example: 274: }else if (y != 0) , which I get as a result of the above command. Escaping the caret with ^^ does not work. Quoting the regex with " " instead of ' ' works. My problem was a DOS/win problem, sorry for bothering you all for that.

My question is if I set the value of a variable in a - (void)dowhatever when the void ends, will the contents of the variable be erased? If so is there a method (without writing to a file) that I can use to retain the variable contents? Thanks for any help

    I'm trying to adopt my development from Spring/Maven2/Tomcat -> Grails, and I'm wondering if there's an easy way to manage dependencies in grails separate from maven. Maven does a lot of the magic that grails is doing automatically (unit testing/building/etc.), so I wonder if there's a need for maven at all in grails projects. So, then, how do Grails users generally manage java dependencies? I've become accustomed to central repository dependency management, and I can't turn back at this point.

    We happily use SVN for SCM at work. Currently I've got our binary assets in the same SVN repository as our code. SVN supports very large files (it transmits them 'streamily' to keep memory usage sane), but it is SLOOWWWWW. What asset management software do you recommend, for about a GB (and growing) worth of assets? We would prefer branching and merging (different assets & config files go to different customers).

    In Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio 2008 there is a "Generate scripts..." option under the Tasks menu. I'm just wondering if this tool is available from the command line somehow? It looks similar to the sqlpubwiz.exe command line tool that was available for SQL Server 2005, but I can't find this executable anywhere in the SQL 2008 installation.

  • WPF - Pausing the UI Thread?

    I have a tab control with draggable tabs. When the mouse is released it removes the selected tab from the tabControl and adds it to its new location. My problem is that the TabControl draws itself after removing the tab, and then again when adding the tab so there is a very noticeable flicker that shows the tab behind the tab being moved. Is there a way I can pause the UI thread so the tab control does not redraw until both the Remove and the Insert operations finish? Or perhaps some other alternative way of rearranging the tab items? The Drag/Drop operation exists in a separate code file as an Attached Property

I thought i had to configure the remote authentication if i access the JMX server remotely from a different machine. By remote access do they mean accessing the JMX server from any VM either locally or remotely?
