  Is there a way to get a listing of control panel categories on Windows Vista and Windows 7 using the shell? Is there a way to determine which category an applet is assigned to using conical Names using the shell? such as Microsoft.Mouse is in which category? I have some code that works nicely to display control panel applet names obtained from the shell in a TListView in a Vista Classic ungrouped list. I'd like to try to group the applet names in the TListView similar to Control Panel Classic Grouped by Category in Vista. Bill

  Hi, i have a web user control containing a repeater. The repeater contains three buttons. On button click it gives the following error : Invalid postback or callback argument. Event validation is enabled using in configuration or <%@ Page EnableEventValidation="true" % in a page. For security purposes, this feature verifies that arguments to postback or callback events originate from the server control that originally rendered them. If the data is valid and expected, use the ClientScriptManager.RegisterForEventValidation method in order to register the postback or callback data for validation. Since user control does not have page directive, so i changed the enableEventValidation to false, but it restricted the itemcommand event of the repeater. Can someone guide me, how to solve this problem?

  Hi all, I have a list of devices that I need to filter on according to options selected by the user. One such option is cooling: when the user selects cooling only the devices with cooling are shown. If cooling is not selected then all devices (with or without cooling) are shown. I wonder what kind of control I best use for this. My feeling is thata checkbox is not a good control since it represents: No cooling (unchecked) / only cooling (checked) while I want cooling and no cooling (unchecked)/ only cooling (checked). What control is best used here? Thanks.

  I load a piece of html which contains something like: <em> < input type="text" value="Untitled" name="ViewTitle" id="ViewTitle" runat="server"> </em> into my control. The html is user defined, do please do not ask me to add them statically on the aspx page. On my page, I have a placeholder and I can use LiteralControl target = new LiteralControl (); // html string contains user-defined controls target.text = htmlstring to render it property. My problem is, since its a html piece, even if i know the input box's id, i cannot access it using FindControl("ViewTitle") (it will just return null) because its rendered as a text into a Literal control and all the input controls were not added to the container's control collections. I definitely can use Request.Form["ViewTitle"] to access its value, but how can I set its value?

• Do you leave historical code commented out in classes that you update?

  When you need to obsolete a section of code (say either the business rules changed, or the old system has been reworked to use a new framework or something) do you delete it from the file or do you comment it out and then put in the new functionality? If you comment it out, do you leave a note stating why it was removed and what it was originally intended to do? I ask mainly because I've done a lot of contract work for different places over the years and sometimes it's like excavating a tomb to find the actual code that is still being used. Why comment it out and leave it in the file if source control has a record of what used to be there? If you comment out a method do you also comment out/delete any methods that were exclusively used by that method? What do you think the best practices for this should be?

• Running control.exe as process does not WaitForExit()

  I am running control.exe as a process. (Windows 7 OS, .NET 3.5, C#). It does not stop at WaitForExit() as expected. It immediately "exits" the process even though the control.exe window is still open. I have tried the process.Exited event also and that is triggered before the application exits as well. • WPF TabControl - how to preserve control state within tab items (MVVM pattern)

  I am a newcomer to WPF, attempting to build a project that follows the recommendations of Josh Smith's excellent article describing The Model-View-ViewModel Design Pattern. Using Josh's sample code as a base, I have created a simple application that contains a number of "workspaces", each represented by a tab in a TabControl. In my application, a workspace is a document editor that allows a hierarchical document to be manipulated via a TreeView control. Although I have succeeded in opening multiple workspaces and viewing their document content in the bound TreeView control, I find that the TreeView "forgets" its state when switching between tabs. For example, if the TreeView in Tab1 is partially expanded, it will be shown as fully collapsed after switching to Tab2 and returning to Tab1. This behaviour appears to apply to all aspects of control state for all controls. After some experimentation, I have realized that I can preserve state within a TabItem by explicitly binding each control state property to a dedicated property on the underlying ViewModel. However, this seems like a lot of additional work, when I simply want all my controls to remember their state when switching between workspaces. I assume I am missing something simple, but I am not sure where to look for the answer. Any guidance would be much appreciated. However, since the data that underlies the TreeView is complex, I will post a simplified example that exhibits the same symtoms. • Maven deploy:deploy-file not found due to version/timestamp appended to jar

