  • Android Set ImageButton as Toggle

    - by GuyNoir
How can I have an imagebutton stay in the 'pressed' state when it is clicked? Basically I just want the background to be the depressed background, but I can't figure out how to set it. At the moment, I've just copied the selected button background into my res folder, but when I set it as the background, it becomes blurry (since the original image is bigger than the button itself). Normal Background: What I'm getting:

  • Variable width columns in a table

    - by Jack
I'm using an HTML table for a calendar and I want to fill the cells with various events from my database. Usually they will land on weekends but some will run for long weekend, bank holidays or even the odd week day. How can I get my tables columns to expand and shrink accordingly. I'd like to avoid the use of javascript if possible. If this can't be done I'm going to need a tutorial to help me get my head around how to make div's positioning behave. cheers

  • css anchor div to foot of page

    - by foxed
I may bounce my head off the wall shortly, I can't believe that something as stupid as this has utterly defeated me ... therefore I turn to you, Stack Overflow ... for guidance and enlightenment. Problem: Sit div at foot of page, 100% width, outside of any sort of wrapper. Proposed Solution: http://ryanfait.com/sticky-footer/ Implementation with content: http://www.weleasewodewick.com/redesign/index_content.html Implementation with no content: http://www.weleasewodewick.com/redesign/index.html with content - Good, works nicely no content = bad, footer sits exactly height of footer below the viewport. I really would appreciate your input into this, it's completely vexed me for the past hour. I wholly expect some form of ridicule :) Thanks! Foxed

  • DIV tags not being properly nested.

    - by chustar
I have created some <div> tags and am setting it to contain two <div> tags that are floated to both sides of the <div>. I noticed when I tried to set a background color that the containing <div> was not properly wrapping around the <div>s that its supposed to contain. I would like to know why this happens. I have seen a similar question here http://stackoverflow.com/questions/611220/why-are-these-div-tags-not-nesting-properly but no one has explained why this happens in any of the answers.

  • Why is the dropdown menu aligned to the left?

    - by fmz
    I am working on a dropdown navigation for a site and am having some trouble with the dropdown portion aligning with the parent category - it shifts all the way to the left. Here is the html: <ul class="dropdown"> <li><a href="#" id="home">Home</a></li> <li><a href="#" id="about">About Us</a> <ul class="sub-menu"> <li><a href="#">Our History</a></li> <li><a href="#">Our Process</a></li> <li><a href="#">Portfolio</a></li> <li><a href="#">Financing</a></li> <li><a href="#">Testimonials</a></li> <li><a href="#">Subcontractors</a></li> </ul> </li> <li><a href="#" id="personal">Personal Banking</a></li> <li><a href="#" id="commercial">Commercial Banking</a></li> <li><a href="#" id="service">Customer Service</a> <ul class="sub-menu"> <li><a href="#">Our History</a></li> <li><a href="#">Our Process</a></li> <li><a href="#">Portfolio</a></li> <li><a href="#">Financing</a></li> <li><a href="#">Testimonials</a></li> <li><a href="#">Subcontractors</a></li> </ul> </li> <li><a href="#" id="investors">Investor Relations</a></li> <li><a href="#" id="contact">Contact Us</a></li> </ul> Here is the CSS: ul.dropdown { position: relative; background: #4e8997; height: 40px; padding-left: 5px; } ul.dropdown li { float: left; zoom: 1; } ul.dropdown li a { display: block; margin-top: 5px; padding: .5em .6em; color: #fff; font: bold 14px "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, Geneva, sans-serif; text-transform: uppercase; border: none; } ul.dropdown a:hover { background-color: #c29c5d; color: #fff; } ul.dropdown a:active { background-color: #c29c5d; color: #fff; } /* LEVEL TWO */ ul.dropdown ul { width: 200px; visibility: hidden; position: absolute; top:100%; left: 0; } ul.dropdown ul li { font: 13px "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, Geneva, sans-serif; border-bottom: 1px solid #ccc; float: none; color: #fff; background-color: #c29c5d; height: 20px; } ul.dropdown ul li a { display: inline-block; } ul.dropdown ul li a:hover { background-color: #a2834d; color: #fff; height: 20px; } I tried changing the ul.dropdown ul to position relative, but that breaks the navigation. I would appreciate some help getting this corrected. Thanks.

