• Git version control with multiple users

  Hello, i am a little bit lost with this issue, let me explain you my problem: I want to setup a git repository, three of four users will contribute, so they need to download the code and shall be able to upload their changes to the server or update their branch with the latest modifications. So, i setup a linux machine, install git, setup the repository, then add the users in order to enable the acces throught ssh. Now my question is, What's next?, the git documentation is a little bit confusing, i.e. when i try from a dummy user account to clone the repository i got: xxx@xxx-desktop:~/Documentos/git/test$ git clone -v ssh://[email protected]/pub.git Initialized empty Git repository in /home/xxx/Documentos/git/test/pub/.git/ [email protected]'s password: fatal: '/pub.git' does not appear to be a git repository fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly is that a problem of privileges? need any special configuration? i want to avoid using git-daemon or gitosis, sorry, maybe my question sound silly but git is powerfull but i admit not so user friendly. • Mail Enabled Sharepoint 2010 Loop Detected

  I have setup a small Sharepoint 2010 deployment and it is working fine, for now. I have run through one of the more popular step by step guides to mail enable the install and what I have is internal and external mail going to my mail enabled list hitting my Exchange 2010 server (on another Win2k8R2 box) and sitting in the submissions queue with a Loop Detected error and they progres no further. Everything appears OK as per the guide. I have setup an SMTP role on the Sharepoint box, as per the guide. I have setup a new Send Conenctor on the Exchange 2010 server, as per the guide. Any ideas on troubleshooting here?

  I have installed Microsoft Office on my new Windows 7 64-bit system. Recently, it encounter some error and I tried to re-install it. It wasn't successful. So, I have to use Microsoft Install Clean Up to uninstall Microsoft Office. When I tried to install it again, I received this message: Microsoft Office 2007 encountered an error during setup. Error 1402. Setup cannot open the registry key. {a bunch of long keys}. Verify that you have sufficient permissions to access the registry or contact Microsoft Product Support Service for assistance. For information about how to contact PSS, see {a *chm file}. After that, I tried to run the setup as administrator but I ended up with the same error. So what should I do to solve this problem?

• Windows 7 gadgets changing place when I move from dual monitor to a single one

  Hi, I am using Windows 7 on my laptop. At the office, I have a dual monitor setup through my docking station while at home or during meetings I use my laptop with its single monitor. Whenever I move between these two setups, Windows 7 plays with the location of the gadgets I have and I need to rearrange them each time. Is there a way to tell it to store these settings and locations (both gadgets and icons) so that it will remember their placement on the dual monitor setup and it will remember a different placement for the single monitor setup?

• git svn on multiple machines

  My repo is SVN and I'm using git-svn to interface with it which has been working out well. I'm working on the code base from a few different machines and appreciate some insight as to what the best setup might be for me going forward. I'd like to use git primarily but I need to commit to svn (via git svn dcommit) and pull from svn (git svn rebase) periodically from potentially any of the machines. Is it possible to perhaps have git svn setup on all but somehow push and pull changes between the instances? Or should I setup a bare repo and use that as the central git repo? How would that tie in to git svn? Any insight is appreciated.

• Unable to cast transparent proxy to type &lt;type&gt;