  I'm having a problem using deploy:deploy-file with snapshots I'd like some advice on please. I have 2 projects; 1) Ant based and 2) the other Maven based that consumes the jars of the other project via Archiva. I've added a target to the Ant project to deploy snapshots on every successful build during our iteration. • Cannot get assembly version for footer

  I'm using the automatic build versioning mentioned in this question (not the selected answer but the answer that uses the [assembly: AssemblyVersion("1.0.*")] technique). I'm doing this in the footer of my Site.Master file in MVC 2. All Rights Reserved. - Version: <%= Assembly.GetEntryAssembly().GetName().Version.ToString() %> </div> The exception I get is a Object reference not set to an instance of an object because GetEntryAssembly() returns NULL. My other options don't work either. GetCallingAssembly() always returns "4.0.0.0" and GetExecutingAssembly() always returns "0.0.0.0". When I go look at my DLLs, everything is versioning as I would expect. But I cannot figure out how to access it to display in my footer!!

  Does anyone know if this subversion "bug" has been dealt with? https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/subversion/tags/1.6.9/www/faq.html#windows-access-denied I'm getting occasional "Access Denied" errors on Windows. They seem to happen at random. Why? These appear to be due to the various Windows services that monitor the filesystem for changes (anti-virus software, indexing services, the COM+ Event Notification Service). This is not really a bug in Subversion, which makes it difficult for us to fix. A summary of the current state of the investigation is available here. A workaround that should reduce the incidence rate for most people was implemented in revision 7598; if you have an earlier version, please update to the latest release. Currently I am experiencing this same behavior in version 1.5.6 when I try and do a SVN switch (I have suspected McAfee as the culprit for a while and when I saw this I feel it validates my suspicions). I read through the link given but it seems pretty old, so I didn't know if this FAQ was just outdated and the issue has actually be resolved. Thanks for any help. Scala signature Predef has wrong version Expected 5.0 found: 4.1 in .... scala-library.jar I tried both versions 2.7.6 and 2.8 RC1 of scala-*.jar, the result was the same. JDK is 1.6.u20. UPDATE Today uninstalled IntelliJ 9.0.1, and installed 9.0.2 Early Availability, with the 4/14 stable version of the Scala plug-in.   Hi, Im trying to redirect to facebook to request permission to publish stream. However, it only works when i did not specify any display parameters, it shows me a web version of it. I wanted a wap version instead. What should I do?   I want to bounce users of our web site to an error page if they're using a version of Internet Explorer prior to v9. It's just not worth our time and money to support IE pre-v9. Users of all other non-IE browsers are fine and shouldn't be bounced. To head off a few comments that will probably be coming my way: [1] Yes, I know that users can forge their useragent string. I'm not concerned. [2] Yes, I know that programming pros prefer sniffing out feature-support instead of browser-type but I don't feel this approach makes sense in this case. I already know that all (relevant) non-IE browsers support the features that I need and that all pre-v9 IE browsers don't. Checking feature by feature throughout the site would be a waste. [3] Yes, I know that someone trying to access the site using IE v1 (or = 20) wouldn't get 'badBrowser' set to true and the warning page wouldn't be displayed properly. That's a risk we're willing to take. [4] Yes, I know that Microsoft has "conditional comments" that can be used for precise browser version detection. • PHP Missing Function In Older Version

  My this PHP function converts a datetime string into more readable way to represent passed date and time. This is working perfect in PHP version 5.3.0 but on the server side it is PHP version 5.2.17 which lacks this function. Is there a way I can fix this efficiently? This is not only a function which needs this "diff" function but there are many more. public function ago($dt1) { $interval = date_create('now')->diff(date_create($dt1)); $suffix = ($interval->invert ?
