• Using Jquery 1.8.0 return false is not breaking an each() loop

  I currently have a Javascript function that uses a string to reference an object name and acces its properties. I'm currently using eval() to get the the desired effect which I know is very, very wrong. Here is an example of how I'm currently achieving what I want: var stringToObjectRef = function() { var myTestVar = "myTestObject"; var myTestObject = { 'item1' : 100, 'item2' : 12, 'item4' : 18 }; var myValue = eval(myTestVar + '.item1'); alert(myValue); }(); I've tried using something like [myTestVar].item1, but this returns undefined.   I have a form I am submitting via jquery ajax. Early in the form, I have this field: <select name="inquirymodule[]" id="inquirymodule"> The user can add as many as they like, and all the selects go into the inquirymodule[] array. The jQuery looks like this: jQuery.ajax({ type: 'POST', url: 'ajax.php', dataType: 'json', data: { inquirymodule: jQuery("select[name='inquirymodule[]']").serialize(), }, error: function(XMLHttpRequest, textStatus, errorThrown) { alert('error'); } }); That works fine. Trying to do the same thing with a date, like this: <input class="formInput" type="text" id="startBreak0" name='startbreak[]' /> adding startbreak: jQuery("select[name='startbreak[]']").serialize() to the ajax call. It doesn't work, I cannot see why. Suggestions?

To complete the work fast we have created a macro that has been updated on all the machines. This macro corrects the font, size and formatting. How can I ensure and implement that nobody can change/replace or delete this macro from their system? In case this happens I should get an alert.   Hi, I have an asp.net web page (C# 2008) where the user would enter an EmployeeID, and when they tab out of the textbox, they get a messagebox prompting them to select one of two values from a dropdown listbox. The code for the message prompt in the codebehind is : Response.Write("<script>window.alert('Please select Alpha or Beta')</script>"); After the prompt is displayed, and the user clicks "ok" and returns to the page, the text on the page appears distorted (the text in labels are a size larger, the labels get wrapped to another line etc) I tried putting a Response.Redirect("UserProfileMaint.aspx"); after the messagebox in the codebehind, but now, the messagebox does not appear; I want to display the messagebox validation, and ensure the appearance of the text on the page is not distorted. How can I do this?

  Hi everybody. i'm using jquery 1.3.2, and have a problem in situatsuin where i fill select via getJson $.each(data, function() { $("#select_elem").append("<option value='"+this.Value+"'>" + this.Value + "</option>"); }); and after, when i try to get selected value : var sel_val = $("#select_elem"); alert(sel_val.val()); in IE it works, in FF it always shows the first value in list, in chrome it's always null. is there any way to fix this? • Detecting when HTML5 audio is finished playing (more than once)?

  I am having a problem detecting when an tag is finished playing an mp3. When I do something like this: myAudio.addEventListener("ended", function() { alert("ended"); }); It only occurs the first time the audi is played. When I play the audio again, nothing happens. The same thing occurs when I use the onended=doThis(); method. I've heard maybe there is a way to do it in jquery, but I haven't been able to get it to work. I've also heard there might be a way to fix it by changing the audio div id everytime the mp3 is played, but this doesn't work for me because I need the id to stay the same. Anyone got any ideas?

  I have an application where a user can vote on reviews. They can vote up or down. Now when there's a listing of reviews, I have a problem targeting the review the user voted on. I'm using a respon_to block in my rails controller and responding with js. So for instance, I have a vote_up method, and a vote_up.js.erb template. in that template, I have the following: var id = $('article.comment').attr('id').split('_')[1]; alert("id: " + id); $('.votecomment_' + id).find('.score').html("<%= @review2.vote_total %>"); I'm just alerting the id. The problem is that the id always returns the value of the first review found on the page. How can I pass the context aka this, to javascript, so I can figure out which review to target?

  Is there any way to break a closure easily in JavaScript? However, this approach seems kind of ugly to me, are there any better ways?

  I'm completely perplexed. I set the value of a hidden field with jQuery and the submit the form. The hidden value is present when I dump the $_POST array via PHP unless I use Internet Explorer. Here's the test code: $('#hidden-field').val('I am a hidden value'); // To make sure it's setting properly ... // This shows its being set in FF, Chrome, **AND** IE alert($('#hidden-field').val()); Then on the PHP side: print_r($_POST); For submissions made with IE the result looks like this: Array ( [hidden-field] => ) Other browsers have the value. Help? Why doesn't the value submit and how can I make it?

In jQuery I must select one and alert the values. <div class="button" id="3"></div> The ID value is dynamically generated, therefore I do not know it.   In the example fiddle, how can I get the total number of markers displayed on the map? I'm pushing each of the markers into an array like this: markers.push(marker) And attempting to get the total number of markers like this: $('.marker-count span').html(markers.length); Unfortunately, "markers.length" is returning 0 when it should be returning at least 3. • Object is not a function on call to dialog() function

  I keep getting "dialogDiv.dialog is not a function". I'm simply trying to invoke the jQueryUI dialog off my reference to the div. So incoming is the divID, for example "myDiv". Then I set it to a variable and wrap it in $("#" + myDiv); so that now I have a reference to it in a nice clear variable.
