  • How to represent datetime of different time zomes in C#

    I have a .NET WebService (written in C#), that is supposed to serve people around the world. With each request I get the user's datetime in his own time zone with the format : yyyy/MM/dd HH:mm ZZZZ. I have to convert the string to something representing the original date and time and specifying the time zone in GMT. I have to make some logical calculations and keep it in the database. The regular DateTime doe's not support this. it does not have a property specifying the time zone. When I try to convert my string into DateTime - it simply converts it to my local time. I do not want to keep my time in UTC, because I have some logic that has to run per user by his own time. Does anyone know a C# class that handles this?

    SQL Server 2008 R2 Here is a simplified example: EXECUTE sp_executesql N'PRINT ''1st '' + convert(varchar, getdate(), 126) WAITFOR DELAY ''000:00:10''' EXECUTE sp_executesql N'PRINT ''2nd '' + convert(varchar, getdate(), 126)' The first statement will print the date and delay 10 seconds before proceeding. The second statement should print immediately. The way T-SQL works, the 2nd statement won't be evaluated until the first completes. If I copy and paste it to a new query window, it will execute immediately. The issue is that I have other, more complex things going on, with variables that need to be passed to both procedures. What I am trying to do is: Get a record Lock it for a period of time while it is locked, execute some other statements against this record and the table itself Perhaps there is a way to dynamically create a couple of jobs? Anyway, I am looking for a simple way to do this without having to manually PRINT statements and copy/paste to another session. Is there a way to EXEC without wait / in parallel?

  • Trouble converting string/character to byte in lisp

    I've some data that I'm reading in using read-line and I want to convert it into a byte-array. babel:string-to-octet works for the most part except when the character\byte is larger (above 200) in which case it returns two numbers. As an example, if the character is ú using babel:string-to-octet returns (195 185) instead of 250 which is what I'm looking for. I tried a number of encodings in babel but none of them seem to work. If I use read-byte or read-sequence it does read in 250. But for reasons of backward compatibility, I'm left with using read-line and I would like to know if there is something I'm missing when using babel:string-to-octet to convert ú to 250. I'm using ccl 1.8 btw.

    I am trying to do the following in Delphi 2010: TDataConverter = class abstract public function Convert<T>(const AData: T): string; virtual; abstract; end; However, I keep getting the following compiler error: E2533 Virtual, dynamic and message methods cannot have type parameters I don't quite understand the reason why I can't do this. I can do this in C# e.g. public abstract class DataConverter { public abstract string Convert<T>(T data); } Anyone know the reasoning behind this?

    This one has me stumped, despite the numerous posts on here. The scenario is a basic MVC(2) web application with simple CRUD operations. Whenever the edit form is submitted and the UpdateModel() called, an exception is thrown: System.Data.Linq.ForeignKeyReferenceAlreadyHasValueException was unhandled by user code This occurs against a DropDownList value which is a foreign key on the entity table. However, there is another DropDownList list on the form, representing another foreign key, which does not throw the error (unsurprisingly). Changing the property values manually inside the Edit Action: Recipe recipe = repository.GetRecipe(int.Parse(formValues["recipeid"])); recipe.CategoryId = Convert.ToInt32(formValues["CategoryId"].ToString()); recipe.Page = int.Parse(formValues["Page"].ToString()); recipe.PublicationId=Convert.ToInt32(formValues["PublicationId"].ToString()); Allows the CategoryId and Page properties to be updated, and then the error is thrown on the PublicationId. All of the referential integrity is checked an the same in the db and the dbml. Any light shed on this would be most welcome.

    I have a lot of code in a class library that does not specify CultureInfo.InvariantCulture. For example in toString operations, toBool, toInt, etc. Is there a way I can get set a property for the class library to always execute using CultureInfo.InvariantCulture, even if it is not explicitly specified everywhere in the code? Sort of like a global switch? It is not only messy to have to explicitly type it everytime, it makes my code less readable, and is a royal pain for example: if (Convert.ToInt16(task.RetryCount, CultureInfo.InvariantCulture) < Convert.ToInt16(ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["TasksMaxRetry"], CultureInfo.InvariantCulture))

So, now bcz of unsupported image in ImageIO, so i thought why don't I give other way to use it , by converting Unsupported images. So, is their any open-source image converter in java or is there any website or any tool , through which I can connect with my java application and then that tool or website convert my jpg image to jpg or png image and then store that image on some place. So that if their any image unsupported in ImageIO then also i can store that image by converting it. This whole process should be done automatically means user should not have to open that website or tool and convert it manually.

  • Converting a company from SVN to Hg?

