• Is it possible to use re2 from Python?

  i just discovered http://code.google.com/p/re2, a promising library that uses a long-neglected way (Thompson NFA) to implement a regular expression engine that can be orders of magnitudes faster than the available engines of awk, Perl, or Python. so i downloaded the code and did the usual sudo make install thing. however, that action had seemingly done little more than adding /usr/local/include/re2/re2.h to my system. there seemed to be some `*.a file in addition, but then what is it with this *.a extension? i would like to use re2 from Python (preferrably Python 3.1) and was excited to see files like make_unicode_groups.py in the distro (maybe just used during the build process?). those however were not deployed on my machine. how can i use re2 from Python?

• Error with swig: undefined symbol: _ZN7hosters11hostersLink7getLinkEi

  I'm trying to make a python binding for the this library: http://code.google.com/p/hosterslib/. I'm using swig, heres is the code: %module pyhosters %{ include "hosters/hosters.hpp" %} %include "hosters/hosters.hpp" I run "swig -c++ -python -o swig_wrap.cxx swig.i" and I compile with "g++ -O2 -fPIC -shared -o _pyhosters.so swig_wrap.cxx python-config --libs --cflags -lhosters -lcln -lhtmlcxx pkg-config libglog --libs --cflags -I/usr/include/python2.6 -Wall -Wextra" But when I run python and I import it, I get: import pyhosters Traceback (most recent call last): File "", line 1, in File "./pyhosters.py", line 7, in import _pyhosters ImportError: ./_pyhosters.so: undefined symbol: _ZN7hosters11hostersLink7getLinkEi How can I solve that? • Django and mod_python intermittent error?

  I have a Django site at http://sm.rutgers.edu/relive/af_api/index/. It is supposed to display "Home of the relive APIs". If you refresh this page many times, you can see different renderings. 1) The expected page. 2) Django "It worked!" page. 3) "ImportError at /index/" page. If you scroll down enough to ROOT_URLCONF part, you will see it says 'relive.urls'. But apparently, it should be 'af_api.urls', which is in my settings.py file. Since these results happen randomly, is it possible that either Django or mod_python is working unstably?

• Integer output in Java method not same as pre-converted char value.

  I'm trying to parse a simple text file in an integer method and then output an integer from such file so that other parts of the program can use it. For testing purposes it also displays the character value (9 in this case). The integer value for some reason is 57. I've also tried it with another part of the text file (which in that case should be 5, but is instead 53). After looking at an ASCII chart, I see that 57 is the ASCII version of the "symbol" 9 and that 53 is the ASCII version of the "symbol" 5. Is there any simple way I can fix this? I'm getting kind of frustrated as I'm a Java newbie (I've mostly only used FreePascal before this).

• Using jep.invoke() method

  Hi, I need to call a function from a python script and pass in parameters into it. I have a test python script which I can call and run from java using Jepp - this then adds the person. Eg Test.py import Finding from Finding import * f = Finding() f.addFinding("John", "Doe", 27) Within my Finding class I have addFinding(firstname, lastName, age) However, I wish to be able to do this from within java. Should I be using the jep.invoke() method. Does anyone have a hello world example of such a thing being done or forward me to some good examples? Does anyone have any suggestions please?   Hi people, I'm in final year of my degree and it is required that i do a final year project. I have decided to do something on adaptive websites that implements customisation, personalisation and basically adaptation via heat maps and weblogs. So for a prototype i would be designing a website for tertairy level students and see if these technologies improve the usbability of the site. i would model it after my school's website. So here's the question, What would be a better language to use.. i have some knowledge in struts 2 framework and some knowledge in php. could say a newbie at both.. so i was wondering what would be the easier and faster way to go. php or the struts2 framework? thanks.

  I'm pretty much a newbie at php (at the "install an app and try to tweak it a bit" stage). Is there a tool anywhere which can take a script which is spread over many files and show you all the code which is processed (for a given set of arguments passed to the script) in a single output? For example, I want to make a call to zen cart from a script in a different language, which returns a category listing without any surrounding page. So I want to be able to trace what the actual process is to generate that then strip off all the unwanted bits to create a custom script.

