• pushViewController for same instance - only for animation purpose

  Hi there, I am having single table view in a view controller. That table view lists the countries first. When I click on a country(row), it has to push the same view controller's view with cities under that country. I need to see the slide animation, which we usally get while pushing views in navigator. Is it possible to use the pushViewController for the same view controller by calling the tableView reloadData with city data (This should happen when country is selected) ?   I have a Django form that uses an integer field to lookup a model object by its primary key. The form has a save() method that uses the model object referred to by the integer field.   When I click on the delete link I created, it doesn't do anything (even the flash[:notice] part) in the controller. Am I not calling the .delete? part correctly? The POST part works as I can add tips. • How does ImageView just redraw part of its content when invalidate(Rect) is called?

  Hi, guys I am new to Android development, just reading docs and trying the APIs. I am quit confused how ImageView managed to draw just a part of its content after an invalidate(Rect) invocation. I've checked ImageView.java, found no other drawing method except onDraw(Canvas), but onDraw(Canvas) only cut the drawable only if it is beyound the view's visible boundary. I also read the implementation of View.invalidate(Rect), I think the key of this function is calling to mParent.invalidateChild(this, r); However, I think the parent view doesn't know how to draw the child in the given Rect, it finally has to call some method of it child to paint out. Has anybody investigated this part of codes? Would you please give me some guide?

• How to get some xml that comes before and a little from after a DOM Node.

  I am using java and I am pretty open to using w3c DOM or DOM4J at this point. So lets say I have a Node like a text node that I have found something interesting in, like say an occurrence of a substring in the nodes text. If I want to get a string with a number characters preceding that node and a few characters after that node how may I do that? Basically I need to be able to display a snippet of the original xml around the occurrence of that string. The problem I have with getting the parent node for example and then calling asXML is that I no longer know the exact location of the substring in the text node. If I search again for that string value in the parents xml then I may find 2 occurrences or many more if the parent has other children that contain an occurrence of that string. Much appreciation if any one can answer this question.

• Killing COM object from C#

  I have a COM object that we are calling from C#. This works great, and I have my own pool of objects that I can use whenever I want. Now I need to kill the object. I've tried releasing the COM object explicitly and then garbage collecting from another thread, but that does nothing. Does anyone have any other ideas to kill this object? Thanks for the help. • gdb: SIGTRAP on std::string::c_str() call

  So I've been trying to use gdb to return the value of a string I have by calling > print <member variable name>.c_str() But everytime I do so, I get this: Program received signal SIGTRAP, Trace/breakpoint trap. <some address> in std::string::c_str() from /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.6 GDB remains in the frame where the signal was received. To change this behavior use "set unwindonsignal on" Evaluation of the expression containing the function (std::string::c_str() const) will be abandoned. Two questions: Why/how is the standard library throwing SIGTRAP? I checked basic_string.h and c_str() is defined as: const _CharT* c_str() const { return _M_data(); } I don't see any SIGTRAP-throwing here... is there a way to get around this SIGTRAP? How can I read the text value of the std::string out (without getting some crazy extension library) in gdb?

• [C++]Advantage of using a static member function instead of an equivalent non-static member function

  I was wondering whether there's any advantages to using a static member function when there is a non-static equivalent. Will it result in faster execution (because of not having to care about all of the member variables), or maybe less use of memory (because of not being included in all instances)? Basically, the function I'm looking at is an utility function to rotate an integer array representing pixel colours an arbitrary number of degrees around an arbitrary centre point. It is placed in my abstract Bullet base class, since only the bullets will be using it and I didn't want the overhead of calling it in some utility class. It's a bit too long and used in every single derived bullet class, making it probably not a good idea to inline. How would you suggest I define this function? As a static member function of Bullet, of a non-static member function of Bullet, or maybe not as a member of Bullet but defined outside of the class in Bullet.h? What are the advantages and disadvantages of each?

  Hello ,guys, My app needs to get the camera data from Iphone. In my ImagePickerController, there is overlayView drawing realtime indications. I use UIGetScreenImage() to get the screenshot, and I also dump overlayview to image, then I can restore the original Image based on these two images. if the overlayView is still, it works quite well, but if the overlayView keeps changing, UIGetScreenImage() can not keep up with it. For example,if the overlayView changes from a rectangle to a circle, then calling UIGetScreenImage() returns with a rectangle on top of it. Is there a way to get the realtime camera data? I really appreciate if someone could help.

• input file cannot be found

  I am just messing around with reading input files with java until I got stumped at the most basic of steps... finding the input file! The input.txt file is in the same directory as my class file that is calling it yet eclipse still gives me an error that it cant be found: "Exception in thread "main" java.lang.Error: Unresolved compilation problem: Unhandled exception type FileNotFoundException" My code: package pa; import java.util.Scanner; public class Project { public static void main(String[] args) { java.io.File file = new java.io.File("input.txt"); System.out.println(file.getAbsolutePath()); Scanner input = new Scanner(file); } } input.txt is in the same package, same folder and everything. I'm confused :(

• ADO "Unspecified Error" instead of actual error when fetching server side cursor

  This relates to my recent question: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2835663/force-oracle-error-on-fetch I am now able to reproduce a scenario where using ADO with the Oracle OLEDB Provider, I can force an error such as ORA-01722: invalid number to occur on calling Recordset.MoveNext However, this is not the error that is returned to the application. Instead, the application sees Provider error '80004005' Unspecified error. How can I get the application to see the real error from the database? This is with Oracle 10g (client and server), if it matters.   Hi, I'm getting an exception calling Resolve: KernelException: Could not instantiate custom activator Inner Exception: {"Constructor on type 'MyProj.MyAdapter`1[[MyProj.MyBusinessObject, MyAsm, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null]]' not found."} There's definitely a public parameterless constructor there (and I've verified this using reflection at runtime)...so I figure the problem might have to do with the fact that it's generic? I've tried getting the component model object and setting RequiresGenericArguments to true, but that hasn't gotten me anywhere. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks.