  • wrapping the content of a span inside an li so it stays in its own column

    - by codergeek
hello, I have a list, each li in it has this structure: <li> <img class="yes" src="..."> <img class="no" src="..."> <span class="a">...</span> <span class="b">...</span> </li> now if the content of class b is long, it will wrap around the image. I don't want it to wrap under the image, I want it to stay in its own column. If there is anyway to do this, please let me know as using tables to do it will be just wrong. Thanks! Nima

  • Is there a declarative way to force a set of Buttons to be the same size?

    - by Jekke
I'm writing a form in XAML that has multiple buttons with content of different sizes (ie "OK" and "Save As...") Ideally, I'd like them all to be the smallest size possible to hold the largest content. In the example above, both buttons would be the width necessary to hold "Save As..." plus the margins and padding. If they were Grid cells, I could use a SizeGroup. Is there a similar declaration for Buttons?

  • Are fluid websites worth making anymore?

    - by Adam
Hey guys, I'm making a website now and I am trying to decide if I should make it fluid or not. Fixed width websites are much easier to make and also much easier to make them appear consistent. To be honest though, I personally prefer looking at fluid websites that stretch to the full width of my monitor. My question comes from the fact that in most modern browsers you can hold control and scroll your mouse wheel to basically resize any website. So is creating a fluid website worth the trouble?

  • How to make parts of a div element resize automatically?

    - by vladimir
I'm trying to create a small html fragment (a div element) consisted of three parts: a label, textbox, and a button. Within that div element the label would be on the left (autosized), the button would be on the right (again, autosized) and the textbox should take up all remaining space within the parent div element. This is what I've tried (assuming I want my div to be 400 pixels wide): <div style="width:400px"> <div style="float: left">Label</div> <input style="width:100%"> <!-- doesn't work --> <button type='button' style='float: right'>Click</button> </div> The trouble is, my textbox does not get resized automatically. Add 'width=100%' to the textbox doesn't work. What would be the way to make it take up all remaining space between the label and the button? Ideally it should be done just by applying some styles, not by introducing new elements. (I guess the issue isn't related only to div element, but that just happens to be my work scenario.)

  • Filling a screen width

    - by lorna
I'm really struggling to tidy up a web site I am building for someone. I've spent hours on trying to figure this out! I have limited knowledge so the code would be helpful. They want the section at the top (originally two images, now I'm trying background images and css) to fill the width of the browser- no matter what size it is. Does anyone know how to do this? Similarly, is there a setting to get text to fill 100% width of the box, no matter what? I would seriously appreciate even someone helping me move on a step! they want everything to sit tight and inline, in some browsers/screens it does but on mine it spreads out with lots of white space. www.thegees.co.uk is the site.

  • Pointing layout_above to an external ID?

    - by Joren
When I try to use layout_above to position a view above another view, it can't find the ID if it's not in the same XML file. I'm adding my XML files at run time but I still want to be able to position them relative to eachother. Any suggestions?

  • How to force div to appear below not next to another?

    - by Vafello
I would like to place my div below the list, but actually it is placed next to the list. The list is generated dynamically, so it doesn't have a fixed hight. I would like to have the map div on the right, and on the left (next to the map) the list placed on top and the second div below the list. #map { float:left; width:700px; height:500px; } #list { float:left; width:200px; background:#eee; list-style:none; padding:0; } #similar { float:left; width:200px; background:#000; } <div id="map"></div> <ul id="list"></ul> <div id ="similar"> this text should be below, not next to ul. </div> Any ideas?

