  • Implementing Read Only view in Winform App

    I have an in house winform app for viewing, editing, and inserting member data. There are about 40 sepertate form pages that they use to manipulate different portions of the data. My question is this; What is the best way of implementing a read only view for a form page? My thoughts were to cycle through the controls setting Enabled = False or leave them be but not allow any data changes(no Save Button etc) unless it is "unlocked". I am curious how others handle this with WinForm apps?

  • Why use Oracle Application Express for web app?

    Hi all. I believe we're moving to Oracle Apex for future development. I've read about Oracle Apex on wikipedia and it's pro and con. It seem to me the con outweigh the pro but maybe I'm wrong. I get the sense that Oracle Apex is for DBA with little or no programing knowledge to setup a web app quickly sort like MS Access for none programmer. If you have Oracle Apex working experience, can you share your though? From wikipedia's entry, it doesn't seem like you need to know any programming language at all but just the PL/SQL? edit: Is Oracle Apex scalable? Can it handle traffic like Facebook's size? Thank.   • Iphone App Similar to the Talking Larry Application

    I am developing iphone application similar to the Talking Larry Application. I am facing an issue of Low Memory when i pre-load the animations into an NSMutable Array. If i do not pre-load the animations and load it into the Animation Images when the user touch the button then it takes Time and it play back the animation very Slow. And during video making it does not play the complete animations. How can i resolve this issue. I want to play back the animations similar to the Talking Larry app and do not want to get Low Memory Issue.

  • Do Blob properties on entities affect query performance?

    Hello I'm trying to make my mind on whether to store a binary representation of an entity as its Blob property, or whether I better keep the blobs in some separate 'wrapping' class. Possible impact on memory heap and/or a query execution time are my concerns in the first case, complexity votes against the other one. I know Blobs are not indexed, i.e. index size is not what I'm worrying about. Also I assume for blobs Datastore puts defaultFetchGroup to false, but does it mean that blobs don't make a difference in queries? Regards J. Záruba

    I created a customer configuration class Reports. I then created another class called "ReportsCollection". When I try and do the "ConfigurationManager.GetSection()", it doesn't populate my collection variable. Can anyone see any mistakes in my code?   • Turning Separate iPad/iPhone Targets into Universal App

    I, when I got my hands on the iPad SDK Beta, thought the universal binary would be to much work, so i opted for the separate targets. I realized halfway through making the iPad portion of my app, that making a universal application would be easy as pie. The issue is, I can't use Apple's option to convert my iPhone Target to Universal. The only thing that I would need to do in the Info.plist of the universal application would be to set a different MainWindow. How could I approach the problem? Is there a workaround to get Apple's way to work (maybe by deleting the existing iPad Target)? Is there a good way to do it manually? If any of you have experience on this subject, help would be much appreciated Thanks, Conrad Kramer

  • Trying to run psexec to remote to server and recycle app pool

    If I run this from my command prompt it works fine. psexec \ServerName cscript.exe iisapp.vbs /a AppName /r I'm trying to do the same thing with C# console app. I'm using the below code but most of the time the application hangs and doesn't complete, and the few times it does it throws an error code. Am I doing this wrong?   • GAE images.resize with fixed proportional crop

    I need to resize and crop to exactly 60x80px from various size and aspect ratio. Just before i put into Datastore. Anyone already got this issue resolved. Currently i already succed to just transform it to exact height (80px) with various width which nott look so good when i try to display it on a list. e.g jcaroussel.   • Custom size app screen on iPad

    I am trying to create a mid-size screen for my app on iPad. In didFinishLaunchingWithOptions(), I do this: CGRect winRect = CGRectMake(100,100,500,500); navController.view.frame = winRect; the screen comes up fine and I can click around and do stuff until the orientation changes. It takes the screen to original full size - how can I make it stick to my winRect frame? I tried setting the parentViewController.view.frame/view.frame to winRect in willRotateToInterfaceOrientation() but no good. Any ideas? Thanks.

    I've setup this task queue implementation on a site I host for a customer, it has a cron job which runs each morning at 2am "/admin/tasks/queue", this queues up emails to be sent out, "/admin/tasks/email", and uses cursors so as to do the queuing in small chunks. For some reason last night /admin/tasks/queue kept getting run by this code and so sent out my whole quota of emails :/.     I'm running this query: SELECT FROM com.Data WHERE entryDate DATE('2010-3-16') I get this error: org.datanucleus.store.appengine.query.DatastoreQuery$UnsupportedDatastoreFeatureException: Problem with query DATE('2010-3-16'): Unsupported method while parsing expression: InvokeExpression{[null].DATE(Literal{2010-3-16})} The same query works when I use it on the admin console. But it does not work for code (java), either locally or when deployed. Any ideas?

  • Will an Nginx as reverse proxy for Apache help on dynamic content only

    I am planning to move all my static content to a CDN so on my server I only have dynamic content left. I now have Nginx set up as reverse proxy to Apache. The static request that came in where directly delivered by Nginx without having to go to Apache. In this case Nginx handled a large portion of the request and I can clearly see the necessity of Nginx. Now that I moved all the static content to another domain, is there still a need to have nginx in front of Apache. Because now all the request are by default dynamic requests and all go to Apache. Are there any other benefits of having Nginx and Apache running for only dynamic content. My dynamic content is PHP/MySQL Edit: To be clear: I now have Nginx as a reverse proxy. It delivers static and dynamic content. But I am moving my static files to a CDN. Do I then still need Nginx on my domain.
