  • Eclipse Indigo freezes on 'Open Type' search

    When I'm trying to search for a Java class with Ctrl-shift-T (Open Type popup), Eclipse freezes when I'm typing 1 character. It usually takes about 8 seconds to 'unfreeze', but sometimes it won't come back at all.. When it freezes, I see that the eclipse process takes about 1Gig of mem and the CPU is about 100%! I've tried creating a new workspace, adjusting the eclipse.ini (perm size, different memory values), starting with -clean and at last reinstall the whole IDE. Nothing helps.. I'm desperate for a solution because this problems causes me a great deal of time loss. System: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 64 bit, 4GB mem, Intel core i7 860 @ 2.8 Ghz. Hope somebody knows a solution.   • RabbitMQ Management console not working

    I have started with RabbitMQ. I have a (windows) machine on which I installed two RabbitMQ nodes as a service - I have choose the nodename, port and service name for each of them. The services are running normally (i see that they are listening in a netstat-a). I have also installed management plugin with "rabbitmq-plugins enable rabbitmq_management" and restarted both services. But the plugin isn't running - I dont see it listening in a netstat and I can't connect to the management console via browser. Any idea what could be wrong? Is there any log to see what is goind on?   • Website latency and bad tcp packets

    I have multiple websites hosted on a Linode VPS and I'm having an issue with one of them: every page that I try to load has about 10 seconds latency. Apache logs are clean and the other websites on the same machine are running well. At a first glance I tought it was a memory problem since the VPS has got only 512M, but from the linode dashboard CPU and Disk I/O are normal. Anyway here we have the ram status: $ free -m total used free shared buffers cached Mem: 487 463 23 0 2 55 -/+ buffers/cache: 404 82 Swap: 255 155 100 Only 23M free, but if it was a memory problem why other websites are going as usual? I took a live capture with wireshark, and there are some duplicates SYN ACK packets just before the 10 seconds gap. I'm out of ideas, looking for some clues.   • visually documenting web server configuration and infrastructure

    I have just finished a large re-organization and update of our institutions web server(s). This server hosts 3 virtual hosts, 3-4 blogs, 2 wikis, some legacy static HTML pages, and many hosted documents (PDF, .jpg, .xls). I have organized the site into a structure of something like: /var/www/sites/vhost1, vhost2, vhost3 .../wordpress/blogX .../mediawiki/wikiX Data is in a seperate directory structure so I can run a cron task over it to make sure it is all writeable and such. I then symlink to these data directories for each application. /var/www/data/vhost1, vhost2, vhost3 .../wordpress/blogX/uploads .../mediawiki/wikiX/images All Apache configs are in /etc/httpd/conf.d/vhosts.d/vhost1,2,3.conf On top of this there is also a testing server which mirrors this setup. Once changes are fully tested, they are rsynced down to the live server. All the wordpress installs and mediawiki installs are straight form SVN and updates are done by switching branches or "svn up". So my question is how can I best document to share with a) co-workers, b) possible future replacement, c) myself 6 months from now. Obviously I can make a wiki page, excel document, whatever and fill it with text, but I am looking for a more visual representation that I can use to explain the architecture to less-technical people. Ideally it would be awesome if this visual representation could then be expanded to get more technical details.

  • Map Subdomains to Folders Owned/Run by Other Apache/PHP/Cpanel Users

    I run a small service for Norwegian customers where they get automatically installed and configured Wordpress blogs on their own domains ready immediately after payment is finished. It's quite similar to Page.ly and WPEngine, just aimed at Norwegian customers with Norwegian Wordpress, support, billing etc. The backend is WHM/CPanel (Apache, PHP, mySQL), with a script running immediately after payment that installs and configures Wordpress and sends the customer an email with their username and password. Newly registered domains takes some time to propagate though, so for a day or two my customers unfortunately have to use a temporary URL before I can switch them over to their own domains. Right now my system uses mod_userdir ("serverIP/~cpanelusername"). However, it's not an optimal solution. It looks unprofessional, is confusing, and is quite problematic for both my customers and me. I'd rather prefer the temporary URL for their blogs to be "theirdomainwithoutextension.host.no", with "host.no" being a domain I own and served from the same server as the customer sites. I can easily modify the script to create the subdomains on my "host.no"-domain, but how can I seamlessly map the subdomains to folders owned/ran on/by different CPanel/Apache/PHP users?

  • in flashbuilder (flex 4) select enclosing element

    Seems Adobe ignores strong movement now towards the productive programming. E.g. flash builder ide lacks keyboard shortcuts that are very useful in eclipse. If code templates, extract method, extract local variables are covered by some not-free plugins (and not cheap) like source mate, expanding selection to enclosing element I cannot find how to enable. Maybe you guys know some plugins doing that? Usually in eclipse it is Alt Shift Up to select enclosing block.

Only slight annoyance is that when developing new plugins, I don't get intellisense on classes inside the App_Code directory. Currently I am creating them in another directory inside my project and then copying them into App_Code. is there any way around this?

    Are there any tools that can verify whether a jQuery plugin will be compatible with the latest version of jQuery? Once a large number of jQuery plugins are selected and in use, an unknown number of dependencies can develop. It would be nice to upgrade jQuery, however not all plugins remain supported or provide consistently architected upgrades. The only option seems to be adhoc manual regression testing. It would be nice to have a strategy for dealing with this issue.

    I have an initialization script to set up my MongoDB connection in the config/initialization directory. It is my understanding that these initializers run after all of the plugins are initialized. The problem I am having is that when a particular plugin I am using is initialized, it tries to access the mongodb before I have set it up. I get this error: uninitialized class variable @@database_name in MongoMapper My question is: Where can I initialize Mongodb that will run after the mongodb gem has been loaded and before any of the plugins are initialized?

    I have a text area in which users can type source code (html/css/js). I want to be able to let them click a "switch to fullscreen" link to make the editor fullscreen. Of course, this should work on any resolution and must also resize when a users resizes it's window. I found this plugin, http://plugins.jquery.com/project/fulltextarea, but it's not resizing when the browser windows is resized. Any tips or plugins for this one?
