• Computer is totally crashed

  my computer kept restarting on its own at random times varying from 1 minutes, to 20 minutes(then goind in a constant restart loop every ~10 seconds). I had to turn it off and wait minutes or hours before attempting to restarting to go further in the boot process. Now, it just does not turn on. I posted this before: Computer crashes every 2 to 10 minutes but I did not have the time to check the temperature. I don't want to pay to get it checked up, but I want to know what is wrong. Is the processor fried? Thank you

The problem is i get only contacts i created myself using no syncAdapter. I used facebook app to synch my facebook contacts, but this query doesn't return them. I extracted the contacts2.db from the emulator and the view_contacts view shows me all the contacts, so the DB is updated. What should i do to get all the contacts regardless of how they were created (with which synch adapter)

• jQuery UI Draggable-Droppable overflow:visible

  Sadly, I am unable to provide any JSFiddle for this issue, as I cant seem to reproduce it outside my project. I have a container where there are some boxes, that can be arranged using drag and drop, by utilizing jQuery UI. The problem is, that the container is overflow:auto; but it needs to be overflow:visible;, but if I do that, jQuery UI malfunctions. When a box drag is initiated, it will immediatly jump up aproximately 400-500px. This is how the draggable is created: $(".draggable").draggable({ revert: 'invalid', // when not dropped, the item will revert back to its initial position containment: '#editContainer', // stick to demo-frame if present helper: 'original', cursor: 'move' }); Is this a bug with jQuery UI, or can this be fixed on my end? My config is as follows: service tftp { protocol = udp port = 69 socket_type = dgram wait = yes user = nobody server = /usr/sbin/in.tftpd server_args = -s /svr/tftp disable = no } the directory /svr/tftp permissions are 777: drwxrwxrwx 3 nobody nobody 4096 Nov 14 10:32 svr This thing should have full permissions as would anyone who wanted to write or read from that directory. I see nothing in the logs im really stumped on this. If the file is already in the directory I can read it all day long, I just cant make NEW files, can not put them, but I can do get's, I can only put to an existing file with permissions @777. Thanks

• Rebuilding /etc/rc?.d/ links

  A regular filesystem check on a Debian Lenny system triggered an fsck, and that nuked a handful of links in the /etc/rc?.d hierarchy (unfortunately I didn't keep a list). The system seems to boot and run normally, but I'm worried its storing up trouble for the future. Is there an easy (fairly automatic) way of rebuilding this piece of the system ? As I understand it, the links are generally manipulated by package postinst scripts using update-rc.d (and I haven't made any changes from the installed defaults). Without any better ideas, my plan is one of: Diff a listing with another similar system to identify which packages need their links repairing. Wait until the system is upgraded to Squeeze (hopefully not too long :^) and assume the mass package upgrade will restore all the missing links.

• File Saving Sometimes Fails

  When I attempt to save files, it sometimes (randomly) fails. In Blender, I sometimes get "Version Backup Failed: File Saved With @". In Visual Studio, building sometimes fails with an error message indicating that the target file/exe cannot be overwritten. If I wait a bit, I can save fine. It's almost as if programs are taking an abnormal amount of time to 'let go' of the files. What could be causing this behaviour? This seems to be caused by Windows Live Mesh monitoring my files, and locking them whenever it uploads the new versions (BAD considering the amount of times I save my files, even redundantly). Any suggestions to work around this behaviour? Should I switch to a better service to sync my files?

At 33:20 he says: I can show and do show on the SMART page that sectors are being relocated and that errors are being corrected. That SMART analysis page sometimes scares people because it shows, wait a minute, this thing says we're correcting so many errors per megabyte. What is this SMART page? 1) Some information saved on the HD by SMART, that I can access with a SMART tool like smartmontools? 2) A page (tab) in his SpinRite software? In any case, can I see, in any way, what sectors are marked as bad, without using SpinRite? Preferably using smartmontools!