  This is not the first time I've run into this wonderful error while creating new AppDomains in .NET and then trying to load types and access them across App Domains. In almost all cases the problem I've run into with this error the problem comes from the two AppDomains involved loading different copies of the same type. Unless the types match exactly and come exactly from the same assembly the typecast will fail. The most common scenario is that the types are loaded from different assemblies - as unlikely as that sounds. An Example of Failure To give some context, I'm working on some old code in Html Help Builder that creates a new AppDomain in order to parse assembly information for documentation purposes. I create a new AppDomain in order to load up an assembly process it and then immediately unload it along with the AppDomain. The AppDomain allows for unloading that otherwise wouldn't be possible as well as isolating my code from the assembly that's being loaded. The process to accomplish this is fairly established and I use it for lots of applications that use add-in like functionality - basically anywhere where code needs to be isolated and have the ability to be unloaded. My pattern for this is: Create a new AppDomain Load a Factory Class into the AppDomain Use the Factory Class to load additional types from the remote domain Here's the relevant code from my TypeParserFactory that creates a domain and then loads a specific type - TypeParser - that is accessed cross-AppDomain in the parent domain:public class TypeParserFactory : System.MarshalByRefObject,IDisposable { …/// <summary> /// TypeParser Factory method that loads the TypeParser /// object into a new AppDomain so it can be unloaded. /// Creates AppDomain and creates type. /// </summary> /// <returns></returns> public TypeParser CreateTypeParser() { if (!CreateAppDomain(null)) return null; /// Create the instance inside of the new AppDomain /// Note: remote domain uses local EXE's AppBasePath!!! Here I need to call methods on the remote object so all classes are MarshalByRefObject. The specific problem code is the loading up a new type which points at an assembly that visible both in the current domain and the remote domain and then instantiates a type from it. This is the code in question:Assembly assembly = Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly(); string assemblyPath = Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly().Location; parser = (TypeParser) this.LocalAppDomain.CreateInstanceFrom(assemblyPath, typeof(TypeParser).FullName).Unwrap(); The last line of code is what blows up with the Unable to cast transparent proxy to type <type> error. Without the cast the code actually returns a TransparentProxy instance, but the cast is what blows up. In other words I AM in fact getting a TypeParser instance back but it can't be cast to the TypeParser type that is loaded in the current AppDomain. Finding the Problem To see what's going on I tried using the .NET 4.0 dynamic type on the result and lo and behold it worked with dynamic - the value returned is actually a TypeParser instance: Assembly assembly = Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly(); string assemblyPath = Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly().Location; object objparser = this.LocalAppDomain.CreateInstanceFrom(assemblyPath, typeof(TypeParser).FullName).Unwrap(); // dynamic works dynamic dynParser = objparser; string info = dynParser.GetVersionInfo(); // method call works // casting fails parser = (TypeParser)objparser; So clearly a TypeParser type is coming back, but nevertheless it's not the right one. Hmmm… mysterious.Another couple of tries reveal the problem however:// works dynamic dynParser = objparser; string info = dynParser.GetVersionInfo(); // method call works // c:\wwapps\wwhelp\wwReflection20.dll (Current Execution Folder) string info3 = typeof(TypeParser).Assembly.CodeBase; // c:\program files\vfp9\wwReflection20.dll (my COM client EXE's folder) string info4 = dynParser.GetType().Assembly.CodeBase; // fails parser = (TypeParser)objparser; As you can see the second value is coming from a totally different assembly. Note that this is even though I EXPLICITLY SPECIFIED an assembly path to load the assembly from! Instead .NET decided to load the assembly from the original ApplicationBase folder. Ouch! How I actually tracked this down was a little more tedious: I added a method like this to both the factory and the instance types and then compared notes:public string GetVersionInfo() { return ".NET Version: " + Environment.Version.ToString() + "\r\n" + "wwReflection Assembly: " + typeof(TypeParserFactory).Assembly.CodeBase.Replace("file:///", "").Replace("/", "\\") + "\r\n" + "Assembly Cur Dir: " + Directory.GetCurrentDirectory() + "\r\n" + "ApplicationBase: " + AppDomain.CurrentDomain.SetupInformation.ApplicationBase + "\r\n" + "App Domain: " + AppDomain.CurrentDomain.FriendlyName + "\r\n"; } For the factory I got: .NET Version: 4.0.30319.239wwReflection Assembly: c:\wwapps\wwhelp\bin\wwreflection20.dllAssembly Cur Dir: c:\wwapps\wwhelpApplicationBase: C:\Programs\vfp9\App Domain: wwReflection534cfa1f For the instance type I got: .NET Version: 4.0.30319.239wwReflection Assembly: C:\\Programs\\vfp9\wwreflection20.dllAssembly Cur Dir: c:\\wwapps\\wwhelpApplicationBase: C:\\Programs\\vfp9\App Domain: wwDotNetBridge_56006605 which clearly shows the problem. You can see that both are loading from different appDomains but the each is loading the assembly from a different location. Probably a better solution yet (for ANY kind of assembly loading problem) is to use the .NET Fusion Log Viewer to trace assembly loads.The Fusion viewer will show a load trace for each assembly loaded and where it's looking to find it. Here's what the viewer looks like: The last trace above that I found for the second wwReflection20 load (the one that is wonky) looks like this:*** Assembly Binder Log Entry (1/13/2012 @ 3:06:49 AM) *** The operation was successful. Notice that the fusion log clearly shows that the .NET loader makes no attempt to even load the assembly from the path I explicitly specified. Remember your Assembly Locations As mentioned earlier all failures I've seen like this ultimately resulted from different versions of the same type being available in the two AppDomains. At first sight that seems ridiculous - how could the types be different and why would you have multiple assemblies - but there are actually a number of scenarios where it's quite possible to have multiple copies of the same assembly floating around in multiple places. If you're hosting different environments (like hosting the Razor Engine, or ASP.NET Runtime for example) it's common to create a private BIN folder and it's important to make sure that there's no overlap of assemblies. In my case of Html Help Builder the problem started because I'm using COM interop to access the .NET assembly and the above code. COM Interop has very specific requirements on where assemblies can be found and because I was mucking around with the loader code today, I ended up moving assemblies around to a new location for explicit loading. The explicit load works in the main AppDomain, but failed in the remote domain as I showed. The solution here was simple enough: Delete the extraneous assembly which was left around by accident. Not a common problem, but one that when it bites is pretty nasty to figure out because it seems so unlikely that types wouldn't match. I know I've run into this a few times and writing this down hopefully will make me remember in the future rather than poking around again for an hour trying to debug the issue as I did today.   Hi I was trying to run Windows XP under Virtual Box (host system Ubuntu 10.04) and I've got an error message saying: Kernel driver not installed (rc=-1908) The VirtualBox Linux kernel driver (vboxdrv) is either not loaded or there is a permission problem with /dev/vboxdrv. Re-setup the kernel module by executing '/etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup' as root. Users of Ubuntu, Fedora or Mandriva should install the DKMS package first. This package keeps track of Linux kernel changes and recompiles the vboxdrv kernel module if necessary. This is terminal output: maria@maria-laptop:~$ sudo /etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup * Stopping VirtualBox kernel modules * done. * Uninstalling old VirtualBox DKMS kernel modules * done. * Trying to register the VirtualBox kernel modules using DKMS * Failed, trying without DKMS * Recompiling VirtualBox kernel modules * done. * Starting VirtualBox kernel modules * done. After that I can run XP on Virtual Box, but when I try to log into user's account, I have the message that I have to register XP (I haven't done it yet, as each time I was cliking on pop-up window suggesting registration, nothing was happening). • IIS 6.0 FTP Folder Permissions

