  • Should I pay my developers for bugs fixes for a project or work that's still in progress?

    We are working with a group of developers on a project. The project is still in progress (not completed) and these developers charge us for time spent on fixing bugs on codes that were not written valid in the first place. I understand that we should pay for changes/new requests if any, but not bugs fixes for a work in progress. We also understand that once the assignment is being deployed to the live site, we may be liable for bugs fixes that may arise after a support period is being exhausted. The question now is, is it appropriate for such charges to be levied upon us while the project is still in progress?

    I'm studying OOP PHP and have watched two tutorials that implement user login\registration system as an example. But implementation varies. Which way will be more correct one to work with data such as this? Load all data retrieved from database as array into a property called something like _data on class creation and further methods operate with this property Create separate properties for each field retrieved from database, on class creation load all data fields into respective properties and operate with that properties separately? Then let's say I want to create a method that returns a list of all users with their data. Which way is better? Method that returns just an array of userdata like this: Array([0]=>array([id] => 1, [username] => 'John', ...), [1]=>array([id] => 2, [username] => 'Jack', ...), ...) Method that creates a new instance of it's class for each user and returns an array of objects

  • Google Analytics data Missing for 4 days

    I used wrong tracking id in my E-commerce tracking code for Google analytics and missed the data for few days. To add that missing data in my account I have written a short script which manually send all orders data for four days to GA account but what my concern is date : Those orders which already placed on different dates and , when if I run my script and so it will send my missing data with current date , which I do not want. ( I want to send date when that order is actually placed) do anyone help me with this ? I am really much stuck with my work here.

  • CellC data card not recognized if I boot with it in

    In 11.10 I find that I can connect to the internet via broadband connection successfully. The problem is that I cannot have the data card attached to the machine while the machine boots up. If I leave the data card in the machine during startup, the data card is not picked up and I then cannot connect to the internet. I must first boot up my machine, login, attach the data card into the usb port, wait so 30 seconds. The broadband connection name will then appear in the network dropdown at the top of the screen. An internet connect is now possible via broadband. Please let me know what must be done to fix this.

    This question is more a design oriented question than a code specific question. I am new to PHP and I am planning to use PDO as a data access layer. Say for instance I have a class called CITY. Now if I need to create an instance of this class, what is the best technique. Should have a singleton DB access class which is used to write and read data from the db layer. OR should I delegate it to the individual class object. For example if I invoke city.save() (city is a class), then the city class will handle the saving of that city object's data into the database. Excuse my ignorance but i have a java background and therefore trying to understand what is the best design principle for data management when using php.

    Hi, I've been setting up a fresh magento 1.4.0.1 install, working great so far. I did some test orders just to see.   • How to notify client about updated UpdatePanel content on server side

    I have a problem with UpdatePanel.Update() which works initially but then stops. I have tumbled with this problem for some time and some background is needed so please read ahead. I have an ASP.net application in which I have a subpage that display computed information in graphs. Each graph is embedded in an UpdatePanel. The graph is a user control that uses the standard asp:Chart for display. My task is to enable this page with AJAX capabilities so the page is responsive during postbacks. When I access this page from another page, during the initial page rendering, I use a wait dialog for each graph and a pageload event on the client side. In the client event, a hidden button is clicked which a server event handles (the hidden button is inside an UpdatePanel so the postback is asynchronous). Each graph is computed and the UpdatePanels are in turn updated with the Chart content. This is done using UpdatePanel.Update. And it is successful. However, I also have some RadioButtons on the page. These are dynamically created. The purpose of them is to switch graph type --- to show the same data in a different way. Same type of time consuming computation is needed in order to do so. I subscribe on each RadioButton's OnCheckedChanged event and the postback is asynchronous since the radiobuttons are inside an UpdatePanel. In the server event handler I determine the type of graph and use this as an input to the Chart control. I then remove the old Chart control from my Panel and adds new Chart and then I call UpdatePanel.Update(). But with no success. Nothing happens, no errors, nothing. Why is this?? I think this is strange because if I compute every Chart data in the initial rendering instead of using the "Wait dialog"-solution described earlier then I can select graph types successfully and all subsequent AJAX requests work as intended. Also, the same code (computing the chart, removal, and adding the Chart control to Panel and UpdatePanel.Update()) is hit during the initial rendering of the page, and it works only the first time. Here is the method that computes the graph and adds it to the panel and update the UpdatePanel: public void UpdateGraph(GraphType type, GraphMapper mapper) { //Panel is the content of UpdatePanelGraph's Panel.Controls.Clear(); chart = new Chart(type, mapper); //Computation happens inside here panel.Controls.Add(chart); //UpdatePanelGraph is in UpdateMode Conditional and has //ChildrenAsTriggers set to false UpdatePanelGraph.Update(); } I really need a way for these radiobuttons to work, possible using some clientside JavaScript or another way of handling things on the server side. I have thought about using a JavaScript postback call on the UpdatePanel instead of the UpdatePanel.Update(). However, the issue I have here is how to notify the client side when the server side is finished with computing the graph? An plausible explanation of the strange behavior is also much appreciated.     I lack understanding of how does the generated proxy class object (CGLib enhanced POJO) is transferred to the remote client and still pertains its ability to generate Lazy Init. Exceptions. Does that mean that there is some kind of contract that all the transferred objects of some kind of class (a proxy) will be reinstantiated as proxies again? Where does the client obtain those generated classes? Sorry, but I totally do not understand.

The example that I have in mind is a business object validation on a EJB based architecture.     Hi all, I have a question about the usage of TCPListener in .NET... I am thinking about a client/server application and being new to this kind of application I have search a bit around the web and the solution which come the more often is to create a new thread for each new client connection. This solution seem fine but I was wondering if it was still usable with a application where you can have thousands of client at the same time ? Of course if there is thousands of client the application will not be hosted on a small desktop but on a real server, but is it the way to design an application for a large number of client ?   • Simple WCF question.

    So I am learning WCF and I have run across an issue that I believe has to do with Instance Control/State but I am not sure. Workflow is as follows, Basic client/server paradigm. The client calls a Method RetrieveBusinessObjects(criteria) and the server calls the datalayer and then puts them in an IList on the server side. It does not return this list to the calling Client. The client would then call a method say DisplayBusinessObjects() which would retrieve the IList from the Server, serialize them, bring them across the wire and display them. If i try this using the WCFTestClient it works. If I run it from an actual client then I get back an BusinessObject[] of size 0. Which to me indicates I had no objects to return. Is that a state mgmt issue or am I missing something?

  • DD-WRT PPTP VPN problem

    I try to configure a DD-WRT as a PPTP client. The VPN Server is Windows Server 2003. This is my scenario: The Windows 2003 Server has set to give to the VPN Client the 10.0.0.81 fixed IP and to add a network route to the remote home. At the remote home I have changed the PPTP Options at DD-WRT to make the connection. The VPN connection is successfully established. ...and Windows successfully add the route to the remote home 192.168.2.X. From the remote home I can successfully access any computer from the VPN server side. The problem is when I try to access the remote home from the Server side. From Server side I only can access\ping DD-WRT ( by VPN Client IP - 10.0.0.81). What's wrong? How I need to do to be a site-to-site VPN? This is what happen when I try to tracert the remote home from local home.