• Pear MDB2 class and raiserror exceptions in SQL Server

  Hi, in SQL Server it's possible to raise an error with raiserror(). I want to use a severity, which doesn't interrupt the connection. This error is raised in a stored procedure. In SQL Management Studio all is fine and I get my error code when executing this SP. But when trying to execute this SP via MDB2 in PHP5 this doesn't work. All I get is an empty array. MDB2 object is created via (including needed options): $db =& MDB2::connect($dsn); $db->setFetchMode(MDB2_FETCHMODE_ASSOC); $db->setOption('portability',MDB2_PORTABILITY_ALL ^ MDB2_PORTABILITY_EMPTY_TO_NULL); The following works (I get a PEAR error): $db->query("RAISERROR('test',11,0);"); But when calling a stored procedure which raises this error via $db->query("EXEC sp_raise_error"); there is not output. What's wrong?

  Say I have a table of "BlogPosts" in a database and i want to be able to cache the ones that were retrieved already in memory, for further reads, I can just use a standard hashtable type memory cache like System.Web.Caching.Cache, but if i then need to update a property on one of these blog posts e.g. blogPost.Title and update the record in DB, i cannot do this without fetching it again from database as the Entity Framework context used to fetch this record when it was loaded into my cache is already disposed? How do I write code so that I am getting an object from my cache, updating one property and just calling the SaveChanges method without incurring an extra read.

• Flex - How do I get the absolute X and Y coordinate including HTML offset?

  Hey everyone, I am calling a JS function through the ExternalInterface using Flex which requires the absolute X and Y coordinates to create a pop-up menu. The Flex application is displayed on the center of an HTML page, therefore there is an HTML X and Y offset to consider. I have tried using the LocalToGlobal and ContentToGlobal functions, but these are just giving me the X and Y coordinates relative to the Flex application, it is not considering the HTML X and Y offset of having the Flex app in the center of the page or varying different screen resolutions. Is the best approach to retrieve the HTML X and Y offset using JavaScript? Is there a Flex function I can use that provides the absolute X and Y coordinates based on the HTML page? Thanks!

  Hi All, long time listener, first time caller. I use SPs and this isn't an SP vs code-behind "Build your SQL command" question. I'm looking for a high-throughput method for a backend app that handles many small transactions. I use SQLDataReader for most of the returns since forward only works in most cases for me. I've seen it done many ways, and used most of them myself. Methods that define and accept the stored procedure parameters as parameters themselves and build using cmd.Parameters.Add (with or without specifying the DB value type and/or length) Assembling your SP params and their values into an array or hashtable, then passing to a more abstract method that parses the collection and then runs cmd.Parameters.Add Classes that represent tables, initializing the class upon need, setting the public properties that represent the table fields, and calling methods like Save, Load, etc I'm sure there are others I've seen but can't think of at the moment as well. I'm open to all suggestions.

  Hi, I have developed an application which has retrieved the information from remote location...so i put those in UITableView's Section.In response, i will be getting images also..for this i put the background process(only for images..because the app will take more time to retrieve images than text based information..).It is working fine...But if i scroll the tableview while loading the images..it is going to be crashed.... crash Log: Tried to obtain the web lock from a thread other than the main thread or the web thread. This may be a result of calling to UIKit from a secondary thread. Crashing now... could anyone has the solution for this..please let me know..how to resolve this crash...Even i used NSThread class for this.. but i didn't get the solution... Thanks, Srinivas G

• Asp.Net MVC best way to update cached table

  There are certain tables that get called often but updated rarely. One of these tables is Departments. So to save DB trips, I think it is ok to cache this table taking into consideration that the table has very small size. However, once you cached it an issue of keeping the table data fresh occurs. So what is the best way to determine that the table is dirty and therefore requires a reload and how that code should be invoked. I look for solution that will be scalable. So updating the cache right after inserting will not work. So if one machine inserted the record all other on network should get notified to reload the cache. I was thinking for calling corresponding web service from T-SQL but don't really like the idea of consuming recourses on sql server. So what are the best practices to resolve this type of problems. • C++ HTML template framework, templatizing library, HTML generator library

  I am looking for template/generator libraries for C++ that are similar to eg. Ruby's Erb, Haml, PHP's Smarty, etc. It would be great if I it would sport some basic features like loops, if/else, int conversion to strings, etc. Parameter passing to template rendering engine is also important if I could pass all of them in a hash map instead of calling some function for each of parameters. Do you have any recommendations? I can see also the possibility of embedding languages like Lua, however I haven't found a templatizing library for that either. Thanks!

• Why does this explicit call of a Scala method allow it to be implicitly resolved?
