  • How can I force a Word plugin to be re-enabled after being automatically disabled?

    I have been developing a plugin for MS Word (2007) and recently it was causing some crashes on exit and I guess Word automatically disabled it. I went into Word Options under COM Add-ins and checked the box to re-enable it, but when I click okay and then open Word again it's still shown as disabled. I tried looking for something in the registry for this but I wasn't able to find anything. Is there some file or registry key that contains the enabled/disabled status of plugins?

    Blackberry has an enterprise server that works with MS Exchange, and pushes all updates to the user's blackberry devices. We are considering switching to Android phones, which supposedly support Exchange servers. Will there be a similar program for Android? Are there any configuration changes that have to be done on Exchange server? (Exchange is behind the corp firewall).

    Intellitype Pro is a nice software that helps me when I'm using my Ms keyboard. When I'm on the road using my laptop's built-in keyboard it interprets some of the keys incorrectly and reacts on them, for instance the Fn + Down Arrow opens Windows Live Messenger (in addition to lowering brightness, which is governed by Dell's driver). I want to stop Intellitype when I'm on the road and reload it when I'm home using the external keyboard. Note: original problem (conflict with itype) posted here.

  • Unable to get anything except 403 from a .Net 4.5 website

    Scenario: Clean Server 2008 R2 Install with IIS Role. Installed Framework 3.5 (Server Features) Installed Framework 4.5 RC (MS Download) executed C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319>aspnet_regiis.exe -i (I'd use -iru on existing servers but this is a clean build). Published via File System (SMB share) Converted the folder into an application using the .Net 4.0 Integrated App Pool Stopped/restarted everything. Browsing to localhost/TestApp results in a 403.14 (Directory browsing forbidden) What step have I missed out? The site in question is MVC4 and targets the 4.5 RC framework

I've server with eth0 (external interface) and eth1(internal interface). eth1 is merged into the bridge br0 (172.16.1.1) I've installed the pptp and successfully configured it, so I got ppp0 interface (192.168.91.1) and got my VPN clients successfully connected.   • MMC not starting on Window Server 2003

    I have Window 2003 server with AD installed. The file server is used to share the folder across network. However after 1 hour suddenly I can't access my share - it asks me the password and then when I enter it it does not allow me, and say access denied. When I try to open mmc.exe on server it says: The application has failed to start because MS.dll was not loaded How can I fix this problem? Can I re-install MMC?

    I'm trying to open two PowerPoint 2007 documents, and they are open, but they're STUCK in the same window. I can't look at both presentations simultaneously, which is what I want to do. I want to open each presentation in ITS OWN, SEPARATE WINDOW, like in MS-Word how you can have two documents open and they'd be in two separate, draggable windows. I want OUT of the MDI and just have two completely separate windows! How?

    I prefer ufw to iptables for configuring my software firewall. After reading about this vulnerability also on askubuntu, I decided to block the fixed IP of the control server: 212.7.208.65. I don't think I'm vulnerable to this particular worm (and understand the IP could easily change), but wanted to answer this particular comment about how you would configure a firewall to block it. I planned on using: # sudo ufw deny to 212.7.208.65 # sudo ufw deny from 212.7.208.65 However as a test that the rules were working, I tried pinging after I setup the rules and saw that my default ufw settings let ICMP through even from an IP address set to REJECT or DENY. # ping 212.7.208.65 PING 212.7.208.65 (212.7.208.65) 56(84) bytes of data. 64 bytes from 212.7.208.65: icmp_seq=1 ttl=52 time=79.6 ms ^C --- 212.7.208.65 ping statistics --- 1 packets transmitted, 1 received, 0% packet loss, time 0ms rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 79.630/79.630/79.630/0.000 ms Now, I'm worried that my ICMP settings are too generous (conceivably this or a future worm could setup an ICMP tunnel to bypass my firewall rules).   • Getting Squid to authenticate with kerberos and Windows 2008/2003/7/XP

    This is something I setup recently and was quite a big pain. My environment was getting squid to authenticate a Windows 7 client against a Windows 2008 Server invisibly. NTLM is not really an option, as using it requires a registry change on each client. MS have been recommending Kerberos since Windows 2000, so it's finally time to get with the program. Many, many thanks to Markus Moeller of the Squid mailing lists for helping to get this working.

  • Microsoft Word files have weird icons suddenly?

    All of a sudden, my Microsoft Office files have the generic file icon, and it happens with Powerpoint and Word, but not Excel. I can open the files just fine, and I tried restarting my computer, creating new files, clicking F5 on the desktop, turning off my Windows XP theme patcher, and none of them worked, any ideas? EDIT: I've also noticed that it happened to the following programs: Windows Live Messenger, iTunes, and Skype, so not just MS Office. Yet, some are still fine like IE, Paint, GIMP, Paint.NET, a few web browsers, etc.

  • Thesaurus software needed for Windows XP

    Can anyone recommend (free) Thesaurus software for Windows XP (that isn't WordWeb)? It has to work with British English. I want to install standalone software that gives me easy access (right click, keyboard shortcut or something) to alternatives to the selected word when I'm writing, whether it's an email, a text doc in notepad, on an internet forum or whatever. I've tried WordWeb but found it pretty horrible - I want something that acts more like the Thesaurus in MS Word, giving a dozen or so decent alternatives to the selected word.
