• Dell PSU Compatibility: Dell Inspiron 530 (Desktop)

  I have an Inspiron 530 with a stock PSU. I need to upgrade it to meet my video card's needs (AMD HD6770), which demands at least 450W, to potentially fix BSODs with the latest version of the drivers (so claims AMD support). Now, I've heard conflicting reports about whether Dell uses special/proprietary PSUs. (Examples for aye and nay to special PSUs.) How exactly can I determine if a PSU is compatible with my PC, before buying it? I assume I will not be able to return it if it doesn't fit, or makes my computer explode in a fireball of doom.

• Getting back to Dreamweaver CS4?

  My problem is that I want to assign a keyboardshortcut for Dreamweaver CS4 and I have it like this: "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Dreamweaver CS4\Dreamweaver.exe" Thats ok so far. But when I press the key it doesn't place itself infront of everything else like Outlook and Visual Studio does for example, instead it blinks in the taskbar, and I have to click there anyway to get back to Dreamweaver. Is there any switch or something I can assign for Dreamweaver to get back AND have it "popup?"

• MacBook hangs when restarting to Vista through BootCamp

  I have Vista Pro installed on my Macbook and while it mostly works well, sometimes when I select Windows from the boot screen after turning the thing on, the screen just goes black and it all stops. If I hold the power button until it powers down and repeat, it works. It's not getting as far as Windows at all, I think, because if Windows was previously shut down to Hibernate, it still restores fine... and I'm pretty sure if Windows' startup had hung and been force-rebooted my session would be borked?

• Full screen flash lags on Windows 7

  I have been experiencing an issue since I've up upgraded to Windows 7 where all flash videos have horrible frame rates when run in full screen mode. I have tried multiple browsers and i have the latest version of flash and video drivers. I have tried re-installing flash and disabling hardware acceleration. The problem occurs on youtube and hulu. This is a clean install on a Core 2 duo with 4GB RAM and an Nvidia 8400M GS.

  Is there any free HTTP SSL VPN clients around, one that can act as an alternative to Cisco's own HTTP SSL VPN client (called AnyConnect)? The Cisco AnyConnect client has acknowledged problems, with no forthcoming solutions. Which is why I'm hoping for an alternative. Note: I'm only talking about the HTTP SSL VPN Client, not the HTTP SSL VPN Server. (If it were up to me they wouldn't be using Cisco at all, but it's not up to me.) Note: OpenVPN is a client that talks to their servers once you sign up for their service. It's not a generic VPN client. Note: ShrewSoft VPN is a client that uses IPsec and pre-shared keys, and was a good replacement for Cisco's old client - but not the new AnyConnect SSL VPN client. Note: Windows 7's VPN client fails to negotiate when presented with an SSL VPN connection. Note: I am looking for Windows clients only.

  Related to this question, I need to know if the specific combination of Ubuntu 9.10 + the Huawei E170 (HSDPA broadband modem USB stick) will work? Bonus points for a link to a webpage that decsribes exactly how it is done! Specifically, I'm in Austria and the telco is A1, but I hope that the setup would be the same regardless of location/provider. I have found these two pages that seem horribly complicated to a Linux noob. Is there a simpler way, or do I really need to dive into that? Your input is much appreciated! If I can get confirmation that it's supported, then I'd switch to Ubuntu Netbook Remix, because I'm already running Ubuntu on the main pc at home and I'd like to keep things simple.

• Have powershell zip the contents of a bunch of folders, individual zip for each folder

  Recently, I asked how to do this with a .bat file and an answer was provided. for /D %%d in (*.*) do "C:\Program Files\7-Zip\7z\7za.exe" a -tzip %%d.zip %%d However, this proved useful only for folders that have no spaces in their name. The reason being that batch will do the following: if the folder name is "jef's vacation pics", the variables will be: %%d = jef's %%e = vacation %%f = pics And then it tries to pass only %%d to the 7-zip program, which will not find such a folder and therefor will not create a zip file. I've tried looking up some tutorials, documentation sites and such, but I haven't been able to come up with an answer. There may be an answer, but I want to take this opportunity to try my hand at powershell. I was thinking that a function with 1 argument, that being the parent-folder of the sub-folders that need to be zipped, would be the best approach. • Receiving SSL certificate errors only from some clients

  I am receiving SSL certificate errors from Chrome (latest version (23.0.1271.52 beta-m) and Internet Explorer 6 (not used) on my home desktop machine (Windows XP SP2). In Firefox, it works fine on this PC. My laptop and work desktop (both Windows 7) work fine. Most SSL website checking sites report that the certificate and chain up to the root CA are setup correctly, but I have come across 2 that that say I have an invalid certificate but don't give much information on what part is failing. I know it used to work properly on this desktop (in Chrome and IE) in the past, but I'm not sure what has changed that is causing the site to fail in these browsers. • rr.com appended to URL and I don't know why

  I've been having some pretty bad and intermittent internet connectivity issues. I keep getting timeouts on my browsers, or what appears to be timeouts on my browsers. In Chrome it's generally error 21. FF it times out. And so on. While this is happening, I can go into the command line and ping or traceroute the same domain and it works fine. I use my cellphone on the same network and it's fine connecting to the same domain. And when it fails, it's all domains that are down in all browsers, chrome, FF, etc. I also noticed that when I try to connect to 192.168.1.1 it says in chrome did you mean www.192.168.1.1rr.com but when I enter https://192.168.1.1 it's fine. It only seems to do this in Chrome. This is making me think I have a virus. I did some researching about something called road runner, but I can't find any related traces. I also ran a full virus scan using nod32 (eset) and nothing. Any suggestion or help would be greatly appreciated. The intermittent loss of total internet access is really annoying and I'm worried about why it's trying to append the rr.com domain in Chrome. I suspect I'm dealing with two different issues, but you never know. Also for the DNS I'm using Google's DNS servers, the famous 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.8.4