  I have a IIS Ftp website setup like so \ftp\users\domain\public\public Software that runs on clients computers logs into the FTP by specifying domain\public and moving to public, it then uploads or downloads files / folders into that area. I wan't to restrict the permissions on \ftp\users\domain\public so that nothing / noone can write files or folders here, only to \ftp\users\domain\public\public. I setup the NTFS permissions of the folder to remove domain\users, public and server\users to not have modify right, yet I can still upload / modify files. I have disabled inheritance from the parent folder of \ftp\users\domain\public as well. Any ideas on what I'm missing here? P.S I know this is a stupid setup and makes no sense, it's some bizarre legacy application that I need to migrate to a safer environment until it can be replaced, then I'm going to light it on fire -.- and dance around it.

• Should EC2 server self register or have admin server

  I'm creating AWS servers using chef. I am also planning on enabling auto-scaling. While we have automatic monitoring setup already (server density or nagios etc), I was also going to setup the cloud watch alarm for the status check on the server. This led me down the path of trying to decide whether to install the ec2-command-line tools on the server itself (which then requires me to install java on the servers -- despite no other need for Java in our environment) or to possible have an "admin" box that will check periodically for servers and make sure they have their alarms set. I expect this paradigm to carry over to other things we want to configure (perhaps ensuring that termination protection is setup on production servers?). Any thoughts as to why to go one direction or another?