  I have a co-worker who insists that he will never buy a book unless it is considered "THE" book. So, in this vein, I thought I'd ask what the ultimate Linux book is. I wouldn't quite call myself a complete beginner since I can get around in Linux in general pretty well. But, beyond that, I'm also looking for a book with an eye towards becoming a Sys Admin someday. I saw a Junior Sys Admin position open up recently but with the requisite 2-3 years experience, I may have to wait a little while longer before I'm ready to apply for such a position. Having said all that, I'll summarize my question: What is the ultimate Linux book for someone who is ok with the basic tasks of getting around in Linux but also wants to aim towards full Sys Admin status someday?   I have an asp.net application running on Windows 2012 in IIS 8 that has a very time consuming application start process (essentially the code running in the Application_Start() event can take up to 2 minutes). Thus I'd like to minimize the number of times the application is started so that the user can avoid a long wait. I've enabled Preload in the application settings, and I've set the Start Mode to AlwaysRunning in the application pool. Yet the application still ends after not being used for a while, resulting in a very long time for the first visit to the website after the application shuts down. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can prevent this? Thanks

I mean, I want to have multiple mice within the whole OS, but they must be all VIRTUAL (I'm not talking about the applications that serve multiple mice driver for PS/2 or USB mice or Microsoft's MultiPoint Mouse SDK.) It is like creating two objects: Mouse mouse1, mouse2; and using them like: mouse1.mouse_event(...); mouse2.mouse_event(...); having a CURSOR on the screen is NOT IMPORTANT. I only need the action (MOUSE DOWN, MOVE, UP for each but separated) and the important thing is that these VIRTUAL MICE should work together, at the same time, click or down-move action with different coordinates(x,y).

  Hi, I'm using pyodbc to talk to a legacy Access 2000 .mdb file. I've got a cursor, and am trying to execute this: c.execute("INSERT INTO [Accounts] ([Name], [TypeID], [StatusID], [AccountCat], [id]) VALUES (?, ?, ?, ?, ?)", [u'test', 20, 10, 4, 2]) However, doing so results in pyodbc.Error: ('HYC00', '[HYC00] [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver]Optional feature not implemented (106) (SQLBindParameter)') I understand I can simply change the question marks to the literal values, but in my experience proper escaping of strings across databases is... not pretty. PHP and mysql team up to bring mysql_real_escape_string and friends, but I can't seem to find pyodbc's function for escaping values. If you could let me know what the recommended way of inserting this data (from python) is, that'd be very helpful. Alternatively, if you have a python function to escape the odbc strings, that would also be great. Thanks for the help.

• problem with Chrome form handling: input onfocus="this.select()"

  I'm using the following HTML code to autoselect some text in a form field when a user clicks on the field: input onfocus="this.select()" type="text" value="Search" This works fine in Firefox and Internet Explorer (the purpose being to use the default text to describe the field to the user, but highlight it so that on click they can just start typing), but I'm having trouble getting it to work in Chrome. When I click the form field in Chrome the text is highlighted for just a split second and then the cursor jumps to the end of the default text and the highlighting goes away. Any ideas on how to get this working in Chrome as well?

But now I wanted to use the same functionality in WPF. But the problem I faced is that in WPF button click event handler I can't access the Storyboard1 object. Please help me to access the storyboard object in event handler.

• ctags doesn't work when class is defined like "class Gem::SystemExitException"

  You can define a class in a namespace like this class Gem class SystemExitException end end or class Gem::SystemExitException end When code uses first method of class definition, ctags indexes the class definition like this: SystemExitException test_class.rb /^ class SystemExitException$/;" c class:Gem With the second way, ctags indexes it like this: Gem rubygems/exceptions.rb /^class Gem::SystemExitException < SystemExit$/;" c The problem with the second way is that you can't put your cursor (in vim) over a reference to "Gem::SystemExitException" and have that jump straight to the class definition. Your only recourse is to page through all the (110!) class definitions that start with "Gem::" and find the one you're looking for. Does anyone know of a workaround? Maybe I should report this to the maintainer of ctags?

• Highlighting effect to text and/or image similar to be synchronized with audio

  I am looking how to approach following problem: We have application that displays text with audio recorded material. We use Browser Control (Internet Explorer) in Delphi App to do this. We respond to events in Delphi code setting innerHTML for elements if we have to update the style ... Now, request is to add option to dynamically move the cursor or dynamically highlight the words spoken from the paragraph. It doesn't need to match absolutely the exact word spoken so we will have to dynamically update the content of position of highlighted word based on some timer or something (because it is not text to speach). What should be the most practical and easy approach to this kind of problem, all answers are greatly appreciated. Thanks.
