  • Trying to run psexec to remote to server and recycle app pool

    If I run this from my command prompt it works fine. psexec \ServerName cscript.exe iisapp.vbs /a AppName /r I'm trying to do the same thing with C# console app. I'm using the below code but most of the time the application hangs and doesn't complete, and the few times it does it throws an error code. Am I doing this wrong?   • Turning Separate iPad/iPhone Targets into Universal App

    I, when I got my hands on the iPad SDK Beta, thought the universal binary would be to much work, so i opted for the separate targets. I realized halfway through making the iPad portion of my app, that making a universal application would be easy as pie. The issue is, I can't use Apple's option to convert my iPhone Target to Universal. The only thing that I would need to do in the Info.plist of the universal application would be to set a different MainWindow. How could I approach the problem? Is there a workaround to get Apple's way to work (maybe by deleting the existing iPad Target)? Is there a good way to do it manually? If any of you have experience on this subject, help would be much appreciated Thanks, Conrad Kramer

  • Implementing Read Only view in Winform App

    I have an in house winform app for viewing, editing, and inserting member data. There are about 40 sepertate form pages that they use to manipulate different portions of the data. My question is this; What is the best way of implementing a read only view for a form page? My thoughts were to cycle through the controls setting Enabled = False or leave them be but not allow any data changes(no Save Button etc) unless it is "unlocked". I am curious how others handle this with WinForm apps?

  • Do Blob properties on entities affect query performance?

    Hello I'm trying to make my mind on whether to store a binary representation of an entity as its Blob property, or whether I better keep the blobs in some separate 'wrapping' class. Possible impact on memory heap and/or a query execution time are my concerns in the first case, complexity votes against the other one. I know Blobs are not indexed, i.e. index size is not what I'm worrying about. Also I assume for blobs Datastore puts defaultFetchGroup to false, but does it mean that blobs don't make a difference in queries? Regards J. Záruba

    I created a customer configuration class Reports. I then created another class called "ReportsCollection". When I try and do the "ConfigurationManager.GetSection()", it doesn't populate my collection variable. Can anyone see any mistakes in my code?   • Custom size app screen on iPad

    I am trying to create a mid-size screen for my app on iPad. In didFinishLaunchingWithOptions(), I do this: CGRect winRect = CGRectMake(100,100,500,500); navController.view.frame = winRect; the screen comes up fine and I can click around and do stuff until the orientation changes. It takes the screen to original full size - how can I make it stick to my winRect frame? I tried setting the parentViewController.view.frame/view.frame to winRect in willRotateToInterfaceOrientation() but no good. Any ideas? Thanks.

I need it to work when you login and press "Remember me on this computer" I'm not sure how to set it up to actually remember your login and keep you logged in when you come back to the app. Is there a way to 'save' the state of the application when you quite it and come back to what you were doing?   • Transportation Web App - utilizing google or bing map api

    I am working on a transportation web app and I am having a bit of a problem. First, I want to be able to define a shipping corridor, say like I-95 between Baltimore MD and Richmond VA. And store what parameters I need to define this route. Users will then use a web interface and can select various routes, in this case, I-95. Vendors will be posting constantly changing pickup locations in the application database which have a shelf life of about 2 days. Some of these locations maybe along this route. I am storing the LAT and LONG for the specific location right now. If any of these points ARE along or within 2 mile of the route (just off the highway basically - the ideal check would based on an actual highway exit but at this point anything would work), I want them to show up in my search results. Any ideas or suggestions?

    I'm running this query: SELECT FROM com.Data WHERE entryDate DATE('2010-3-16') I get this error: org.datanucleus.store.appengine.query.DatastoreQuery$UnsupportedDatastoreFeatureException: Problem with query DATE('2010-3-16'): Unsupported method while parsing expression: InvokeExpression{[null].DATE(Literal{2010-3-16})} The same query works when I use it on the admin console. But it does not work for code (java), either locally or when deployed. Any ideas?

    Two "I'm sorries" to begin with: 1) I've looked for a solution (here, and elsewhere), and couldn't find the answer. 2) English is not my mother tongue, so I may have some typos and the sort - please ignore them. To the point: I am trying to persist Java objects to the GAE datastore. I am not sure as to how to persist object having ("non-trivial") referenced object. That is, assume I have the following. public class Father { String name; int age; Vector<Child> offsprings; //this is what I call "non-trivial" reference //ctor, getters, setters... } public class Child { String name; int age; Father father; //this is what I call "non-trivial" reference //ctor, getters, setters... } The name field is unique in each type domain, and is considered a Primary-Key. In order to persist the "trivial" (String, int) fields, all I need is to add the correct annotation. So far so good. However, I don't understand how should I persist the home-brewed (Child, Father) types referenced. Should I: Convert each such reference to hold the Primary-Key (a name String, in this example) instead of the "actual" object. So, Vector<Child> offsprings; becomes Vector<String> offspringsNames; ? If that is the case, how do I handle the object at run-time? Do I just query for the Primary-Key from Class.getName, to retrieve the refrenced objects? Convert each such reference to hold the actual Key provided to me by the Datastore upon the proper put() operation? So, Vector<Child> offsprings; becomes Vector<Key> offspringsHashKeys; ? I would very much appreciate all kinds of comments. I have read ALL the offical relevant GAE docs/example. Throughout, they always persist "trivial" references, natively supported by the Datastore (e.g. in the Guestbook example, only Strings, and Longs). Many thanks, David

    I need to resize and crop to exactly 60x80px from various size and aspect ratio. Just before i put into Datastore. Anyone already got this issue resolved. Currently i already succed to just transform it to exact height (80px) with various width which nott look so good when i try to display it on a list. e.g jcaroussel.     I know this may end up getting closed quickly. I could not find this in my searching through APIs. And this is probably a very simple question but here we go... How do you store data on a google application you create in which you and others in a specific group or more specifically the people who can edit a specific calendar, can reach this data? Person A,B,C have read/write access to a calendar, and lets say they want to co-ordinate information. I want this information to not be accessible to modify by all 3 though it is not stored in a calendar? (Though I thought about just creating an event in 1900 and then that fullfills that, but at the same time is a very hack way to do it) I would appreciate any insight you can give me when it comes to data handling in google applications, I am very new to it, but have been looking into it.

    Similar but not the same: How to securely store database connection details Securely connecting to database within a application Hi all, I have a C# WinForms application connecting to a database server. The database connection string, including a generic user/pass, is placed in a NHibernate configuration file, which lies in the same directory as the exe file. Now I have this issue: The user that runs the application should not get to know the username/password of the general database user because I don't want him to rummage around in the database directly. Alternatively I could hardcode the connection string, which is bad because the administrator must be able to change it if the database is moved or if he wants to switch between dev/test/prod environments. So long I've found three possibilities: The first referenced question was generally answered by making the file only readable for the user that runs the application. But that's not not enough in my case (the user running the application is a person. The database user/pass are general and shouldn't even be accessible by the person.) The first answer additionally proposed to encrypt the connection data before writing it to the file. With this approach, the administrator is not able anymore to configure the connection string because he cannot encrypt it by hand. The second referenced question provides an approach for this very scenario but it seems very complicated. My questions to you: This is a very general issue, so isn't there any general "how-to-do-it" way, somehow a "design pattern"? Is there some support in .NET's config infrastructure? (optional, maybe out of scope) Can I combine that easily with the NHibernate configuration mechanism?