  To speed up my compyuter use I'm trying to use as many hotkeys as possible. But because I'm working in many applications it is really hard to remember all those shortcuts. I'm looking for a program that looks at what application is currently in use by me, and displays a list of possible hotkeys I want to use. Example: I'm writing a document in Word, and the utility program shows a list of hotkeys I could use in Word. With such a program I could learn the shortcut keys much faster. • 3d Studio Max and 2+CPUs - Core limit ?

  Hi guys, I am scouting for parts to put in a new machine, and in the process, while looking at different benchmarks I stumbled upon this benchmark and it got me a bit worried. Quote form it: Noticably absent from this review is an old-time favorite, 3ds Max. I did attempt to run our custom 3ds Max benchmark on both the 2009 and 2010 versions of the software, but the application would simply not load on the Westmere box with hyper-threading enabled. Evidently Autodesk didn't plan far enough ahead to write their software for more than 16 threads. Once there is an update that addresses this issue, I will happily add 3ds Max back into the benchmarking mix. Since I was looking at dual hexa-core Xeons (x5650), that would put my future machine at 24 logical cores which (duh) is well over 16 cores and since I'm mostly building this for 3DS Max work, you can see how this would seriously spoil my plans. I tried looking for additional information on this potential issue, but the above article seems to be the only one who mentions it. Could anyone who has access to a 16 core machine or an in-depth knowledge about 3DS Max please confirm this ? Any help would be much appreciated !

• Unable to Turn On Media Streaming in Windows Media Player 12 on Windows 7

  I have 2 PC installed with Windows 7 and Media Player 12. I would like to use Play To feature on both PC connected via LAN. Both PC (A and B) run media player in standard user account. I able to turn on media streaming option in PC A (with privilege access prompt) without any problem. However, PC B also prompt privilege access but no response after enter administrator password. Both PC follow same configuration steps. I may use "play to" PC A (in standard user account) from other PC without any problem. But I can't "play to" PC B in standard user account. I can only run media player in administrator account for "play to" to function. I have tried uninstall and reinstall media player via "Programs and Features" in control panel on PC B. However, it doesn't work too. Does anyone has similar experience as me failing to turn on media streaming that running Windows media player in standard user account?

I installed Turnkey LAMP via VirtualBox and it seems to be working because I can access the http://localhost. My question is: How do I manipulate files via VirtualBox? For example, if I had installed LAMP on my machine (not on a virtual machine), I could easily add/edit/delete files in the var/WWW folder. • Thunderbird "undo send" feature (like in Gmail)?

  I was wondering if there exists a thunderbird addon that gives similar functionality as Google's "undo send" feature? This basically just delays the sent message for a few seconds allowing the user to cancel the send if desired. I find this very useful in Gmail and would love the option now that I started using thunderbird. I've seen the send later addon, but this isn't really what I want. I want something very similar to Google's feature where it automatically delays each message before sending with an easy to access option to cancel the send. Thanks!

• How to setup Hadoop cluster so that it accepts mapreduce jobs from remote computers?

  There is a computer I use for Hadoop map/reduce testing. This computer runs 4 Linux virtual machines (using Oracle virtual box). Each of them has Cloudera with Hadoop (distribution c3u4) installed and serves as a node of Hadoop cluster. One of those 4 nodes is master node running namenode and jobtracker, others are slave nodes. Normally I use this cluster from local network for testing. However when I try to access it from another network I cannot send any jobs to it. The computer running Hadoop cluster has public IP and can be reached over internet for another services. For example I am able to get HDFS (namenode) administration site and map/reduce (jobtracker) administration site (on ports 50070 and 50030 respectively) from remote network. Also it is possible to use Hue. Ports 8020 and 8021 are both allowed. What is blocking my map/reduce job submits from reaching the cluster? Is there some setting that I must change first in order to be able to submit map/reduce jobs remotely? • Too many connections to 212.192.255.240

  Recently, my Internet slowed down drastically. I downloaded a tool to see the TCP/IP connections from my Vista computer. I found out that a lot TCP/IP connections are being connected to 212.192.255.240 through SVCHost. It seems that it is trying to connect to different ports. I think that my computer is being infected with some kind of malware etc. But I am not sure how to get rid of it. I did a little bit of research on this IP but found nothing. Any suggestions are highly appreciated. UPDATE: This is the HiJackThis log file and I can't find any thing weird. Also, the program is also trying to create connections to 91.205.127.63, which is also from Russia.   It's always been hard for me to add a music folder to Windows Media Player's playlist. I double click a file in the folder, WMP opens, and I drag the other files manually to the playlist. Isn't there an option to add a right-click context menu item that automatically add all audio contents in a folder to WMP playlist?

  Hi I need to schedule a task to eject a USB modem immediately when the power fail. I had searched in EventLog and found the EventID for power Failure, put it in the Triggers,but in the Action I didn't know how to put what will eject the modem. Can anybody please help me on this, I need it urgently, because my system crash on the power failure because of the USB modem. I have a UPS but I have no suitable power cable for the modem ( couldn't find one in my country ). I run win7 Ultimate