  • div content margin pushing container

    - by jef2904
Hi, Im running into an issue that's really baffleing me. I have a container that I want to apply a background to an postion it in the top right of the browser screen. The div inside has a top margin of 4em and this is pushing the container div here is the CSS #container { background: transparent url("../images/house-bg.png") top right no-repeat scroll; } #wrapper { background: #FFF; width: 960px; height: 600px; margin: 4em auto 0; border: 10px solid #C3CF21; -moz-border-radius: 20px; -webkit-border-radius: 20px; border-radius: 20px; -moz-box-shadow: 0 0 25px #444; -webkit-box-shadow: 0 0 25px #444; box-shadow: 0 0 25px #444; } and heres the HTML <div id="container"> <div id="wrapper"> <div id="header"> </div> <div id="main"> </div> </div> <div id="footer"> &copy; Copyright <?php echo date("Y");?> Company, Inc. </div> </div> I want the margin of the wrapper to be inside the container div instead of outside. I've tried multiple display properties and position properties to no avail. The only thing that fixes it is inserting an "&nbsp;" before the start of the #wrapper but theres got to be a CSS fix to this. Thanks in Advanced, Jorge

  • Evenly distribute items on the screen

    - by abolotnov
I am trying to solve this little puzzle (the algorithm): I have N image icons and I want to distribute them evenly on users screen. Say, I put them in a table. If there is one image, there will be one cell in a table. If two - one row with two columns, if three - one row and three columns, if four - two rows, two columns... and so on until row space is gone and since then the table should only grow in columns without adding extra rows. I'm trying to figure an algorithm for this and perhaps this is something that has a solution already somewhere? My attempt is so far something like this: obtain_max_rows() obtain_visible_columns() if (number_of_pictures > max_rows*max_columns) { columns = roundup(number_of_pictures/max_rows) for(max_rows){generate row;for columns{generate column}} } else { **here comes to trouble...** } This logic is bit silly though - it somehow needs to think cases where there are 12 pictures on first screen and 2 on the other trying to balance it say 8/6 or somehow like that.

  • Android how to make ImageView with a minWidth have a border?

    - by Kman
I want to diplay an image so that it takes up a minmum width of the screen and should scale in its aspect ratio (the image width might be smaller or larger than the minimun width) I also want to have a fixed size border around this image. This is my xml section for it: <ImageView android:id="@+id/detailed_view_boxArt" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:minWidth="150dp" android:layout_alignParentLeft="true" android:layout_below="@id/detailed_view_heading" android:padding="10dp" android:layout_marginLeft="5dp" android:scaleType="centerInside" android:background="#000"/> This however does not produce what I want...the problem is that it does not scale the image horizontally far enough (ie. the 10px padding that I have seems a lot more on the right and left) How would I produce the result that I want?

  • popup panel that docks to the bottom of the screen

    - by Michael Wiles
How do I create a pop panel that docks to the bottom of the screen... The way that I'm doing this is by setting the styling as such: bottom: 10px; position: absolute; This will always set the panel to 10 px from the bottom of the browser window. The problem is that gwt (or gwtp for that matter) is insisting on setting the right and the top of the panel and thus overriding my styling. If I use chrome's element explorer and disable the right and top style rules I get the correct behaviour so one way of doing it is somehow disabling gwt setting of the location of the panel on the screen...?

  • disable scrolling in an iframe

Is there a way to disable scrolling all together in an iframe? I have an iframe where the content exceeds the iframe dimensions, setting scrolling=no only removes the scrollbars but doesn't disable scrolling. I don't have control over the head of the iframe-html, so I can't style my way out it. Any ideas?

  • CSS/JS: Evenly spreading elements across multiple lines

    - by David Lawson
How would you go about evenly spreading elements across multiple lines, for example: wrapper div: <div style="text-align: center"> elements inside: <div style="display: inline-block; padding-left: 10px; padding-right: 10px;">Element</div> Instead of only having one element on the next line (wrapped): Element 1 Element 2 Element 3 Element 4 Element 5 Element 6 It does this, spreading out the elements: Element 1 Element 2 Element 3 Element 4 Element 5 Element 6