• ajax/jquery disables links after submit

  i am working on this form. i am using lightbox and dhtml fade effects. the content in my lightbox is a form. i am using jquery to validate the form. once the form is submitted, i redirect a user back to a thank you page. what i am noticing is that, once all the above events has taken place, i cannot click anywhere on my screen, all the links/buttons are sort of disable. i need to press F5 to refresh the page to be able to click anywhere on the page again? is this happening because i am using jquery validation and an events already took place, how do i resolve this as i am a newbie to jquery. thanks

  Hello everyone. I am using wxPython and Py2exe to create my application and my only problem is loading for example bitmaps. Ok so lets say I want to add an image to my application, and thats fairly easy using wxPython, and lets say it is on the same directory of my .py so for example: image = wx.StaticBitmap(self, -1, wx.Bitmap('image.bmp') Now, this works obviously fine, problem is when I convert to Py2exe, I would like to use the resources from the dlls that I included in the Py2Exe compilation. So basically what I want to do is to instead of including the images on the same folder as my application in order to work, I would like to use it from the resources so people won't see the images on the folder.

• Another question about ASP.NET MVC and a separate project for helper classes

  I know this topic has been discussed to death, but there is one thing that I can't wrap my head around. I'm working on a Web Application using ASP.NET MVC and I come across a scenario where I need a helper class (this usually happens in the early stages of development. So I go ahead and create a helper project in my solution that I use to manage all of my Helper Classes. Now, do I have to build that project and dump the dll in the bin directory every time I make changes to is, or is there a way to have the main web application reference the classes contained within the separate project without the separate build process? I'm just looking for the easiest way to add helper classes without the hastel of building and moving the dll every time I make a change or addition. Also, sorry for the very newbie-esque question here. All of the web apps I've build in the past have all been in the same project (web forms, App_Code, etc).

• Asp.net Site on GoDaddy Loads Slowly

  I just published a very small site to GoDaddy that I programmed in Microsoft Visual Web Developer 2008. The site only contains 6 sheets, none of which are data intensive. Each has a few small images that serve mostly to navigate to the other sheets. There is no data, no SQL, nothing like that. There is one master page that governs the page layout for all of the pages. Everything works fine, for the most part. I am posting because the site loads quite slowly, particularly considering how little content is being loaded. Can anybody give me any advice about what I should look at to speed this thing up a little bit? Is this an asp.net issue? Use of master pages? Godaddy? Something else? I'm a newbie, so speak slowly. • converting a treebank of vertical trees to s-expressions

  I need to preprocess a treebank corpus of sentences with parse trees. The input format is a vertical representation of trees, like so: S =NP ==(DT +def) the == (N +ani) man =VP ==V walks ...and I need it like: (S (NP (DT the) (N man)) (VP (V walks))) I have code that almost does it, but not quite. There's always a missing paren somewhere. Should I use a proper parser, maybe a CFG? • Problem with displaying graphs on a Qt canvas

  Let's say I'm a Qt newbie. I want a good Qt library for displaying simple graphs. I've found the quanava library. But there is a problem. When I compiled a basic example it looks like graph edges are not painted properly when moving nodes. I don't have any idea where is a bug but this code seems to be rather simple. I think this is a problem with paint method in NodeItem class. Maybe someone has already solved this problem because this library is quite popular.

• Django Admin: Many-to-Many listbox doesn't show up with a through parameter

  Hi All, I have the following models: class Message(models.Model): date = models.DateTimeField() user = models.ForeignKey(User) thread = models.ForeignKey('self', blank=True, null=True) ... class Forum(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=24) messages = models.ManyToManyField(Message, through="Message_forum", blank=True, null=True) ... class Message_forum(models.Model): message = models.ForeignKey(Message) forum = models.ForeignKey(Forum) status = models.IntegerField() position = models.IntegerField(blank=True, null=True) tags = models.ManyToManyField(Tag, blank=True, null=True) In the admin site, when I go to add/change a forum, I don't see the messages listbox as you'd expect. However, it shows up if I remove the 'through' parameter in the ManyToManyField declaration. What's up with that? I've registered all three models (plus Tag) to the admin site in admin.py. TIA

I have narrowed it all down to the fact that my signature-generation code has an error of some sort; what it is I have no idea.