So while we were planning on building our setup, one idea came to my head that it seems possible but i want also your opinions. Lets say that we have 2 ATX Motherboards and 1 MicroATX. Motherboard Setup: 1x ASUS Rampage Extreme Black Edition 1x Intel Core i7 4960x 4x GTX Titan 8x 8GB 1866 Ram Motherboard Setup: 1x SuperMicro X9DRG-QF 2x Intel Xeon E7-8890V2 1x nVIDIA QUADRO K6000 4x nVIDIA Tesla K40 128 GB 1866 Ram And imagine a Solid State Drive with a Switch connected to both of the MotherBoards Can i edit & copy all the data of The first motherboard's RAM to The Other's to be able to continue operating my current Operation System after switching the SSD to the Second Motherboard, from the Second MotherBoard and vice versa? Les say my "Switch Application" modifies everything the Kernel needs to believe nothing happend and continuing its operation from the same point the first motherboard stopped. (Changes on the Device List, CPU Cores, Drivers... etc)

• OpenVPN Push DNS Not Working Correctly On Windows

  I currently have OpenVPN server setup on an Ubuntu machine, as well as DNSMasq. I am wanting to push DNS to the client (road warrior setup.) I had the push "dhcp-option DNS x.x.x.x" where x.x.x.x was an open OpenDNS server, for testing, and everything was working when I connected from my Windows client But now that I have DNSMasq setup, and I changed the "dhcp-option DNS x.x.x.x" to the DNSMasq server, but when they client connects it still receives the old, OpenDNS DNS server IP. I'm at a bit of a loss here, I have tried flushing DNS on the client, rebooting the server, and I even grep'd the entire server to see if the OpenDNS IP was in some other config I was missing...it wasn't. One other note, when connect to the VPN and explicitly run nslookup against against the DNSMasq IP, the addresses resolve correctly, so it isn't a DNSMasq issue.

I'm having a hard time figuring out what is needed to prepare the machine for Exchange 2007 installation. • Filezilla FTP Server - Security Implications of its usage on Windos Server 2003

  I'm running Filezilla server on my dedicated windows 2003 server. It uses its own user-access control system. The Filezilla server service itself is running under the System user. When I setup users within the FTP Server Administrator Interface, I do not need to setup equivalent users, or adjust permissions on folders to allow users to login. Example: I setup TestFTP user with password 'p' I set the home directoy of TestFTP user to be e:/website I verify that e:/website only has permission for the System and Admin accounts (right click - security in windows explorer) TestFTP is able to login to the server just fine. I'm OK with this (perhaps due to ignorance?). Is it generally frounded upon to utilize a FTP Server such as FileZilla Server that bypasses the built-in UAC in this method? If I wasn't clear enough, please let me know.

  Hi all, I need to setup a bunch of accounts (~50) with Google which will later be hooked up to Analytics and the Webmaster tools and I will access them via their APIs. The problem is that Google will stop me from making accounts at a certain point because it thinks I'm spamming it. I've tried bypassing the issue by proxying through Tor, but that didn't work (I suspect the Tor nodes are already abused and blacklisted). I also drove around town with my iPhone hopping towers trying to setup accounts. Also didn't work. Phone verification also doesn't work because my phone is already linked to too many accounts... So, I figure it's time to ask. How can I continue to setup Google accounts (NOT GMail...) without being considered a spammer? If there's a service from Google to whitelist my IP, even for a fee, I would be glad to sign up for it. Any suggestions will be appreciated!

• Apache virtual host for drupal test site

  Hello, I am a programmer, trying to launch my first website.. through different helpful posts in sf and others, I setup an account with Linode and set up a slice (Debian, Apache, ..etc). I have a Drupal site under development, and like to have a test site in the Linode server as well. Now, I like to have a site setup with the following requirement. What is the best way to setup and protect the test site along with the actual (production) site?. Is virtual host is the answer? To protect the test site, is .htaccess authentication sufficient to prevent access from public and robots? I also modifying the theme, database contents etc, so having two sites under one drupal installation may not be good idea . what do u suggest? thanks in advance. bsreekanth.

• How Can I Point My Local Testing Server at My GitHub Repository?