    We're a heavy user of SVN here. While the advantages of GIT over SVN made us want to change, the advantages of Hg over SVN mean it's now time to change and we need to start doing so very soon. I'm not so worried on the client side, but here are my questions. There are some excellent books on setting file metaproperties, properly organizing projects, etc on SVN. What is that book(s) for Hg? Is there a way to convert an SVN repository (that you've used) and can report how well it went? We don't want to lose years of commit logs if possible. When you DO convert, how did you split up the old code? Did you commit trunk as one project, and tags/forks as another? If you used SVN for legacy work, did you check in updates to SVN or something else?

  • SQL Query, return value from table with no join

    I'm hoping for an idea on the best way to approach what I'm trying to do. I have a table with a list of transactions. Each transactions has a PostDate in DateTime format. I have another table holding the fiscal period values. This table has the following columns; FiscalYear, FiscalMonth, StartDate, EndDate. I'm trying to write a query that will return all values from my transactions table, along with the FiscalYear and FiscalMonth of the PostDate. So I guess I'm just trying to return the FiscalYear and FiscalMonth values when the PostDate falls between the StartDate and EndDate. I've tried using a Subbuery, but I have little experience with them and kept returning an error message that the subquery was returning more than 1 value.   • Occasional conversion error using SUM function

    My app uses sql2000 and a select statement it uses will sometimes fail. Once a week or so the select returns the error 'Error Converting data type varchar to numeric' SQL: sum(case when ISNULL(form_prsn_id, -1) = irpd_prsn_id then convert(dec(11,2), case when valu_value = '' then '0' else isnull (valu_value,'0') end)* case when fmdt_deduction_flag = 'Y' then -1 else 1 end else 0 end) as client_sum The valu_value field is a varchar and stores some numeric and some varchar. But including my join and where clause filter it will always select numeric or empty string. When it is failing I can remove the SUM, see the data and know that its numeric. So why would the SUM function sometimes (say 5% of time) fail on data that is numeric. I wonder if SQL somehow "looks ahead" to ensure it could convert to decimal on more than just the rows returned without the sum. Note I have discovered a fix where I include ( where isNumeric(valu_value) = 1 ) Thanks

    Hello- I am a newbie in Bash and I am doing some string manipulation. I have the following file among other files in my directory: jdk-6u20-solaris-i586.sh I am doing the following to get jdk-6u20 in my script: myvar=`ls -la | awk '{print $9}' | egrep "i586" | cut -c1-8` echo $myvar but now I want to convert jdk-6u20 to jdk1.6.0_20. I can't seem to figure out how to do it. It must be as generic as possible. For example if I had jdk-6u25, I should be able to convert it at the same way to jdk1.6.0_25 so on and so forth Any suggestions?

    Honestly, I couldnt think of a better title for this issue because I am having 2 problems and I don't know the cause. The first problem I have is this //global declaration float g_posX = 0.0f; ............. //if keydown happens g_posX += 0.03f; &m_mtxView._41 = g_posX; I get this error cannot convert from 'float' to 'float *' So I assume that the matrix only accepts pointers. So i change the varible to this.... //global declaration float *g_posX = 0.0f; ............. //if keydown happens g_posX += 0.03f; &m_mtxView._41 = &g_posX; and I get this error cannot convert from 'float' to 'float *' which is pretty much saying that I can not declare g_posX as a pointer. honestly, I don't know what to do.

Isn't the projection coordinates already independent of output device?We only need to first scale and then translate the projection coordinate then we will get device coordinate.     Hello, In a attempt to put some more oop in a program i am looking to make a private instance variable in one class (object) accesable to a class. private byte [][] J; All those code refers to this jagged array with this. Now in the other class i putted all the for loops along with the consolewritlines to display the wanted results. Basicly it says "the name J does not exist in the current context" But how exactly do i make this J accesable? I have tried with get and set but i keep getting 'cannot convert to byte to byte[][]' Also what kind of cyntax would i need with get and set? Something along like this? Now there is three columns in the datatable Marks1,Marks2 and FinalMarks. And their types is decimal. Now for making addition of columns Marks1 and Marks2 's records and store it into FinalMarks column,For that what I do is : datatableResult.Columns["FinalMarks"].Expression="Marks1+Marks2"; It's works properly. It can be done in other way also is foreach (DataRow r in datatableResult.Rows) { r["FinalMarks"]=Convert.ToDecimal(r["Marks1"])+Convert.ToDecimal(r["Marks2"]); } Is first approach same as second approach in background means is both approach same or what? EDIT: I want to know that first approach works in background as second approach.
