  • Can't use a network CD-ROM

    Hi, there! I have a computer with Windows XP and I'm trying to use my local network to use the CD-ROM of my notebook with Windows 7. In windows XP computer with VLC I can open the menu of the DVD but after choose the option for the first chapter the movie window shuts down (but the VLC stays open). With BS-Player when trying to start the first chapter it freezes... Is this possible to fix? Thanks in advance!

  • Setting up central git repo on local Mac network

    We are a team of three, all working on our local machines on the same internal network. We will all be working on websites in local working copies of the same Git repo hosted on Github. We have an internal staging machine here (dev.internal), and I am looking for a way for us to be able to push to this machine. At each milestone in the development cycle. In essence, all I really want us to be able to do is add the dev.internal machine as a remote, and push to this whenever we are ready. Could somebody please point me in the right direction to get this set up?

  • My wireless network slows down every 7.5 minutes when my desktop is switched on

    My network has lag spikes lasting for a few seconds every 7.5 mins. The spikes also effect any other computer connected connected to my wirless router at the time. My wife has to connect her laptop via a cable to prevent the lag causing problems when she's VPNing into her work. If I switch my PC off the problem goes away! I've got an Edimax 7728ln 802.11n wireless card and Speedtouch 585v7 (I'm with Be) I've Tried... Updated the drivers from Edimax website: 2.0.3.0 (it does say 3.0.2.0 in devices properties though) WLAN Optimizer doesn't seem to be helping What can I do?

  • Network randomly drops

    I have a VPS, ubuntu server 12.04 and for unknown reasons the network connection drops and I have to access my vps via the console and ifdown eth0 and ifup eth0. This brings the connection back up from about a few seconds to a few hours. I have run tail -F /var/log/syslog to monitor the log to see what happens at the point of drop and there is nothing unusual. The vps is running under virt-manager and the hardware is set to virtio. I have had linux friends look at my vps and they are unsure of what is the cause.

    I need to organize a virtual network for practice with Windows Server 2008 and several workstations with Windows OS. To make it all I only have a laptop with Dual-Core 2.10Ghz, 3 GB RAM, 50 GB free space and Windows 7 on it. Also I have external USB 3.0 hard-drive with 250GB free space and flash disk with 8GB space. What can you suggest? Because I have limited resources, I think to install ESXi 5.1 on the main disk of my laptop as second OS, with installed Windows 7. I have no idea will it work or not, but after that I want to try to create hosts using availible space on external hard-drive. Is it possible?

    I`m trying to figure out a way to remote into both my servers on the same network. I have a 2008 r2 and a server 2003. Right now i can remote into my server 2003 but I dont know what IP to use for the 2k8 server. They seem to have the same public im. Both servers are behind a fire wall (sonic wall tz170) I rememeber having to to something on the firewall to get into the 2k3 server but forgot what I did... Can anyone give some advice thanks

    I want to setup a network on a building to provide shared services to all homes within the building. This should work as follows: Each home has a private LAN (e.g. 192.168.0.x) and an ADSL router for Internet access. Private LANs from each home should not "see" each other. There will be a shared server on the building which must be accessible from every home. I am not sure what is the best way to achieve this. Can someone point in the right direction? Thanks.

  • How can I connect my Xbox to my Mac on my network

    I have a wireless router/modem (Router 1) in my living room. This is connected to the internet (cable). Wireless is disabled as the router has a terrible wireless range. My Xbox is connected via ethernet to Router 1. Another LAN output from Router 1 connects to a powerline adapter. Router 1 acts as a DHCP server on 192.168.0.x and has the IP 192.168.0.1 In a second room I have Router 2. This has the powerline feed from Router 1 going into the WAN socket. This router runs the Tomato Firmware and acts as a wireless router for the rest of the house using the IP range 192.168.1.x. Router 2 IP is 192.168.1.1. My Mac is connected to Router 2 using a LAN cable and has the IP 192.168.0.133. Several mobile devices need wireless access. I want an ethernet connection to my Mac, not wireless. I should be able to use software like Connect360 to share media from my Mac to the XBox but the XBox does not see my Mac. I can ping 192.168.0.1 from the Mac. Is this possible using my current setup? If so, how?

  • Network Sharing Issues

    I have two computers I want to have on a network share together (so the laptop can print through the desktop's printer). These are both connected to the same router. (One wired and one wireless) And they both have the same workgroup name. However, when I type "net view" in the command prompt, the only computer that shows up is the computer I type the command into. How do I get these computers to be shared with each other? Update: The tower is running Windows XP, the Laptop is running Windows 7. I have disabled the Firewall on both until I get this set up. Update 2: Typing the command net view on my desktop is acting very strangely. Noe sometimes it only shows itself on the list of computers, sometimes it shows itself and the laptop and sometimes it doesn't work at all and displays system error 6118. I typed net view into the command prompt on the Windows 7 laptop and both computers showed up, so I went to connect to the desktop from the laptop and it said the dekptop could not be found, even though it is showing up int he list of shared computers.     the context i use Spooler Events API to capture events generated by the spooler when a user prints a document ie. FindFirstPrinterChangeNotification FindNextPrinterChangeNotification the problem When I print a document on the network printers from my machine no events are captured by the monitor (uses the fuctions above) Notice Events ARE generated OK for local printers, only Network Printers are problematic!

  • SHBrowseForFolder doesn't work for network selection in win7

    Hi, I use SHBrowseForFolder in my code. It works well in XP. But I find it dose not run well in Windows 7 with the same code. When I click a network, it does nothing. But it can expand in XP. By the way, I have the permission to access the network of another computer and I try accessing the resource with explorer, it's OK! Can anyone tell me how to fix this problem? Thanks in advance!

We thought the reason is due to amazon throttling the network connections over a limit. So, we tried to establish a connection after a random delay from each slave node. But, that didn't help.     Hello. I am trying to get a list of local network computers. I tried to use NetServerEnum and WNetOpenEnum API, but both API return error code 6118 (ERROR_NO_BROWSER_SERVERS_FOUND). Active Directory in the local network is not used. Most odd Windows Explorer shows all local computers without any problems. Are there other ways to get a list of computers in the LAN?

What is the best technology solution for that? I was thinking of going Rails route, using CommunityEngine and ActiveMerchant.   • Network.downloadfile is very slow

    I have tried using the My.Computer.Network.DownloadFile method but unfortunately it is slow. Executing the simple command below takes ~5-10 secs, which I would say is a lot longer than expected for downloading a 9 kb file. `My.Computer.Network.DownloadFile("http://www.google.dk", "j:\temp\test.html")` I am connecting via a high-speed connection (10GB) from a Win7 machine. Do anyone know of any explanations for this behavior? Hope that you can help me out with this. Kristoffer