  Up until a few days ago, I had a particular setup that was as follows. Using SVN, all of the websites that I developed were committed to a source control drop box on a local testing server. Then using IIS, a new website was set up to point at the last revision of each particular website I developed and display it to the outside world using a specific URL. I have just moved over to using git and github, meaning all of my source controlled code is now no longer stored on a local testing server. As a result of this, I am not sure how I can go about doing a similar thing to what I did with the SVN setup, however I need to be able to essentially have that same setup again, just using Git. So basically, how can I go about getting my local testing server to point at the GitHub repository for that site? Help greatly appreciated.

• Setting up a static IP address (public) in Ubuntu

  I have a business class internet connection and need to setup a static ip address for a machine. I did a search online and only find how to setup static local ip addresses (like 192.168..). I tried the same technique, and only setup the ip address and netmask, but after restart networking the computer could not connect to the outside world. This is what I did: 1) edit /etc/network/interfaces iface eth0 inet static address 173.10.xxx.xx netmask 255.255.255.252 2) edit /etc/resolv.conf search wp.comcast.net nameserver xx.xx.xx.xxx nameserver xx.xx.xx.xxx 3) restart network sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart Now the last step didn't report error, ifconfig shows the ip address was set, but this server cannot connect to outside world, ping google.com and reports "unknown host google.com". Any ideas?

• Apache 2 Symbolic link not allowed or link target not accessible

  While the title of this question matches an already asked question, in my case I already set Options +FollowSymLinks. The setup is the following: my hosting setup includes htdocs/ directory that is the default document root for HTTP websites and htdocs-secure that is for HTTPS. They are meant for sites that need a different HTTPS version. In case both share the same files I create a link from htdocs-secure to htdocs by ln -s htdocs htdocs-secure but here comes the problem! Log still says Symbolic link not allowed or link target not accessible: /path/to/htdocs-secure Vhost fragment Header always set Strict-Transport-Security "max-age=500" DocumentRoot /path/to/htdocs-secure <Directory "/path/to/htdocs-secure"> allow from all Options +FollowSymLinks </Directory> I think it's a correct setup. The HTTP version of the site is accessible, so it doesn't look like a permission problem. How to fix this? [Add] other info: I use MPM-itk and I set AssignUserId to the owner/group of both the directories

• How to solve Microsoft Office error 1402 on Windows 7?

  I have installed Microsoft Office on my new Windows 7 64-bit system. Recently, it encounter some error and i tried to re-install it. It wa\sn't successful. So, I have to use Microsoft Install Clean Up to uninstall Microsoft Office. When I tried to install it back, I received this message: Microsoft Office 2007 encountered an error during setup. Error 1402. Setup cannot open the registry key. {a bunch of long keys}. Verify that you have sufficient permissions to access the registry or contact Microsoft Product Support Service for assistance. For information about how to contact PSS, see {a *chm file}. After that, I tried to run the setup as admin but I ended up woth the same error. So, what should I do to solve this problem?

• configure cisco catalyst 3560g with an egress uplink

  Currently my setup has our egress uplink connected directly to an external interface on a linux router/firewall/nat gateway. Since the linux box is a single point of failure, I've since setup two openbsd boxes using carp+pf+pfsync in order to gain some additional redundancy. the problem is, I only have one egress uplink (it's still a single point of failure) but need to get it to speak to the active carp node in my openbsd cluster which will server as my new router/firewall/nat cluster. Is there anything specific I need to do on a 3560G in order for me to be able to: 1) Drop the egress uplink into a port 2) Drop one link from the switch to a firewall 2) Drop a second link from a switch to the firewall This is so if one box dies, the other still has the egress link to the switch. Is putting them into one VLAN enough? Anything else that needs to go into the configuration for this setup to work?

I am currently setting up an Exchange 2013 server, to replace our old POP3/SMTP system, however we would like to roll this out gradually when convenient for our staff. Our plan is therefore: Setup Exchange 2013 to retrieve email via POP Connector - Done Setup Exchange 2013 to send ALL mail via a SmartHost - Issues I have set the domains in Mail Flow Accepted Domains to Internal Relay, enabled a Smart Host for * as the domain name, and disabled/deleted the accounts that are not setup yet; however Exchange just bounces the emails with no errors.
