    I'm trying to suppress output of the date line durinng logging when using the default logger in java.util.logging. For example, here is a typical output: Jun 1, 2010 10:18:12 AM gamma.utility.application info INFO: ping: db-time=2010-06-01 10:18:12.0, local-time=20100601t101812, duration=180000 Jun 1, 2010 10:21:12 AM gamma.utility.application info INFO: ping: db-time=2010-06-01 10:21:12.0, local-time=20100601t102112, duration=180000 I would like to get rid of the Jun 1, 2010... lines, they just clutter my log output. How can I do this?

    A there any g++ options which can detect improper initialization of std::string with NULL const char*? I was in the process of turning some int fields into std::string ones, i.e: struct Foo { int id; Foo() : id(0) {} }; ...turned into: struct Foo { std::string id; Foo() : id(0) {} //oooops! }; I completely overlooked bad 'id' initialization with 0 and g++ gave me no warnings at all. This error was detected in the run time(std::string constructor threw an exception) but I'd really like to detect such stuff in the compile time. Is there any way?

I'm able to get the full URL into a String via ExternalInterface var url:String = ExternalInterface.call("window.location.href.toString"); if (url) testField.text = url; Just unsure as how to manipulate the String to just get the 1234 and 5678 numbers. What I'd like to have is something which works with: Anything that is built up using a list of instances. Including strings, arrays, linked lists I suspect that the solution must use generics as the algorithm is working on a list of instances of T (there T is ... something). Version of C# isn't of interest, I guess the solution will be nicer if features from C# version 2.0 is used.

    In my ASP.NET MVC application, I would like my controller action to render a view to a string, send an email using that string as the body, then do a redirect. I've found several articles here on SO and elsewhere on how to render the view to a string. That part was easy. But when I attempt to perform the redirect, I get an HttpException: Cannot redirect after HTTP headers have been sent. I've tried setting Response.Buffer and Response.BufferOutput to true, I've tried Response.Clear, nothing seems to work. Is it possible to render a view to a string, then do a redirect?

I have a time series (date and value) in 'zoo' format, that I want to annotate with a cross when an event occurs. The events are irregular and in a csv format (just the dates, sometimes repeated). I've managed to read in the dates etc into a format that R accepts - but i cant seem to get a means to chart the main time series with the secondary events annotated on top?

    I have a string 12012009 input by the user in ASP.NET MVC application. I wanted to convert this to a DateTime. But if I do DateTime.TryParse("12012009", out outDateTime); it returns a false. So I tried to convert 12012009 to 12/01/2009 and then do DateTime.TryParse("12/01/2009", out outDateTime); which will work But I don't find any straight forward method to convert string 12012009 to string "12/01/2009". Any ideas?
